Petition Tag - supreme court
1. Sanjay Dutt must serve his prison sentence like anyone else
Sanjay Dutt is one of India’s best and most distinguished actors. However this should in no way influence the way in which he has to face justice for a serious crime he has committed. There cannot be a system in India where the privileged can escape punishment.
He has been convicted of the offence of using his privileged position to arrange a safe venue for a cache of arms and explosives that had been received from Pakistan by the Mumbai underworld to organise the serial blasts in March 1993 that killed 257 innocent people and seriously injured another 713. Whether or not he knew what these gangsters/terrorists were going to do with the weapons and explosives has not been proven, but the undisputed fact is that he knew that he was helping illegally procured firearms and explosives be procured and distributed by criminals.
His conviction has been upheld by the Supreme Court, and he has been convicted to 5 years imprisonment.
Sanjay Dutt and his family are very privileged parts of India’s upper class elite, with very powerful friends. His late father was a successful actor turned politician, as is his mother. His sister is a Congress Member of Parliament for Mumbai North Central.
There is a powerful push underway, orchestrated by connections of Sanjay Dutt to have him pardoned by the Governor of Maharashtra, B Shankarkand, (who apparently has the power to do this). The Governor of an Indian state is essentially a political appointee of the ruling party, and therefore there will be considerable pressure on the Governor to grant pardon to Sanjay Dutt.
This petition, directed to the Governor aims to bring together the voices of persons in India and around the world who think there should be ONE RULE OF LAW for all, and that the rich, famous and well-connected should not be able to circumvent the law in any way.

2. Support John King in his fight to protect union officials
We’re writing to you to celebrate the freedom and liberties we enjoy in Canada. We as workers remember the injustices against us. It remains our resolve to hold the employer accountable for injustices committed against our rights and freedoms as workers.
John King is a representative who works so hard, with such determined dedication and high ethics to protect our rights. Through our signatures on this Petition, we send a strong signal to the employer that we support our brother John King, and we demand that he be reinstated immediately.
John King is truly a proud Canadian; upholding our Freedoms, fighting for our human rights and dignity as workers in the face of many forces. He has our regard as one of our best reps, and has and continues to assist workers in their struggles for their rights. The employer targeted this trusted rep. We stand by our brother in strength and unity! The employer is having a quite a bit of difficulty scattering us like mice! We send the message through this Petition loud and clear: one for all and all for one.
Many of you who know John can attest he has devoted his life to fighting for our rights, to be given a fair chance, to be treated with fairness, equality, and human dignity by the employer.
Today Collective bargaining is recognized as a fundamental Freedom. The employer continues its attack on this right by silencing our voice! John King has been the strong voice promoting our rights to bargain collectively. What does the employer do to this rep? They unfairly sack this rep for speaking on our behalf.
We join in solidarity, through this international petition started in Canada home of the free, as workers advocating for civil and human rights. We join in strength and resolve to demand the immediate reinstatement of our trusted brother John King. We are sticking together and we are strong as one unified voice to the employer: Give us our Union official back, respect our rights as workers. Respect our human dignity as workers.
In the struggle for workers rights - our message to our brother John King through this Petition: John, keep the faith! We your sisters, brothers, supporters and civil rights activists, will not abandon you that fell behind enemy lines! We remember what you did for all of us and how you fought for our rights and continue to fight for our rights.
Please pass the Petition to any interested person, Union member or not, that is interested in supporting this struggle for civil rights, human rights and workers rights.

Justice for John. Solidarity forever.

