871. A Petition to Boycott British newspapers 
This petition has arisen as a consequence of the biased and one-sided reporting emanating from most sectors of the British press.
We the British public feel that you are not voicing either our concerns or our opinions with respect to the McCann case. We are fed up of the press presenting a slanted and incorrect depiction of the opinions of many, many members of the public. As a consequence we now intend to stop buying your newspapers until you decide to report the McCann matter in a more judicious way.
Not everyone believes that leaving children alone in a hotel room was the correct course of action.
872. Pierrefonds' Dogs Banned from Parks
Recently the borough of Pierrefonds decided to start enforcing a bylaw that prohibits dogs in the borough's parks. There was no public consultation on this decision.
An all out ban is not the answer. Pet owners pay license fees as well as taxes and should have rights too. The borough should not be treating it's resident dog walkers like criminals.
They should be focusing their energy on the drug dealers, the vandalism and litters that plague our green spaces. They chose to announce this decision when most people are on holidays. We will be stuck in the streets in the winter, where it is dangerous and slipery!
873. Help Create A New School System
Everyday most of our teenagers complain that what they are learning in high school is unnecessary. Most parents can't even help their children with their homework anymore, because it is so irrelevant that they do not even remember how to do it.
My point is, teenagers are not learning what they need for everyday life after they graduate. Instead all they are getting is book smarts, which they already learned in elementary and middle school, but in high school it is just at a more advanced level.
What needs to be changed is that the mandatory and elective classes should be flipped because most of the elective classes are those that teach you what you need in everyday life.
On the other hand the mandatory classes such as Math, Science, and History are not needed after learning the basics of it in elementary school and middle school, unless you want a career in which you use those subjects, which is why they should be changed to electives.
874. RE-ELECT BLOOMBERG FOR FOR MAYOR OF NEW YORK BY REMOVING HIS TERM LIMITS

This petition is several years old. I started it in 2007 when I was speaking to people about trying to generate support to get bloomberg to run for a 3rd term. I was discouraged time and again by people telling me I was crazy and that, if anything, bloomberg would be making a run at the presidency. Turns out, I was a bit too early. I am ecstatic that bloomberg has decided he is interested in being our mayor.
I am interested in helping the bloomberg campaign, possibly obtaining a job helping the upcoming campaign. I would be happy to contribute this site to the official bloomberg campaign group. Otherwise, if they are not interested in this web address. I am open to other possiblities in working with , or possibly selling the domain to someone who is interested in owning and/or developing the site.

BLOOMBERG IS AN EXCELLENT MAYOR. New York City term limits prohibit him from running for a third or fourth term. As a result, we will be losing our greatest mayor in decades. New Yorkers should unite in a public referendum ballot initiative to repeal MAYORAL (and not city council member) term limits only for the next 2 terms so that Bloomberg can run for mayor 2 more times.
He is a very popular mayor and if he runs, he will likely get re-elected. The repeal will be only for the next two terms and subsequently will expire and term limits will go back into effect.
This petition is looking for support to bolster a hatchling campaign to gather signatures and petition the NYC clerk to put this issue on the ballot.

875. Natural Gas Supply to ALL Gisborne residents
A large number of Gisborne residents will receive natural gas to their homes by February 2008.
However, there is another section of Gisborne which is located over the Calder Freeway, Emmeline Drive, Panorama Drive, and McGregor Road which is home to a large number of residents. These residents are not listed to receive the much needed natural gas to their homes.

878. Make UK Banks Deal with Bank Charges
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has granted waiver to banks so that they need not handle complaints from their customers about bank charges, such as those for exceeding overdraft limits.
The FSA also expects and desires the Financial Ombudsman Service and the county courts to stop handling such claims.
The reason for this is because the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is issuing (or has issued) a super-claim against the majority of high-street banks in the High Court.
Even so, the FSA’s waiver causes serious problems:
The FSA's waiver removes all claimants' rights and routes to justice to the effect that everyone must now wait for the conclusion of the OFT's case.
Worse, many thousands of claimants have serious debts caused largely, and often solely, by these charges. Removing all of their options under the law and forcing them to wait for years will cause a great deal of unnecessary anxiety and distress.
It is likely that many of these people will go on to incur further debts as a result of this delay, causing even more stress and anxiety.
Furthermore, the FSA has ruled that claimants who have already received offers from their banks must now accept the offers in full and final settlement, or they must wait for the outcome of the High Court case.
For claimants, who have received offers significantly short of the full amount claimed, especially those with debt problems, this is a terrible and unfair position to be put in. They now must make the difficult choice of accepting far less than they claimed, or an anxious and unnecessarily long wait for a resolution.
Finally, the FSA states that the banks will not use the Statute of Limitations to avoid paying claims that were delayed as a result of the FSA's waiver, or as a result of these claims being stayed in the county courts.
However, the FSA has no power to disregard the six-year rule in the Statute, nor can it force banks to repay claimants. Therefore, if a claimant is forced to take its bank to court after the OFT's claim is finished, the judge will still be obliged to take the Statute into account.
As the OFT's claim could take as long as five years, this would wipe out virtually all the money that is being claimed today, and it is estimated that there are billions of pounds to be claimed.
The FSA has unwittingly played into the banks' hands, and so will the county courts if they refuse to handle these claims.
We understand that one claim to settle it all will provide consistency for future claims, which we acknowledge is desirable. However, in the shorter term claimants should still be allowed to take complaints to the Ombudsman, or to claim in the county courts.

