1. Ban Hydraulic Fracturing in New Jersey
Hydraulic fracturing, or hydrofracking, is the very unethical practice of pumping chemicals into the group in order to mine for natural gasses.
The main issue with hydrofracking is that the chemicals contaminate the water supply, and can potentially poison the tap water of families and individuals all over New Jersey and many other states across the country.
Hydraulic fracturing companies are not required to disclose all chemicals that they are pumping into the ground water, making the process unsafe.
The health, safety & human rights of South Australian Sex Workers are compromised/negated under the laws set down in the "Criminal law Consolidation Act 1935” and the “Summary Offenses Act 1953”.
Repealing these laws will allow for the human rights, health and safety of sex workers and the wider community to be protected & respected.
3. URGE EPA TO REMOVE D-LIMONENE FROM PET PRODUCTS!!
D-LIMONENE IS A DANGEROUS CHEMICAL TO OUR COMPANION PETS.
Dogs experiencing epidermal necrosis associated with d-limoene are usually in pain and systemically ill. Anemia and liver and kidney damage may also occur. Supportive care is usually essential until the condition resolves. Severe forms of this condition are similar in severity to what is seen in third degree burn victims, with extensive skin damage resulting in skin sloughing, depression, shock, coma and often death. See Kirk's Current Veterinary Therapy XIII 1999. pp.556; Muller and Kirk's Small Animal Dermatology 1995; pp.590; In studies & cases from Journal of Venterinary Medicine, AVMA, EPA, NIH, CDC, WHO, NLM, TOXNET, PUBMED -- D-limonene's health effects on dogs and cats have documented to cause eye, skin and lung irritation in varying degrees, also exhibited hypothermia, tremors, paralysis, central nervous system effects, respiratory effects, behavioral changes, ataxia, agitation, seizures, liver & kidney failure, septicemia and other life threatening skin disorders. This chemical is being used to satisfy the "natural" marketing ploy for pet manufacturers. "Natural" does not mean harmless. Its benefits do not outweigh the harm it can do. People love their animals and they need to be made aware of this potentially life threatening chemical before another pet becomes so ill or dies.
Dog and cat owners deserve to know this type of knowledge. I experienced it first hand with my dog Ginger what illeffects d-limonene can cause. Even I as a doting pet owner never knew of this problematic chemical.
My dog Ginger cannot tell how much she suffered or her fear of almost dying, so I will.

4. Support LAKE Action Group Initiatives
LAKE action group is a community of local people who are committed to creating an accessible and enriching Lake environment for now and the future.
5. Traffic safety improvement, 4200 blk of Harvest Hill Rd
Previous traffic studies performed by the city, suggest there is a fair amount of traffic that travels above safe and/or legal speeds on the referenced street.
As residents of the effected neighborhood, we express our concerns as to the potential risk for property damage and/or personal injury.
6. P Platers should NOT have to display P plates on car in QLD (Queensland)
As a law abiding P plater, I have found that when P plates are displayed, many drivers (including those with Open licenses) behave in a completely unsafe and inappropriate way around P Platers on the road.
Such behaviour includes: Tailgating, engine revving, overtaking at high speeds (near misses often a result), provocative behaviours (in attempts to start an illegal street race). Drivers will also not allow P platers to merge in multi-lane situations.
Having travelled with drivers who are holders of Provisional, Probationary and Open licenses, I have found that many drivers have pre-conceived ideas (most likely stemming from various media reports) about what kind of drivers P platers are. Unfortunately a few people have created a reputation for everyone else with the same licence type.
It has become really unsafe to drive as a RECOGNISED P plater.
This is NOT a proposal to change the licensing system (or the various restrictions) in place in Queensland, but one that requests that P plates DO NOT have to be displayed whilst driving. The various restrictions would still apply, and licenses would still show each persons licensing level.
It would still be acceptable for repeat offenders to have to display P plates (especially those who are place on their Green P's after coming off a suspended license).
7. Update the security at our schools and keep our kids safe
My heart goes out to everyone touched by the senseless violence that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary.
The unspeakable school tragedies and shooting rampages in public areas have occurred all too frequently over the last several years, and makes them seem less random each time.
8. Arm Teachers to protect Children in Schools
Since the year 2000 we have witnessed 77 shootings in schools around the US leaving 165 students and educators dead.
This situation is intolerable and something must be done to end the madness! We can no longer leave students as sheep in a slaughter pen, they must be protected in the only way murderers understand and that is DEFENSE!
9. Military presence at schools
In response to the recent tragedy at Newtown, Ct. we as parents (and taxpayers) believe there should be a military presence at every school across the country until appropriate security measures are taken.
