61. FLORIDA GULF COAST UNIVERSITY PETITION FOR A TOBACCO-FREE INITIATIVE
We, the students, staff and faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University, care about our health and the health of those around us. Therefore, we support efforts to make Florida Gulf Coast University a tobacco-free campus.
We are aware of the dangers tobacco use poses on those who use it and those who are involuntarily exposed to it. These problems are completely avoidable. Secondhand smoke is a known killer and a hazard that we prefer to avoid while entering or leaving our campus buildings.
We view this educational institution as a place where knowledge is shared, discussed and integrated into our daily lives, a place that accepts scientific proof and adapts with it, as needed. Yet, our current campus tobacco policy seems at odds with nearly all of the current scientific knowledge about tobacco use.
62. Promte responsible pet ownership in Africa
Uncontrolable stray dogs in Africa due to irresponsible breeding and ignorance; puppy mills awareness highly recommended; our fabpet amagazine need support;
thank you.
63. Support the continuation of funding for chaplaincy
This petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House the National School Chaplaincy Program, built on the excellent history of school chaplaincy in Australia, which was introduced by the former Coalition Government in 2007/08 with a commitment of $165 million for its first three years. It was endorsed by Prime Minister Rudd who said “they (Chaplains) actually are providing the glue which keeps school communities rolling”.
The program offers pastoral care and spiritual guidance to all. Chaplains necessarily have religious beliefs which underpin their work. These beliefs are representative of the school communities the chaplains work in and they do not hinder chaplains from working with those of other beliefs or none. It operates in 1915 schools and enjoys strong support among principals, schools and in the community generally.
The Rudd Government has extended funding for the program, at a reduced level, until the end of 2011, after which time there may be no more funding despite the program's social benefits, sound administration and strong community support. If elected, the Coalition would continue funding the program in its current form, at its current level of $165 million over 3 years.
64. Tax Breaks For Child Supporters
Every year the United States Government authorizes tax breaks for useful, necessary, and helpful expenditures of individual tax payers. Every year divorced or separated parents pay child support that is not optionally and in fact very purposeful but cannot be deducted on income tax returns.
Since only one parent can claim each child, typically the non-custodial parent i.e. child support payee must pay taxes on income they will never see. On the flip-side the custodial parent, dependent-claimer, and support receiver gains tax-free support payments guaranteed by local courts.
65. Support CUSD 200 Teachers and Staff
In response to the petition asking residents to support a wage freeze and benefits cut for teachers and staff of CUSD 200, how can we in good conscience ask those responsible for the education of our children to take a paycut or have their benefits taken away?
This is a petition to help jump start the organization: Dance to give, which is a foundation to help those living on the streets to live in nice homes and to make their lives better.
67. Support Speed bump's on Winchester Street
I've created this petition because I was nearly ran over on Winchester Street and have witnessed so many times the dangerous driving and just seen the road being used as a race course.
There have been numerous incidents on the road and it's not long until there is a serious incident. So I need as many people as possible to sign my petition and support me!
68. Re-naming of Perry High's Baseball Field
The Perry Bullpen is seeking support in attempting to re-name our High School Baseball Field in the name of Head Coach Frank Gamble. Coach Gamble has coached in Ohio for 37 years and 20 years at Perry. He is in the Top 10 in the state in total wins as a coach (537), belongs to 4 Ohio High School baseball Halls of Fame, has a .614 winning percentage while at Perry, has the Top 12 most winning seasons in Perry History and 15 of the top 20 seasons.
Additionally Coach Gamble has led the charge in raising of $500,000 in financial support for our baseball program. This includes (New lights, New dugouts, Fencing, Batting Cages, Score Board, Grass Seed, Replacement dirt, Brick Dust, New Concession Stand and much more) We would like to petition the Perry School Board for approval in renaming our field in Coach Gambles honor.
69. Increased Awareness and Support for Younger Onset Dementia/Alzheimer's
I have decided to start this petition in favour of improving the current services available to those suffering from younger onset dementia. Many of you may not realise it is even possible to develop dementia before the age of 65, yet a family member of mine has this devastating illness at only 42.
It is hard to describe the exact feeling when first confronted with such a tragedy. Before I had seen the effects with my own eyes, I found it hard to empathise and to take into account how serious it actually was. To see a person you love in such a state, who only a few years ago had everything going for them - a wonderful family and two young children, a newly built home, a career - is dreadful and hearbreaking to say the least. We have come to accept this; these are the cards that were dealt to him. But what we shouldn't and won't accept is that there is very little assistance available to alleviate and manage this horrific situation.
