1. Stop Students Texting While Driving in Student Parking lot

There has been numerous accidents in the student parking lot at my school.

The cause of those accidents are students being distracted because they are either texting or talking on their cell phones while driving.

2. Fix Potholes on Gooburrum Road

Due to damage being done to a car on Friday night the 12th November 2010 by the large and deep potholes on Gooburrum Road we would like the Bundaberg City Council to assess the condition of the road.. These holes have been continuously getting worse over the past 12 months and the Council just continues to keep patching them up.

As described by someone from the council in the Bundaberg Newsmail dated the 17th November 2010 the pavement is very thin, the weather has contributed to the damage and so have the amount of large trucks and machinery driven on this road. There is one particular section were there are a group of potholes and there are power poles either side.

We fear that one day a serious accident may occur. Its it not only very bad for the locals but any visitors on the road would be unaware of the conditions due to no signage and the fact that the road goes from two lanes to one and then further down the road goes back into two lanes again. There are no street lights to help with seeing any of the potholes and the speed limit is 80 ks.

If you didn't know the road then there is a big chance you just might receive damage to your car or maybe even yourself.. There are many deep potholes along all of Gooburrum Road.We have taken over 30 photos

3. Justice 4 Simon

In 2002, Simon Hall was remanded in custody charged with the murder of Mrs Albert and was subsequently convicted the following year. 7 years on Simon still protests his innocence while the dubious nature of his conviction and imprisonment remain.

More information can be found at his official website at caseblog.wronglyaccusedperson.org.uk/Justice4Simon/ but put simply for the conviction of Simon Hall to be considered safe it is necessary to accept all of the following.

1/ That Mrs Albert ate a meal at 4 o'clock in the morning instead of midnight as was her usual.

2/ People randomly decide to murder someone with no motive.

3/ “Clumsy Cats” create noises similar to the sound of breaking glass at 2am waking neighbours, but burglars break windows (apparently from inside) at 6am silently so as not to be heard by the same people.

4/ Black flock fleece fibres can only originate from one particular garment and that checking against around 50 producers of such fibres worldwide can be considered extensive (Feel free to search online for yourselves to see how these fibres are).

5/ That garment is only available from one outlet and the material from which it is made is used in nothing else.

6/ That it is possible for someone to own such a garment without evidence of it’s existence, evidence of it’s purchase or evidence of it having been received as a gift.

7/ That scene contamination as evidenced by a pubic hair which was later proved to have come from a police officer could not equally account for fibre traces at any of the sites where they were found.

8/ That a drunk man can break into a house, brutally murder someone, return to his parents home acting normally without leaving any trace of himself or his environment, or collecting any traces of the victim or her property.

It is significantly more likely that the actual perpetrator remains free to walk among us and will never be caught until the wrongful conviction of Simon Hall is overturned and the investigation is re-opened.

This petition follows on from one originally started at http://justice4simon.co.uk/petition.php containing 1996 signatures which cannot continue for technical reasons. Therefore if you have already signed on that page you need not do so here also though on completion we will cross check both signature lists to ensure that there are no duplicates.

Please sign this petition in pursuit of justice not only for Simon Hall, but for Mrs Albert who very much deserves to have her killer found.

4. Let’s make sure Malta stays a safe country!

One of Malta’s most attractive points is the relative safety in which we go about our daily lives. Up to recently, Maltese nationals and foreigners residing in Malta alike, all went about their daily lives, knowing that they live in a safe environment.

No one ever thought that in Malta you could get mugged in your own street, just outside your own home! What has this country come to? Have we fallen in love with the EU to the extent that we want our crime levels to mirror those of most states?

A friend of mine moved to Malta recently as “it is a safe place to bring up your children”! At this rate, if the authorities do nothing about it, these lovely words will carry no more weight!

Are the respective authorities on the ball on this subject? Should we revert to Neighbourhood Watch in highly sensitive villages and towns, to tackle this issue? What are we waiting for? Some real serious accident to happen, perhaps? An over-protective parent or boyfriend, acting impulsively to save their valuables, ending up seriously injured at the hands of these criminals?

5. Against The New Chatham Transit Bus Rules

The "new rules" state...
-no food
-no drinks (including baby bottles)
-no cell phones
-no mp3 players
-all riders with children in strollers must take the kids out of the strollers and fold the strollers up BEFORE getting on the bus.