As secure as the current systems may seem, the holes have been exposed in this latest act of violence. In order to stop an armed gunmen, they have to be met with the same at the front door. Recent census shows that there are approx. 3 million total (active & reserve) U.S. Service Members and approx. 100,000 schools.
This ratio shows that this is possible with 30 members per every school and in all reality, to ensure safety there is only 1-2 needed. Our troops as well as our government are funded through our tax money and it is about time we have a say in where it goes.
10. Arm School Staff
Stop blaming the NRA and blaming the responsible gun holders... stop trying to take our second amendment constitutional rights away.
Deputize all willing school teachers and staff, training them in proper defensive handgun procedures. Run them through a course at the local sheriff or police station.
Add a volunteer police station/office in every school.
11. Empower Our Teachers, Protect Our Children
To understand the gravity of the situation, you must simply examine the facts; no less than 259 school shooting related deaths have occurred since 1970.
Many Arkansans remember the incident at Westside Middle School in Jonesboro, AR, where four students and one teacher were killed. The recent Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting has once again showed us the vulnerabilities of our public schools. The deaths of children in public schools can and will be prevented with proper training and security. The added security this petition calls for would be provided by the people directly involved, the teachers.
Local law enforcement and skilled security professionals (most of which would more than happily volunteer their time) would provide the training needed and if there was a cost incurred the school districts would cover any and all expenses. I believe, teachers need to feel empowered and secure. This reassurance can come through proper training. It is important that all teachers working in the state of Arkansas receive a basic defensive course and hostage training focused directly on altercations involving firearms, knives and other dangers involved in school invasion scenarios.
The training would be designed especially for teachers and school administrators to further mitigate the risks posed to students and staff. I believe in conjunction with the training, personnel that excelled in these operations (as well as agreed) would also receive basic marksmanship training in small arms and be issued a handgun (provided by the state) and kept stowed away, only allowing the teacher issued access to the weapon. Individuals selected by the schools concealed carry program would be selected by the school administrators and the training personnel. In school districts that wished to do so the teachers with a concealed carry license could "carry" These individuals would remain nameless to students and other personnel. The classes would be made available to these individuals as well.
The local law enforcement departments and key administrators would maintain a registry of all teachers involved in the program and be required to provide continued training (annually). Response times for local law enforcement departments vary and the possible delays for their officers are endless; therefore, it is up to us, the competent and common sense Americans to empower our schools and help to provide an environment that reduces the danger to our children.
12. Require a Form of Class and/or License Prior to the Purchase of Any Firearm
When purchasing a firearm the requirements are lenient and lacking depth.
With recent tragedies we have witnessed the horrific events that are made possible when a firearm is placed in the hands of an irresponsible/under evaluated owner.
This petition proposes that as a nation we require a form of class and/or licensing prior to the purchase of any firearm.
Including, but not limited to, sanity evaluation, awareness, and of course gun safety.
With a form of testing in order to be licensed and able to purchase/possess a fire arm.
13. Putting Prayer Back in Public Schools
This is simply a request to put prayer back into the public schools for the safety of our country and the welfare of our future.
Prayer is powerful and without it, our schools, children will perish.
14. School Safety via Metal Detector Option
There are too many children and adults losing their lives to senseless violence in schools. All schools should be equipped with metal detectors, more security guards and more officers should patrol school areas to ensure some safety for our loved ones.
The use of metal detection devices can be authorized to provide building administrators with an option in the establishment of a safe and secure learning environment.
Metal detectors should never be viewed in isolation as an only option, but rather a component of a comprehensive school plan to maintain a safe and secure learning environment. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or prohibit the use of metal detectors at the discretion of the principal.
15. Certificates of safety for playgrounds open to public
Hi,
My name is Yolandi Enslin, my son Ruan was 5.
He was electrocuted by a jumping castle motor on 20 October 2012 at Stonehaven on the Vaal.
My son was declared dead at the scene.
I don't want my son's death to be in vain, instead I would like to make parents more aware of the dangers of public playgrounds.
Every restaurant/lodge etc has to have a liquor license, a license to play music and to show the rugby etc, they have to have certificates for everything but why not a certificate to say that their playgrounds are safe???
Our children's lives are worth that effort and I think that it should be part of the law, just like getting a liquor license etc
We need parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, anyone who believes that our children's safety is worth fighting for to please sign this petition.
We want to take it further but the Government needs to know that we are supported and know that there are a lot of people who understand and support our cause.
If you need any further information or would like to support us my contact number is 072 440 9184.
