3. We All Are ONE!

When you look at all of the problems facing the world today--environmental exploitation, animal cruelty, hunger, poverty, greed, war, and many more--the fundamental problem can be seen as a fragmented mindset, one which perceives everything else as something separate from the self.

In the words of noted quantum physicist Dr. Amit Goswami:

"The ultimate disease--the root disease--is the illusory thinking that we are separate from the Whole. To heal the disease is to realize that we are Whole, that the separation is but an illusion."

Thus, the goal of this petition is to heal the fragmented mentality through promoting an ethical system based on the most fundamental, universal, unifying belief in the world: that everything emanates from One, Supremely Good and Beautiful Source, and, therefore, everything is essentially One.

This simple, universal belief has resounding ethical implications (e.g. we should treat all things with love, compassion, and respect), healing the world on a fundamental level.

This belief is so universal and so powerful, it is high time it receives its due honor and support.

So, please, take a stand with us and declare: We all are One!

5. The Time Don't Fit The Crime

In the year of 2012 alone there has been at least 10 young black African American males sentenced to do 10+ or 15+ or 20+ years not for murder, rape, assault, kidnapping, molestation, or any type of human bodily harm. They are giving this kind of time for small amounts of drugs, first time offenders with no record are gettin offered this kind of time for lesser crimes then what I stated above, so many of these young men have unfair investigation and trials in these cases, due to the fact that most of the young men families cannot afford lawyers or proper council.

They are treated unfairly in mount vernon il judicial system, this act of racism and hatred has been committed so many times until there's only elders women and children left to fend on there own, no fathers, sons, brothers, uncles or cousins. We want fairness and our family members back, time for change is now.

6. FREEDOM AND ASYLUM NOW FOR EDDIE MUBIRU

British Government threatens to deport me to face torture and death.

I am a gay victim of torture from Uganda now facing a fourth attempt by the UKBA to deport me to further persecution and torture and possible death. The UKBA is doing this even though I now have a Medico-Legal report confirming that I am a victim of torture.

In January 2011 an anti-gay mob attacked and tortured my partner and me because of our sexuality. The police came, but we were the ones arrested and thrown into a cell where we were sexually tortured by prisoners. A year later members of my family were part of a mob that attacked and set fire to my house while I was there alone.

I escaped to Britain in April this year and claimed asylum. I was put in detention and on ‘Fast Track’. I was refused, appealed and was refused again. I have twice resisted deportation.

The immigration authorities say they don’t believe I am gay and a victim of torture even though I have provided evidence from a former gay partner and a cousin who live in the UK, newspapers from Uganda with articles about me, written proof of my imprisonment and hospital treatment sent by my lawyer in Uganda, and a Report from Medical Justice in the UK, which concludes that I have “Extensive scarring, the pattern, distribution and nature of which is highly consistent with” my account of the torture and “Many signs of deteriorating mental health.”
Now the UKBA plans to deport me to Uganda on Monday 3rd September.

I MUST STAY. I MUST BE RELEASED FROM DETENTION & GRANTED ASYLUM. I MUST BE FREE TO LIVE AND LOVE AS THE PERSON I AM, SAFE FROM THE THREAT OF PERSECUTION.

7. Asylum Now for Aderonke, Alice, Freda, Zaina, Frank, Sarah, Ya and Esther Freedom NOW!

Asylum Now for Aderonke, Alice, Freda, Zaina, Frank, Sarah, Ya and Esther

Enough is Enough!

Stop Deporting Lesbians & Gay Men to Face Torture and Death.

This petition has been launched by Movement for Justice working with women who are currently detained in Yarls Wood detention centre. Aderonke, Alice & Freda have been organising from inside Yarls Wood, now joined by Frank, Zaina and Sarah to get signatures on their petition from other detainees and make their fight known in the press and public eye. Update: the MFJ Yarl's Wood group is ever growing, and so new names will be added as more women step forward

Homophobic abuse is more common than most people think. 1 in 3 LGBT people have experienced some kind of homophobic attack. Help to stamp out homophobia now!

Please help us to get justice – we face deportation orders from the UKBA back to our different and various Homophobic African countries namely Nigeria, Cameroon and Uganda where Homosexuality is criminalised and widely frowned at by the society.

