1. Demand an Independent Review of the Australian Dairy Industry

Australian Dairy farming is an industry of national significance, embedded as the backbone of many communities in regional areas.

Farming people have provided a rich heritage of hard working Australians, a legacy that remains integral to the tapestry of our modern culture. Dairy farming is an essential component of the Australian economy, generating $4billion through the farm gate in 2011/12, and creating employment for an estimated 50,000 people on farms, in manufacturing and other directly related industries. (Dairy Australia Annual Report 2011/12)

3. Demand that Tesco stop Stocking Israeli produce

In 1967, the Israeli army took military control of the Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Since that time the government of Israel has built settlements, roads and other infrastructure for its Jewish citizens, using land and resources stolen from the Palestinian people. This situation continues, unchallenged by Western governments, despite Israel’s being in violation of international humanitarian law and over 60 UN resolutions.

Israel daily destroys Palestinian lives, livelihoods and homes; it continues to build its illegal colonies and separation wall on stolen land; it continues to control Gaza while slicing the West Bank into Bantustans, separating Palestinian families from their schools, places of work and agricultural land; it denies Palestinian refugees their right to return and operates a form of racism in many respects worse than the South African apartheid system. Its policies of intimidation and humiliation aim to destroy Palestinian hopes of statehood. Israeli businesses export freely from Palestinian land while the Palestinian economy is on its knees as a result of the occupation.

We are calling on Tesco to support the global boycott movement and remove Israeli goods from it's shelves until such a time that Israel complies with International rights laws and recognises the Palestinian's right to self determination.

4. Stop the use of Chemical Pesticides on Banana crops

Chemical pesticides have been used on banana crops for over half a century. The wide spread use of these pesticides in South American countries has produced numerous accounts of physical illness on the people who work on banana plantations as well as the people of the surrounding villages and towns.

The corporations who use these pesticides on a regular basis are ignoring many of these illness issues. The illnesses that are inflicted on the workers and their families cause undue financial and physical harm, and do not allow them to keep their jobs, which are essential to providing for their families.

5. Production of Final Four Episodes of Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles

In 1999, Sony Pictures produced the computer-animated series “Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles”, which drew elements both from Robert Heinlein’s 1959 novel, and Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 film adaptation, appealing to the fans of book and film alike.

The series quickly gained a strong following, receiving praise from numerous science-fiction and television magazines, winning an Emmy, and being nominated for several other awards.

However, due to time and money constraints, four key episodes representing the dramatic final bend of the final story-arc were halted in mid-production, and replaced with four stand-alone clip-shows, which consisted mostly of recycled animation. But according to producer Audu Paden, the producers felt their originally planned stories were so strong, a case could be made for restoring them at a later time.

That time is now. The four missing episodes are very close to completion. The writing and scripting are done; the story’s ending is decided. The voice actors have already recorded the necessary dialogue. Storyboards and animatics lay ready to be referenced by animators and composers for a final product that can only provide a profitable boost to the Starship Troopers franchise.

Roughnecks endures as one of the best-written and most outstanding animated series television has ever seen. Its compelling story and powerful themes have touched the hearts of viewers in over thirty countries. Sony Pictures can no longer leave their impressive work unfinished, but must see it through to completion, thus stimulating their own revenue, and providing their fans with the long-awaited closure of this beloved series.

6. Support Local Sustainable Produce

On 1 March 2009, the Queensland State Government implemented the Moreton Bay Marine Park, zoning more than 40% of the productive fishing grounds of Moreton Bay for conservation purposes.

To offset the impacts of the new zones on commercial fishers, the State Government staged a process to buy-out fishing licenses.

The Structural Adjustment Package was a licence buy-out process, implemented to reduce the environmental, social and economic effects of commercial fishing grounds being heavily reduced.

The buy-out process was seriously flawed, and now the same number of commercial fishermen are operating in a vastly reduced area.

Applications for buy-out were assessed for ‘best value for money’ and not the degree of impact on the applicant.

As a result, licences that operate outside Moreton Bay or licences that are dormant or were only used on part-time basis were bought out. The overall number of commercial fishing vessels working in the Bay has not been reduced.

A total of 119 licenses were bought-out, yet the process failed to remove real, active effort from the Bay or compensate those fishers who were most affected by the new zones.

Moreton Bay fishers have been forced to fish harder instead of smarter, leading to immense economic, social and environmental impacts.

