THE COALITION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, LABOR UNIONS, CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR THE RELEASE OF IMPRISONED NYPD OFFICER RICHARD DIGUGLIELMO
We are requesting your support for a clemency application of Richard DiGuglielmo, a veteran of the New York Police Department who was convicted of depraved indifference murder after a series of tragic events in which Officer DiGuglielmo shot and killed a man who had struck Officer DiGuglielmo's father with a metal baseball bat. Additional information about Officer DiGuglielmo and his case is available at http://www.richarddiguglielmo.org/
As you may know Officer DiGuglielmo was convicted of a murder stemming from a 1996 off-duty incident where he effectively saved his father's life. A New York State Supreme Court Justice subsequently released Officer DiGuglielmo in 2008 only for Officer DiGuglielmo's conviction to be re-instated after 20 months of freedom by a NYS Court of Appeals decision. A recent and probably final decision by the United States Court of Appeals has affirmed the NYS Court of Appeals decision. In the courts opinion they effectively stated that Officer DiGuglielmo's gun was a more serious threat than the baseball bat used to strike his Officer DiGuglielmo's father with TWICE! The court further opined, that Charles Campbell lacked intent to use the baseball bat as a deadly weapon because he never struck DiGuglielmo Sr. near the head or other vital area!
Article 35 of the NYS Penal Law effectively states: A person may use physical force upon another person when and to the extent he or she reasonably believes such to be necessary to defend himself, herself or a third person from what he or she reasonably believes to be the use or imminent use of unlawful physical force by such other person.
In People v. Talbert, the court held that an object as ordinary as a broom handle could be considered a weapon under the Penal Law if there exist the requisite intent to use the object unlawfully against another. The object in question was a broom handle…in Officer DiGUGLIELMO 'S CASE IT WAS A METAL BASEBALL BAT!
We have effectively come to a point of critical mass in relation to this case. The rulings by the NYS and Federal Appeals Courts in relation to this case have enormous ramifications nationwide for Police Officers, Peace Officers, and Citizens who may have to use deadly physical force. At this point there are no legal options left. We need your support in our effort to petition the NYS Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for clemency. We eagerly await your response.

Iran is imprisoning and abusing an American pastor because of his faith. Iran, home of one of the world’s most radical Islamic regimes, is holding American Pastor Saeed Abedini because he is a Christian, refusing to release him, and subjecting him to unspeakable abuse.
At the ACLJ, we are launching an international campaign to free Pastor Saeed, and we need Americans to mobilize for religious liberty.
Urge the President, the State Department, and every Member of Congress to take a stand for an American Christian.
In 1998 Canada implemented a new fire arms law in wich extensive background checks are conducted. Licences have been denied and revoked. To date, mass fatalities have dropped as firearms are less abundant. The U.S. has a slightly similar law called the Brady Handgun Control Act, however it seems that there is no real attempt to ensure firearms are not left in the wrong hands.
True there will always be home invasions and the possibility of one being taken however the fewer the gun population, the less potential for tragedy. It is not a human right to bare arms privately, it is a privilege. Had this privilege been taken seriously by the gun owner and the government perhaps the 27 people (20 of which were elementary age children) who were shot and killed would be spending this Saturday preparing for the holiday.

4. Allow more than one cooling unit w/o additional fees
The City of Alamogordo Public Housing Authority states in it's appliance policy that they will apply a $25.00 charge per month per additional cooling unit on your tenant account.
They only want us to have one cooling unit for our homes, which is not enough to cool off the entire housing unit. Many residents cannot afford to pay an extra $25.00 a month plus their rent. Many residents are on fixed incomes and have young children.
We believe this is also a health hazard because of the heat in Alamogordo. Most units are very hot without extra cooling units and this puts all the residents and children at risk of getting sick.
Also, the Public Housing Authority has used money to build a laundry facility, new porches, and new fences but they will not use money to provide a cooling unit to cool off our entire living unit.
We believe the residents should have say in what should be built or added to the units since we are the ones who live here.