The UKBA is subjecting us to mental and emotional torture. It refuses to accept that we are lesbians, despite all the bundles of evidences we have provided, but it is fully aware that we are being abused just because we are lesbians by some of the detainees in Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre who come from our own countries. That will make us more vulnerable to persecution if we are deported.

The UKBA is cynically exposing us to this abuse, which includes repeated verbal insults and serial humiliation that has become physically threatening.

The UKBA allows a pastor to operate in Yarl’s Wood who constantly uses derogatory words and prayers against LGBT people. The UKBA is responsible for allowing this pastor (Pastor Fatima) to whip up homophobia in Yarl’s Wood, and it knows that this is just the tip of the iceberg of the tortures we will be exposed to if we are deported from Britain.
These include risks such as community violence, rape, extortion and other forms of sexual assault particularly if imprisoned if following been forcefully returned to these hostile Homophobic environments.

Update: Because of the action of the now 30 women of the Yarls Wood MFJ group, the detainee who was operating as a paster, preaching her homophobic abuse form the pulpit has been removed form the centre - Action must be kept up so that all the women are freed 20/09/12

We are particularly at danger of being killed by members of the society as we will not be able to get protection from the governments of our individual country who already criminalise Homosexuality – our sexual orientation.

Please sign our petition and help us spread the word...

8. Stop Hate Crimes: Americans have had enough!

Hate crimes are probably some of the most evil of all crimes. Everyone loathes them. Someone attacks you simply because of your skin color, or culture. Someone may want you to die just because of it.

Usually, most racist people are too cowardly to commit a hate crime. They'll usually talk about how "they want to eradicate this ethnic group", or "I hate this ethnic group", but never actually are open about it and never commit anything. However, when a racist person actually decides to commit a hate crime on a large level, it can lead to tragedy.

On August 5, 2012, Wade Michael Page did the unthinkable. He actually went to a local Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, armed with a gun, and started shooting. This is a nightmare that Americans have dreaded. A massacre where all the victims are of one ethnic group and were targeted specifically because of their ethnicity. Wade Michael Page killed six people and injured three others before killing himself. Wade Michael Page was a known white supremacist who lead a Nazi band.

This is not the first time this has happened. Similar events have happened in the past.

In 1999, Budford O. Furrow Jr attacked a predominately Jewish-attended day care center, killing several, and killed a Filipino mail carrier.

In 2006, Naveed Afzal Haq killed 1 person and injured 5 others in a shooting at the Seattle Jewish Federation in the Seattle neighborhood of Belltown. This was because of his hatred of Jews and Israel.

In 2009, James von Brunn tried to start a massacre at the Washington D.C. Holocaust Museum. Only one person was killed, an African American security guard named Stephen Tyrone Jones.

It is a shame that the U.S. government has done little in trying to prevent these groups from causing violence. Instead, the U.S. government lets these groups flourish, hold public rallies, and recruit. I say enough.

It's time for the United States government to draw the line between free speech and racism. Although I believe in free speech and expression, if it leads to this, I believe it must be limited at least for racism. I am tired of racist groups able to take influence and try to take over our values. I believe that people can live freely without ever having to be harmed because of their ethnicity, and I believe the United States government has failed to uphold that right.

9. Stop Bale being deported after 13 years serving British Armed Forces

Isimeli Baleiwai known as 'Bale' to his friends is facing deportation from the UK after serving 13 years with the British Armed Forces. Bale is a foreign and commonwealth soldier from Fiji who was recruited by the MOD when he was 18.

He has served in 5 operational tours including Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. His wife Kim is British and they have two young children a boy of 3 and a girl of 6; both British. Bale voluntarily discharged from the Armed Forces on June 15th 2012 in order to provide stability for his family.

He applied for British Citizenship in March while still a serving soldier. This was advised to him by MOD personnel because he had served 13 years and had a British wife and children. This was refused on 28/06/2012 by UKBA, Bale sent an 'appeal for review' but recieved a letter from UKBA on 14/07/2012 stating he had until 9th August 2012 to leave the country.

Under changes made to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1973 (ROA) in 2010 disciplinary offences dealt with at the Commanding Officer's discretion can now be equated to a criminal conviction.