7. Improving Conditions in Puppy Mills

In puppy mills dogs are crammed into small cages where they cannot stand up and do not receive the needed exercise. The dogs sleep in there own urine and contract illnesses from the hazardous cages. The cages are stacked on top of each other. The dogs do not receive proper veterinary care and their injuries cause deformities and sometimes death. There immune systems and bones are weak and this makes it easier for them to get sick. They are neglected and the only time the miller visits is to take away puppies, kill dogs that cannot produce anymore, or throw away dead animals. Female dogs produce litter after littler until they are not able to anymore. They care for their young until the miller comes and takes the puppies away. These are horrible conditions that are completely inhumane.

8. Protect Yourself from Household Cleaners

Did you know that most common household cleaners are polluting your indoor air and are bad for your health? Many all-purpose cleaners, oven cleaners, window cleaners, polishes, etc. are created from petroleum distillants, which are hazardous to your health.

Cleaners also contain dyes, perfumes, phosphates and formaldyde agents, which are dangerous to your health and which linger in the air that you are breathing in your homes. Many of these toxins are suspected carcinogens, and many are harmful to aquatic life when poured down the drain.

Companies do exist that create all of their cleaning products from safe and natural materials. Why are we supporting the companies that do not?

10. Save Family Affairs

August 02, 2005

Family Affairs has been axed after more than eight years, it was announced today.

Five's flagship soap, which was the first to air five days a week, will disappear from our screens at the end of the year after 2250 episodes.

Five's Director of Programmes, Dan Chambers, commented: "I'd like to thank every single member of the cast and crew of Family Affairs, and talkbackTHAMES, for their tremendous hard work and creativity over the last eight years.

"This was a very difficult decision to make but we felt the series had come to the end of its natural lifespan and the time was right to try something new.

"We remain committed to original drama and will be using the budget allocated to Family Affairs to fund a range of programming including several new prime-time drama projects and scripted comedy."

Lorraine Heggessey, CEO of talkbackTHAMES who produce the soap, said: "I respect the decision and understand the reasons behind it. However, I'm disappointed as I felt we had bright new plans for the show including some strong new actors.

"We have several drama projects in development with a variety of broadcasters and I'm looking forward to building upon our reputation and ability to produce award-winning drama."

Head of Drama Johnathan Young added: "My thanks go to everyone at Family Affairs for all their hard work and dedication. There's a lot to be proud of - Family Affairs has told controversial stories with power and integrity and was the first soap to go five nights a week, which is no mean feat.

"I know there will be many disappointed by the news but we must move forward and I'm excited about working with Five on new projects."

The final episode will air in December.

11. Dave Matthews Band No More "Hollywood" Producers

As many Dave Matthews Band fans know, the band has been using mainstream producers for their last few albums; Lillywhite, Ballard, and most recently Mark Batson, who is known best for his work with Beyonce` and 50 Cent.

Although some of the music represented on these production albums is very much worth listening to, it doesn't have the same appeal as earlier Matthews albums. The Dave Matthews Band hardly seems the type to need a "hollywood" music producer, it may be working as more of a crutch than anything else.

This is a petition of The Dave Matthews Band to self-produce their next studio album, the fans demand it and without fans a band is nothing.

12. Do not force a new Canadian election!

Dear Honourable Stephen Harper and associate Members of Parliament;

As stated in the Globe and Mail, on Thursday April 28th, 2005, the honourable Stephen Harper will move to bring a no-confidence vote against the liberal government in the following month. Such an action has dire consequences for both Canadian Democracy, and the faith one has in Canadian Politics.

Although this faith has been repeatedly shattered, given the claims of corruption brought forth in regards to the sponsership scandal and the Gomery inquiry, forcing an election prior to the release of the report would undermine Canadian's ability to judge for themselves whether the Liberal government has lost the 'moral authority' to govern. While there is much anger with the Liberal Government, in Quebec and throughout Canada, for the sake of democracy, Canadians must be able to judge for themselves the scope of the injustice of the sponsership scandal. As a result, an election should not be forced until the Gomery Report has been produced.

Secondly, such an election would be a waste of both time that lawmakers could spend doing their job, as well as of the taxpayers money. Millions were lost in the sponsership scandal, but just how many more millions would be lost in an election that would produce near-identical results as the previous one. It is highly doubtful that given the divided support of Canadians an election would result in anything other than another minority government. As a result, it would be likley that such an election would produce a conservative or liberal minority government to be toppled once again a year or so after its formation. In other words, the question must arise, "Why must an election be held now?"

