181. Remove the Electoral College

February 28, 2006

For the last 200 years this country has elected presidents via the electoral college.

This system made sense in a nation not yet fully populated and, for the most part, unregulated.

The time has come to eliminate the distinction between Blue and Red states and move to a system of popular vote. A system where every vote actually counts.

183. Petition for North Carolina House Bill 1303

February 22, 2006

The Citizens for Healthcare Freedom is a North Carolina grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about health care issues.

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our North Carolina community by empowering individuals and families to make freer and more fully informed health care decisions.

CHF is currently following the nationwide trend by supporting an exciting, new Health Freedom Bill in North Carolina. In March 2005 we joined with a federation of organizations, a consortium of health care providers, and health conscious citizens in order to continue to promote a NC health freedom movement.

The federation penned and proposed a health freedom bill, and together with our House Bill Sponsor we are working hard to spread the word and get this bill to become law.

Currently, in North Carolina and other states without consumer protections, complementary and alternative health care practitioners can no longer freely practice natural healing -- such as naturopathy, acupuncture, herbology, aromatherapy, etc. -- or even educate the public about natural healing practices without being at an increasing risk of being accused of and charged for "practicing medicine without a license."

This bill would remedy this situation, allowing consumers to continue using alternative and complementary medicine alongside conventional medicine. First, this bill would narrow the scope of health care practices so that complementary and alternative medicine practices, which have been deemed inherently so safe that they don't require medical licensure, could continue to be practiced without a medical license. Secondly, the bill would allow these practitioners to continue to educate consumers about natural healing, such as nutrition, vitamins, herbs, etc., without being charged with practicing medicine without a medical license.

No matter how you depend on alternative and complementary medicine to keep healthy - whether it is seeing a homeopath or learning about vitamins and herbs from a naturopath - if you want to preserve these freedoms, please sign this petition now. And if you want to learn more about how you can become a part of this important initiative, please visit our website: www.CitizensforHealthcareFreedom.org.

185. SAVE BABE!

February 19, 2006

Breeding sows are confined in tiny metal stalls with no bedding or straw and are forced to lie on wet concrete floors for months on end.

The pigs don't even have enough space to turn around! Intensive farming is designed to maximise productivity and profits, leaving the welfare of animals secondary.

These stalls are used extensively in Australia but have been banned or are being phased out in other countries. The pigs literally go crazy, biting the bars around them. The government is not opposed to intensive animal production systems and housing provided they comply with the "Codes of Practice for the Welfare of Animals".

The codes are supposed to ensure that farm animals are treated in a humane way. Denying animals freedom of movement or exercise, docking tails, clipping teeth, castrating piglets, mulesing sheep, de-beaking hens and de-horning cattle - ALL WITHOUT ANAESTHETIC - is not humane.

If any of the above procedures involved a cat or dog it would result in a cruelty prosecution. Why are farm animals allowed to suffer? How can the government think that they aren't suffering?

Please help our farm animals and sign the petition to have the the 'Codes of Cruelty' changed.

186. Register Madaraka Party of Kenya

February 17, 2006

The "Register Madaraka Party of Kenya" Petition to be sent to "H.E President Mwai Kibaki, Attorney General Amos Wako, and Registrar of Societies"

Madaraka Party of Kenya was formed on June 11, 2005 to champion for the rights of youth, unemployed, poor workers, and peasants. On July 15, 2005, Madaraka Party submitted application for registration to the Registrar of Societies, Nairobi, Kenya.

On January 20, 2006, the Deputy Registrar informed Madaraka officials that "the government has put on hold registration of all political parties till further notice."

On January 29, 2006, the party wrote to the registrar seeking the following information:

1. "Who or which office in the government made the decision to put on hold the registration of political parties in Kenya?

2. Why has the government decided to put a hold on registration of political parties?

3. For how long will the hold be in place?

4. What is to happen to trigger the lifting of the hold on registration of political parties?

5. Under which law has the government based its decision to put on hold registration of political parties? Lastly, Is Kenya still a multiparty democracy or democracy is also on hold till further notice?"

There has been no response as of February 17, 2006.

188. Stop child abuse - In memory of Nixzmary

January 20, 2006

Far too many children in New York are being failed by the organizations that are set up to help them. Children are being abused on a daily basis.

The state has quoted over and over again that in every case where the report of failure in the intervention of a child abuse case is due to work overload. It's time for that to change.

How many more children must die like Nixzmary before they realize it? It's becoming increasingly evident that when reports are filed for suspected child abuse, Social Workers more often than not fail to follow up on them or in worse case scenerios fail to follow through and the child suffers more abuse or in the end the child dies.