Bale was fined in 2011 by his Commanding Officer for fighting with another soldier who instigated the fight. There was no police involvement, no trial, no defence and nor was it impartial. Bale did not know he was being charged with a criminal conviction. He believed this was an 'in-house' disciplinary offence only. He has no criminal record, this offence is only on his military record. There was no court martial. He has now appealed the conviction.

Under the changes made to ROA in 2010 Bale is now defined as a criminal by the Home Office and of not good character to become a British citizen or apply for indefinite leave to remain.

This is devastating for him and his family. It is a breach of Article 6 of the Human Rights Act (1998) and Armed Forces Covenant (2011). It is also inherently racist because the changes made will have no impact on his British Armed Forces colleagues because these military offences are not held on a criminal record. This change only has implications to immigration Law and Policy. The family believe the law and policy is discriminative.

Please show your support for Bale and his family, their lives are in turmoil. Bale has been told he has until the 9th August 2012 to leave the Country.

The Home Office has been using this 'Law' to deport Foreign and Commonwealth soldiers who have been medically discharged as well. This is a disgrace and immoral!

The family are humbled by offers of donations, however Veterans Aid are advocating for our family and others like us. If you would like to donate please donate to them at http://www.veterans-aid.net/

On 26th July Bale won the right to appeal his military offence 'out of time' because it was not in accordance with Article 6. UKBA still do not accept that this means it can not equate to a criminal offence. They granted Bale discretional leave to remain on 30th July. They have stated they will not make a decision on his deportation until the miltary offence is heard in a court of law. This is not a retrial as there was not one in the first place, this is being treated as a new case. Bale currently can stay but with no rights (work, doctor, benefits) he has a job offer but is unable to take it. Veteran's Aid and his wife will now be supporting the family. Bale feels his service has been dishonoured and UKBA are trying to make his family destitute.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Update: On 20/11/2012 Bale was found NOT GUILTY of his summary offence at Colchester Military Court.

On 05/12/12 Bale was informd that the Home Office would be granting him citizenship. The Baleiwai family are overjoyed that this nightmare has finally come to an end. They also hope that this injustice is not repeated again and the new changes in Law prevent innocent soldiers from being deported or denied their rights.

The Baleiwai family would like to say a great Big Thank-you to everyone who has signed the petition and supported them and in by doing so have helped a lot of others who are facing the same injustice. The support has been overwhelming and kept the family going. Despite the challenges of the last 6 months the family feel blessed to have met so many great people on the way and be part of something that has resulted in a change for the better.

10. Boycott Beale St. until the racism stops

To understand what is happening on Beale Street is to understand the history of that place. Once one of the largest, most culturally vibrant Black communities in the united States, it was allowed to deteriorate by the white government in the 1960's, then came the order for wrecking ball of federal "Model Cities" programs which dispersed the Black population in 1969, and finally in the late 1970's and early 1980's came the white vulture developers and downtown businessmen, who redeveloped the area as a white entertainment district.

So the Beale Street Merchants Association, white businessmen, want to protect their investment, are using the police as their attack dogs. Black people who live here in Memphis are not wanted or allowed to enjoy the venues of what was once their own community, and for which they pay taxes. They are frequently arrested for "loitering" and other bogus offenses; they are then beaten in custody by officers.

What bothers us about Memphis is that the Mayor and majority Black city government passively accept this state of affairs where the Black youth are brutalized and beaten when they are arrested for trivial offenses in the Beale Street district. When they are drunk and rowdy, whites are arrested, even those who have knives like this Basil Fleming guy (see news article below), but they are not beaten, shot and killed. We feel an online tourist boycott of Beale Street is called for], just to get their attention, and to demand justice for this young man killed by the police. The merchants should not be allowed to profit from the death of Christian Freeman, in a bid to intimidate and discriminate against Blacks.

We cannot passively sit by while this type of racist misbehavior and abuse by the police, abetted by the politicians and greedy businessmen takes place. We are calling for all those opposed to racism and the prevention of abuse by the authorities to join us in organizing this international tourist and consumer boycott of the city of Memphis and the Beale Street entertainment district. No matter where you live in the world, you can help us. We will hold some type of grassroots community activism in Memphis down in the Beale Street area to show our displeasure, but you can tell the mayor and businessmen, that their discrimination is totally unacceptable.

