1. Keep Pace University Clean of Horse Feces 
Due to the manner of their inhabitance of the university perimeter, the student body requests that the NYPD Mounted Unit please pick up after their horses, including their droppings which they have left around the school for the past two months.
It is distasteful, disgusting, and rude to current and prospective students visiting the school as well as its faculty, staff, and patrons of the university. This petition serves as a device for the university to speak out against the horse poop publicly left around the vicinity of the school campus by the NYPD Mounted Unit. We feel they have abused their power and their stay around our university campus, which has left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
By signing this petition, we at Pace University stand up for our rights as students and as citizens of the United States and to take action against the conditions we must live and learn in. The continual protests of university students which have thus far gone unrecognized exemplify the university president’s and NYPD’s disregard for the University’s and surrounding community’s welfare. It is incorrect to think the university does not control or have say over the situation.
We do and our voice will be heard. This is about our health, our safety, our comfort, and most importantly, about respect as a community united under an environment of learning. It is high time for the mounted police officers to comply with our requests for decency and civility. We ask them to get off their high horse, metaphorically and literally, to clean up their horse poop. Pace University is not the NYPD's personal horse stable and we request that they do not act as if it is. Every university student has the right to live and learn in a safe and comfortable environment. This concerns all students, faculty, and staff at Pace University as well as all students nationwide. We must stand up for our rights.
We, as a student body, must unite against the disrespect and disgusting conditions we have been subjected to. We do not pay this much for Pace University to endure being brushed off by university higher ups, who have allowed us to be subjected to these disgusting conditions. Let this petition signify our endurance and persistence in the matter before us.
Please sign the petition below if you wish to not smell or see horse feces everyday on your way to class and/or work.
2. Introduce properly qualified MD medical teachers in Indian medical colleges
British Medical Journal last year, highlighted the deplorable situation of most private medical colleges in india as medical teachers are MSc people with very poor medical education standards. most of indias 187 medical colleges do not have proper or adequate infrastructure, qualified MD staff, or facilities, while at the same time charged heavy capitation. most of the professors, associate professors and lecturers shown by the colleges worked on part-time basis -as if medical study is done by distance education.
The report also depicted a shortage in skilled non-teaching staff, such as essential laboratory support staff This was coupled with a deficient physical infrastructure and shortage of equipment in almost all the colleges and sharing or instruments between medical colleges as in medical colleges at chennai. Most obvious deficiencies were in the number of beds available for teaching and in clinical materials.
Many colleges flouted the norms of recognition set up by the Medical Council of India (MCI) that has always reiterated staff shortages to be not more than 5 per cent. However, it is worth noting that these same colleges were recognised yearly by the MCI and ministry of health.
3. Justice For Tharsini (University Campaign)
January 17, 2006
In December 2005, 20 year old Tharsini, a pre school teacher in the Sri Lankan army occupied Northern Tamil island of Pungudutivu, was gang raped and murdered, allegedly by members of the Sri Lankan Military; her body found in a well next to a Sri Lankan Military camp.
She was murdered in a government designated 'high security zone' where civilians live, which means that access in and out of the zone is tightly controlled by soldiers. The evidence of the Sri Lankan Military's involvement in the rape, murder and attempted cover up, is extensively documented in a report by the North Easter Secretariat for Human Rights (www.nesohr.org) whose founder member Jospeph Pararajasingham has since been shot allegedly by Sri Lankan military intelligence.
The Pungudituvu Cooperative Society has said in a press release that the Sri Lankan Navy should take responsibility for the murder and has appealed for international action to ensure that women in their island and in neightbouring areas can live without fear of violence from the occupying army. T
We, the undersigned join the students of the University of Jaffna in their concern and ask for action by the British government and the European Union, to ensure accountability and to prevent future sexual abuse of women in army occupied areas. As we draft this appeal a 16 year old school girl in another part of Jaffna was abducted on her way home from school by Sri Lankan soldiers. Your immediate preventive action is asked for.
Many of those who have appealed for justice for Tharsini so far have been intimidated and some shot by the Sri Lankan Army & Navy.
· When her body was found, residents protested against the Sri Lankan Navy. A 55 year old post man was shot by the Sri Lankan armed forces.
· The University of Jaffna, both its professors and students, then took up the protest. They too, including the Vice Chancellor, Professors and students were assaulted and shot by the Sri Lankan Army.
· Mr Gajendran, TNA Member of Parliament for Jaffna who joined the protest march for justice for Tharsini was injured by the Sri Lankan Army. The TNA party protested in Parliament. But on Christmas Eve, after the protest, the TNA's leading parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham was also shot.
· Journalists who covered the protests were assaulted.
We the undersigned, who are students and alumni of British universities who live in Britain in safety, now join the Universtiy of Jaffna in expressing concern and take up this appeal for immediate and unequivocal action as outlined below.

5. Keep Professor Binta Colley on Faculty
As of Fall 2003 semester, Professor Binta Colley, a fine and outstanding professor of philosophy, education and other related courses faces the possibility of losing her job.
In our education system today, we cannot afford to lose professors with exceptional teaching skills because they are devoted to helping their students gain great knowledge and love for the subject they are embarking.
Professor Binta Colley is one of the most outstanding student-oriented teacher York College or America has today and unfortunately, she was informed that she could be out of a job base on how she teaches and grades the students.
I had the opportunity of taking one of her philosophy classes, and it is unlike any other class that I have taken before. Not only does she use the Socratic method of teaching, but she promotes critical thinking in all areas and also provokes exceptional learning and application out of all her students. No student is left behind. If for any reason a student is experiencing difficulties in any area, Professor Colley is available by phone, office hours, virtual classroom, and email to assist each student in all areas. If by chance she is unable to help you, then professor Colley directs you to the appropriate place.
Great teachers in all areas and levels of teaching should be cherished, appreciated and awarded. If any thing should be done to her, an award should be handed to her. LET US PROTECT OUR HARD WORKING PROFESSORS. KEEP PROFESSOR BINTA COLLEY ON BOARD ACTIVELY!!!