What is a Puppy Mill?
A puppy mill is a large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Unlike responsible breeders, who place the utmost importance on producing the healthiest puppies possible, breeding at puppy mills is performed without consideration of genetic quality. This results in generations of dogs with unchecked hereditary defects.
Puppy mill puppies are typically sold to pet shops—usually through a broker, or middleman—and marketed as young as eight weeks of age. The lineage records of puppy mill dogs are often falsified.
How Are Animals Treated in Puppy Mills?
Puppy mills usually house dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, without adequate veterinary care, food, water and socialization. Puppy mill dogs do not get to experience treats, toys, exercise or basic grooming. To minimize waste clean-up, dogs are often kept in cages with wire flooring that injures their paws and legs—and it is not unusual for cages to be stacked up in columns. Breeder dogs at mills might spend their entire lives outdoors, exposed to the elements—or crammed inside filthy structures where they never get the chance to feel the sun or a gust of fresh air on their faces.

10. EUROPE HAS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MILLIONS OF STREET ANIMALS!
Right in the middle of Europe, millions of street animals are dying year in year out: in killing camps who call themselves animal shelters, or in “freedom” – of hunger, cold, diseases, poison.
Granted, you’ll find local laws forbidding the above – but often enough neither local authorities nor elements of the executive authorities do comply with the laws. Even the most barbarian cruelties to animals go without prosecution because it is not avenged, as a rule.
On December 1st, 2009 the treaty of Lisbon (so-called EU reformation treaty) became effective. The major agreement states that the Union and its member states have to take account of the well-being of the animals as feeling beings.
But the ratification of this treaty does not automatically imply the end of the brute widespread deaths.
This is why we need to suit the action to the word.

Do you think petitions are a powerful way of getting politicians and councillors to listen to the views of the general public?
Currently, local Redbridge residents can only create a paper petition on which they collect original penned signatures by going out to public events and asking people in person to sign if they agree.
An electronic petition (e-petition) is created on a secure website, like the Redbridge borough website ‘Redbridge i”, and ensures that each petition reaches a wider audience of potentially thousands of local residents via their home computers, public libraries and study centres etc. It could be available along with other services on our Local Authority website – ‘Redbridge i’.
Did you know that at least 75% of all 33 London boroughs have an e-petition facility on their local government website and that Redbridge is one of the few that has no e-petition facility on their website?
Having a properly functioning e-petition facility available for local residents on the local authority website; along with other common services, would open up a channel of communication and accountability between the council and the local residents on a level never before seen.

14. Free Hadi Abedi Bakhoda, a very ill political prisoner!
Hadi Abedi Bakhoda is a political prisoner of the 1980s on charges of supporting the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). He was tortured and shot by the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), when arrested.
His spinal cord was damaged in such a way that he now cannot walk and is in a wheelchair since the incident. The shooting also damaged other organs including his kidneys and his bladder that had failed totally. Since then, he suffers from debilitating physical complications as a result of his injuries. Abedi Bakhoda's wife and Mehri Javan Mahjub (a former prisoner) were arrested and sent to Lakan Prison. His brother, Hormoz, was executed by the Iranian regime on similar charges.
Branch One of the Revolutionary Court condemned Hadi Abedi-Bakhoda for two years imprisonment in 2009 (he then was transferred to the Lakan prison in Rasht in Nov 2009) even if he was not capable of imprisonment due because of his severe physical infirmities. The coroner's office, prison clinic and other health institutes confirmed this fact at the time and also demanded his release but the Intelligence Ministry and the Revolutionary Court have never paid attention to his conditions, therefore, he was transferred to prison.
Hadi Abedi-Bakhoda is sent to hospital only when his conditions become very critical, but ultimately because of his fragile health, they are forced to give him sick-leave.
According to Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Monday May 23, 2011, the Revolutionary Court of Rasht (Branch One) summoned Hadi Abedi-Bakhoda to notify him that the lash ruling against him would have been carried out despite his health conditions (his bladder was not functioning properly and he was suffering from a severe kidney disorder) and did not even consider the fact that he was in a wheelchair: he then received 51 lashes for the alleged crime of not reporting to the Lakan prison in Rasht on time when he was hospitalized during a sick-leave.
15. Replace the BC RCMP with Provicial Police Force
The BC Government is in negotiations with the RCMP to renew their contract in 2012.
With all the problems with RCMP officers being charged with criminal offenses and being suspended with pay for years while it works it's way through the courts and then through internal RCMP discipline committees the BC Government and the people have no say in in the mandate of the RCMP only Ottawa has jurisdiction, it's time to replace them with a provincial and municipal force.
16. Stop BC RCMP renewal contract without public consultation
The BC Government is in negotiations with the RCMP to renew their contract for policing in 2012.
With past performance of RCMP officers being charged with criminal offenses and rising they are reassigned to desk duty or to sit at home with full pay until all court cases have been dealt with, most cases take years and if convicted they then go through a RCMP internal review (1 year at least)before discipline If any!