They will only respond to pressure, so let's pressure them. You can write to the mayor, A.C. Wharton, at mayor@memphistn.gov and demand that the cops stop harassing Blacks and prosecute the cops involved with the killing of Christian Freeman, and tell the Beale Street Merchants Association, that you are part of an international boycott against them. info@bealestreetmerchants.com. If you prefer, you can call by phone (901) 529-0999, or send a fax: (901) 529-4022 .

11. Stop Police Entrapment for Towing Company Profits

On Sunday, May 6, 2012 at approximately 2:20 a.m. I was awakened by loud noises out in front of my apartment. I ran to the window and saw a tow truck backing up towards my car. I grabbed my keys and ran outside. Then a police car with flashing lights pulls up in front of my car, at this point I am barricaded. I asked nicely, "Excuse me, why are you towing my car." He said there is a marathon and signs everywhere. I looked around and I did not see any signs near my car. I said that I understood and asked if I could move my car myself as I was holding the keys. At this point there were no signs of a marathon being set up, I was not blocking any emergency exits, have no outstanding tickets or other reason for impounding. I said that I would pay for the ticket and even pay for the tow truck coming if they would leave me my car so that I could go to work at 4 a.m. I missed the initial ticketing and signage because I was asleep for the majority of the day and evening; in order to be rested for my 4 a.m.-11 a.m. work shift.

The police officer was rude and condescending and proclaimed that the car was already chained when he arrived (a lie that he felt was true because he said it out loud.) The signs do not mention the fact that cars will be towed. My car would have been out of the way before marathon set-up started at 5 a.m. and the police officer was unreasonable considering that I needed my car for work (no buses were running). I would be fired for missing a shift at work, as many other night workers are in demand.

The police officer owes me an apology. He should have given me a ride to work! He was working to ensure towing company revenues not make sure the street was clear for the marathon. What happened to "protect and serve"? Serve whom? A car owner standing beside her car with keys in hand, watches it being towed away at her expense for NO reason of protection and service. I am a graduate student with limited funding and unable to get my car out from the impound without financial assistance until pay day this Friday. Thanks to you Pittsburgh Police Department!

Why not spend your time addressing the gunshots that can be heard from my apartment ringing out from East Liberty and Garfield, instead of ruining the livelihood of mere graduate student?

13. Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia MUST STAY!

Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia MUST STAY!

Justice delayed is justice denied.

End the degrading treatment of Refugees.

Grant asylum to Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia NOW.

Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia are lesbian/gay activists and civil rights leaders from Uganda and Senegal, nations where openly gay people are politically persecuted, imprisoned and murdered for being gay. Tacko, Asuman, Andrew, and Proscovia are seeking political asylum in Britain. Their outspoken and public opposition to the anti-gay political policies of the Ugandan and Senegalese governments means that a decision by the British government to return them to Uganda or Senegal is tantamount to a death sentence.

Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia are members of the Movement for Justice and leaders of the struggles against racism and the scapegoating of refugees and asylum seekers here in Britain. They are also tireless leaders of the struggle for lesbian/gay equality in Britain, Africa and other parts of the world. Both the governments and anti-gay death squads of Uganda and Senegal know their sexual orientation.

Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia have not been granted asylum, even though each of them filed a claim many months ago. Three survived torture; the fourth’s partner was tortured and killed. Living under the constant threat of deportation, never knowing what the next day holds, is an especially excruciating experience for these political asylum seekers.

Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia have not been granted asylum thus far because of their political activism in Britain. All four are members of the Movement for Justice and leaders of the struggles against racism and the scapegoating of refugees and asylum seekers here in Britain. Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia are also tireless leaders of the struggle for lesbian/gay equality in Britain, Africa and other parts of the world. They are precisely the kind of leaders that Britain needs to progress as a society.

Last year Britain co-sponsored a Joint Statement on LGBT Rights by 85 countries at the United Nations, calling on governments like Uganda and Senegal to end the torture of LGBT people, protect their safety and human rights, and stop treating homosexuality as a criminal offence. Granting asylum to Tacko, Asuman, Andrew and Proscovia is an easy, direct and meaningful way for the British government to show that its pious words will be backed by action.

