1. Repair and upgrade Oxford Street
The people in our neighborhood are getting very disgusted with the shape of oxford street from 4th ave ne to 7th ave ne.
I am petitioning on behalf of my neighbors. If something does not get done with it we will withhold our taxes and also start sending to the city for vehicle repairs, such as wheel alignments and shock replacements.
Our property is being devalued because of the street conditions.
2. End Homelessness by having a Homeless Awareness day in schools
I have seen homeless people on the street, but I never give them money because of fear that they would spend it on drugs and alcohol. This is not to due to prejudice at all; I would not give any stranger money because of this fear.
Homeless people are still people! One of the reasons why people are homeless is because they do not want to have to go into shelter because they do not want to lose their dogs. The answer to this would be to create more dog-friendly homeless shelters where the people have their own rooms where the dogs can be kept in to stop the risk of allergy in the other people. Another reason why people are homeless is due to not having enough money to afford household costs.
The answer to this too would be to use old buildings where possible and to build new homeless shelters, as well as to reduce household costs. Another common reason is due to family problems such as divorces and abuse. The solution to many of these domestic problems would be to promote the charity Samaritans more so that they can talk to these people.
If we do not help the homeless, they will be less inclined to want to help us if we ever need help for them. Also, we need to consider the people themselves as well. How would you like to have to sleep on a pavement all night and eat scraps and cheap food for your only meals?
As well as this, animal welfare may also suffer because they may sometimes get an even worse deal. This is not the homeless people's fault. Rather it is because they cannot afford good food and veterinary treatment for their dogs and live too far away from clinics that offer free animal health care.
In my vision, Homeless Awareness day would involve people from homeless charities coming around to different schools and collecting money as well as people who have been homeless before coming to do talks and answer students' questions about what it's like to live on the streets.
3. Do More To End Homelessness in the UK
I am appalled at the number of homeless people on the street and I am also appalled by the prejudice that these people face every day.
Things NEED to change for the better.
4. Petition for the addition of Mechanical Sweeping
Although we are a commercially zoned area, many transient people live on neighboring streets and in encampments. As a result our streets and gutters accumulate human waste, urine, needles, used condoms, hair, clothing, vomit, oil spills, paper & plastic debris.
Because the storm drains are clogged with trash we also have as much as a foot of standing water throughout the winter months. This all Results in a horrible public health hazard and a burden for the businesses owners, workers, and delivery couriers.
We need regular mechanical street cleaning as soon as possible.
The roads opposite Highgate Woods; Woodland Rise, Woodland Gardens, Onslow Gardens and Cranley Gardens have come under increasing parking and traffic pressure during the last few years.
The streets are increasingly used for car parking by those unable to park close to Highgate station and in Muswell Hill due to the introduction of CPZ schemes in both Highgate and Muswell Hill. In addition a number of trade vehicles from local business currently use the road as a parking facility.
Local residents have found it increasingly impossible to park close to their homes and there is increased traffic flow through these residential areas from non residential traffic. There are also safety concerns from the residents of this area many of which have young families.
We request that Haringay Council consider a CPZ for this area.
6. Support Democracy & Human Rights in Iran
To the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd,
On June 12, 2009, millions of Iranians, many of whom have friends and family here in Australia, went to the polls to elect their next president. Unlike the 2005 presidential elections where 48% of the electorate voted in run-off elections to choose Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, many more voters were expected to and did turn-out to vote against his disastrous domestic and foreign policies.
However, even before a tally of the votes could be taken Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his supporters declared victory with 63% of the popular vote. With lightning speed his rival’s campaign headquarters were closed, many of their leaders were arrested and a heavy police and paramilitary presence was brought into the streets. Are these the actions of someone who has won a free and fair election?
Although the world does not yet realize it, on June 13th we witnessed an unprecedented coup d’état veiled in the guise of a popular election. If this coup is allowed to succeed and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) are allowed to consolidate their power, not only will they pose a danger to the Iranian people, but will also become a much greater threat to the outside world.
The implications of this coup are far-reaching. Whereas before the hard-line elements in the IRGC were held in check by the Supreme Leader and the clergy, over the last four years they have come to assume a position of immense power in Iran.
This coup represents the consummation of their new position in the state, and has grave implications for the Iranian people, Australia and the Western world.
7. Permit Parking on Woodridge Road
This is a notice to request Permit parking on Woodridge Road. Lately, the commuters to NYC have been parking on this street and this has made the driving conditions dangerous due to blind spots.
Additionally, the snow ploughs cannot clear the streets with cars parked on narrow streets.
Enclosed is a petition to be circulated to those affected residents.
