91. Reduce the speed from 30mph to 25mph on Prairieview Parkway
Speeding in residential areas is one of the most common sources of citizen complaints to the police. Yet because speeding must compete with other problems for police attention, problems that may appear far more serious, the police often do not devote a lot of resources to it.
Speeding in residential areas causes five basic types of harm:
- it makes citizens fear for children's safety
- it makes pedestrians and bicyclists fear for their safety
- it increases the risk of vehicle crashes
-it increases the seriousness of injuries to other drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists struck by a vehicle
-it increases noise from engine acceleration and tire friction.
92. Fix Diabolical Pavements in Limehurst Square
The police have reported this several times to no avail.
93. Continue to Support all People and Care for the Mentally Ill
We have nothing to fear but fear itself, the words of President Roosevelt still outshine those of cowards and ignorant people such as the person or persons who penned the petition --
Stop Hermosa Beach from Becoming a Haven to the Homeless posted on March 06, 2009.
In the petition, the author(s) claims homeless people being drug users is a reason to enact laws to discriminate against the poor.
This is a comment from a person with no financial intelligence. The speculation that homeless people are drug users is mere fear motivated speculation.
Unlikely to be true since illegal drugs or legal drugs are produced by business minded people and organizations like pharmaceticul companies and so called drug lords. This interest in profit leads them to court customers of an income over $1200 every four months (my own income of late). The more likely consumers of these products are the homeowners in the community, and if people are to be removed from the community for being drug users, the city should survey all individuals for taking viagra, cialis, anti-depressants, cocaine, heroine, alcohol, and designer marijuana regardless of how much they spend on sandals, volleyballs, or homes.
Being homeless exposes you to the ignorance and inexperience of police forces and the most ignorant I have met were not in Hermosa, but Palo Alto, and Redondo, where I was threatened by a police officer until I allowed him to search my car. He said he did not believe in the 4th amendment. A pleasant thought, law enforcers who act according to their interpretations of the constitution. Keeping the low level of intelligence that most law enforcers have and the narrow life experience of the people that our country recruits, homeless people, often, the prey of choice for the ignorant, tend to avoid giving any excuse to police officers, also known as people with guns, to suspect them of any illegal behavior. This is an alternative response to terror than the Bush administrations.
These two reasons, a homeless persons exposure to gun toting police and their poverty, narrow the likelihood that any of them use half as many drugs as the homeowners in the community, and those that do are probably in need of time indoors for readjustment to that lifestyle, charity, kindness, and counseling.
So why did the author suggest this possibility? Either ignorance, fear or profit motive. I have never seen so many people so easily threatened by appearances. I have long hair and a beard and those two choices grant me power to silence most people on the sidewalks and streets of Hermosa Beach. I also have a sense of humor which gives me power to make those same people laugh and this is what I prefer.
Lastly, this is for the sake of the hermosa beach community, an ignorant public is easy to endanger with mind control. Don't except my opinions or those of the other person. Educate yourself, meet a homeless person, meet twenty. Inquire about their interests, passions, upbringing. Go home and think about who you know best in your life and how long it took you to know that person, then, go and meet the homeless person or hopefully by now you see her or him, young or old as a person with a name. Find a common interest and exploit it. Now you have a friend, and who needs greed when you have friends, right?
A person may be incurably psychotic and yet retain the dignity of a human being. Victor Frankl wrote this after his time as a detainee in a German concentration camp. It seems absurd to exclude the possibility for those not from Hermosa Beach or without six figure incomes.
Or if you prefer ABBA, take a chance on me. And travel outside your neighborhood, please!!!
The awful daring of a moment's surrender... no age of prudence can ever retract -- T.S. Eliot Be daring people of Hermosa Beach and remain kind (I met a lot of great people while I was there!).
94. Revoke All Liquor Licenses for Sushi Hai/Hai Bar
Due to a unique and potentially precedent setting misapplication of several extensive liquor licenses for Sushi Hai/Hai Bar, a large nightclub with entrances on residential Lowell Boulevard south of Highlands Square, we are experiencing a serious deterioration in the quality of life and basic moral values of our neighborhood.
Thru this petition, we are hoping to raise awareness of this issue with fellow residents, businesses and government officials. We hope this effort not only helps remedy the current situation via revocation of the licenses in question, but also serves as a marker to other businesses of this type attempting to place themselves in similarly inappropriate locations and unacceptable configurations throughout the wider Highlands neighborhood.