14. NO to RACISM AT LIVERPOOL FC

We have grave concerns about the inadequate responses of Liverpool Football Club to the findings by the FA regulatory commission that determined Luis Suarez was guilty of racially insulting the Manchester United player, Patrice Evra.

Football is a unifying sport providing pleasure and entertainment to billions of people across the planet. Young people from every corner of our world passionately support their team. Football players are held in high regard and viewed as positive role models.

Clubs, players and managers have an important and globally recognized responsibility to demonstrate their commitment to the principle of common decency and fair play. Throughout the world, both on and off the football pitch they inspire and socially educate billions of young people who admire and mimic their actions.

The issue of racism in football is one that requires unambiguous anti racist leadership. The actions of LFC in the run up to and following the publication of the FA’s findings fell short of the high standard of leadership expected for a team of their standing in the football community.

LFC actions, in vehemently rejecting the findings of the FA inquiry, their public displays of support for a player found guilty of racist abuse and his subsequent refusal to shake the hand of Evra at a recent game is completely unacceptable. These actions we believe could be considered as inciting racial intolerance.

Whilst the subsequent apologies for the failure to engage with the traditions of a pre game “hand shake” are to be welcomed, there remains deep concern, about LFC’s absolute refusal to accept the findings of the FA’s investigation. As such these apologies fail to meet the test of genuine remorse and understanding. This is further negated by LFC’s failure to apologise for racism either through the club or Suarez.

Neither have LFC recognised or acknowledged the consequent damage to race relations resulting from their actions and recognised by many people of all races across the country. As a result, efforts to combat racism in football and the wider society in general have been critically undermined.

Compounding these serious errors is the failures of Liverpool’s civic leaders, many of whom have remained silent on these critical issues and have failed to publicly condemn LFC’s decision not to robustly and effectively challenge racism.

Such is the overwhelming power of the Premier League and the influence of clubs such as LFC it is imperative that this situation cannot be allowed to stand.

The international reputation of Liverpool as a city committed to race equality is at stake. In addition there is a real and urgent need to restore confidence in the campaign against racism in football, both here, in the UK and across the world.

16. Remove Sep Blatter

2) There have been constant reports of vote rigging, financial corruption and financial mismanagement within FIFA with Mr. Blatter at the centre.

3) Allegations of corruption and financial irregularities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA#Allegations_of_financial_irregularities)

18. Blatter should quit

FIFA president Sepp Blatter told CNN Wednesday that on-field racism was not a problem in football. In his remarks Blatter told CNN World Sport anchor Pedro Pinto that players who have been abused should shake hands with their opponent upon the final whistle and move on.

Racism is not acceptable on the pitch or off the pitch and to tell people that they have to ignore and accept racial abuse reveals his true attitude to the serious issue of racial discrimination everywhere and more especially in football.

FIFA deserves a leader who is principled and respects the rights of all humans. Blatter has contributed all he knows to FIFA ,surely there is a more principled person to led FIFA into a new era of transperancy and decency.

Please sign this petition so we can give FIFA a chance to improve. All people of colour deserve respect and will not be told to shake hands with those who disrespect and insult them.

If you have ever admired players of colour for their skill, sign our petition and give players the respect they deserves for their abilities not insults.

19. 立即停止歧視外傭 End Discrimination Against HK Foreign Domestic Workers, NOW!

On 30 September 2011, the Hong Kong High Court ruled that the restrictions imposed on foreign domestic workers (FDWs) in the current Immigration Ordinance violated the provision in Article 24 of the Hong Kong Basic Law, on the eligibility to apply for permanent residency after having lived in Hong Kong for seven years.

Under the existing Immigration Ordinance, non-Chinese people who have lived in Hong Kong with a legal identification document for seven years can apply to the Director of Immigration for permanent residency in Hong Kong. Having verified that the applicant takes Hong Kong as their permanent residence, the Department of Immigration will then approve the application. However, the provisions in the Immigration Ordinance amended during the Provisional Legislative Council after the handover discriminatively deprived only FDWs of the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.