If you have further questions, please contact Alok Shah (ashah75@gmail.com) or Carlos Ramirez (crami21221@aol.com)
8. Protest against Ahmadinejad election coup in Iran - 13 june 2009
The tenth president election in Iran on June, 13th,
and the election coup, and the afterward events.
9. Preserve Bay Ridge Neighborhood
BCJ HOLDS, L.L.C. (Allen Edwin Homes) has applied to the Charter Township of Texas Planning Commission for approval of a Planned Unit Development (PUD). This proposal includes a request for rezoning (currently zoned R-2) due to substantial reductions in lot size. The reduction in lot size is due to their proposed 38.3 acres of preserved open space, including a perimeter trail that may provide beneficial neighborhood transition zones, and help retain access to open space recreation that Bay Ridge families currently enjoy in the undeveloped lot/field. Without the rezoning, the development would not include preserved open space, and would include a 216-lot subdivision (Comparison Plan), as opposed to a 237-lot subdivision (Preliminary Concept Development Plan). The Concept Plan, which includes the preserved open space, also calls for retaining the Bay Ridge Road and Bentley Drive cul-de-sacs.
However, the Township, County Road Commission, and Fire Department may or may not approve the retention of the two cul-de-sacs, in part based on Section 16-82(a)(1)b of the Zoning Ordinance under Subdivision Control, which requires that “the arrangement of streets shall provide for a continuation of existing streets from adjoining areas in the new subdivision.”
This Preserve Bay Ridge Neighborhood petition seeks approval from the Charter Township of Texas Planning Commission not to extend Bay Ridge Road and Bentley Drive into the new Concept Plan development, and to upgrade the existing cul-de-sacs as per recommendations provided by Thomas C. Wheat in his April 13, 2009 memorandum to the Planning Commission. This request is based on three important factors:
1. Concern that extending Bay Ridge Road and Bentley Drive as through-streets would degrade the quality of life, and decrease the safety of residents and children in the Bay Ridge neighborhood by increasing the speed and frequency of traffic to and from the new Rudgate Trails development.
2. Despite the lot size variance for the Concept Plan, we believe that integrating open space, or “green infrastructure,” in subdivision developments provides substantial quality of life and environmental benefits, including, but not limited to access to recreation lands; natural storm water runoff filtration and retention; wildlife habitat; and scenic beauty.
3. An adequate transition zone would help preserve the character and identity of the respective neighborhoods.
10. Support the Hobos in Canada and the US
Hobos are everywhere. From the street to alleys to trains they are very alone and cold. They starve and have no money and went from riches to rags. They drive their Wal-Mart shopping carts in dark, cold alleys looking for money and shelter and food. Please support the hobos.
11. Bring back Streets Magnum Chocolate Biscuit flavour
The Streets Magnum range does not currently have a flavour that has chocolate icecream on the inside. This flavour was unique without being complicated with syrups.
It had chocolate icecream and the chocolate coating had chunks of chocolate biscuit. A double dessert!.
12. Safer Streets For Hill Health Center – Columbus Ave. Office
SAFER STREETS FOR HILL HEALTH CENTER – COLUMBUS AVE. OFFICE
As a supporter of this petition, I am hereby requesting that the City of New Haven get involved in assisting to resolve the continual problem of speeding traffic that we are experiencing, hoping to gain the respect for the crosswalk that is in front of the Hill Health Center on Columbus Ave and Surrounding territories.
Our Center serves over 150,000 patients a year and it is vitally important to us to follow up with the safety of the patients and together as a community begin to make the necessary changes in this crosswalk zone. It would be devastating to have someone get hurt or killed before something positive happens and in order to avoid this, I sincerely urge the City of New Haven to enforce a method of safety (perhaps a stop light) for our patients who remain at risk.
Respectfully,
Marlo Rivera
Employee & Resident
of New Haven
1. Dis-Honest reporting.
All the reporting since last couple of months has been negative for Pakistan. Not a single time any thing positive reported through this channel. It is to the extent that since last 2-3 days in their english tx they are persuading Western public that they should stop all the aid to Pakistan.
Our opinion: No matter what ever rifts are within ourselves we never ask foreign countries to hurt Pakistan financially and economically. Only enemies of Pakistan will do this.
2. Disseminating Anarchy/Chaos/ Confusion:
Since last couple of months. As you can notice even in last 2-3 days all they have reported about protests and only views of people talking against present govt. We agree that Emergency/Martial Law are one of the most dangerous and horrible actions taken by any govt. We all condemn this BUT it does not mean that the so called media portrays like there is major unrest in Pakistan (when it isn"t) and it is at the brink of collapse. This is giving a very alarming and negative picture over here.