Not a Coincidence
Since Sushi Hai was granted a wide array licenses to expand to a two-hundred seat nightclub with entrances on a residential section of Lowell Boulevard south of 32nd Street (the so-called Hai Bar) we have witnessed a dramatic increase in disturbances and acts of vandalism. These incidents include, but are not limited to: assaults; persistent noise ordinance violations; littering; public urination and defecation; destruction of gardens; beer bottles thrown against homes; trespassing; patrons smoking and drinking alcohol in front of Sushi Hai against city ordinances. On Saturdays and Sundays since expansion, residential properties adjacent to Sushi Hai are and are now often littered with cigarette butts, partially filled liquor bottles and half eaten containers of sushi. A recent survey of the residents revealed that since Sushi Hai expanded to become the largest club in Highlands Square, over fifty calls were made to DPD emergency and non-emergency line concerning Sushi Hai and it’s patrons.
We stand certain that the dramatic increase in these incidents was made possible by the extensive and irresponsible liquor licensure of this business in its current inappropriate location. Due to these shortsighted policies, Sushi Hai is now one of the largest establishments of it’s kind in all of west Denver. Most offensively to us, its two entrances are located well down on residential Lowell Boulevard, it shares an interior wall with an eighty-year resident, and it has been licensed for liquor sales until 2 a.m. – keeping them open a full two hours later than all other establishments on the square.
Disturbances and Violence
According to the letter of the law and due to their close proximity to residential homes, Sushi Hai and their patrons violate city noise ordinances on a nightly basis. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the situation becomes oppressive. By 11:00 pm noisy patrons can be seen and heard loitering on the sidewalks on their way to Sushi Hai, often with open liquor containers. By 2:00 a.m, after all the other neighborhood establishments have been closed for two hours, it’s usually at it’s worst. Over served patrons yell, scream, and carry on loud conversations without regard to residents sleeping just a few feet away. We are also regularly awakened to the sights and sounds of Sushi Hai patrons returning to their parked cars to drink, listen to loud music, and continue their festivities. They have been seen throwing empty bottles, cans, and other trash, including used condoms, into our yards as they drive away.
There have also been violent scenes. A few months ago, a large and bloody street brawl erupted among Sushi Hai patrons, and spilled south down Lowell Boulevard. It resulted in a young man laying bleeding and unconscious in the middle of Lowell Boulevard, directly in front of a neighbor’s home. Of course the accompanying ambulances and police cars were a further disturbance, albeit a welcomed one. On a Saturday night in April, two households were awakened at 1:25 a.m. by an over served woman on the stairs Sushi Hai yelling unintelligibly. Neighbors called the non-emergency police number. She was physically restrained by a Sushi Hai security guard/DPD officer for thirty minutes, yelling and screaming a few feet from residents homes, and finally began screaming, Rape, Rape, Rape. Those who heard were horrified and called police emergency. She was finally picked her up in a paddy wagon after 2 a.m. One warm midnight last fall as windows were open and music blared from the car parked in front of his house, the father of a sick infant, went to the car and politely requested that the occupants decrease the volume. The father, who recognized the men as Sushi Hai patrons, was threatened that if he didn’t stop harassing them, he would be shot. That family will be moving from this Highlands neighborhood in May.
95. Moratorium against the use of tasers
-Moratorium against the use of tasers by the police and the transit security;
-the use of tasers by transit police is far outside guidelines that say they should be used only if someone is suicidal, violent or about to injure himself or someone else;
-Translink police are Canada's only armed transit police force;
-60 more people have died since Robert Dziekanski after being Tasered by police, including five Canadians;
-At least 286 people in North America have died since 2001 after being stunned by the TASER's 50,000 volt discharge
-There is no way of knowing whether individual Taser weapons meet the manufacturer's specifications;
-There are no Canadian safety testing standards of any kind for the devices;
-It is entirely possible that some weapons discharge much more electrical energy than they are supposed to, and that police officers are unwittingly killing people as a result;
-TASER and the law enforcement community often point to other factors that they say actually cause death;
-such as drug or alcohol use or a phenomenon they have coined "excited delirium", which is not a recognized medical condition;
-TASER International says so-called "excited delirium" is a potentially fatal condition.
-Here are some questions: How many people have died of "excited delirium" in the last five years in situations that did not involve law enforcement? Do people only reach potentially lethal levels of excitement or delirium when they are accosted by peace officers?
-Tasers are arguably being overused by police;
-They have reportedly been used to shock children as young as six (in Florida) and an 82 year old woman was recently shocked in Chicago;
-Amnesty International studied 271 fatalities and found that the victim was unarmed in all but 22 of the cases. Most of these victims were no risk to anyone.