It is obvious that the Conservative Party's answer to this is that the liberal government has lost all moral authority to govern. However, this sponsership scandal is hardly new to this minority government, as it was equally an issue in the previous federal election of 2004. The only change is the production of the Gomery report revealing the details of the scandal. And that is exactly why the federal election should wait until at the very least the entire report has been released. Let the Canadian people see for themselves the details of the corruption first hand. There should be no reason for the Canadian people to have to rely on the media's point of view of the Gomery inquiry. It should be released to the public PRIOR to any move for a federal election.

Finally, in June 2004, the Canadian people expressed their wish to have a divided parliament. There was no clear majority, which proves to the legistlature that the Canadian people are divided. The Canadian elected the LIBERAL party as GOVERNING party, the CONSERVATIVE party as OPPOSITION, and both the NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY and PARTI BLOC QUEBECOIS as significant but smaller OPPOSITION parties. Therefore, each of these parties should work towards comprimises which BEST REFLECT the WILL of the Canadian People. A Minority Parliament is an expression of the Canadain People's desire for comprimise.

13. Flags inside Ibrox Stadium

This petition has been created by a fan for fans in order to help fellow fans produce and show-off a safe, trouble free and/or individual display(s) at Ibrox using non-offensive flags and banners.

Many fans at Ibrox feel frustrated at not being allowed to string up flags and banners at Ibrox. As far as im aware there isnt a reason for the continual action of stewards and police telling supporters to remove their items.

One could understand the problem if these banners/flags were deemed to have offensive messages on them and/or compromising the safety of other fans - but this just simply is not the case.

There is nothing better than being able to get flags and banners on display as it makes the place a lot more colourful and I genuinely feel that the players and fans both respond to it in a positive way.

The much respected supporters group 'The Blue Order' have a small section at Ibrox in which they can hang thier banners and flags up. They arent doing anyone any harm & thier displays are always impressive.

I believe other supporters at every other part of the ground should have the chance to do the same thing.

Please take a minute to sign my petition and make the relevant people at Ibrox draw thier attention to this.

Thanks for reading and (hopefully) signing.

14. Stop Industrial Farming - It Hurts the World

Industrial farming (also know as "agribusiness") is an agricultural method used to mass-produce crops. But instead of feeding the hungry world, these corporations cause more starvation. They compete against smaller farms and force the farmers out of business, which means they can no longer feed their local community or even themselves.

Agribusinesses use millions of pounds of pesticides annually, which then pollute water sources, injure humans, kill aquatic life, and damage topsoil.

When you buy wheat products at the grocery store, do you think about where it came from? Neither did I - at least until I did some research. Most of the produce we buy is grown on industrial farms, a farming method where only one crop is grown over hundreds of acres of land (causing depletion of soil nutrients and decreased biodiversity). Industrial farms use 70% of potable water consumed, but also pollute other water sources. A branch of industrial farming is called "factory farming" where animals are kept in confinement. When pigs bite each other's tails because they've "gone mad" from not being able to perform natural behaviors, they have their tails cut off- without anesthetics. When disease is found among a few chickens on an industrial farm, they chuck all of them into a chipper. It grinds them up while they are still alive. Please examine the pictures of the confined pigs and the sow who is feeding her piglets but who cannot move at all. Should animals be treated this way?

"...District Judge Jeanne Meurer ordered: that Defendants must produce for inspection and copying upon a request by a member of the CCHoA, the list of e-mail addresses of the members of the CCHoA used for communication of CCHoA business as it exists 10 days after the entry of this order and thereafter (July 26, 2003, and thereafter)."

"...the Board has decided to ask all whose addresses are on the e-mail list to ascertain whether they want their e-mail addresses made available to any member of the Association upon request. In order to determine the homeowners' preference, the Board has elected to delete all e-mail addresses UNLESS specifically directed by a homeowner to retain a homeowner's e-mail address on the official list. If you want your e-mail address to remain on the list, please so advise the writer by return e-mail. Otherwise, your address will be deleted from the list.

