152. Providing a Safe Place for Victims of Domestic Violence

We've all heard the story of the woman who was put into jail for being or murdering her husband in self defence. Far often than not, these cases are classed as murder rather than manslaughter and although a majority of woman have had checkups with doctors or seen someone about the violence she has endured, problems around her fail to make it safe or possible to move out of the house where the domestic violence takes place.

Children, a place to live, not being allowed to leave and threats on family are many reasons why this task is near impossible to some. Not that we can do something for each one of these scenarios, we need more protection and intermission to help children and husband or wives to get out of a dangerous enviroment, with no fear of where to live and what will happen if they are taken away from their home securities.

154. Help Support EMT Ambulance in Massillon

City of Massillon is trying to put emt ambulance out of business. EMT Ambulance operates out of The city of Massillon on the South West side of town.

By shutting the doors to this company this is not only leaving professionally train staff out of work, but its going to only leave Massillon residents with only one private ambulance company to assist with all there needs.

As a tax payer you should have the right to have choices. If EMT's door close you will only have stark summit ambulance to transport. This means stark summit will have to cover the entire city. Please help support Emt ambulance.

155. Support Mansion House Paintball

Mansion House Paintball field is owned by a local farmer whose farm has been in operation since 1939. This farmer has opened a portion of his property to paintball after seeing that there had been a vast amount of "painting" by the local teens. Teens were shooting at peoples homes and other property.

Mansion House Paintball is a small Paintball field located in Delaware. This field is currently under going up dating in order to make it more appealing to players around the United States.

Recently, someone has submitted a complaint that this field should be closed because paintball is a dangerous sport.

As many Delawareans know there is very little for our children/teens to do in the form of recreation. Mansion House Paintball helps keep children out of trouble and gives them something to do.

Since opening the field the vandalism by paint has dropped drastically and is almost non-existent.

157. There is only ONE Tree Hill

One Tree Hill is a popular t.v. drama with many fans who support not only the television network, but also the actors who play the characters we love so much.

The television network would not be doing it's fans and supports justice by cancelling the show after season 6. The show has been successful since it's first season, so why is there any discussion or debate on whether or not to cancel the show.

The fan base for One Tree Hill is huge, and continues to grow each season. More and more people are beginning to watch the show and love it just as much as the fans who have been watching since day one.

So, we the fans of One Tree Hill believe and truly feel that the CW Television Network should continue to produce and air One Tree Hill after the finale of season 6.

158. Support human rights of Hare Krishna commune in KAZAKHSTAN

Please read below and sign this online petition urgently.

For years there has been a battle between the local government in Kazakhstan and an innocent ISKCON community. Based on the excuse that the devotees do not have sufficient legal permission and their religion is not 'traditional to Kazakhstan', the government have been endeavouring to destroy the ISKCON temple and devotees homes by force so they can develop the land for another use. This is a serious breach of human rights!

Workers and police arrived on 15th June at the village near Almaty, Kazakhstan, where the embattled Hare Krishna commune is based to demolish twelve more Hare Krishna-owned homes. "The houses were literally crushed into dust. By ten o'clock it was all over," said ISKCON spokesperson Maksim Varfolomeyev.

The temple, which the devotees have been ordered to destroy by today, has not been touched but the devotees fear it could be the next target. Human rights activist Yevgeny Zhovtis is outraged at the continuing destruction. "The authorities are showing that they will do what they want, despite the international outrage at the earlier demolitions of Hare Krishna-owned homes." He believes the local administration chief "doesn't care about the political damage to Kazakhstan's reputation – or to its desire to chair the OSCE."

161. Support Personal Retirement Account

The Bush plan offers younger workers an opportunity for the same retirement security that their parents and grandparents have enjoyed. It is far superior to the alternative, which is some combination of massive tax increases and sharp benefit cuts.

It is a sign of the President’s seriousness and the responsibility of his proposal that he discussed directly the need to bring future retirement benefits into line with what the system can afford to pay.

Any PRA plan that ignores this necessary step will fall short of the President’s goal of permanently fixing Social Security.

162. More support from midwifes for natural births from caring, understanding midwifes

Being a mum of 2, my firstborn son was born by elective caesarean due to lack of midwifery support. He was breech from 30 weeks+ and it was left too late for an ECV (turning of the baby) to work.
It was due to this midwifes late referal that the ECV failed, and the caesarean was pushed upon me.