-He has put a freeze on hiring public safety workers
-He has given pay cuts to first responders
-He is closing several firehouses and only replacing one, resulting in slower response times
-He has refused to use "rainy day funds" to pay city employees
-Mismanagement of metro government funds
-unfair labor practices
-refusing to follow federal judgement against the city
-gave away land at a time when the city was in an economic crisis
97. Justice for Abused and At Risk Children
Baby P and others such as Amy Howson, Victoria Climbie and many others have been abused, tortured and finally murdered by the very people who should have cared for them; The Social Services, the Police, the Medical Profession have all too often failed children like these although they say Never Again there has been an Again over and over;
98. NOUS DISONS NON AU DIKTAT POLICIER ET JUDICIAIRE
NOUS DISONS NON AU DIKTAT POLICIER ET JUDICIAIRE
99. Require Reflective House Numbers on City Curbs or Sidewalks
The City of Pensacola already has city ordinances that:
(a) require owner/occupant of a home to clearly display address numbers on the building(11-4-154)
(b)describe the size, type, location of numerals(11-4-153)
(c)require the city engineer to designate address numbers(11-4-153)
(d)hold homeowners responsible for cleanliness and safety of curbs, sidewalks, and gutters(11-4-16)
(e)provide for subdivision and contractor rules for building and maintaining curbs and sidewalks(12-8)
Although homeowners may have their addresses labeled on the home, they are in different places on each home, about 20-100 feet from the street, not lighted at night, and usually obscured by landscaping.
Nationwide studies show that these problems results in losses of life due to delays in emergency response times. In an emergency situation the difference between life or death may be just a few seconds.
I believe that if every home clearly had their address numbers displayed on the curb, sidewalk, or driveway (closest to the street and at headlight level), with reflective labels that are visible at night, it would not only reduce response times for EMS, Police, and Fire Departments, but also save lives.
This would also benefit any person or group that regularly needs to find homes such as new mailmen, parcel or food deliveries, home service calls, neighborhood watch programs, etc.
If the purchase of reflective address numbering is left up to the individuals that either occupy or own the homes, most will find an excuse not to have their address visible at night from the road. When it comes to saving lives, one cannot rely solely on a free economic system to provide all the solutions. Clearly in a post-911 world, when it comes to the safety and well-being of citizens, any government has an obligation to make sure that every step is taken to eliminate the risks of loss of life and destruction of property.
I propose that the City Council amend city ordinances in section 11 to require that house address numbers are clearly displayed on the curb, sidewalk, or driveway in front of every home in at least 4 inch white letters, and a contrasting background; with weatherproof curb paint and a reflective finish.
I also propose that the City Council amend section 12 to require new subdivisions to do the same.
In order for the City to afford such a massive undertaking would not be very difficult. I propose that the cost be added to the homeowner's property tax. I suggest a cost of 10 dollars for every home, with 2 dollars of that going directly to local police, fire, or ems departments.
If I were awarded the bid for this contract, the costs would break down like this:
If using the proper type of paint, the approximate cost of painting each address label is around 3 dollars. The cost of labor for each label would be around 5 dollars. This would leave 2 dollars out of the 10 for donation to city safety management agencies.
I estimate that to complete the 55,000 homes (or less that have curbs) would take no longer than 1 year.
100. Change Police Officer Hiring Requirements!!
Did you know that to be a police officer in the state of Florida you have to have good credit. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Also passing a polygraph exam. Obviously many of the officers hired had a good enough credit score and also passed their lie detector test.
But what does that tell you about them as a person or what does it say about them being a good officer? I'll tell you what, nothing.
Here's an example::: Miami, Fl
A Miami, Fl police officer was charged with animal cruelty and another offense after he kicked a police dog into unconsciousness, according to The Police News. The incident is said to have occurred after “Duke,” a 4-year-old German Shepherd, barked (when he shouldn't have) during a training exercise at the Miami Dade Training Bureau.
The officer, “lost it,” a source of Local 10 Florida said. The officer, a 27-year police veteran and 25-year canine officer was arrested after the dog collapsed. Duke was rushed to an animal clinic by the officer after he shook the dog and realized that Duke was unconscious. The dog later died at the clinic.The officer has been placed on administrative duty with pay since the investigation began.
So the good people that maybe have a little something on their credit because of tough times or because of some bad luck and did not pass the polygraph have to suffer and not be able to serve their communities as an officer of the law. Polygraph test are not 100% effective and having good credit doesn't make you a good person. As you read in the previous example.
Lets join together to eliminate this "requirement" and from letting good people join the police force. My husband a Unites States Marine with an honorable discharge, now in the Army Reserve, never done drugs, good moral character, great citizen, hard working, overall great individual who is more than highly qualified for this job was turned down because of bad credit that his ex wife caused not him. There has to be a better way to hire good police officers.
101. Clayton Miller Petition For Justice
Clayton Miller was found dead on May 6, 1990. He disappeared during a police raid at a secluded outdoor party area called "the nest" in New Waterford, NS on the night of May 4, 1990.
