1. Prosecution of the EPA and government officials for Ground Zero Air Quality Victims

As of February 2012 there are now 25 New cases of Cancer of NYPD officers who worked at Ground Zero.

Many were told that the air was safe but this was false and if not a flat out lie.

A need for trial to scrutinize who knew what and when they knew it.

Justice for victims and those families who have lost loved ones.

5. Clean up Pinelawn Police Department

Pinelawn police depart has a history of being filthy. Rodents and bugs share the cells with the visitors. Toilets are never cleaned and there is no hand soap to prevent diseases.

There are not enough cell bunk beds there for the number of visitors, so you are made to sleep on the floor with filth that has been building up over the years.

Males and females have to share restrooms and females have special needs monthly.

Most importantly, if an officer id not in a good mood you may not be able to take your medicine or get the proper medical attention needed.

6. Bandit's Petition

Bandit’s inhumane death was brought to my attention by the following link:

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/95043?source=rss&dest=STY-95043

This article outlines a situation that occurred on 8/11/07 when an officer of the Chandler, AZ police department left his K9 in his police cruiser for 13 hours, resulting in the poor dog’s horrible death.

Claims in this article state that the police officer was at the very most negligent, and only if found otherwise will he face punishment. So, this officer will at the very most get a slap on the wrist for his ‘lost’ state of mind.

I am starting Bandit’s Petition in hopes that something more will be done for that poor innocent soul that needlessly died that hot summer day.

I, like many others find that officer Lovejoy’s negligence is not only hypocritical, but punishable as well.

8. Stop Random NYC Subway Searches

Since the terrorist attacks on London's train stations in July or 2005, the NYPD has been conducting random bag searches.

However the searches are not truly random (an announcement is made ahead of time of the possibility of the polices' presence) nor are they effective. Every tenth person should be searched according to the police department but this is not always the case making the process even more futile.

A disproportionate amount of check stops are located in black and latino neighborhoods making unfair racial profiling a factor. This process appears to be promoting the very fear it is intended to soothe.

9. Civil Rights for Damien Mitchell

This young man Damien Mitchell made the head lines of a local newspaper after he was shoot 3 times and almost killed and the newspaper did not post any concerns of the shooting incident but printed this youngs man past history on the front Page which was not necessary.

Whatever he was charged with in the past and convicted on in the past is not relevent to this case. I feel that his rights was violated. He still should be treated as a human regardless of his past.

Does his shooting get ignored because he has a past? Does the Police Department have the right to slander his name?

10. Protect Maitland Citizens with State Police and Fire Department Accredidation

State Accreditation is the highest standard that a Police / Fire Department can receive. To earn this designation the agency in question needs to attain an overall level of proficiency in service delivery, operations, record keeping, process, etc.

What this means for you and me is that we are assured that our emergency personnel have achieved and maintain the highest standards in their care of us. In essence it would be like going to a "Board Certified" Doctor versus a "Non Board Certified" Doctor.

Beyond the highest level of service, this accreditation allows us to earn greater grant money from various agencies. For example, if two otherwise equal agencies are applying for a grant, than more likely than not the agency that has accreditation will earn the grant versus a non accredited agency.

In Maitland our Police Department first earned State Accreditation about 4 years ago and was re-accredited 2 years ago (no easy task). Last year our Fire Department began the process of attempting to earn its accreditation, it is important that they achieve this standard.

Usually it is an annual evaluation that occurs at a given time of year for all agencies.

17. Reconsideration of Reorganization of the Richardson Police Department, Richardson, TX

The Richardson Police Department has, in conjunction with the Richardson City Council and the City Manager, proposed a full reorganization of the police department. The reorganization will eliminate almost all positions of the Investigations division and place officers that vacated these positions in the Patrol division. The Crime Prevention division would also be eliminated. The result of these moves would force a patrol officer in a given area to handle all aspects of law enforcement from report writing for an offense to investigating the offense (which almost always entails interviewing victims and witnesses, let alone searching for perpetrators of the offense). The patrol officer would also be responsible for preventing crime in the respective area.

We, as concerned Richardson citizens, feel that the patrol officers would be unable to efficiently manage all of the aforementioned duties. We ask that the City Council take a step back and reconsider this reorganization, taking into account all of the views and concerns that have been voiced since this plan had been initially considered.