16. Move the Poles
The utility poles on Quan Ave in front of Tillman Elementary School are an unsafe obstruction in the traffic right-of-way.
These utility poles pose a very real hazard to students, staff, and families while crossing the street, driving, circulating, and parking, as well as during student drop-off/pick-up.
These utility poles need to be relocated.
17. Blue cards for Door to Door Sales, Taxi drivers and anyone dealing with the public
A new law needs to be put in place that all people dealing with the public especially when it comes to those who are approaching your home, should be required to undertake a criminal history check and also have a blue card.
Many people come to your home working for electricity companies and the like wanting your business, they can enter your premises and can be working around children. Especially considering that this is the children's home I believe that we need to enforce strict rules on who is able to come to our premises on a business level including door to door sales, taxi drivers, bus drivers and anyone else who can easily see that you have children.
I believe whole heartedly this needs to change before someone is hired that could be a risk to not only children but to anyone in their home. An international criminal history check needs to be made for those who do not normally reside in Australia also. All businesses requiring entrance to anyone's property should have a blue card and thorough criminal history check!
18. Implement and Enforce Child Safety Programs in Georgia School Bus Transportation
Georgia leads the NATION in child-fatalities related to school bus loading/unloading zones.
(source: National School Bus Loading and Unloading Survey).
1. GA Law requires fewer qualifications, less training and certification of local school system Directors of Transportation than that of a School Bus Driver.
2. GA Local school system Directors of Transportation are not required to implement "Best Practice" safety recommendations and GA Code has no clear enforcement and consequence policy.
3. Local school system Superintendents and Boards of Education do not consistently follow ethical or recommended best practices in dealing with student discipline and school system employee personnel matters - making decisions without analysis, discussion or review of factual data and onboard camera recordings of actual events.
4. The State-level school bus inspection process and requirements of school bus safety equipment (i.e., air brakes, safety lighting and entry/exit points) is of concern. Local School systems do not adhere to a consistent inspection-reporting process, which is readily available to the public for review.
5. Published articles indicate there is evidence of School Bus Drivers who fear retaliation (i.e., loss of job) if they report bus-related issues regarding safety or mechanical problems. If a school bus driver is fearful to report an unsafe condition - this has a DIRECT impact on the safety of children and the school bus driver.
6. Georgia does not have or enforce a state-level review & approval process to ensure School Bus stops (loading/unloading) zones are SAFE for our children - minimizing street crossings and potential for child injuries/deaths.
19. Ban Tractor Trailers on Highway 8
After the recent unfortunate deaths of the two young 18 year-olds (Dustin Peers and Chase Hudye) on Hwy 8 in August 2012, a small group of families from Elbow Valley and Lower Springbank got together. These families all have kids who were friends with Dusty and Chase.
After a couple of meetings, we established our agenda, which is to “make Hwy 8 safer for the residents and cyclists who frequent this road”. It became very clear that a divided, twinned Hwy 8 is years away, so the interim solution, in our opinion, is to remove the heavy truck traffic from this highway.
There are 3 other alternate heavy truck routes through Calgary from the west to Hwy 2 south, and the current Hwy 8 route is the only one that is a 2-lane undivided highway. To accomplish this, all it takes is some No Heavy Trucks signage, Provincial approval, RCMP enforcement, and your support.
Please join us in this worthwhile endeavour to save lives in our Springbank Community. Help us by please writing to our website www.NotOn8.ca, Rockyview Municipal Council, your MLA, the Provincial Minister of Transportation and our Premier.
20. Waheed Zehri must be allowed to stay!
We demand that Mir Waheed Zehri must be granted asylum for his own safety - NOW!
As a Christian he would face a very real threat of abuse, intimidation, separation, unfair working conditions, persecution, torture and a very possible death in Pakistan.
21. Save Our Welsh Cats & Dogs from Death on the Roads
FOR WELSH RESIDENTS ONLY
We wish to petition the Welsh Government to make it legal, once again, for electronic collars linked to radio containment fencing -(sometimes known as invisible boundary fencing or hidden fencing) to be used by Welsh pet owners to protect their companion pets from death on the roads or from other dangers such as chasing sheep.
In June 2011, more than a year after the ban to outlaw these fences became law in Wales, a former RSPCA Chief Vetinerary Officer & former Vetinerary Director of the Dogs Trust was found to be using these protective fences privately at his home in England to protect his own cat and dog.
Can there be a finer endorsement of the hidden fences' safety and efficiency ?
We are supported by Professor Tim Gruffydd-Jones of the Department of Clinical Vetinerary Science at the University of Bristol.