Several people traveled the area of the nest on May 5, 1990 (including the spot on which Clayton's body was discovered on May 6, 1990). Clayton's body was not there. The New Waterford, NS Police deny having the boy in custody from May 4, 1990 to May 6, 1990.
Police photos of the boy's body, documented evidence and years of investigation by the family of Clayton Miller, clearly show the murder of this boy and cover-up afterwards.

103. We seek support from rest of India
J & K Governor Gen, Sinha surveyed condition of pilgrims of Amarnath yatra & found that people have to relax in open tents and therefore he signed a project for constucting permanent shelters for pilgrims and alotted 100 acres (800 cannals) of land to shrine board after passing it in J & K assembly.
The Forest Minister in the Cabinet was from the PDP, a coalition partner in the government. Yet they (the PDP) refused to accept responsibility for the joint decision (of allocating forest land to set up temporary structures for facilities for Hindu pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra) Then PDP and some Pro-pakistan parties started agitating against decision with anti nationalist slogans and ransacking public property.
The Congress sans PDP minority Govt took decision back and surrendered in front of these anti nationalist and fundamentalist forces. People of Jammu started agitating against this anti national, anti harmony decision with all groups together. Later jammu muslim comunity supported agitation through a press conference. When Omar Abdullah gave statement in parliament that his people will not give an inch of land to pilgrims or shrine board ; emotions n sentiments of jammu people ran high and one of the protesters KULDIP DOGRA commited sucide in front of 500 people.
At 3:00 am next day police took his body after beating his family, AND STARTED cremating HIS BODY BEFORE SUNRISE AT 4:00 AM WHICH IS AGAINST HINDUISUM. one of the family member used local temple loudspeaker and informed people, Anger rose high and people started beating police .Police hit back and violent agitation turned into massive rallies with more than 40,000 people. Police killed 2 protesters days after. Latest opression is that Local Cable TV as well as SMSes have been banned in Jammu.
Most sadly these people are not getting required support from national media against such dictatorship and their lonely battle is still ON.
104. Keep cop-killer in prison
On April 7, 1969, Joseph McDonald was arrested for shoplifting at Petrie's Dress Shop, 322 Euclid Ave., by John McNamara, an off-duty Cleveland Police Officer. McDonald attacked Officer McNamara, and was able to disarm him (shooting him in the process).
McDonald then turned the weapon on a second off-duty Cleveland Police Officer, John Apanites Jr., killing him with four bullets.
McDonald (who had 37 prior arrests) was eventually apprehended, tried, convicted, and sentenced to death. However, because the U.S. Supreme Court threw out all death penalties wholesale in 1972, McDonald's sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.
Due to the State of Ohio's definition of life imprisonment, McDonald has an opportunity for parole in 2009.
105. People of the street should be appointed as Judges
I'm sick to death of the judicial system with so called Judges letting criminals of scott free or far to lightly.
The majority of Judges that preside over our courts are out of date dinosaurs who have no idea what its like to live in the real world.
Here's our chance to get something done about it.
Stand with me brothers and sisters and together we can make a difference.
On July 29, 2007, Dibor Roberts, a 48 year old black female, an African born woman naturalized in the US in 2006, was driving home from her job as a nursing assistant at 10:30PM. A Yavapai County Sheriff's deputy says he clocked her speeding on Beaverhead Flat Rd. He came up behind her, turned on his lights. She was afraid to stop in an unlit area and wanted to get to a lighted area.
There had been recent reports of police impersonators and she was afraid. He cut her off forcing her to stop, approached her car with gun drawn, broke her rear passenger window, took her cellphone and threw it on the ground, pulled her from her car and handcuffed her. She was charged with assaulting the officer, fleeing and resisting arrest. The assault charge was dropped. She was convicted on May 16 of resisting arrest and fleeing.
The judge sentenced her to 6 months unsupervised probation and reduced one charge to a misdemeanor. Dibor Roberts was not fleeing - she was afraid and was trying to get to a lighted area. The police recommend that women do that -- but until it is a law, women are not protected from police impersonators or from officers exerting unnecessary force in making a stop.
107. Reinstate The ITV3 Repeats Of The Bill
When you compare the amount of repeats that a programme like Coronation Street or Emmerdale receives from ITV, The Bill is quite clearly lacking in such support. With regular audiences of between 4 to 6 million The Bill is always in the top 20 of shows and could pull in even more viewers for them - IF we had the repeats back.
It's bad enough being cancelled for every football match/other programme that takes the fancy of ITV but not being able to catch a repeat of the episode when the entire network is saturated by soap repeats is unfair.