There should be more support for women to labour naturally, even if caesarean is needed the woman should at least go into labour first. Breech births are heard of and is possible yet i was practically forced to make the caesarean choice.

164. Right to the suicide médicalement assisted

The euthanasia is liable in France 30 year old of prison for assassination. Let us heighten society's awareness of legal Assistance with suicide as accepted for extreme cases.

To avoid the therapeutic prolonging life by technological means to allow those which express the desire expressly of it to obtain a help activates to die by the vote of a law of de-penalization of the euthanasia.

Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, the State of Oregon, Australia, had courage to legislate to make it possible to finish its life in a human and worthy way.

For any being capable of understanding, let us prevent human beings suffering unnecessarily. Let us heighten society's awareness of a legal assistance for compassionate suicide.

No one is safe from suffering one day from an incurable disease or an unbearable handicap and, for this reason, to clearly wish to put an end to life. Many people fear to find themselves one day at the hospital, unconscious or in a despaired state, and then to be connected for one period prolonged with apparatuses which artificially maintain them in life. They fear also the useless operations and the ineffective medicamentous treatments. The spectrum of a medicine mechanized without heart frightens them. Not to be at this dehumanized medicine mercy,
there is a well-tried solution :
a declaration of will to die in dignity, recognized juridically. So that such a declaration be valid, it is necessary, on the one hand, that its text be written by experienced specialists, so that it be deprived of ambiguity and be of a constraining nature. In addition, it is necessary to make respect the Declaration of will, if necessary, against the opposition of others, by legalization.

To avoid the therapeutic eagerness to allow those which express the desire expressly of it to obtain a help activates to die by the vote of a law of de-penalization of the euthanasia.
Vincent Imbert in France asked for the choice of die. His mother “helped” him to shorten her sufferings by managing a lethal product to him. By denouncing the therapeutic eagerness and while protesting against the clandestinity of the practices which lead to medicalized death, the team of reanimation of the hospital of Berck disconnected the respirator artificial and publicly asserted the responsibility for his death. The right not envisaging, in France, the exception of euthanasia, they were continued and judged before a Court of Assizes.

The euthanasia is liable 30 years of imprisonment in France, for assassination. This out of date law, exceeded, must be re-examined and such acts must be dépénalised as in the Netherlands, in Belgium or Switzerland where “the assistance with the assisted suicide” is tolerated. The euthanasia must however be codified and framed to close the door with the drifts of a company in which the marchandisation is moving.

Inventory of fixtures of the assisted suicide:

In Switzerland, each year, some 300 people call upon the support of an association of assistance for the suicide to put an end to their day.
As regards assistance with the suicide, Switzerland makes legal figure of exception in the middle of Europe. Indeed, unlike the Netherlands or of Belgium, the Confederation did not unpenalised the active euthanasia.
On the other hand, in accordance with article 115 of the Penal code, it does not condemn the assistance to the suicide practiced “without egoistic reasons”.

But for that, associations must respect a certain number of criteria. For example capacity of understanding of the patients.

To avoid any unexpected increase, if this condition is met, these associations are authorized to provide to the candidate with the suicide a potion containing sodium pentobarbital, a barbiturate. But to avoid any unexpected increase which would make slip the assistance with the suicide in direct active euthanasia, prohibited in Switzerland, it is imperative that the patient takes itself the lethal beverage. In Switzerland, two associations – Exit and Dignitas – support, each one with its way, the candidates with the suicide.

Exit limits itself to assist people living in Switzerland and presenting physical diseases.

While Dignitas deals with people of all nationalities and agrees to give the fatal potion to patients suffering from psychic diseases. A request on two is refused. Associations affirm to refuse at least 50% of the requests for assistance to the suicide which are addressed to them. Two associations make a preliminary study of the medical file of the people who request their assistance. They generally claim time for consideration. As well as a written request of the patient in addition, they draw up a detailed protocol of the final phase of their intervention. All the documents are given to the authorities of police force after the death of the person.

Animals Australia firmly believes that the vast majority of Australians, once fully aware of the suffering of pigs in factory farms, will vote for change through the choices that they make. Informing them is crucial.

Our current advertisements and billboards which have assisted us to launch the savebabe.com campaign have been funded through the donations of caring Australians.

However, this is only the beginning - we need to reach every Australian.

In a recent edition of the British “Guardian Weekly” internationally renowned naturalist Lyall Watson commented about pigs, " I know of no other animals that are more consistently curious, more willing to explore new experiences, more ready to meet the world with open-mouthed enthusiasm".