In fact you can realize yourself that all these Jalsa juloos are happening in front of the courts. Only a fraction of lawyers are involved or might be majority of lawyers may be involved. There is no other opinion that what ever is happening over there is not good. But on the other hand 99% of the country is open, school, colleges, factories, offices are open. Public seems to be not involved up-until now. This news can only be obtained if you call your home where you will find out that nothing is going on in the cities. We have not seen a single report which says that majority of Pakistan is calm and quite.
At this difficult time we need to advise the civil society / political parties / govt to resolve issues within themselves and join hands with each other to first fight this cancer of religious extremism and fanaticism and hold elections ASAP.
Actually media should play a positive roll to resolve the situation instead of puting more fuel in the fire. Instead media specially GEO TV is determined to de-stablize Pakistan at any cost to please their masters we don"t know where from.
The GEO reporters and anchors are physically and verbally persuading public to come out on streets. This is not the job of media to give an opinion. Their job is to report all the aspects without any prejudices and reservations.
We the concern American Pakistani citizens of USA therefore as the first action choose to UNSUBSCRIBE the anti Pakistani Channel GEO TV with immediate effect and announce to form a watch group to monitor other pakistani channels closely. Please join us in efforts to save Pakistan from this yellow journalism and blackmailing.
We will send a copy of this e-mail to Geo TV and ARY also.
Again, it's good to be a wise ulloo than a stupid loomri. (majority of us have PTV at our homes Al-Hamdolillah).
14. Require the connector road between Claymore Rd and Colleton Crossing
This connection is required by the Carrboro Land Use Ordinances:
Section 15-214: "Streets shall connect with all surrounding streets to permit safe, convenient movement of traffic between residential neighborhoods and to facilitate access to neighborhoods by emergency vehicles."
Section 15-217: "To the extent practicible, all streets shall be interconnected."
15. Increase New York City's Pooper-Scooper Fine to $1000
What a waste: New York City's pooper-scooper fine hasn't gone up since the Carter administration.
The city's first ordinance that mandated picking up your dog's poop went into effect in 1978. “If you’ve ever stepped in dog doo, you know how important it is to enforce the canine waste law,” former mayor Ed Koch said.
The fine for violating the law has held unchanged at $50-100 ever since.
Fifty bucks may have gone a long way thirty years ago, but it's downright laughable now. Get caught, and what's the big deal -- you'd lose the equivalent of a half a night's drinking money. With the cost of inflation, a $50 fine back then should be about $160 in 2007 dollars. Other cities have long surpassed even that amount. Atlanta, for example, hits poop scofflaws with a $1,000 fine. Boulder, Colorado, charges $500. With the possibility of losing that kind of cash, wouldn't you think twice about looking the other way when your mutt pooped on the sidewalk?
Santa Monica, California, by the way, goes as far as to order dog walkers to have bags or scoopers in plain sight at all times!
NYC Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty is on the right track: He plans to mandate the city's maximum $100 fine beginning this fall, then lobby the state legislature to amend the law (Section 1310 of the New York State Public Health Code) to further increase the fine.
Good for Doherty. Unfortunately his plan doesn't go far enough. He eventually wants to see a $250 fine. But why stop there? A larger fine -- say, $1,000 -- would send a clear message that failing to clean up after your pet will no longer be condoned and will carry serious consequences.
The vast majority of New Yorkers are dutifully picking up after dogs. It's the responsible thing to do. But some aren't. And in a city of 8 million people, and millions of dogs, we owe it to ourselves to make sure our sidewalks are free of smelly and unsanitary waste.
So if you live in the state of New York, please take a moment to sign our petition; help us lobby the legislature to increase the fine to $1,000. Sign it, and then send a link to all your friends.
16. Liquor Restrictions in Entertainment Venues in NSW
This petition asks the current practice by the Licensing Police of imposing blanket liquor restrictions including midnite lockouts, barring drink & entertainment styles on all late night trading entertainment within designated areas be ceased.
It asks for the numbers of police on active duty at night to be increased to address the wealth of late night violence on the streets which is not related to patrons of late night entertainment venues trading. Many times they the victims of this unrelated violence.
This petition seeks to support all Entertainment Venue Licensees who display good RSA practices to maintain the right to continue trading normal, approved business hours, regardless of location.
17. Start a Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program in Brazil
Similiar to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America a Big Sisters, Big Brothers program in Brazil needs to be started to prevent more children from going to the streets or into premature prostitution.
Also, to enable a closer bond between the huge gap of rich and poor Brazilians.
18. Neighborhood water system runs too slow
It has been about 3 or more months since our water flow to our homes has been running slow.
It was brought to our (neighborhood) attention that the water pressure is low because of the size of the water line is to small. We are not sure why all of a sudden the water pressure slowly flows. It takes a long time for water to flow for us to shower, cook, wash clothes, dishes, water the lawn, wash cars, etc.