People tend to accept dementia as a product of old age, but imagine having to accommodate and manage a person who is barely half way through their lives. These sufferers do not deserve to be cast aside and placed into aged care. They deserve to receive the same dignity that any middle aged person would require and expect. There is plentiful support for the physically disabled, the depressed, the addicted, the injured and the aged, so why not for this? It may be less common than other ailments, but even in it's rare state the severity and impact far outweighs the figures. For each young person who has completely lost thier identity, personality, and normal functioning, there are family members and friends struggling to come to terms with the concept; feeling woefully helpless, and failing to understand how this illness works. Too often we are faced with the questions, "What is he thinking?",'Is he suffering?", "Does he understand or acknowledge that he is ill?", "Has he forgotten me?". There is just not enough public awareness which ultimately leads to total frustration and isolation of everyone involved.
This personally affects me, and I feel that if there's nothing that can be done to fight this vicious disease, then perhaps the only thing we can do is strive to make it easier for the sufferers, families and children who's lives have been shattered by this. With dementia, the grieving process is ongoing. There is no solace and no closure; you're essentially grieving each and every day for the loss of someone who is still physically with you.
"Dementia profoundly affects the quality of life for thousands of younger Australians every day. Younger onset dementia is the term used to describe any form of dementia with onset of symptoms in people under the age of 65. It is estimated that younger onset dementia affects approximately 10,000 people in Australia today. The needs of this group are special because there is low awareness, even among health professionals, that younger people may have dementia. Due to this, there is poor access to services that provide care and social support for younger people and their carers and the condition can have a devastating impact on the person with younger onset dementia, their family, their children and their friends. People have a right to tailored dementia services regardless of age" - http://www.alzheimers.org.au/upload/YODCommunique2009.pdf
As it stands, aged-care facilities and private carers are among the only respites for younger Alzheimer's and Dementia sufferers and their families. Why should the middle aged be caught in limbo and grouped with the elderly? Why don’t tailored, specific facilities and respite centres exist for the approximate 10,000 early-onset suffers? Why should their quality of life deteriorate so completely for them and those around them, when resources could exist to improve the circumstances for everyone involved?
Please help push for better facilities, more understanding, less isolation and more funding.

72. Support zoning for expansion of community facilities by New Hope United Church of Christ
The City od Norfolk is trying to rezone property located at 115 E. Liberty Street. The property is currently zoned as Commercial and they are trying to rezone it to Residential for the purpose of building eight (8) single family homes.
The rezoning of this property will prevent the future expansion of New Hope United Church of Christ.

TO THE HONOURABLE PRIME MINISTER, JULIA GILLARD, THE SPEAKER AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
This petition supports the citizens of Australia with permanent or severe disabilities on the Disability Support, DSP, draws to the attention of the House: all citizens of Australia with permanent or severe disabilities on the Disability Support, DSP are particularly disadvantaged in regard to finding and maintaining meaningful open employment and must be allowed to retain their full Disability Support Pension, DSP without being unfairly income and assets tested by Centrelink.
74. Save Our Steel - Save Teesside Cast Products
Teesside Cast Products is one of the largest employers on Teesside.
With a history of steelmaking that stretches back over a hundred years, Teesside has been the backbone of Britain's industrial revolution and the foundation of its manufacturing base.
The loss of steelmaking on Teesside would deliver a body blow to a fragile UK economy and devastate the North East.

76. Support Honduras Elections
Canada has long staked a claim to being a leading nation in the promotion of democratic governance and human security.
The Inter-American Democratic Charter — adopted at the 2001 Quebec Summit of the Americas — stated that “representative democracy is indispensable for the stability, peace, and development of the region, and that one of the purposes of the OAS is to promote and consolidate representative democracy, with due respect for the principle of non-intervention.”
77. Grant Epsom's Local Regiment the Freedom of the Borough
++++UPDATE++++++++UPDATE++++
Dec 17, 2009
At a full Council meeting on Tuesday, Councillors in support of the campaign to give the Freedom of the Borough to our troops cleared the first hurdle to victory! In order for Freedom of the Borough to be given, a Special Meeting of the Council has to be convened to debate and vote on it. In the face of strong opposition from Residents' Association Councillors, one of whom behaved so disgracefully that parts of his speech had to be officially withdrawn from the record, a vote on whether to hold the meeting was won by a slim margin (16 vs 13).