Savebabe.com will work towards ensuring that these animals are provided with the world that they are meant to live in – not the one devoid of hope and sunshine that they currently endure in Australia.

167. Against Jade Goody's Continued Support in Heat Magazine

A petition against 'Heat Magazine's' continued support and endorsement of self confessed 'racist bully' Jade Goody, who victimised Shilpa Shetty in this year's edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

By continuing to support and promote Ms Goody, Heat Magazine is sending out an appalling message to young people that they can racially victimise others and continue to have a prosperous, media-limelit career. Ms Goody's career solely grew from the promotion and publication of such magazines as Heat.

A signature to this petition is an affirmation of agreement that self confessed racist bullies should not be seen to prosper from their appalling conduct, as Jade Goody is through the continued promotion and support of Heat Magazine.

Heat Magazine, send out the right message to young people in this country - Stop promoting Jade Goody.

Polar bears really need our help: according to government studies in recent months, more and more are starving to death, and more and more of their babies are dying before reaching adulthood. In fact, of polar bears studied between 1990 and last spring, only 25 cubs per 100 females survived. That's less than half the survival rate of polar bear cubs studied from 1967 to 1989!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting public comments regarding the listing of polar bears as a "Threatened" species. In just 5 minutes, you can send in your public comment - just sign this petition.

172. Justice for Imran Campaign

Imran Rashid, a 28 year old British-born Muslim from Middlesbrough has been unlawfully captured and incarcerated in a mental hospital without any reason or warning. The hospital has shown no interest in Imran’s welfare and safety and are holding him against his wish, in order to punish him in pursuit of their vendetta against him.

They show little empathy, overrule and dismiss his feelings. Imran’s life is in danger and the power to help rescue and save him is in your hands, so please help by signing this petition.

The hospital medical team are of no comfort or assistance, Imran has no trust in anyone of them and is requesting immediate removal to some where neutral and safe, both Imran and the family feel those responsible for his care and treatment are bias and discriminatory and could be danger to Imran’s life by provoking him into committing suicide. His human rights are not valued and the family has been offered little or no support. The hospital atmosphere is unwelcoming as staff give the impression they are superior, authoritarian and powerful. The family is very concerned about the threats made by the hospital that “Imran will never be released”.

This case is well known by all agencies and black professionals, who instead of helping, are simply passing it on to other agencies, wrongly assuming that it does not concern them or their professional remits. The family feel helpless and powerless in the face of institutional conspiracy and bias by the NHS Mental Health Trust which has little or no knowledge and understanding of mental health needs of Ethnic Minority and Muslim patients. Even the government is aware of the failure and inadequate treatment and service provisions for BME Communities in England (04 October 2006 Black & Minority Mental Health report).

Please Help! Can you imagine what you would feel and do if your loved one was locked-up in a mental institution, without any reason, or any independent support & representation – What would you do if your plea for help fell on deaf ears whilst the world just stood by watching your pain & suffering? Parents & friends of Imran Rashid have launched a campaign for “JUSTICE FOR IMRAN” and are humbly requesting your help and support.

173. SJCC ECS Closures Letter to the Board

To all full-time ECS families:

We are all aware of the unprecedented number of full-day and 3pm school closures this year, and we have individually and collectively tried to work with the administration to revise this year's ECS calendar and increase the days of full-time care provided. Unfortunately, the solutions offered by the administration thus far have been unacceptable. Several families have come together to write a letter to the JCC Board of Directors to present at their next meeting on Tuesday, November 28th. We believe that the Board is unaware of the changes, and we are asking for their support in pursuading the ECS administraton to provide childcare during non-holiday closures. We are also hoping that the Board will help ensure that such calendar issues are avoided in the future.

Please review the attached letter and indicate your support by signing via this online petition tool. It is critical that we (full-time families) present a unified voice to the administration and to the board. We are circulating the letter to nine full-time classrooms and anticipate strong support.

Thanks in advance for your support. And please feel free to contact any of the letter's authors with feedback or questions.

Shalom,
Liz Friedman, Lam Nguyen, Deborah Schneider, Rachel Schwartz, and Ilyse Wagner

175. Bring Back Starting Over

This is a television show that had a lot of moral meaning to it.

This being a show, which focused on 6 different women living in the same house together, making changes to their lives, and working toward achieving a life goal. The women have the support of each other, as well as the support and motivation of their life coaches, assisting them toward achieving their life goals.