Many times the courts return the children to the same parents that were abusing them. Again workers do not do a adequate job keeping track of these children. Again we ask, how many more children must die?

191. Louisiana Recovery Oil Tax

It is said that the reason the south Louisiana is eroding is because of lack of new sediments that used to come from the river. While this may be true to some extent it is not the main reason. Saltwater intrusion has done the most damage.

For over 50 year Oil exploration has helped destroy the wetlands in south Louisiana. The demand for Oil forced oil companies to disregard the environment in south Louisiana. Canals were dug through Freshwater Cypress Swamps into the Gulf of Mexico injecting saltwater into them and destroying them.

We need a reliable source of income to fund the projects that are needed to restore south Louisiana. We need our cypress swamps and barrier islands to protect us from the storms.

Please see the displayed web-site for further info.

As of 12-30-05 1200 signature on paper have been collected.

198. 2006 Repeal 0f the "Lautenberg Amendment"

December 18, 2005

This petition is electronically signed and submitted to Congress by the people of the United States Of America.

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Peoples' Rights and Second and Tenth Amendment Restoration Act of 2006'.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS AND PURPOSE.

(a) CONGRESSIONAL FINDINGS:

(1) Domestic Violence remains a very serious problem in the United States. It is a dangerous crime and should be punished as such, including, where appropriate, as a felony.

(2) Many States have classified Domestic Violence crimes as misdemeanors, others as felonies. States are the proper authority, rather than the Federal Government, to classify Domestic Violence offenses.

(3) Where appropriate, States should classify Domestic Violence offenses as a felony.

(4) Section 658 of Public Law 104-208, commonly referred to as the Lautenberg amendment, oversteps Federal authority, violating States' rights, because no nexus has been shown to exist between Domestic Violence and interstate commerce.

(5) The Lautenberg amendment does not deal with a subject delegated to Congress under article I, section 8 of the Constitution of the United States and is therefore unconstitutional under the tenth amendment to the Constitution, as interpreted by United States v. Lopez.

(6) The Lautenberg amendment oversteps Congress's power to regulate commerce as delineated by the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution.

(7) Some of the strictest gun control laws are found in cities where the number of incidents of guns being used in violent crimes is the highest. Therefore, the Lautenberg amendment does not reduce incidents of domestic violence.

(8) State and Federal judges already have the power to deny persons convicted of misdemeanors the right to possess firearms as a condition of probation or parole.

(9) The Lautenberg amendment is an unfunded Federal mandate because States are liable for the costs of monitoring those citizens who have been banned for life from owning a firearm. Many times this lifetime ban is a result of a misdemeanor, not a felony.

(10) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 violates all notions of constitutional due process and constitutes an ex post facto law because it imposes a criminal penalty on crimes which were not subject to that penalty at the time of the Act.

(11) Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year. Of these self-defense cases, as many as 200,000 are by women defending themselves against sexual assault.

(12) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 will, if allowed to stand, result in the disarming of millions of citizens, including women, on account of misdemeanor offenses which, in many cases, were committed long before the effective date of that Act.

(13) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 will, in many cases, disarm battered women who need access to firearms in order to protect themselves from their battering spouses as well as from common criminals.

(14) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 will, if allowed to stand, impose a lifetime gun ban on persons who committed acts so minor that they were not even entitled to a jury trial prior to conviction.

(15) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208, will, if allowed to stand, result in the disarming and dismissal of a significant number of law enforcement officers and American servicemen, on account of misdemeanors, which in many cases, were committed long before the effective date of that Act.

(16) Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 ignores the real problem surrounding domestic violence in that truly violent offenders are allowed to plea-bargain down to misdemeanors.

(b) PURPOSE- It is the purpose of this Act to restore States' rights, the tenth amendment, and second amendment freedoms.

SEC. 3. REPEALER.

Section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 is repealed and is null and void as if it had not been enacted, and all provisions of law amended by such section are restored as if section 658 had not been enacted.

SEC. 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.

This Act shall take effect as if included in the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208. Any liability, penalty, or forfeiture incurred by any person by reason of the application of any amendment made by section 658 of the Treasury-Postal portion of Public Law 104-208 is hereby extinguished, and any action or prosecution for the enforcement of any such liability, penalty, or forfeiture shall not be sustained.