The High Court ruling on 30 September restores to FDWs equal treatment as other migrant non-Chinese people, to possess the right to apply for residency in Hong Kong. The ruling successfully eliminates the occupational discrimination in the current Immigration Ordinance and brings along a positive message to the society. It shows Hong Kong’s core value of individual human equality, where “all are equal before the law.”

The High Court ruling also has effectively recognized that the Hong Kong government has committed serious discrimination and injustice against FDWs until now. The Hong Kong government and all Hong Kong society should recognize that a large number of FDWs have been facing deep human rights violations and social and legal discrimination due to current government policies not limited to the exclusion from the right of abode, but including for example exclusion from the statutory minimum wage, the live-in requirement, the limitless working hours per day, the ‘two-week rule’ (by which they may only stay two weeks in Hong Kong after the termination of the contract) and other conditions they uniquely face.

As Hong Kong residents, citizens and workers, we want to achieve a 'world city' based on justice and equal rights for all human beings. We stand together with the foreign domestic workers who we live with and benefit from in our society, to ask for the following:

20. David Starkey does not represent London

Petition calling on Boris Johnson to withdraw his invitation to The Mayor's Thames Festival.

We the undersigned call on the Mayor of London to withdraw the invitation to David Starkey to speak as part of the Mayor's Thames Festival.

In a discussion about the riots this summer on BBC Newsnight, David Starkey used race-based terminology to explain the riots, claiming '"What has happened is that the substantial section of the chavs that you wrote about have become black. The whites have become black. A particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic gangster culture has become the fashion,"'. He also claimed Jamaican Patois has ''been intruded in England...so many of us have this sense of literally a foreign country''. Comments encouraging the idea that black people and black culture lie at the root of the issues leading to the riots can only whip up racism and prejudice.

The Newsnight discussion then turned to the Mark Duggan protest. When Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, responded to Starkey saying that both white and black youth were involved in the riots, he contended that "it started as a black protest about the killing of a black man". When Owen Jones, another guest on the show, pointed out this was a peaceful protest about the shooting of Mark Duggan, and could not be held responsible for the riots, Starkey replied "it very quickly ceased to be peaceful". Quite apart from their race-bias, these comments are hurtful to the family of Mark Duggan, and also ignore the fact that the family strongly condemned violence of the riots.

The true spirit of London is not reflected in comments like these, but in the clean-up operations when people came together from all communities to repair the damage.

It is offensive and insensitive to give David Starkey a platform at the Mayor's Thames festival. Starkey's comments triggered thousands of complaints and have caused deep offence.

Rex Bellotti Junior, at the age of 15, was the victim of a disgusting injustice, committed by Albany officers of the Western Australian Police. It is amazing that he survived being run over by a WA Police 4WD, although he is now crippled for life. Rex Jr. nearly bled to death at the scene, due to a severed femoral artery, tissue was visibly ripped from his leg, and during the thirteen hour trip to provide him with the life saving surgery he so desperately needed, he had to be resuscitated twelve times and he will probably lose his leg.

That in itself is horrific enough, but what makes the Bellotti case all the more alarming is that despite the fact that four WA Police vehicles were on the scene within 90 seconds and there were at least twenty people who witnessed the crash or saw the aftermath, not one witness was interviewed until over a month later (once the media became involved). Out of all those officers present, not one can say what direction they arrived from, there are contradictions between WAPOL records of what time the 'incident' occurred, Rex Jr's location on the road, and not one of those four 2009 model police vehicles were fitted with CCTV or GPS despite that being standard WAPOL issue. The full horrid complexities of this case are appalling.

There has never been a genuine investigation, no compensation has been awarded to Rex Jr., and no criminal charges have been brought against those WA police officers driving the vehicle which hit Rex Jr. or those who have lied in legally binding documents.

24. Multiculturalism is big enough to survive David Starkey

The BBC has been criticised for airing David Starkey's views about the impact of certain negative aspects of Jamaican culture on British Society.

Multiculturalism must be robustly and maturely criticised if it is to continue to evolve as a social model. The BBC supports Multicultural Britain by continuing to providing a forum for this robust criticism and for any ensuing debate that may arise from it.

25. Public Apology needed from David Starkey and the BBC

David Starkey and the BBC should be made to give a public apology for the unacceptable comments made on the BBC's Newsnight.

