Composting not only helps put fewer material into landfills, which prevents pollution, it also can be reused for agriculture purposes and sold as a natural fertilizer.
Kingston, Ontario already has a green bin for every household which is picked up weekly. Organic materials go in these green bins.
Amherstview is already included in recycle and garbage pick up, so green bins could be done at the same time as well.
2. Change of Lecture Time for Strategic Marketing Simulation
You may have noticed that for Semester 2 2011 the Strategic Marketing Simulation lecture is scheduled for 8:00pm - 9:50pm. While for some of who live near campus or drive, this may not be an issue. But, for the remaining of us who rely on public transportation, this is a huge issue!
We are all well aware of how sloppy the bus system already is. There are only two busses that stop at the university shortly after the lecture is over: 1) 709 at 10:10pm and 2) 3 at 10:20pm. Each trip can last up to 30 - 40 minutes!
3. SOS - Save Our Schedule - Via Rail Commuters
We the users of the Via Rail commuter service in the Windsor-Toronto corridor were recently informed of the possible change in schedule of train 75 to a later time.
This change would be very inconvenient for those who wish to return to their families in the evening at a reasonable time.
4. Citizens Against the Seven-Period School Day in NEISD
We the students of NEISD, in order to enhance our education, believe that the A/B schedule should be retained, and not switched to a seven-period day. As it is now, we have four periods a day, alternating classes every other day. Eight classes, each 90 minutes long.
If it were switched, we would go to seven periods every day, each roughly 45 minutes long. This would eliminate the eighth class, making it more difficult to take electives related to future occupational interests. In addition, shortening the classes would increase the homework load each day, which would lead to a decrease in interest and a lower homework completion rate. This increased homework would force students to stay awake late at night to complete work due the next day. Students would have less time to study in class and at home, and general performance would fall. This would not be very beneficial in moving towards our goal of becoming a "Distinguished Campus," and having a 95% attendance rate.
Finally, with more periods each day, there would be less time for passing between classes. As it is, going from the top floor of one building, across campus, and up to the top floor of the other building cuts the current eight minutes close. If it were shortened, there would be many more tardies, resulting in more students reaching the tardy limit and getting in trouble even further.
5. More Routes for Charlotte Area Transit Bus Schedules
This is a petition regarding the new schedule change for CATS buses that has taken effect on Novemeber 26, 2007. The bus schedule change seems to have not been for the better but for the worsse.
The buses in the mornings run every 20-25 minutes which is not acceptable in the mornings and in the evenings after 6:30 the buses run about every 30-45 minutes.
As citizens who pay taxes and who just voted to repeal the half cent transit tax you would think the bus schedule would have changed for the better and not the worst. When these schedules are being considered who is planning them? Do the people who plan them ride the bus?
This is a concern because I am not the only one who has been complaining but one who has actually decide to step up and take action.
Two proposals have been forwarded to our local Brandon Youth Hockey Association (BYHA) to request the formation of a stand alone AA Female Midget hockey team for the upcoming 2007 - 2008 season.
Both proposals have been declined as an earlier survey of midget aged potential families suggested that there was not enough support to warrant a team. At the time of the survey very little information was known about what a stand alone team may look like and what type of schedule and costs would be involved.
A group of individuals with girls involved in Midget hockey would like the opportunity to hold tryouts for a stand alone team and offer detailed information as to what a stand alone AA team scheudle and costs would look like to those interested in playing at this level.
Tryouts would be held at the earliest possible time in September. Potentially the week players return to school.
7. Better Hours Petition (Longhorn Scheduling)
Ever since management has changed, there have been many conflicting issues with who makes up our schedules and how well (or in the case, poorly) they are coordinated.
Many have expressed our views in that the schedule maker has not taking into consideration many things.
1) 4 weeks notice to call off is not reasonable.
1b) Even when we ask off 4 weeks in advance, some of us still don't recieve the shift/s off.
2)Too many people scheduled on a particualr night. Meaning that we waste our time in making a measly wage, while management/corporate is paying several people the job that only a few can and will do.
3)Not enough poeple scheduled. Sometimes the schedule leaves out a server and thus making it difficult to run a full restaurant certain days with not enough people on the floor.
4)Some times the schedule conflicts with prior arrangements that the worker/employee can not miss. ie. school/class, second or third job, etc.
5) Many people seem to be too exhausted because they are scheduled too many shifts when they have other things to do/work on. ie. school, another job, kids, etc.
6) It is very difficult for an employee to call off from work on any given day sometimes because there is no one to work for them. Some times forcing an employee to work while he/she is ill or has other things to do.
8. Keep schedule at 4 periods for School District of Hillsborough County
The school district of Hillsborough county is changing all block sheduling to traditional.
This change neglects the students that have planned there next school year around block schedule. This change is going to mess up the GPA of the students.
9. Galileo High School: Tuesday Schedule
On Tuesdays, we, the students of Galileo Academy of Science and Technology, get dismissed at 1:00PM. Other schools like Lincoln, on their early dimissal day, which is Thursday, they get disimissed at 12:30PM while starting school at 8:00AM, the same time as us.
We don't need our lunch break at 10:51. That's just too early. Why don't they change the schedule to fit everyone's needs by taking out the lunch period and moving 5th and 6th period up? Lunch is unnecessary in such a short school day. If a lunch period is a must, then at least make it after 6th period. Then we can get dismissed from class at 12:15PM.
Those of you supporting the replacement of the lunch period please sign!
10. Improve Keystone Amtrak Schedule
Too much time between trains at Downingtown during popular time periods. Trains too early.
Inadaquate connections to SEPTA.