108. No.10 Petition Against Deaths in Custody
4WardEver UK and The United Families & Friends Campaign challenges the Prime Minister to intervene in what we believe to be a lack of justice for families following a death in custody.
What We Demand:
-Deaths must be investigated by a body that is genuinely independent of the
police.
-Prison & Mental Health deaths must be subject to a system of properly funded
investigation independent of the Prison Service and Health Service.
-Officers involved in custody deaths are suspended until investigations are
completed.
-Prosecutions should automatically follow 'unlawful killing' verdicts at inquests.
-Police forces are made accountable to the communities that they serve.
-Legal Aid and full disclosure of information be made to the relatives of the
victims.
-Officers and staff responsible for deaths should face criminal charges, even if
retired.
The following are statements from affected families:
"The struggle for justice for all the others that have died at the hands of the
state, goes on. We ask people to support us."
"It is not in the public interest for the victims of deaths in custody to be denied”
109. Noosa / Cooroy Road Danger Saver !!
Our brother was killed on Noosa / Cooroy road recently due to traffic stopped to turn into a dangerous drive way on this road. It is 100 km an hour with no over taking lanes and you just don't have the time to prepare yourself for what may be around the corner.
Myself and my family are taking on the Minister for Roads to reduce the speed limit on this horror stretch or to widen the road so that other cars doing the 100 km speed limit have somewhere to go other than up the back of the car infront.
Many similar accidents just like this one have happened along this horror stretch and it is honestly one of the most dangerous roads that many know of on the Sunshine Coast.
This has not been the only incident of its kind recently. Since losing Jayden, there have been at least 3 other similar situations and I am sure that there will be plenty more unless something is done about this. The police and residence of this area have also been fighting to have something done.
If these roads were in the middle of suburbia, the speed limit would be nowhere near this high. But for some reason, just because the only thing on either side of the road is grass, this somehow makes it safe to hit triple digits on the speedometer?
If you are here to sign this petition and you find that it wont let you because your details are already listed, this is because you have already signed our petition when we were walking the streets asking for signatures and we have transferred your name onto this online one. I hope this is ok. We have not entered any street names or such, just first & last names and suburb.
110. Clean up Pinelawn Police Department
Pinelawn police depart has a history of being filthy. Rodents and bugs share the cells with the visitors. Toilets are never cleaned and there is no hand soap to prevent diseases.
There are not enough cell bunk beds there for the number of visitors, so you are made to sleep on the floor with filth that has been building up over the years.
Males and females have to share restrooms and females have special needs monthly.
Most importantly, if an officer id not in a good mood you may not be able to take your medicine or get the proper medical attention needed.
111. Benazir Bhutto : May Her Soul Rest in Peace
Pakistan former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has died after a suicide bombing that killed at least 14 of her supporters, ex-government spokesman Tariq Azim Khan and Pakistan's primary television networks said.
Bhutto is helped from her vehicle following the October 18 suicide attack on her motorcade.
1 of 2 Bhutto suffered bullet wounds in the aftermath of the bomb attack, TV networks report.
Video of the scene just moments before the explosion showed Bhutto stepping into a heavily-guarded vehicle to leave the rally.
Khan said while it appeared Bhutto was shot, it was unclear if her bullet wounds were caused by a shooting or shrapnel from the bomb.
The suicide attack left at least 14 dead and 40 injured, Khan told CNN in a telephone interview.
The attacker is said to have detonated a bomb as he tried to enter the rally where thousands of people gathered to hear Bhutto speak, police said.
Video from the scene of the blast broadcast from Geo TV showed wounded people being loaded into ambulances.
Up to 20 people are dead, the report said.
Earlier, four supporters of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif died when members of another political party opened fire on them at a rally near the Islamabad airport Friday, local police said.
Several other members of Sharif's party were wounded, police added.
While President Pervez Musharraf has promised free and fair parliamentary elections next month, continued instability in the tribal areas and the threat of attack on large crowds has kept people from attending political rallies and dampened the country's political process.
Campaigners from various political groups say fewer people are coming out to show their support due to government crackdowns and the threat of violence.
112. Objection against Musharaf and the government of Pakistan!

* disrespected the constitution of 1973
* declared emergency
* suspended and dissolved the judiciary
* banned media
06.11.2007:
* 1000's of people been detained
* 1000's of people harassed and beaten up
* demonstrations trough out the country

* Imran Khan arrested, harassed, humiliated by the police
16.11.2007:
* Under extreme pressure from Musharraf and the
government Geo News and Ary Oneworld has been shut
down late Friday night
Generally:
Since the imposition of the emergency in Pakistan, Musharaf have not allowed people to hold demonstrations, public gatherings etc.