This meeting will be held in January (date to be confirmed), and will be a debate entirely on the merits of our campaign. Although this is a small success for the campaign, our work doesn't stop there. It is now more important than ever that we convince our Councillors of the strength of feeling on this matter. For the Freedom of the Borough to be granted, two thirds of the Councillors will have to vote for it at the special meeting, so every vote will count.
Please continue to sign the petition, whether online or in person, and let's show the Council what we think of them...
++++UPDATE++++++++UPDATE++++
On Tuesday 10 November, the eve of Remembrance Day, the Epsom & Ewell Borough Council voted against offering the Freedom of the Borough to the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment - the local Regiment for Epsom and East Surrey, as well as the Regiment of Johnson Beharry VC.
The suggestion was made by Councillor Sean Sullivan, but was voted down by the Council, with everyone but him voting against it. If passed, it would have offered the Epsom & Ewell residents the chance to support their local troops by allowing them to march through the town when they return from Afghanistan. The full story was covered in the Epsom Guardian -
http://www.epsomguardian.co.uk/news/4732325.Army_unit__not_local_enough__for_freedom_of_the_borough/
and has recently been picked up by the Daily Mail -
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1236484/Youre-worthy-Council-snubs-honour-British-Armys-decorated-regiment.html
We hope you will agree when we say this decision beggars belief. Regardless on anyone's thoughts on current conflicts around the world, we don't think that anyone can deny the immense sacrifice and bravery shown by our armed forces, and the need to give them our full support at this time - not least in the days following Remembrance Day. Snubbing our local regiment in this way seems petty and small-minded.
As such, we are setting up this petition, as well as campaigning in Epsom and Ewell, to ask people to sign a petition calling on the Council to overturn their decision and support our local armed forces. Let's show these mean-spirited local and Liberal Councillors just what the local residents of Epsom think of their decision.
Thank you for your support.

Support Epsom's Local Regiment
Every year men are killed in action for no reason. And worse still is that the government once upon a time stated that they would pull our troops out and yet we are sending more in. Why? When there are men being killed and severely wounded.
This year already 94 men have died and for no reason other that the fact that they are there and driving around in unsafe trucks and don't have the proper protection. Just pull them out like the government said they would and stop the death.

79. Volunteers to become National Wildlife Crime Officers
The NWCU (National Wildlife Crime Unit) since operation 3 years ago have reduced their staff from 14 to 9 due to funding and have made only 51 convictions in 2008-2009 which is only 3.3% of the cases they dealt with.
Wildlife crime is on the increase but with only 9 members of staff for the whole of the UK we believe there is no commitment for the protection of our wildlife and its environment.
80. Support Reverend Gordon Bradbery
Having attended the church this morning, it has been made clear that more needs to be done to support Rev Bradbery to be retained for a further 3 years.
I have mentioned to the church that I will contact the Illawarra mercury to start a petition notice with the help of the paper. Rev Bradbery's work is also outside the uniting church and this must be made clear to the Presbytery. His work with lifeline, is just one example. The contact for the Presbytery is; Illawarra Presbyery PO Box Port Kembla NSW 2505.
81. Change Canada Child Tax Benefit Guidelines
When applying for the Canadian Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) Canadian Federal Income Tax Law is unfair to divorced or separated individuals with children who remarry or live common-law.
When calculating the CCTB Canadian Federal Income Tax guidelines use the new spouse's income in the calculation of family net income therefore implying that they are financially responsible for the child.
According to Canadian Child Support Guidelines the new spouse's income has no affect on the calculations because they are not legally or financially responsible for the child.
Canadian Child Support Guidelines state "The only time a new spouse's income is considered is when either parent pleads undue hardship."
http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/pi/fcy-fea/lib-bib/pub/guide/qa-qr.html#a6
Income Tax Guidelines state "Family net income is one of the factors used in the calculation of your Canadian Child Tax Benefit entitlement. Family net income is your net income at Line 236 of the tax return. If you have a spouse or common-law partner, their net income from their tax return is added to your net income to determine your family net income."