3. Do You value the US Constitution?
Be it Known; We, the citizens of the United States of America, are incensed that, a Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, would openly state while in a foreign land, that the US Constitution is not a document a new republic should follow, and pointing out other Constitutional examples she finds more appealing, that are the antithesis of the US Constitutional premise, clearly shows her absolute antipathy for the US Constitution.
Whereas; A Supreme Court Justice is given the esteemed and profound responsibility to safeguard the US Constitution.
Whereas; Openly stating that the US Constitution is not a good framework to follow, while citing examples that are the opposite of the US Constitution in concept and premise, shows total disdain for the US founding framework, societal myth and documentation.
Whereas; The Constitutional protections we as United States Citizens are endowed with by Our Creator, and enumerated in the US Constitution, are put it mortal danger, when a person tasked with the protection of Our Constitution holds It with such open condescension.
4. For The Rights of Survivors & The Safe Guarding of All Our Children
Paedophiles and rapists yesterday won the right to have their names removed from the Sex Offenders Register in a landmark human rights ruling.
Appeal Court judges ruled sex offenders who no longer pose a threat should be given the chance to have their names wiped off the police database. The decision has outraged victims’ groups who fear sexual predators will commit further crimes without any restrictions or supervision of their movements.
The case comes after two convicted sex attackers, including a child rapist, went to the High Court arguing that being on the register for life was a breach of their human rights.
5. Support Hon Cantil-Sakauye for Chief Justice of Ca SC
On July 21, 2010 Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, of California nominated Hon. Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye, an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District in Sacramento as the next Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court to succeed Chief Justice Ronald George, who is retiring on January 3, 2011.
Justice Cantil-Sakauye, 50y a Sacramento California native of Filipino and Portuguese ancestry was appointed to the Sacramento Municipal Court by Governor George Deukmejian when she was thirty years old. Later, she was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to the Sacramento Superior Court and in 2005 Governor Schwarzenegger appointed her to the Court of Appeal.
Justice Cantil-Sakauye needs to be confirmed by the three-member Commission on Judicial Appointments before her name is placed on the November 2010 ballot for voters' approval and if successfully chosen by the electorate, a confirmation hearing by the three member California Bar panel will follow before she becomes eligible to serve a 12-year term as the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court
Justice Cantil-Sakauye is married to Lt. Mark Sakauye of the Sacramento Police Department. They have two daughters, Hana and Clair
6. Against The Arizona Immigration Law SB1070
Arizona ha passed a law that people think is racial profiling, to prevent this action from happening with in the us i want to start a petition to send it to the supreme court and the presidentt.
Hopefully the supreme court names it unconstitutional and the president can realize that illegal immigrants are here to make our country better, work and support this country not harm it and maybe the president may pass a law to help the immigrants.
7. Stop abuse of Indigenous Students
Abuse of Indigenous student Scott Parker, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
8. A petition to guarantee Supreme Court nominees will not use foreign sources in court rulings
Recently the United States Supreme Court has begun using international law and public opinion in declaring certain laws unconstitutional. It is not within the abilities of the Supreme Court to use such information to justify rulings, especially when there is not justification within the Constitution itself.
As there is a great possibility that many on the Supreme Court will be retiring within the presidency of George W. Bush, this petition would ask the President not to appoint any Supreme Court Justice that will not take an oath to not use foreign law or public opinion as a basis for their rulings.
The first amendment: " Congress shall make now laws prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Two court cases will be held before the supreme court to hear the ruling and to make a decision on the rules of publicly displaying the Ten Commandments.
The large Texas cases took form in 2002 when a homeless atheist man named Thomas Van Orden passed by the monument, which sits next to the American Flag, American Eagle, and other religious symbols subscribed by Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and charged it of being an unconstitutional establishment of religion. The federal district court rejected his argument, ruling the state's reasons for placing the monument were clearly secular. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit also upheld the decision in 2003, and Van Orden appealed the decision to the Supreme Court.
The out come of this case will inevitably change the way the Christian religion is held in this country. The ruling of making the ten commandments illegal to have in government buildings will trickle down to it being illegal to having them displayed anywhere in public. This will most likely lead to crosses being taken down off the sides of churches and the ultimate concealment of the whole Christian faith! This clearly violates the first amendment the courts are saying the ruling would be supporting.
Please help justice prevail in this court and help protect ALL religions in this great nation we reside in. Please take time to sign this petition and put forth an effort to keep the Ten Commandments in view of all onlookers.
10. STOP THE KKK
The KKK has the right to voice it's opinions, and practice it. But to put burning crosses in people's yards, throw threats, and still to this day, hang african americans, is not acceptable! We will send this to the supreme court, to raise awarness of this matter, to bring the KKK to real justice!
11. Against gay leadership in the Boy Scouts of America.
May 6, 2001
Having lost in the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in June 2000 that the Boy Scouts, a private organization, were within their constitutional rights to bar homosexuals as scoutmasters, homosexual activists retreated from the federal courtroom to re-deploy their forces at the state and local level.
In other words, homosexual rights activists are willing to do all they can to ostracize or even destroy the Boy Scouts unless the almost-century old organization both nullifies its pledge to be "morally straight" and abandons its central mission to teach young boys what George A. Davidson, a lawyer for the organization, described to the Supreme Court as "true manliness" - a man's responsibility in marriage and fatherhood.
Such principles may sound uproariously quaint and beyond corny to society's moral relativists, but they remain even now an anchor against civilization's drift into unfettered decadence.