Along with the water pressure our fire hydrants are out dated. Between five streets there are two fire hydrants. We have lost several home destroyed because of this.
With water pressure so low now, we are afraid if a fire starts, we could lose an entire neighborhood.
19. Give Street Children in Brazil a Home and an Education
August 8, 2006
Todo meninos precisam uma casa, uma educacao, e comida sobreviver! Se os paises nao podem supportar os filhos deles entao as criancas precisam ser adotato, ter uma vida melhor!
All children need a house, an education, and food to survive! If the parents can't support their children then the kids need to be adopted, to have a better life!
Get kids off the streets in Brazil!
20. New traffic light for road extending to 212 freeway
June 19, 2006
There are 3 cities meeting within 2 miles on one road. County Road 17. They are Excelsior, Shorewood and Chanhassen.
This road will be extending for several miles to become a connecting road to a new Highway 212. The Speed limits on this road are simply illogical. Toward the south side of the road where the road has a median and turning lanes it is 45 miles per hour. To the North side it rapidly changes from 50 mph down to 45 mph down to 30 mph entering another highway called Highway 7.
Where Excelsior is there are many homes that are close together and has driveways to what was for many years a low traffic road. Now that this highway is coming in the travelers are driving on it like it is a highway even though it is at Lake Lucy Road and Carver Beach Road only two lanes with poor visual sightways for people seeing it from the cross streets.
They are easily in a blind spot unless they drive over a crosswalk area for walkers and bicyclists to also use so they end up partially into the intersection in order to see easily cars on the main road. I avoided a 5 car collision by about about one foot of out car. Experience with this intersection I am afraid to even cross it when the coast is clear as some car might come bounding down it at 70 miles per hour.
There are several residential streets and driveways in that area like in Excelsior though fewer. The County upgraded a Police Officer to a more expensive car to give tickets. But I see the need is greater for putting a traffic light at either Lake Lucy Road or Carver Beach Road to allow for safe entrance and exit out of the road for drivers including many who have children they need to take back and forth to school.
21. Speed Humps in The Riverview Subdivision
April 18, 2006
Riverview Subdivision needs speed humps. The Lowell Police Department has already issued 5 speeding tickets in the past month in our development alone.
We have alot of children that play out in our streets and we need to make sure that our streets are safe for these children and homeowners.
Feb 03, 2006
This petition is for us skateboarders who don't have a place to skate. If you live in the Hamilton meadows then you have nowhere to skate.
I have been taken home by the cops for skating in the streets when i was doing nothing wrong and recently 9 of my friends got tickets for skating in the streets. The cops told us to go skate at the local schools so we started skating at the schools and the schools got upset for no reason.
We werent destroying any property or breaking any laws and they banned us from skateboarding on school property one of my friends got a dayy of iss for getting caught skating on school property when it was asfter hours and school was out.
The reason you need to sign this is because this is not only happening in Ohio this is happening allover the U.S. and I think that since the authority dont want us to skate in the streets that they should provide us with a local place to skate as they should with all areas that dont have skate parks.
There are over 12 million skateboarders world wide who actively participate in skateboarding. We want to skate.
23. Auto ID Stickers for Residents of Florida
December 28, 2005
As per the current town code, signs are posted on residenial streets allowing "no parking" or "one hour parking" only, whereas, discouraging residents to report a strange car to the police for fear of being ticketed themselves or causing that part of the street's resident vehicles to be ticketed even though we as residents live here and have full right to be here.
Residents' vehicles of Surf are being, or can be ticketed for parking past one hour on the street in front of their residence.
The ordinance should allow resident vehicles to be distinguished from visiting vehicles by means of an identifying sticker on the windshield which can be purchased for a one-time nominal fee at our city hall.

25. Prosecute Illegal Mexicans
In recent years an emergence of illegal mexicans have come to the streets of Brooklyn, NY and many other cities. These Mexicans cause many problems in the streets and take away jobs from citizens. Also they are related to many harassment of girls, auto-theft, house-theft, and many other illegal activities.
26. Litter Control - improve streets within our community
This petition is an attempt to get help for improvement on our streets within our community.
On Thursday, April 22,2004, Philadelphia, PA, Mayor John Street announced that money to fund 20 to 87 city pools and recreation centers are to be cut. Pleasant Playground is one of the recreation centers on the list to be closed by June 30, the end of the fiscal year.

29. Maintain Ban on Assault Weapons
Amendment 2 of the Bill of Rights of the United States of America states the following:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Assault weapons are killing machines, and have no place in a civilized world, let alone on our streets. Their sole purpose is to wreak havoc and create destruction, leaving corpses of the innocent in their wake.