Unacceptable comments made:

''The whites have become black''

"This language which is wholly false, which is this Jamaican patois that’s been intruded in England, and this is why so many of us have this sense of literally a foreign country."

"Listen to David Lammy, an archetypical successful black man, if you turned the screen off so you were listening to him on radio you’d think he was white."

26. Get 500 Years Later and Motherland documentary on SABC

500 Years Later for 4 years has been stuck with SABC in the negotiation process. They are trying to ignore this powerful multi-award winning documentary which deals with the legacy of slavery and oppression in Africa and the Diaspora. Even if you don't live in Africa be part of Pan-African change by demanding our Motherland is representative of the majority interest.

South Africa a highly racialized society which is plagued with the legacy of apartheid, which was an assault on the human dignity of African people. That trauma is identical to that suffered by the African Diaspora. Despite South Africa's claims at creating a new South Africa for all, the media remains largely distant from content that empowers the African majority. It white wash issues of race and self-determination leaving the people with deep internalize feelings of self-hatred and self-ignorance.

The sequel to 500 Years Later is Motherland which deals with the most concise story of Africa. Despite even having in the South African president all attempts to license this film to the national broadcaster are ignored.

MOTHERLAND - A film by Owen Alik Shahadah from Halaqah Films on Vimeo.

27. Stop prejudice through education

I have learnt about prejudice before and I think that it is completely wrong. I am very hurt when people are prejudiced against me. I am very shocked to discover that only certain types of prejudice such as racism and sexism are illegal.

It is now time that everyone understood and recognised that there is good and bad in everything and that there is a difference between what people CAN do and what they WILL do. I am always very nervous of prejudice and no one deserves to be afraid of being harassed because of who or what they are. I know some people who are prejudiced against pit bull type dogs because they have had bad previous experiences with them. Even this I cannot understand. They should be better educated to know that there is good and bad in everything.

I have heard of others who have bad experiences with Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs, and still hold nothing against them. Any dog of any breed can be trained to be nice, whatever their nature or original purpose. I once knew a border collie who wouldn't have known a sheep from a cow because she had never been trained to herd animals. Every day, I fear prejudice and I get even more strongly against it. I cannot understand nor tolerate ANY prejudice whatsoever. Children and young people should be better educated so that they grow up tolerating all religions, races, nationalities and types of people, as well as dog breeds. A better way of dealing with dog attacks on children would be to make socialization classes mandatory for all dog owners. This would also create more jobs as not everyone would be able to afford these classes so the government would have to set up their own classes and pay the people who own the places and those who run the classes. This would not be that hard to enforce because if enough signs and posters were placed regarding the importance of dog socialization the general public would report those who did not take their dogs.

Another idea would be to make it mandatory that children in primary schools are taught how to approach dogs properly. They should always ask the owner before touching a strange dog/s, and even if they let them stroke their dog/s, they should always put their hand out for the dog to sniff first. Never stare into a dog's eyes as this is a sign of aggression. Some dogs do not like to be petted on the head so unless you know the animal well you should never touch its head as it can appear to be frightening to the dog. If a dog chases you or growls at you, you should not run or scream because then he'll be more likely to chase you. The best thing to do is to just ignore him and, if possible, crouch down to show that you are not a threat.

Back onto the topic, how would YOU like it if people were hateful against your religion? Whoever said "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" was talking out of his or her armpit. Words can and do hurt people. Black people do get offended when they are called "n*****" and foreigners do get offended when they are called "p****". Despite rumours and myths, most prisoners are not gypsies or travellers. Some of them are bad, some of them are good. Some of them steal, some don't. Some drop litter, some don't. No one should be judged by anything other than their own personal character.

Prejudice can be stopped, or at least reduced, by education!

29. Less Abusive and Uncordial Behaviour on #idlers_anonymous

Over the coarse of the last six years, I have been the victim of entirely unprovoked displays of abuse (viz. so-called Internet Relay Chat Channel Host Mask Ban List Additions) as well as highly aloof, unsocial and rude behaviour (viz. name calling wrt. to me being African-American).

Taking into account the upcoming presidential elections on #idlers_anonymous, I seek this opportunity for restructuring the administrative hierarchy; the details of which are as follows in the petition body.