When ever or who ever have tried to organize a demonstration have been detained and harassed by the police - not only the organizers but also children, women and elders who are participating in the demonstrations are harassed and detained.
The media are not allowed to show the truth - they were approached by Government to sign a agreement on what they could show on TV - GEO and ARY refused, today, on the 16.11.2007 after tremendous pressure from Musharaf both channels has closed!
Musharaf is doing what ever he can do to hide the truth!
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS PETITION YOU MAY CONTACT US AT: long.live.pakistan@hotmail.com
This petition is started to give Mr. Robert Dziekanski justice, and also justice to his mother and family. It is started as well to protect all of us that live in Canada. If this incident is allowed to "disappear" and be quietly "resolved", then it WILL happen again.
It is high time that the R.C.M.P. be held truly accountable for their actions this time. The R.C.M.P. have demonstrated that they have no respect for either the weapon (Taser Gun) or the people of whom they inflict it upon.
This gentleman had died at the R.C.M.P.'s hands in less time than it takes to make a cup of coffee and they made ABSOLUTELY NO ATTEMPT to help him. Please see the video link below for the tragedy that unfolded.
Please see video here.
The above video courtesy of CTV News, with appreciation.
This man was dead in minutes.
If they (R.C.M.P.) are allowed to continue onwards WITHOUT any reprimand whatsoever, what does that say for our quality of life in Canada, and how we as Canadians regard it? More importantly, what does that say about how we that live in Canada will be treated by the R.C.M.P. in the future?
If it happened to him, it can happen to anyone. That has been shown now, as the latest incident at the Vancouver International Airport clearly demonstrates.
**RCMP arrived shortly after 1:30 a.m. and Dziekanski was dead within minutes.**
** Above Excerpt** from the CTV website, article: With a report from CTV British Columbia's Peter Grainger in Vancouver.
**The incident is being investigated by the RCMP's civilian oversight body.**

How can any justice be served when the R.C.M.P are being investigated by their "civilian Body"???
The answer is simple. It can't. Period.
Before someone else's father, son, brother, or even sister, daughter, mother dies this way again, we MUST ban Taser guns. 17 people to this date have died in Canada since 2003.

**2006 Taser-related death toll: 65
January 3, 2007
Sixty-five more people died in North America after being Tasered by police in 2006, bringing the total number of such fatalities to 232. The Taser is a controversial "less than lethal" weapon that is designed to inflict excruciating pain and incapacitate subjects with 50,000 volts of electricity. Despite the number of Taser-related deaths, and the deaths of a number of animals as well, the manufacturer and law enforcement officials maintain the weapon is safe.**
This is also courtesy with thanks from A. Cameron Ward & Company, BARRISTERS & SOLICITORS, Vancouver, BC.
http://www.cameronward.com/tasers/
**An unidentified man died after he was Tasered by RCMP at the Vancouver International Airport early this morning. He is at least the 283rd person to die in North America after being shocked with the Taser's 50,000 volt electrical output. Sixteen of those deaths have occurred in Canada since 2003, and the latest is the sixth BC fatality. The RCMP has been involved in eight of the Canadian deaths.
The police will investigate this incident themselves and clear the Taser of any responsibility, perhaps blaming the unfortunate man's death on "excited delerium", which is not a recognised medical condition.
The Taser was quietly introduced into Canada in 2000, without any public debate or prior independent safety testing. Although electric fences and cattle prods must undergo rigorous tests before being sold, the Taser is subject to no such control.**

News Service No: 110
14 June 2007
**In a recently released report, Amnesty International outlines how the use of tasers by law enforcement officers in Canada raises a number of concerns. The first is the more serious, but less widespread incidence of death following taser use, while the second is the pervasive inappropriate use of the weapon.**
Need I say more?
We must serve the proper justice to his Mother and to Robert Dziekanski himself. Most importantly, we must use the freedom of speech that we value and cherish to ensure that this never happens again, and speak up NOW!
After all, if we don't, then who will?
114. Keep The Highway Public House in Hoddesdon open
The Highway public house in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire is at risk of losing its license to trade because of a recent police drugs raid.
The raid resulted in only 2 arrests, both of which were for possession of illegal substances and were later released by the police.
The size of the raid and resulting action was disproportionate to both the size and character of this family oriented pub. The pub licensees, Ian and Sue Bradford have never condoned the use or dealing of drugs of any kind on their premises and would immediately bar anyone caught doing so.
The Highway is a responsibly run, friendly, non violent venue, which accommodates family clientèle with their children, including the licensee's own.
Action resulting in closure of the pub would be tragic, as it is a pillar of the local community and would ruin their continuing work for the Royal British Legion charity.