11. Abolish The New Schedule at Palmer High
The administration of Palmer High School decided to change the current bell schedule at Palmer. The new schedule would include two days of extended periods and a teacher collaboration period once a week.
Question: What is wrong with the present schedule?
Answer: The present schedule doesn't allow time for teachers to collaborate or to work individually with struggling students.
False. The present schedule gives most teachers two free periods plus a lunch period in which they can work with other teachers and struggling students.
Problems with Current Schedule:
No time for teachers to collaborate
No time for teachers to work with struggling students
o False, all teachers have free periods in which they can work with other teachers or with students.
Problems with the Proposed Schedule:
No time allotted for Terror TV or announcements,
On a block day, it is possible for a student to began,
class at 7:40 and not eat for five hours.
Field Trips are discouraged
Students taking classes at other schools or at a local
college will have trouble creating a schedule
Students who are taking 8 classes per day will lose a
class, because only 7 periods are offered.
o Particularly detrimental to IB students who wish to participate in elective or extra classes.
Proposed alternate changes to Schedule:
Retain present schedule.
Create department wide lunches/planning periods, so that all members of any given department share a free period in which they can collaborate.
12. Brian France should resign as CEO of NASCAR
Many long time fans of the sport of NASCAR have become concerned about the direction the sport is taking.
Recent changes to the schedule, particularly the death of the Southern 500 and the departure of Rockingham from the Nextel Cup schedule, threaten the history of the sport and the quality of racing.
New rule changes are also at issue. The points system created for the 2004 Nextel Cup schedule has put the legitimacy of the champion in question. Also, the new qualifying procedure seems designed to protect the popular drivers from outside competition.
In short, NASCAR is beginning to resemble a scripted entertainment program rather than an actual sport. The final outrage is that Brain France has instituted these changes despite the disapproval of a large majority of the fans.
13. No Schedule Change for next semester at the School of International Studies
The School of International Studies is planning on changing its class schedule for next semester. This has cuased some concerns and discomfort among the students due to the fact that the class schedules have changed from last year and they are becoming acustom to the new schedule that has been already in affect.
Also the period numbers will be changed, elminating period 5, and elminating a number designated for students advisory periods. Teh schedule will consist of, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with period 1, connections, 2, lunch, 3, and 4. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be periods 1-4 and no connections.
Students do not want this to go into effect by next semester, instead, they rather have it go into affect next school year.
14. During Election Years, the Celebration of Washington's Birthday Should be Moved to Election Day
Voter turnout in the United States of America has long been in decline, and its time that there was a change. We, the world's leading democracy, have one of the lowest voter participation rates in the world. This is what ultimately led to the formation of the bipartisan National Commission on Federal Election Reform headed by Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. Therefore, the need for reform is there and the creation of a Federal Election Day holiday is a viable solution.
A survey completed by the U.S. Census Bureau after the 2000 election found that of those who did not vote, a conflict with work or school was listed as the number one culprit. By moving the celebration of Washington's Birthday to Election Day, we can eliminate the usage of a schedule conflict as a possible excuse.
We, as a nation, will be able to celebrate a right made possible by Washington and his successors and honor them in the process.
15. Abolish Misuse of Grandparent's Rights
We would like to ask for your support for the abolishment of the misuse of grandparent's rights.
PA. state law enables grandparents to partial/shared/full custody in the event of a death of a spouse. This law is enforced with no consideration to how fit the surviving spouse is. The law also never questions the fitness of the grandparents seeking custody and visitation. In these laws we see a clear discrimination in two assumptions, one in that a widowed spouse is assumed not fit enought for the child's well being and the other that a grandparent is automatically deemed fit. The after effect of these rights being violated affect the child's social life due to the forced visitation and also may have life long psychological effects and the court order can stand until the child reaches the age of 18. ***Please note: this is not a petition that's purpose is to end contact with the grandparents and grandchild, only that a fit parent be able to decide when a child should be able to establish contact and that a fit parent and child not suffer the somber effects of a forced visitation schedule.***
Please after your name place a P for Parent/G for Grandparent/N for neither
16. We Want Block Schedule for Lake Dallas High School
Lake Dallas High School teachers have voted to adopt a 7 period schedule for the students and the student body does not want to switch from the familiar block schedule.
17. Unfair Schedule Change of Inuyasha!
Unfair Schedule Change of Inuyasha!
Those who are restricted during the weekdays think it is unfair that the time should change to four days a week. Inuyasha should stay on Adult Swim every Saturday at 11:00!
18. Bring Back the Old SLAM! Schedule on Nickelodeon!
On August 25, 2002, Nickelodeon premiered its SLAM! block. It consisted of the following shows: Speed Racer, Invader Zim, Butt-Ugly Martians, and Robot Wars. Later, a new show called Super Duper Sumos (an incredibly stupid show in my opinion) premiered in Zim's and BUM's time slots and Robot Wars was replaced with another episode of Speed Racer. These new shows are replacing good, quality shows like Invader Zim and Robot Wars!
19. Ocean View Bell Schedule should not change
Ocean Admin/Teachers plan to change the bell schedule next year (2002-2003)to:
0, 1/2, tutorial, break, 3/4, lunch, 5/6
PLEASE sign this petition in effort to keep the bell as it is now.
20. NASCAR should Bring Back the North Wilkesboro track
North Wilkesboro is a track with Tradition, and great racing. When NASCAR cut it from their schedule, it left a gap that no other track could fill. They need to bring her back.
NASCAR should bring North Wlkesboro back to their regular racing schedule.
We have been running a 4x4 Block Schedule at Valley View for the past 3 years. The adminstration is now considering changing this to a 4x8 Block Schedule. We are trying to stop this change.