In the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat cabinet Theresa May has been appointed as Minister for Women and Equality.
Prior to this appointment her voting record on gay rights has included:

She voted against gay adoption rights.
We would like to make it clear that this campaign is not politically motivated, and is in no way a campaign against any political party.

Michael Jackson was and still is one of the greatest entertainers, if not the greatest, of the world. He has moved barriers of race, gender, language, nationality ,social ranking, and religion to give the world a sense of escapism and to show them that united we achieve more. United we live in peace. United we can heal the world. He did this not only with his music but with his actions and his undying love for the world, its creatures and its people. This is why we, the fans of Michael Jackson, have begun this petition and signed it. To unite and do something for Michael. Mr. Jackson deserved nothing but respect and since it wasn't given to him in life, we must fight to give it to him in death. Our police image must be improved they must be a pillar of society; the police should be open and transparent.

Most Police officers do a very difficult job. The one,s with criminal convictions have no place in the Force. They make it difficult for the decent officers to gain the respect they need to assist them in there role as law enforcers.

26. The legal removal of the metal cage and proper burial of Brianna Mariah Lopez
Baby Brianna Lopez was 5 months old when she died as a result of prolonged abuse and sexual assault at the hands of her father, uncle and mother. Brianna Lopez's family were sentenced to prison for their crime. No one laid claim to this baby's body after she had died so the community of Las Cruces came forward to lay claim to Brianna and honour her at her funeral whilst the Dona Ana county donated the funds for her burial site.
Brianna's remaining family held a small and quick burial in a private cemetery, excluding other family members. No headstone was placed at her grave, only a marker was placed on the site then the burial mound raked flat. People of the community came to honour this baby by laying flowers. As the family wanted her death to be quiet they ordered a metal cage be placed over the burial site to discourage people from honouring her. The cage has surrounded baby Briannas resting place for eight years. Unfortunately the family has maintained this as it is a legal right.
This petition will go towards supporting the District Attorney of Dona Ana county, Amy Orlando in achieving what baby Brianna Lopez is entitled to, the removal of the cage and a proper burial with a headstone.

Half a heart doesn't have to mean half a life!
My son was born in 2007 with a condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (meaning born with only half a developed heart) a rare form of congenital heart defect and one of the most complex.
There is no known cause for this heart condition and unfortunately no known cure only palliative surgery to prolong the babies lives till their late teens the future is unknown but who knows in ten years scientists think they may be able to grow whole hearts in a lab from stem cell research? I live in hope......
The norwood procedure is a 3 stage open heart surgery in which the babies need very early in their lives in order to survive, some don't make it past the first surgery and those that make all three are very lucky indeed.
The first stage.
This operation involves connecting the origin of the pulmonary artery to the aorta to allow the right ventricle to pump blood to the main circulation,also it allows the pulmonary artery to make the aorta larger.
Second stage.
This involves the superior vena cava (the vain that brings blood back from the upper parts of the body)and is connected to the pulmonary artery.
Third stage.
This is to create a permanent passage (septectomy) between collecting chambers (left and right atrium) ensuring that a mix of red (oxygenated) blood and blue (deoxygenated) blood is flowing around the body.

Being at the same address for almost seven years and with the supply and demand in the extreme 100 plus temperatures. Utility companies should not be allowed to turn your electricity off due to them wanting another deposit.
Overall when you look at my history my bill does get paid every month and when it is late I pay a late charge. But for them to strip me of my electricity just because I do not make extra money to hand them over an extra 500 dollars.
I am human so I am not perfect but i do work my tail off to give them there money every month. Being a single father of a 4yr old and barely make over the poverty level they do not take that into any consideration. So now after ongoing hours of begging and pleaing for them to reconnect my power I had to again make an agreement at there mercy to come up with this deposit within 2 weeks.