115. Erie County needs more animal control officers! STOP SHOOTING DOGS!
I have lived in Erie County all of my life.
I know these events are true from the media, and witnesses. I also know Erie does not have a reduced cost spay/neuter program, nor a catch/fix/release program for feral cats.
116. Brockhill Road Safety Petition
Speed Limits in the Brockhill area of Redditch are being regularly ignored.
Of particular concern are the following roads:
The B4184 (30mph)/Brockhill Drive (40mph)
Lily Green Lane (30mph)
Salters Lane (30mph)
Local residents regularly observe traffic breaking the speed limit.
At evenings and weekends the engine noise of excessive acceleration can frequently be heard specifically on the B4184, but also on Lily Green Lane and Salters Lane.
Residents are not satisfied that the police do not react to the reckless endangerment of life in this area and would like our elected representatives to ensure that this matter is fully investigated and action is taken to prevent future injury and or loss of life.
117. Pay Police Recruits
Although the NSW Police Force is overwhelmed with current number of recruits, there is definitely no abundance of recruits that will still be in the job 5 years later.
There is a high turnover in staff in the NSW Police Force due to the fact that there are a lot of young recruits who don’t see the career through. This is causing problems as higher ranking officers are decreasing thus shortening the number of experienced officers out in the field. I see this as a problem.
Knowing that there are higher skilled officers on the street makes me feel safer in my community. Younger officers these days are not the issue. Younger officers that are inexperienced in life are the issue. Which is my finding with my interactions with police officers. Any potential members of the NSW Police Force are unable to apply due to their financial commitment regarding their Mortgage, transport, and Family responsibilities. This is a problem that is seeing a waste of talent across the state.
Instead of pouring the required funds into paying our much needed recruits (the future of our Police Force) the Police Minister for NSW is more concerned about pushing recruitment drives in other Commonwealth Countries such as Canada, Great Brittan and New Zeland, and inviting members of their currently serving Police Service to take up employment as an Australian Police Officer with an attractive benifit. These officers will keep their current rank and salary under NSW Police Force employment.
For a probationary constable in Canada their annual salary is $45,504 (Canadian Dollar) A NSW Police Officer will earn $48,000 (AUD). For a Canadian Officer to join the Australian police force it will cost our Tax Payers around an extra $4,826 annually per officer that is recruited to Australia from Canada which is the minimum it will cost Tax payers if Probationary Constables are recruited.
Canada’s Police Officers annual salary below.
Probationary Constable
$45,504
4th Class Constable (after 1 year of service) $52,504
3rd Class Constable (after 2 years of service) $56,005
2nd Class Constable (after 3 years of service) $63,005
1st Class Constable (after 4 years of service) $70,006
10 yrs with increment
requirement fulfilled (105%) $73,506
Now the interesting fact is that the NSW Police Force Minister is so concerned about budget that he sees it unnecessary to pay recruits. Yet put together the additional cost of $4,826 it will cost just to employ 1 overseas officers, and the cost of running the recruitment drive in the participating countries. It could potentially be millions of dollars. If just 100 Probationary Canadian Constables are employed in NSW it will Cost 482,600 alone as a minimum annually.
The government is hypercritical with the push that everything we have is Australian made and owned to keep jobs in Australia, yet it is so willing to outsource all the advertising and job vacancies to other commonwealths. This will in fact take work out of the Australian workforce for no justified reason at all. This all comes down to a government is not prepared to spend time in programs to keep NSW Police.
PAY OUR RECRUITS
KEEP OUR FORCE STRONG
118. Justice For Kurt Cobain NOW
There have been serious, legitimate concerns raised in regards to the Seattle Police Department's handling of the Kurt Cobain death scene investigation in April of 1994.
These include claims and implications of the withholding of vital information and behind the scenes cover-ups.
The events surrounding the death of Kurt Cobain are filled with lies, contradictions in logic, and countless inconsistencies. Yet, the Department to this day:
(1.) Has continued to staunchly refuse to acknowledge its numerous errors and downright negligence in managing the case; and
(2.) Adamantly denies the need for reopening, or intention to reopen, the investigation.
There are legitimate, documented reasons to believe that his death was not the
result of suicide, but in fact homicide.
These include:
1. No legible fingerprints found on the gun that was laying on Kurt’s body at the time of his death.
2. Triple the lethal dose of heroin found in his blood at the time of death. Medical experts have confirmed that this amount of heroin would have completely incapacitated Mr. Cobain, a recovered addict at the time of his death, to the point of being incapable of removing a needle from his arm, let alone pick up a shotgun.
3. When found, the shotgun was laying across Mr. Cobain’s chest with the ejection port of the gun to the right of his body. The spent shell casing was found on the left side of his body. With nothing around for the casing to ricochet off, it is illogical for the casing to have been on the left side of the body.