82. Call For Solidarity for Real Chicano/Latino Studies at MSU
Within the past decade, great strides have been made in Chicano/Latino Studies at MSU. Some of the successes include:
A specialization in Chicano/Latino Studies was created for the first time, open to all students of the university to gain exposure and expertise in Chicano/Latino scholarship;
A unique mentoring program was developed, led by students for students, as a way to strengthen community and promote Chicano culture on-campus. Over 200 students have participated in the Chicano/Latino Fellows program since its inception;
A space for Chicano/Latino Studies was created, expanding from a one-room to a visible six-room office on-campus to support student social and academic activities;
A stand alone Ph.D. program in Chicano/Latino Studies was created, the first in the Midwest and only the second in existence nationwide;
An intellectual community of undergraduate students, graduate students, and core faculty committed to Chicano/Latino Studies has emerged, engaged in word and action to social justice and collective empowerment.
These accomplishments of the past decade, preceded by at least twenty years of struggle by Chicano students at Michigan State, are significant for at least two reasons:
First, there is now a greater institutional presence of Chicano/Latino Studies within the university;
Second and most importantly, these accomplishments reflect an intentional process by the former Director of Chicano/Latino Studies, Dr. Theresa Meléndez, to engage in principles of collective decision-making and mutual respect, whereby students and core faculty alike had a voice in the direction of the program.
For all of these reasons and more, it is unfortunate to have to come to you now and express that Chicano/Latino Studies is facing a crisis.
The demise of the program began after the appointment of Dr. Sheila Contreras as the new Director of Chicano/Latino Studies in the Fall of 2008. With the support and encouragement of MSU's administration, Dr. Contreras has single-handedly undermined the last 10 years of hard work and collective effort, primarily by refusing to listen to the voices of the undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Contreras has even been unresponsive to concerns raised by core faculty members since her appointment, her own colleagues in Chicano/Latino Studies.
After being unsuccessful in attempting to share our concerns directly with Dr. Contreras, the Real Chicano/Latino Studies (RCLS) was formed in the spring of 2009 as a symbolic expression of opposition to the direction and current leadership of the program. Subsequent attempts to share our concerns were taken to the Dean of the College of Social Science, where the program is housed, and after no resolution, to the Provost of the University. Despite the concerns repeatedly raised by the majority of all involved directly in the program, the administration of the University has ignored them and continued to support the Director.
We are, thus, writing you today, asking for your help!
CONTACT PRESIDENT LOU ANA SIMON and demand that Michigan State honors the students’ request for new principled leadership in Chicano/Latino Studies. President Simon can be contacted by EMAIL at presmail@msu.edu and laksimon@msu.edu, or by PHONE at 517.355.6560. If you email, you can copy the State News at opinion@statenews.edu.
83. Help Legalise Paintball in Tasmania
The sport of Paintball should not have to prove itself to the Tasmanian Government any more. The safety statistics have been provided, the proof of their futility in relation to every other firearm under the act has been proven and the Tasmanian community has voiced its support.
Paintball in Tasmania has the potential for a very positive economic boost within the Tasmanian community and the tourism industry.
Paintball is an active and intense sport promoting fitness, team work, communication and enjoyment for all types of people.
Paintball in Tasmanian will bring with it the opportunity for a complete national competition as well as state and club level competitions.
To make this a success we need the support of the Tasmanian community and other communities around Australia involved in Paintball.
Please support Paintball in Tasmanian by signing this petition.
Thank you in advance

84. To Get Barack Obama to change his Mind about Michael Jackson
I am a UK citizen who is outraged about the fact Barack Obama will not consider giving Michael Jackson His Legacy title.
Even though 1993 was a tough time for Michael after the Chandler made false allegations about Michael i do believe the innocence from children is exceptional, and is solely and purely seen by alot of people and Michael loved these attributes gave "he loves the innocence in their playful smiles and wanted to bring healing in to this harsh and awful world we live in" Yet people still try to deceive their way in to Michael's Life and even in his death trying to claim the rights to something that they have no right to - Michael's property, dignity, pride, innocence, love and pure soul of which they had eventually destroyed a very gentle man.
In 2005 the same happened again only this time Michael was given the best gift any person could give him - Freedom from all haters and Bullshiters (tabloids) and found himself cleared of all charges despite a 40 years within the entertainment industry, and his good works as a fabulous humanitarian, Michael is still being betrayed and he should not have to endure such filth and ignorance from his fellow country men and people from all over the world too.
Recently, Toastmasters International Board of Directors cancelled the right for District Regions to host Regional Conferences.