Does this seem reasonable let alone safe? Not only is the concept of carrying a child AND a stroller on and off the bus inconceivable but you can't even give your baby a bottle but there's also no carseats or seatbelts for the kids.

6. One Voice, One goal, Our Dream: to Stop the Unjust Treatment and Deportation of Undocumented Workers

In Canada there are approximately 30,000 to 50,000 undocumented workers, many of whom are waiting for their application to be processed or who have been rejected. For those individuals seeking refuge a request for deportation means returning into an unsafe environment where they are at risk of harm, torture or death; the very reason why they fled. They are victims of human rights abusers and Canada should uphold their universal right to life, liberty, and security.

Up to 15,000 individuals in Ontario and 200,000 nationally have already been deported. For those that remain in Canada, the fear of deportation is constant, during which they are deprived of necessities such as medical access, safety, education, and decent wages for engaging in poor and unsafe work.

8. Lead free housing for our children

Jan 23, 2006

In march 2005 I rented a home from Dayne Davis Realitor unaware of the serious consequences that would fall upon my one yr old son.

From the fist day we moved in my baby seemed to have changed mentally the things he once did like walking and talking all came to a stop and little by little he seem to get sicker often with high fevers of 106 to viral infections and having to go to the doctor at leat twice a month.

So they decided to give him a lead test and it was my worst fear his levels was at 10. I was contacted by the health dept (Kimberly Noble) to have the home cleaned of lead and was told to contact the landlord. I did and to my despise he gave me a seven day notice and he just recieved my rent money two days prior.

I had just moved in i got the results in June and was informed by the doctor and health dept it was a matter he has to clean. (He refused.) So i got a lawyer (Brian Smith) which informed me of my rights and told me he just can't throw me out because my baby was sick. Mr. Smith also informed my landlord Dayne Davis whom agreed to clean the house if i would not sue him for medical and emotional expenses especially since i was Eight months pregnant at the time. So he had me to leave my home for seven days assuring me the home would be cleaned up and so i did. When i returned home and after the court proceding was stopped i realized that the inside of the home wasent done only the front porch.

I called Dayne Davis and informed him of the situation because paint chips was still in the home he told me they hepa vac the home and it was safe that all i would need to do is bleach the windows and everything would be fine. so i did. The paint started to chip again and i notice my baby was getting sicker, around this time he took me to court to file for eviction two months later in Sept becuase of the funds i wouldnt give him until the home was cleaned which was just for june 2005 after he agreed with my lawyer not to take legal action especially since he wouldnt take my funds anyways. So i payed him and to my surprise my son is getting more violent, angry and now he cant talk anymore, hes also throws horrible temper tantrums and he cant even focus. So i was advised by his family doctor Dr. Saeed that his levels had increased to 15 and to send him to an A.D.H.A specialist Dr. Chheda, whom diagnosed my son with A.D.H.A Behavior conduct disorder, and refers him to a speech, and behavior therapist as well as phychrioist. Hes now deemed mentally retarded and the cause was Lead Poising now he is prescribed medicine to help him focus and calm down. I informed Dayne Davis that i was notified by the health dept for the second time and salem houseing comission(which cleans lead in homes) and they agreed to clean the home with his signature. He refused and torn up my paper then threated me by calling the police all over him signing the paper so i can have a healthY safe living environment.Dayne Davis even went so far to tell me "I DISLIKE YOU PEOPLE" you people he has some neverve, my son could have died over his lack of sincerity and unsafe house. That he was aware unsafe, he lied just to recieve my funds and now my sons life is worth nothing, and i need help.

He also told me " I WANT YOU TO MOVE YOU CANT PROVE THERE IS LEAD IN THE HOUSE IF I EVICT YOU ITS YOUR WORD AGAINST MINE AND I CAN MOVE ANYOTHER FAMILY IN". Please someone whoever has a ear let him hear and whoever has a heart let it speak the truth and help me for my sons sake. My son is too young to understand why hes sick and why he dosent deserve to live in a safe environment.

We have a voice and needs it to be heard, please stop him Dayne Davis before he rents a home to another child this time the child might not be as lucky as mine he/she might not make it. My newborn is only 4 mos and has already been sick often but shes too young to be tested, will someone please help me.
