Petition Tag - poles
The utility poles on Quan Ave in front of Tillman Elementary School are an unsafe obstruction in the traffic right-of-way.
These utility poles pose a very real hazard to students, staff, and families while crossing the street, driving, circulating, and parking, as well as during student drop-off/pick-up.
These utility poles need to be relocated.
2. Save the North Pole and Polar Bears 
As you all may know that oil and gas prices have hit an all-time high this year because of the shortages of fossil fuels. Now all of the gases are in the atmosphere and causing global warming and making the North Pole melt.
And if it melts then many species are going along with it--including the polar bear, which is endanged already. Some governments dont care. They're now fighting over who gets all of the oil that lays beneath all the layers of ice that will soon be gone if we don't do anything. There is casual media talk of vast oil and gas troves beneath the Arctic Ocean.
Russia estimates range up to 10 billion tons, but no one really know for sure. Ideally, in 50 years, the Arctic Ocean will be what it is today, a remote wilderness where God's cold and silence reign. I don't want any species living there to go extinct because of our horrible mistakes. I say that the governments come up with a different way to make our machines run. They could use water, solar, hydrogen or wind energy. They haven't even tried it for all we know. They could try it before doing anything drastic.
Have you ever thought about how much water there would be if the ice caps melted?
It would be like the edges of all the continents filling in slowly, out to in! So do something! Because if that happens even more species will go along with that!!!
So save the North Pole and Polar Bears!!

3. The Environment Needs OUR Help!
The background information is pretty much that our environment is turning into a dump.
Rainforests are being cut down, and the ozone layer is completely disappearing. Global warming is for a fact, happening. The evidence of global warming is Al Gore's documentation called "An Inconvenient Truth".
Many animals are dying because of global warming, such as polar bears and penguins. They are dying at increasing rates and will end up extinct. In the documentation "An Inconvenient Truth", Al Gore shows stunning statistics.
The one that I found most stunning is that if we continue on like this, some of our major cities will be totally underwater because of the melting ice from the north and south poles. Some of the places are New York City, Miami, Houston, and many others.
4. Removal of Raised Power Lines
For Residents of 1177 Hornby St. "London Place" note the following reasons for removal:
1) Cost - Fee for BC hydro to cover or flag the power lines in order for window washers to clean windows. Fee has increased dramatically, and power lines do not serve the residents of 1177 Hornby.
2) Safety - People have climbed power poles to get to the top of the shared patio on the roof of 1177 Hornby. safety for both them and against theft. Also, safety for BC Hydro members who flag the power lines and safety for window washers of London Place.
For all buildings between the 1200 and 1100 blocks of Hornby and Burrard note the following reasons for removal:
1) Safety - Transformers have blown and have resulted in fires to the extent of fire department deployment.
2) The poles also narrow the alleyway resulting in garbage/Large trucks having a difficult time manoevering for daily activities.