...the Board will likely produce and distribute monthly to each home a paper newsletter containing all of the pertinent information previously contained in "blast e-mails" to our neighbors. Sincerely, CCHoA Board of Directors"

17. RIAA goes too far for $$$

The RIAA, or the Record Industry Association of America controls a good portion of the record industry. Over the years, they are pushing for laws that would prevent them from downloading anything "Copyrighted". This is a problem because the ways they pursue their goals are unconstitutional, and unfair. Ever since the AHRA was enacted, every CD-R has a hidden tax added into the price, approx 2% of the manufacturers sales. This is supposed to go to the artists, but instead, the tax goes to the RIAA. The worst part of it is not one artist that was paid a cent of the money. 4% is set aside for non-featured artists, of the remainder 40% for the featured artist and 60% for the labels. To date not one artist who has received one cent of this money. (Source: RIAA website. Every CD recorder also has a $2.00 surcharge added onto the price, of which goes directly to the RIAA. This all jacks up prices at retail stores, which is a problem because not everybody wants to pay $15 - $20 for a CD. The NRAA also pushes for acts and laws to prevent people from downloading MP3 files, or anything free. They recently sued college students, and wanted them jailed for downloading MP3s on their computer. THEY ARE JUST TEENAGERS! Why not go after Nintendo for putting Sonic the Hedgehog on the Gamecube with this logic then? Here are some examples of what they want:

(1.) Hacking into the computer (which is also ILLEGAL), and knocking you off line if they find you downloading MP3s, and disable your system (2.) Using software that would go into a computer, and deletes the MP3s (3.) Suing the individual school students, or college students (4.) Pushing for laws that would make all computers be installed with spy-ware that would prevent people from downloading MP3s, or other files.

This is a clear violation of our 1st and 4th amendment rights. These laws would also be a heavy violation of the 4th amendment, which states " We the undersigned feel that we should be able, under certain guidelines, be able do download files freely. Ideas ranging from sites that only have MP3s from artists who allow this practice, or a site where a ONE TIME ONLY fee would be paid, and the persons would have access to all the files he/she wanted, and the best thing would be that the money would go directly to the artists themselves. We also feel that the artists who produce the music should get most of the money, and not the recording industries. With new cheaper, yet better quality technology, the artists of music would be able to produce their music & music videos, and release them on the web without having to loose money to the greedy recording industries. To conclude, we feel that the RIAA goes too far, and hurts themselves more than people who share MP3s on the net. We might need some regulating on the MP3 scene, but lobbying unconstitutional laws by big, corrupt industries, and arresting the people who can't possibly pay up charges is the wrong way to go. Please listen to our plea, and do something about the RIAA today before our constitutional rights and freedoms are trampled on by greed and power.

18. House Judiciary Committee vote on SCNT

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, February 12, is
expected to vote on legislation, H.R. 534, by Rep. Dave Weldon (R-FL)
regarding human cloning.

The bill, as currently written, would ban human reproductive cloning, but would also halt promising embryonic stem cell research, because the bill imposes criminal penalties on researchers who use SCNT technology
to produce stem cells for research. The bill applies to privately funded
research as well as publicly funded research.

SCNT involves removing the nucleus of an unfertilized egg cell, replacing it with the material from the nucleus of a "somatic cell" (a skin, heart, or nerve cell, for example), and stimulating this cell to begin
dividing. Once the cell begins dividing, stem cells can be extracted
5-6 days later and used for research.

Most scientists believe that stem cells derived from SCNT could be very important in the development of measures to prevent or treat
diseases.

Most U.S. House members have supported embryonic stem cell research and want to see its potential benefits maximized. H.R.534's ban on SCNT would mean that researchers would be unable to fully maximize embryonic stem cell research opportunities.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) will offer an amendment to make an exception to the bill to ensure that the penalties in the bill do not apply to the use of SCNT to produce stem cells. However, the bill would continue to ban human reproductive cloning.

Ask the Member to support stem cell research by voting for the Lofgren amendment.

P.S. We also thought you may be interested in the following letter
recently sent by former First Lady Nancy Reagan to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), expressing her opposition to a ban on SCNT to produce stem cells.

Office of Nancy Reagan January 29, 2003
Dear Orrin,
As you may know, Ronnie will observe his ninety second birthday soon. In earlier times, we would have been able to celebrate that day with great joy
and wonderful memories of our life together. Now, while I can draw strength from these memories, I do it alone, as Ronnie struggles in a world
unknown to me or the scientists who devote their lives to Alzheimer's
research. Because of this, I am determined to do what I can to save other families from this pain.
I'm writing, therefore, to offer my support for stem cell research and to
tell you I'm in favor of new legislation to allow the ethical use of
therapeutic cloning. Like you, I support a complete ban on reproductive
cloning. However, I believe that embryonic stem cell research, under
appropriate guidelines, may provide our scientists with many answers
that are now beyond our grasp.
Orrin, there are so many diseases than can be cured, or at least helped,
that we can't turn our back on this. We've lost so much time already. I
can't bear to lose any more.