After several years of being legal in Wales, this practice of using boundary fencing linked to electronic collars was made a criminal offence in 2010 with up to 51 weeks in prison or a £20,000 fine for anyone found to be using this domestic containment system to keep their pets safe.
In the Draft legislation of 2009, the Government recognised then, that these hidden radio fences were entirely different from dog training collars and excluded the hidden fencing via a clause to allow continued use under certain criteria.
However, a blanket ban was implemented at the last minute on BOTH as "there could be considerable difficulty in policing the exceptions" i.e. it would be easier for the officials to adminster the law.
So our cats and dogs have to die on the roads to make the officials' work easier !
There were only 51 respondents in the 2nd public consultation, 29 for a blanket ban and 14 against. A small majority of 15 people.
In the 3rd and final public consultation, there were only 18 respondents, 9 for a blanket ban and 5 against.
A tiny majority of 4 people and from these results, a blanket ban was implemented across the whole of Wales.
Hardly a democratic choice by the people of Wales !
These invisible boundary fences or hidden fences are freely available and widely used in England, Scotland, and Irelands North and South...it is only in Wales that they are banned.
This campaign and petition is only for the reinstatement of electronic collars linked to hidden fences/containment fencing.

22. Add Sidewalk on Manor Way to 164th St SW
THE PETITION IS CLOSED AND HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO SNOHOMISH COUNTY. PLEASE CONTACT SNOCO COUNCIL FOR STATUS OF PETITION. COUNCIL MEMBER STEPHANIE WRIGHT AT 425-388-3494
------------------------------------------------------------------
Dunhill Terrace is a new development with about 139 units. The community sits North of 164th St SW along Manor Way and has seen a lot of growth, especially within the last year, and with that an increase in automobile and pedestrian traffic. Currently, pedestrians are forced to walk in the travel lanes of Manor Way to avoid the ditches and vegetation that come to the edge of the roadway. (Video of road at end of preamble). Manor Way residents are also concerned for the safety of the elementary school children that catch the school bus at the corner of 156th and Manor Way.
The Swamp Creek Park and Ride is a just a few blocks from Dunhill Terrace (even closer for those who live closer to 164th St SW). Because of the safety concerns, many of us who commute and utilize Swamp Creek Park and Ride are forced to drive this very short distance and not walk. Many residents also would like to walk to the nearby Fred Meyer and other retail establishments near the corner of 164th St SW and Manor Way.
Recently, it was announced there is the possibility of having fees imposed by Sound Transit for parking in the Park and Rides. This may force commuters to choose between walking along Manor Way, thus risking their personal safety to make it to work or incurring an extra expense to maintain safety and contributing to the parking congestion problem by driving their personal vehicles the short distance to the Swamp Creek Park and Ride.
Here are a few reasons why installing a sidewalk along Manor Way can improve our community:
• Safety for Pedestrians “Annually, around 4,500 pedestrians are killed in traffic crashes with motor vehicles in the United States. Pedestrians killed while ‘walking along the roadway’ account for almost 8 percent of these deaths”
walkinginfo.org/pedsafe/crashstats.cfm#areatype
• Increase Housing Values by improving Walkability Score. “Multiple independent studies have demonstrated that above-average walkability correlates to increased housing values”
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walk_Score
• Less cars parked at local Park and Ride

• Other benefits include: Economic, Health, Environmental, Reduced Crime Risk

23. County of Maui: 2 Speed Tables neeeded in Kanaio on Piilani Highway
The Auwahi Windmill project began construction on a stretch of land in Kanai’o along Piilani Highway they removed all hills to help ease the pass of the large platforms in transportation to the projects main site.
In doing so, they have created a long smooth stretch of roadway; normally this would be a plus.
Speeding has became a huge issue and specifically in a school bus drop off zone which is a 15 mile an hour zone now the cars are flying through at speeds of 40 -50 and 60 MPH.
There have two recent collisions and one fatality in the last year as well as in 3 months two pregnant cows were hit and killed.
The removal of the hills are having a severe impact on the community’s safety. As well as the wild life and ranch in the area. We are petitioning the county to install TWO speed tables in the 15-mile an hour stretch at the school bus stops on each side of the main roadway reinstall speed limit signs all long the entire Piilani Highway as required.
24. Remove facebook commenting on Roiworld.com
Just yesterday, Roiworld.com changed its commenting system to Facebook comments.
This petition is against the use of the Facebook comments as many find it useless, unsafe and just plain stupid.
Since the change many members have expressed their disliking to the new system in countless forums and challenges, with no result what so ever from roiworld.