The Regional Conferences, just like District Conferences provides Toastmaster members the opportunity to learn, network and broaden the Toastmasters horizons at a very reasonable cost. The Regional Conference Team made up of the host District, provides all the support and efforts at no cost to the Toastmasters International Board of Directors. The Regional Conference, to the best of my knowledge, has not lost any money and therefore usually either breaks even, or makes money for the host District. The only cost that may be associated is the cost for an International Director to be present at the Conference, but this can be decided by the Regional Conference Team.
This decision should not be up to the ID Board, but should be a decision that is made at the Regional and District levels.
86. In Support the public strike in Iranian Kurdistan

87. In support of the public strike in Iranian Kurdistan
August 19, 2009 is the 30th anniversary of Khomeini’s declaration of Jihad and also the launching of an enormous military attack on the people of Kurdistan in Iran. To protest the brutal policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), residences of Kurdistan have been invited to launch a day of public strike by several leftist parties and groups. In support of this initiative, we, the undersigned individuals, call on all lovers of freedom to support the people’s struggles in Kurdistan on this historic day.
Everyday there is an animal being adopted. But is it enough money to supply for the other hundreds of animals. Its not. Some shelters have to put down animals because of the little room in the shelter.
Some shelters can't even afford to stay open because of little money.
89. Hands off Cuba, Hands off Assata
Malcolm X Grassroots Movement is an organization comprised of New African/Black people whose mission is to defend the human rights of our people and promote self-determination in our communities. We aim to fulfill our purpose through various programs and initiatives we do in our communities.
It is vital that we come together to support what is just and fair. If we don't stand up in support of one another's struggles, despite of our individual efforts we will not as a community, go far. We encourage you to check out our website www.mxgm.org to find out more about the work we do.
We are campaigning in support of a sister by the name of Assata Shakur. Assata Shakur was a member of the Black Panther Party who currently has political asylum in Cuba because of her political activity while she was in the United States. Assata Shakur stands as a symbol of freedom for many people in the US and we'd like to ensure that she remains unharmed. We are appealing to the Cuban Government because we know that they have the power to keep Assata safe.
This year marking the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, we'd like to celebrate Cuba's historic achievement while also gaining assurance that Assata will remain unscathed. Please read over our letter and join us in solidarity!
90. Ask Michelle Obama to Meet With Autism Families
We would like to propose that Michelle Obama meet with Shannon Des Roches Rosa and Jennifer Byde Myers, two parents representing two different autism families' perspectives, and Rachel Cohen-Rottenberg and Lindsey Nebeker, two adults on the autism spectrum, to discuss creating an Autism Corps so as to address one of the most pressing needs of autism families and adult autistics: one-to-one in-home support.
While autism shouldn't be demonized, we need to be frank: having a child with autism is more stress than some families can handle, and being an autistic adult can be extremely difficult without in-home support. There often aren't enough trained professionals providing autism services -- and in areas where autism professionals are abundant, many families can't afford them. Those autism families and adult autistics have needs that take precedence over panels and promises and research; they need help getting through the day, and they need it now.
Michelle and Barack Obama have spearheaded a campaign to encourage service. Millions of energetic and idealistic young adults want work but can't find jobs. Our president has said that he "...believes we must work to guarantee that Americans with ASD [autism spectrum disorder] can live independent and fully productive lives and to assure that their families understand and are able to support a loved one with ASD."
We would like to discuss taking those three factors and combining them into a nationwide organization dedicated to training volunteers to aid kids and adults with autism: an Autism Corps based on the Teach For America urgent action model, with the goal of providing autism families as well as adult autistics in need with between four and fourteen hours of weekly care.
Autism Corps workers could be trained to help individuals with autism gain skills and independence, and have recreation opportunities. They could give their families some sorely-needed respite. They could give adult autistics critically needed help with in-home tasks and provide a link to the larger community. They could make a real difference for families approaching a breaking point. And, like Teach for America alumni, Autism Corps volunteers could gain a permanent interest and investment in autism rights and issues, thereby continuing to raise awareness of autism needs in general.
We believe that an Autism Corps model is the best way to support all families affected by autism. If you agree, and you think Michelle Obama should meet with Shannon Des Roches Rosa, Jennifer Byde Myers, Rachel Cohen-Rottenberg and Lindsey Nebeker to discuss the matter, then please sign our petition. Thank you.