The FBI is using this to keep tabs on critical conversations by people the FBI calls "known members" of the mafia.
Experts say the only way around it is to take your battery out.
880. Canada needs a Prenatal Diagnosed Condition Awareness Act
In Canada each year around 400,000 women will become pregnant and all these women will be offered some sort of screening or testing for an anomaly. As a result thens of thousands of women will be told their unborn baby may have a certain diagnosed condition.
Technological advances in fetal screening are presenting parents -and doctors- with enormous ethical, psychological and social dilemmas. Vulnerable, and with limited or biased information as guidance, more than 90% of prospective parents in Canada choose termination if their baby is diagnosed prenatal with Down syndrome. They may never know there is a world of resources, hope and support out there. In spite of tireless efforts from support groups their information pamphlets rarely reach prospective parents at the time they need it most.
The United States recently re-introduced the Prenatal Diagnosed Condition Awareness Act, which ensures prospective parents are supplied with balanced information about the diagnosed condition and educational programs for health care providers are established. The U.K. is making great strides in establishing public awareness campaigns about diagnosed conditions. In Canada an expansion of screening programs is not accompanied by an appropriate expansion of awareness and educational programs.
The Nova Scotia Down Syndrome Society believes that non-directive and balanced information about all options should be at the heart of prenatal screening.
The Nova Scotia Down Syndrome Society joined by the Candian Down Syndrome Society (www.cdss.ca), believe there is an urgent need for an Prenatal Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act and that the provinces and territories participate or enact equivalent legislation within their jurisdictions. This Act would ensure provinces and territories responsible for health care set aside appropriate resources for the establishment of educational and awareness campaigns that will enhance knowledge about diagnosed conditions and allow organizations to create and distribute balanced and accurate information to women and prospective parents.
By creating a law that manages the above, Canada will ensure that all differences are valued equally.

Despite his popularity, Michael Jackson does not currently have an official online news source for the media and the public.
The only existing website, michaeljackson.com, is operated by Sony and is not updated with current news on Michael Jackson. Although a forthcoming site was announced several months ago, many journalists are taking advantage of the delay in its launch by circulating false news releases or false statements and pretending they come from Michael Jackson's official spokesperson.
Thus, it is impossible, for the majority of people, to acquire news from a serious and reliable source.
Therefore, a prompt launch of a temporary web space would provide the public with precise and regular news and allow everyone to check the authenticity of statements which circulate in the media.
882. Marauders Series
Millions of people all over the world read the Harry Potter Books. Now that the series has come to an end, Harry Potter fans, such as myself, need something new to look forward to.
This is why I am petitioning J.K. Rowling to write a series (or at least one book) about the Marauders (as in the marauders map from the Harry Potter Series) For those of you who don't know who the marauders are, they are James Potter (Harry's Father) and his three best friends.
I believe that many Harry Potter fans would love the chance to learn more about James Potter (Prongs), Sirius Black (Padfoot), Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail), and Remus Lupin (Moony).
883. Snohomish County Coalition for Higher Education
The 2007 Legislative session marked the creation of the state's first new four year university in nearly 40 years.
The Legislature stipulated that a new University of Washington branch campus will be located in the Snohomish-Island-Skagit County region, with site determination beginning immediately.
Site determination is conducted by NBBJ of Seattle, an unbiased independent agency working with state and university officials.
Sites are evaluated on a variety of criteria, including community support, compliance with GMA, evaluation of a master business plan and available land/infrastructure.
Initially, over 80 sites were submitted for consideration, including one site submitted by the Snohomish County Coalition for Higher Education (SCCHE).
The SCCHE site proposal was jointly submitted by the mayors of Lake Stevens and Snohomish with the support of Monroe and Granite Falls. The SCCHE site consists of over 100 contiguous undeveloped acres located inside the City of Lake Stevens' Urban Growth Area along 20th Street SE. The site offers flat, clean land unimpeded by major geographical or environmental features. The site is located between the Cities of Lake Stevens and Snohomish and is about two miles from downtown Everett.