This petition will hopefully show roiworld that the members of roiworld are completely and utterly against the new system of commenting.
We are campaigning to bring awareness to the dangers faced by the UK`s breakdown staff everyday.
Statistics show that over 1500 people are either killed or seriously injured on the UK`s motorway hard shoulders every year. With your help we aim to reduce that figure by campaigning the motorist and asking them to be more aware when approaching a breakdown situation.
We also ask that the Highways Authorities help in changing the overhead Matrix/VMS (Vehicle Messaging Systems) to alert motorist of an upcoming situation and that the relevant authorities attend a breakdown and stay at scene until the all clear is given by the rescue worker, unless an emergency call come in.
Road Safety for children has not been addressed at Botany for Botany Public School students, the pre-schoolers of John Brotchie Nursery School and the babies, infants & toddlers of Hippo's Friends Childcare Centre, all of which are located on Botany Road, Botany. Bay Street is notorious!
Road Safety issues need to be addressed urgently and a safe passage provided for students, pre-schoolers, babies, infants and toddlers and their families. The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) have a Safety Around Schools Coordinator, we will be making contact to ensure these matters are being addressed seriously. Both the City of Botany Bay and the RMS need to move fast on this issue. There are many obligations both ethically and legally to our children, to local residents and visitors.
We need to make a legally safe environment. This is a matter of urgency! A joint coordinated effort is recommended before serious harm occurs.
27. Bicycle Lanes for Toronto: Bicycle Lanes Save Lives
On May 26, 2012, my life was put in danger when I was bicycling in the Etobicoke region. An SUV with attached trailer swerved directly towards me for absolutely no reason. I was forced to maneuver over rumble strips and into an ending lane. The motorist then moved back into their lane and went about their day.
There are inherent risks to being a cyclist, such as being on the constant lookout for pot holes, cracks in the asphalt, and raised sewer grades. If any of these are along the path, we are forced to swerve around them and put ourselves even closer to our vehicular counterparts. In addition, due to their sheer size, if there is an imminent collision between a vehicle and a cyclist, it is normally the cyclist that is forced to maneuver elsewhere.
As it stands, the Toronto website claims that it has 90 km of bicycle lanes, yet the vast majority of streets are still shared between cyclists and motorists.
Unfortunately, cyclists are limited to the protection of a helmet, where as motorist are surrounded by plastics, metal, and have the luxury of seatbelts, airbags, roll bars, and crumple zones.
I understand that bicycle lanes seem costly because they reduce lane sizes and therefore increase congestion, but this is a matter of preventable injuries and fatalities. Cyclists are pulling their weight (literally) in order to be economically friendly and reduce their carbon footprint. Their reward for this should not be constant fear and anxiety to ending up in the emergency room. I am a working paramedic and see first-hand the blunt trauma and devastation that motor vehicle collisions can cause. People get hurt, and people die.
By submitting this petition, I hope to increase the awareness of the inherent dangers consistently present to all cyclists. Toronto is a leader in many facets, and if bicycle lanes were put on more roadways (especially larger ones), many other municipalities would follow suit.
I beg you to make your streets safer for those who strive to prove that cars are not the only option.
28. Stop violence against aid workers!
Aid workers, whether they be humanitarian responders or development specialists can face life-threatening risks when assisting others.
The threats are numerous and range from conflict, terrorism, kidnappings, assaults, travel accidents, exposure to disease, and many others. In the last 4 years over 800 aid workers were victims of security incidents.
The perceived politicization of aid has motivated individuals or groups to use violence and specifically target those who seek to help vulnerable populations.
29. Light Our Lanes!
Following a brutal attack of an elderly citizen (which made front page news locally), and other incidents in which people have felt scared and intimidated..people are now very anxious about the safety of themselves and others whilst using a footpath.
This 2290ft footpath is situated in a wooded area between two housing estates, and ends at a main road near a primary school, which also leads to local amenities.
Other than two lights at the top of the lane there are none other, and no other measures have been taken to ensure public safety within this area.
30. An Island based company should be doing the Charlottetown fireworks for Canada day
In the last 10 years the city of Charlottetown has hired an out of province firework company to do the capital region shows for Canada day and its winter festival. That company has taken work from an island based and owned company who employs islanders trained and certified by ERD canada to do display fireworks.
Do you think PEI should have an island based company doing its fireworks at least once so that it can keep money in PEI and buy local rather then an out of province the company?
PEI Pyro FX has a top notch record in both safety and service, but yet has never been given opportunity to do a pro show in the capital region.