Other important points to consider include the following:
1. The last four lines of Kurt’s “suicide note” were written in someone else’s handwriting, and that ink was newer than the body of the note, say professional handwriting experts, who have examined the letter.
2. Courtney Love-Cobain, by her own admission, planted phony media stories and made false missing persons’ and police reports during the few weeks before and around the time of her husband’s death. For example, she called the police to their residence, claiming that Kurt was suicidal, and had locked himself in a room with a gun, when in fact, there was no gun.
3. Kurt, at the time of his death, was trying to get away from his wife, Courtney Love. Just before Kurt was found dead, he asked Rosemary Carroll, his lawyer, to draw up divorce papers and to amend his will, effectively excluding Courtney. Additionally, he wanted custody of their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
4. Ms. Cobain was, apparently, a “close acquaintance” of Medical Examiner Nikolas Hartshorne, who investigated Mr. Cobain’s death.
5. Eldon Hoke, singer of a band called the mentors, claimed he was offered $50,000 by Courtney to kill Kurt in September 1993. On March 6, 1996, Hoke was administered a polygraph test by Dr. Edward Gelb, who is one of the country’s leading polygraph experts and teaches the advanced polygraph course for the FBI. Hoke passed the lie detector test with 99.7% certainty that he was telling the truth. Soon after, Hoke was found dead on a railroad track.
6. Kristin Pfaff, bass guitar player for Courtney Love’s band, was trying to get away from Courtney, just like Kurt. Called "a beautiful soul" by Mr. Cobain, Courtney once apparently complained that Pfaff "constantly makes eyes at my husband". She was found dead of an "accidental overdose" approximately 72 days after Kurt's death.
7. To this day, apparently Ms. Love continues to dodge and evade the subject, even going so far as intimidating and threatening “accusers” with legal action. There have even been
reports that friends and acquaintances have been forced to sign contracts that prohibit them to even speak about the case to the media!
8. When it became known that Kurt was “missing”, Courtney, who was staying in a hotel in Los Angeles, called and told different media sources that she had been hospitalized and arrested for drug possession. The dates of these false accounts coincide with the date Kurt was thought to have died. It would seem that she was trying to establish an alibi to put her farthest from the crime scene, protecting her from being implicated in her husband’s death.
These are just a few of the many compelling, troubling and disconcerting reasons why this case deserves to be re-opened and investigated.
Kurt Cobain was an icon for the 90’s generation. His death shook the lives of many people. This shameful miscarriage of justice has led to 60+ “copy-cat” suicides and untold grief on the part of friends, family members, and millions of fans.
As concerned fans, we hope and expect that this case will now promptly be given the investigation it properly deserves.

119. Bandit's Petition
Bandit’s inhumane death was brought to my attention by the following link:
http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/95043?source=rss&dest=STY-95043
This article outlines a situation that occurred on 8/11/07 when an officer of the Chandler, AZ police department left his K9 in his police cruiser for 13 hours, resulting in the poor dog’s horrible death.
Claims in this article state that the police officer was at the very most negligent, and only if found otherwise will he face punishment. So, this officer will at the very most get a slap on the wrist for his ‘lost’ state of mind.
I am starting Bandit’s Petition in hopes that something more will be done for that poor innocent soul that needlessly died that hot summer day.
I, like many others find that officer Lovejoy’s negligence is not only hypocritical, but punishable as well.
120. Help Pass Laws to Give Rights to Voyeurism Victims
My ten year old daughter was excitedly awaiting her 11th sleepover birthday party. While she and her friends were enjoying what was supposed to be an exciting night, her father secretly set up a video camera in our bathroom and video taped these girls using the bathroom and undressing.
I found the tapes upon cleaning and when I saw what was on them a friend and I called the police. The police took the tapes and a year battle in court pursued with his lawyer committing stall tactics. He had control over all our assets and when he finally got a slap on the wrist and was sent to jail for less than a year, we are told we have no rights, he was able to take all our possession and leave us about to be homeless and no monies to start over.
The law has no rights for victims under these circumstances and we were told to "shut up and move on with your life". While he was going through courts he was able to work two jobs and do a few episodes of Rescue Me. My daughter and I are scraping by to find a new home and were left with a great debt while he doesn't have to do anything for us! The law is treating us like criminals that, we made our choice by reporting him and now we have to except the circumstances.
Please I beg you, he got a slap on the wrist and we are the ones who lost everything! The lawyers have told me that it's not worth a lawsuit cause he doesn't have to comply(he never complied with all the stipulated agreements) I want justice and we keep getting places in front a stone wall!