Sincerely,

The Honorable Orrin Hatch

19. Produce Followup Sets of Charmed Trading Cards

In 1999, Inkworks purchased the legal rights to produce trading cards for the television series "Charmed." Shortly thereafter, promotional cards announcing the release of season one in early 2000 were printed. However, the release date was set back and fans were forced to wait until December 2000 to purchase the eagerly anticipated card series. In every box appeared a "case loader" card which announced the arrival of the second set, season two Charmed cards "coming soon."

Currently on Inkworks' website [http://www.inkworkscards.com/products/coming.html], production for many other series are planned under their one-release-per-month policy, but Charmed is nowhere to be seen on their schedule. Other TV series have card sets released only a few months after the season has aired in completion, but Charmed fans who avidly awaited the first set to be released despite the year long delay are now facing the fact that they may never be produced because Inkworks claims the first set was a hassle to make. As it is, the set was trimmed down from the intended 90-card set to a 72-card set because of production difficulties. As long as Inkworks holds contractual rights to the series, no other manufacturer can produce the Charmed trading cards that Inkworks originally promised.

21. America's first dog should be pedigreed.

America's first dog should be pedigreed. "Mutts" are the product of irresponsible breeding, that may occur when a pet owner fails to spay or neuter, or worse, abandons, a pet.

Although puppy mills produce pedigreed dogs, and are also irresponsible, there is one source for a dog, and only one source, that promotes responsibility in breeding - the show-dog kennel.

Show-dog kennels are responsible in not breeding animals for profit. They produce puppies for the purpose of finding the next show animal, then sell the rest of the pups as pets. Show-dog kennels promote spay and neuter by placing restrictive contracts on the puppies they sell, requiring spay and neuter of the pups by a certain age, and only allowing those pups to be bred when they are of good quality, and in cases where the breeder of the pup will also practice responsiblity in breeding.

Show-dog pups are raised in home environments, well-socialized and loved. Their parents have been tested for genetic and communicable diseases. They have been given the best of nutrition and veterinary care during their growing period.

Show-dog kennels are the most responsible source for a well-adjusted pet dog, and should be promoted as such.

22. Sports Car GT2 (SCGT2)

There has been a faithful following of the game "Sports Car GT" published by Electronic Arts & designed by ISI (likely the best racing sim designers when it comes to physics) for over 3 years now.

People all over the world are still discovering (and purchasing) this great game for the first time as is evident by posts on related forums. These forums are buzzing on a daily basis with talk and praise of this game 3 years after it's release. This should give anyone an idea just how this game was so ahead of it's time in physics and innovative coding.

PC Gamer magazine said it was "almost broadcast quality" in their review of SCGT. We agree!

The entire SCGT community has been faithfully waiting for an SCGT2 to be put together by Electronic Arts for quite some time. We feel a company like Electronic Arts who has been in the forefront of racing arcade/sim games has an equal obligation to its sim racing fans that it has shown towards its arcade racing fans in its NFS series.

Other racing series sims which may have somewhat of a larger following than GT racing, although much appreciated, have been (in our opinion) so overly produced and reproduced for so many consecutive years that they have become almost monotonous... until "Sports Car GT" came along.

We would hope that EA Sports can see that although this series may not produce the volume of sales that other series may produce, is a still very much a contribution to the whole. Many people who prefer true racing sims, will almost certainly have more than one sim game. But if those racing sim games all represent the same series differing only in the series year, sooner or later people will stop buying just to get a new car paintjob because some drivers in the year changed teams. Ok, and maybe some minor physics/modeling engine enhancements.

In our opinion, ISI (Image Space Inc.) not only captured the sensation of the GT Racing series, but also created a physics/modeling engine way beyond it's years in performance, stability, and visual game play.

We would hope that EA Sports could realize the submersion factor that ISI has managed to bring to SCGT and the interest of EA's customers in having a sim that reproduces the GT series well (as SCGT does), and requests ISI to create a follow up to this great game and give it's faithful followers and newcomers to GT Racing an SCGT2.