As the latter states, Dunkleman has experience in hosting major television shows in primetime ('American Idol'), should "The Price Is Right" ever alter time slots. Dunkleman also has experience hosting game shows ('Family Feud Live'), and is well-qualified to host a televised game show. Lastly, he has appeared on other popular television shows (i.e. 'Friends', 'The Tonight Show', 'The Proud Family'), that could extend the viewing demographics, and increase, ultimately, the Nielsen ratings of the show. In my humble opinion, Brian Dunkleman is the right host for "The Price Is Right".

887. Petition To Have Prom Somewhere Other than the KMall
Congratulations class of 2008- we are now seniors! This is our year to outshine the previous classes. We have so many events to look forward to - and one of the biggest ones is senior prom.
However, prom is as of yet going to be just like every other year - in the cafeteria! When questioned as to why we cannot have another location- I was given the following reasons: 1) free location 2) OWC is a good meeting place for Destin/FWB/Crestview/etc. 3) it is where every other prom has been held.
But these reasons still leave unanswered questions. What if we could find someplace with a good price? What if the location was still a good meeting place? And why be like every other class?
This petition is for classmates that support the idea of having Senior Prom 2008 somewhere other than the KMall if it is possible.

891. Fix up Midland's baseball field
Midland Field is played on every day whether it's the midland school lion's or the kid's in each grade at lunch. It needs to be in good shape in order for the players to play with the full enthusiasm sports should be played at.
Also it is played on, on weekends in football and baseball. They should fix the grass and the baseball field. It is a public field. I'm sure their are plenty of people who have wanted a new field but just didn't think of a petition.
The old field is used during soccer season and the soccer players have been mad for a long time. They have complained because this is the only full-sized soccer field in Rochelle Park as well as the only 60-90 ft baseball field. It is the centerpiece of Rochelle Park.
892. In Support of Better Managed Growth in Pend Oreille County
In the face of incredible development pressure in 2006, the county responded by beginning to draft new development regulations.
However a history of economic struggle finds the county reluctant to include language that would prohibit indiscriminate development.
Citizens have asked for sustainable growth over under-managed - resource irreverant development. Citizens believe while we should address the economic demands of operating government, it should not be at the expense of the environment, or result in the loss of resource lands.

893. Support human rights of Hare Krishna commune in KAZAKHSTAN

For years there has been a battle between the local government in Kazakhstan and an innocent ISKCON community. Based on the excuse that the devotees do not have sufficient legal permission and their religion is not 'traditional to Kazakhstan', the government have been endeavouring to destroy the ISKCON temple and devotees homes by force so they can develop the land for another use. This is a serious breach of human rights!
Workers and police arrived on 15th June at the village near Almaty, Kazakhstan, where the embattled Hare Krishna commune is based to demolish twelve more Hare Krishna-owned homes. "The houses were literally crushed into dust. By ten o'clock it was all over," said ISKCON spokesperson Maksim Varfolomeyev.
The temple, which the devotees have been ordered to destroy by today, has not been touched but the devotees fear it could be the next target. Human rights activist Yevgeny Zhovtis is outraged at the continuing destruction. "The authorities are showing that they will do what they want, despite the international outrage at the earlier demolitions of Hare Krishna-owned homes." He believes the local administration chief "doesn't care about the political damage to Kazakhstan's reputation – or to its desire to chair the OSCE."
894. We wanna go to Glastonbury goddamnit!
I have been trying to go to Glastonbury festival since I was about 14 but i've had no luck and I wanna go goddamnit! The main reason for this is because of the superfast sellout of tickets caused by ticket touts.
I refuse to throw my money down their throats. I think the introduction of Glasto registration has been a brilliant way to stop touting. Its about time!! Anyway, lets get to the point. I of course got my glasto registration in, but still didn't manage to get tickets, along with thousands of other festival wannagoers. I think that people like me should get priority for the next Glastonbury festival!
I think that our registrations should be kept on file and that we should get our own priority ticketline or something for next year. I think thats fair :)

For the Moorpark High School 2006 – 2007 school year, the parking lots on
campus were for Seniors only. The Juniors were forced to park in “overflow”,
which is much further away - past the football stadium.
For the 2007 – 2008 school year, the rules are changing. There is no longer
designated Senior parking.
The class of 2008 is not getting the same privileges as the class of 2007, and
the class of 2009 has advantages the class of 2008 never had.

A new logo has been unveiled for the London 2012 Olympics. I and many others feel it is an embarrassment and portrays our country in the worst possible way.
As a matter of damage limitation, pressure should be maintained in order to bring about the replacement of the logo as soon as possible. This would show the rest of the world that the people of Britain will not put up with such rubbish and that they are listened to.