(BY SIGNING THIS PETITION YOU AGREE THAT NO INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED OR USED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE THAN TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION ON THE CONTENTS OF THIS PETITION) Chris Nolan

200. LIFT PIT BULL BAN IN UK

December 17, 2005

For the past 15 years the American Pit Bull Terrier has been discriminated against by an out of date law known as the Dangerous Dogs Act (DDA) 1991.

This senseless law has ensured that this incredible breed has almost become extinct on the UK shores. The few aging APBT survivors are forced to be registered, muzzled and neutered. For a country which prides itself on being the birthplace of modern democracy its Government continues to act anything but democratic.

Those of us who are supporters of the breed are deprived of owning these dogs because they are "dangerous". There is no such thing as a dangerous dog, only a dangerous owner. Any dog can become dangerous if it is trained to hate and not properly socialised with other animals and humans. Is it not time that Governments introduced legistlation which punishes the human owners and not their dogs when they allow things to go wrong?

Please sign this petition and help us to overturn this senseless and stupid law. Thank you.

201. Change Victoria's overly harsh road laws

Currently in Victoria, Australia if you are found by the police to be driving at 3 km/h over the speed limit you get fined.

There are many reasons why this is ridiculous (especially considering the already abnormally low speed limits in Victoria) but what it comes down to is that the State Labor Party needs to understand that the road users of Victoria are not to be used as a source of revenue.

If the State Government wants to lower the road toll the best answer is to have the police department (who currently seem to do very little other than sit there with their speed radar guns) actively enforce stricter vehicle roadworthiness laws and make "Drivers Ed." a compulsory class at every Secondary School in Victoria (as is done in other countries with more relaxed speed limits but a lower road toll than Victoria/Australia).

This petition is to have the road laws in Victoria changed from a 3 km/h tolerance to a 10% tolerance (meaning you can do 55 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, 77 km/h in a 70 zone, 110 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, etc.) before you will get fined.

202. Stop creating racists and terrorists in the UK

People from the Muslim world have been settling in the U.K. for generations now and yet over the last 10 years the current of Racism has prevailed so strongly against people of that religion that even children who bear Arabic/Muslim names are treated inhumanely by officials of the Government especially the policies from Immigration and Citizenship.

Hilal Ali a mixed race child of African and Lebanese parentage. Parents divorced, Hilal moved to Lebanon with his father and family. His father remarried an English wife. When the war in Lebanon took the lives of most of his family, The Ali family moved to the U.K. Hilal, grew up in Essex and aged 14, his "mother" applied for his right to remain as her child in the U.K.she was advised to send him back to Lebanon still at war and with no living family there.

He remained in the U.K. and has lived here for the last 22 years. He was issued with all the documents given to a Naturalised Citizen, i.e.National Insurance/Tax code. Hilal many years ago realised his name was the cause of additional racism and so he had his name changed by deed poll. The Immigration has been in receipt of all his school, work, travel and work documents and each time he has applied over the years he has submitted the required. This week Mr Ali received a letter to say they have refused him his rights of abode and he can expect to be returned. But to where? He has no cultural links with Lebanon and there is a fear that this English man is a traitor or a spy and his life will be in grave danger.

The anger which comes from continuous racist policies of colour as well as religions has become real for many Muslim youths and they are LIVING IN THE U.K. The climate created by this Government is one of complete mistrust and disappointment and I know there are many Muslim communities where this is taking root and creating a new race of terrorists and counteractive racists.

The helpline given from Labour MP for Streatham is appreciated but he is alone and perhaps because of his large Asian/Afro Caribbean voters he is all too familiar with the realisation that Racism against children as adults will create terrorism within the society and the world, where those "refused" are sent to start a new life often in countries where the wars continue. The majority of such 'Refused' are African or Muslim.

203. Enforce Vinessa's Law

The law would allow local law enforcement officers to have the authority to act as HOME LAND SECURITY and issue violations for each illegal immigrant employed. Then based upon past violations, have the authority to shut down a business if they fail to comply after two violation convictions.

These laws have already been passed to defend Americans against the practice of hiring illegal immigrants yet rarely enforced. Vinessa's Law would also give the immigrant the opportunity to register and gain legal status through the proper channels or leave the country if they fail to comply.

Vinessa's Law would enforce the regulations already on record on a local level, thus giving Home Land Security a wider range of control.

So I am calling on all christians and people who believe in what the bible says to unite and protest against these athiest and other organizations and make it legal to say Jesus or God anywhere we may so choose, publicly or otherwise, without people beening able to sue or say that it is unethical.

If u believe that God exists why do u sit back and let people take your beliefs away from you. Its time for us as christians to fight for what we believe.