"Starting Over" has allowed countless people to relate to the life issues (e.g. - money, love, health, relationships, etc.), which the actual women, who participated in the life-changing process were dealing with. This show has even inspired people to make changes in their lives, as have these actual women.

177. keep JROTC in SF

JROTC has been a part of the San Francisco high schools for about 90 years, but as of November 14, 2006, the school board has decided to take it away from the high schools. The main concerns against JROTC is about the war and how JROTC is related to the ARMY. However, what people lack is knowledge and experience in the program.

Although JROTC is based on the ARMY, JROTC is a totally different program than what is learned in the ARMY and ROTC in college. It is true that we march, drill, and learn some ARMY values, but this is by no means a place of recruitment.

There is commitment like any other sports team, responsibility like a summer job, leadership like student government, community service like a volunteer club, first aid and CPR. Most importantly, there is a sense of family-- a bringing of everyone together.

"JROTC has been more than just a place of leadership, teamwork, camarderie, skill, safety, etc... This is what I'm good at. This program makes me want to be responsible, want to be a leader, and want to care for others. JROTC is for me. NOT THE MILITARY." (Vienna Luu)

For the SF school board to take away JROTC from SF high schools in the future would be ripping our family apart. There is no other program of my knowledge that has all of these features combined.

"Our opponents cling to 15 year old statements and glittering generalities as evidence, while we have over one and half thousand current tales, and literally piles of books and documentation in our favor. Yet these few attackers, most of whom have no connection with the educations system, are given equal credibilty." (Daniel Chin and David Ziman)

178. Support for recently fired MHW Wynsdey

On Friday the tenth of Novemeber Wynsdey was contacted at her home in regard to an alleged patients rights violation that occured, ironically, on Wednesday the eighth of November on the adolescent unit, Wynsdey's home unit.

There are more details to the actual events and the whole truth may never be fully known. To condense the situation to its barest facts and so as not to actually violate any patients rihgts I will paraphrase what facts I do know and understand to be true to the best of my knowledge. An adolescent patient was asked to take a time out. Some time while the patient was in the time out room the door to the tome out room was locked per patients statement to a patients rights advocate at the time of a PCH the following day. The patient stated that it was Wynsdey that locked the door. Wynsdey flattly denies doing any such thing.

Administration was contacted by patients rights and administration decided to fire Wynsdey, apparently without any investigation as to what might have actually happened.

With such action as the adminisrtation has taken in this matter it should be noted by all signing this petition that there jobs are as tenuous as the next patients accusations. You may, however, elect to be anonymous on the public display list on this site.

It may be wise for the employees of Las Encinas Hospital to consider finding a union to represent them to disuade any such possible wrongful terminations in the future.

179. Don't Let Our Mail Service Fall Apart

The US Postal Service believes it will save money and make America's mail service more efficient if they implement a plan they devised to close and consolidate some of their facilities.

This includes their mail processing centers and also small branches and stations. The result will be reduced customer service and delays in your mail. This is being done nationwide and the effects could be devastating.

Recently, a rumor circulated that the Gilcrease Post Office was slated for possible closing. If so, it will be combined with the Downtown Tulsa Post Office and all the customers who use the Gilcrease office now would have to go all the way downtown to pick up parcels, certified letters and registered mail. Many of the residents of this community are senior citizens, black, hispanic, homeless and poor. They don't have the means to go anywhere else to get mail service, and the Postal Service is not even going to give the community any opportunity for input while they make the decision.

Their plan for this community is to leave the PO Box section at the current location and move everything else downtown. Eventually, they also plan to remove all stamp machines and as stated above, if any customer has mail to pick up, they will have to go downtown to do so.

The Postal Service was never intended to be a profitable business. It's mission is to bind the nation together through written correspondence....and provide "universal" mail service for everybody.

Closing and consolidating completely contradicts this mission and should be stopped.

180. Don't Let Them Do This

Casey Jenson is my 11 year old cousin. From what I have been told, be it from lawyers or family members, my cousin has been restricted from all rights to see his family.

He has a very rare blood disorder, and is on his death bed. He was beaten, abused, made-fun of, and hated by his own family members, all except for me and my father. I want to see Casey again, I miss him dearly. I would appreciate it if you would help me see him again.

CPS has him in their custody, and he has been for a while. But even in their care, he was neglected. I'm not asking for custody, just a visit, even if it is a supervised one. I just want to see him again. Please help.
