Citizens of The Republic of Macedonia (constitutional name of our country!) are no longer willing to be exposed on further political pressure connected to the UN established "name issue" negotiation process between Republic of Greece and Republic of Macedonia.
So far, it is well known that there is a region with the same name in Greece, and that Macedonia with a reference REPUBLIC is a separate state.
During the years of so far "endless negotiations" our national identity was denied, our language (which is Macedonian!) was called Slavo-macedonian (even in the EP or EU documents!).
Now we are faced with other "creative politician's suggestions" on WHAT ELSE TO ADD to the official name of our country in order not to be offensive to Greece.
So, WE simply WANT to send a very SIMPLE message to all politicians involved in negotiations of both countries, UN special envoy Mr. Mathiew Niemetz, EU, EP, CoE, OSCE and to all other Inernational Community representatives that REPUBLIC IS ENOUGH!
Residents of Goshen, Va. and the surrounding area are wishing to voice their support to the National Boy Scout Jamboree in relocating it to Goshen.
33. Telstra and Network Ten to Sponsor NBL
THE National Basketball League faces a television black-out by pay television partner Fox Sports after losing both the Sydney Kings and Brisbane Bullets to financial problems.
Similarly Hummer, a division of General Motors, is reviewing its position as the league's naming-rights sponsor with the NBL now reduced to just 11 teams, and with West Sydney's shift to Penrith, has no major presence in the harbour city.
A spokesman for Premier Media Group chief executive David Malone said the network was awaiting a new season schedule of matches before any final decision was made on broadcasting matches next season.
Harmison is looking to the Henderson Report, a commercial review due to be presented to the NBL to provide some guidance on how to avoid more teams falling over.
"What I expect to come out of the investigation is to have criteria set in place that will allow the teams to be a fighting chance of breaking even or turning a profit," he said.
"Whether you call it a franchising agreement or a licensing agreement, we need to develop a set of criteria that is going to stop the boom-and-bust cycle we've had over the last 30 years.
"Our sport has seen a number of teams come and go, be successful for a couple of years and then fall over.
"Whether it's due to mismanagement, or under-management or a lack of resources, we need to get to a stage where we don't have that any more.
Harmison is working on a revised draw which is to be released at the end of this month.
"But it's a fact of life and we've got to live with it. The teams that are remaining in the league are strong. They're going to play some great basketball."
Harmison said the NBL had held high hopes for both the proposed ownership groups for the Kings, but ultimately when it came to crunch time, both failed to produce the necessary backing to proceed.
"The league did make a last-ditch attempt when it became apparent that both bids were faltering to bring the two groups together, but those efforts have been in vain."
"It's a sad day for Sydney basketball fans that's for sure, but at the end of the day the two bids didn't stack up financially."
"What we needed from the group that remained at the end of the day was a financial or bank guarantee and that wasn't forthcoming."
The Kings had their licence revoked last month after failing to meet overdue player payments while Brisbane owner Eddy Groves handed in the Bullets' licence after running into financial difficulty and failing to find another backer.
34. Support a WA franchise in the NRL
With the NRL Executive Committee looking to make an official decision on expansion plans as early as next year (2010), there needs to be a strong and significant campaign continuing to promote Western Australia as a viable and necessary option.
The NRL claims to be a national competition, yet has a high saturation of its teams residing in New South Wales and Queensland (... and one team in isolation within Victoria, ACT, and NZ). This competition, at present, is not a national competition, but rather an Eastern States corporation.
For a long time, Western Australia has been a strong support for many sporting competitions. The Western Force have the largest membership base within the Super 14 (rugby union) competition. The Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles have two of the largest membership bases in the AFL. All three clubs are amongst the richest (financially) in their respective competitions. This is a significant point the NRL needs to recognise.
Additionally, Western Australia has the support base for rugby league, it has the infrastructure (grounds), it has a solid community development focus (amongst its local competition), and has historically held a franchise in the past; and is more than capable of operating one again.
Presently, the National Rugby League has suggested an expansion into the "central coast" region. Another eastern states franchise, in an already saturated market. This will only further cannibalise fans and supporters from existing clubs over in the Eastern States, and is a nonsensical approach to solving the competitions market coverage and financial short-falls.
It's time the rest of the country becomes involved in the game. It's time other states and territories are considered. It's time for the NRL to become a truly national competition as it's namesake suggests. It's time for the NRL to compete with it's main competition (the AFL) on the national stage.
Many children are bullied at our schools and nothing constructive is being done to protect them! The bullies now 'rule' our education establishments and even the teaching staff are not allowed to impose control. This situation can even result in young people taking their own lives in desperation!
Society owes the young an education free from threats and violence by their peers!
36. Improve Canada's Sex Offender Registry & Actually Put it to Use
-->Its access is very regulated and information obtained may only be used during investigation of crimes where there are reasonable grounds to suspect that they are of a sexual nature.
-->THIS means the registry cannot be used if they have not committed the crime. Exmp.) A man tries to persuade a young girl to his car. **Using the girl's description of the man and location of the incident, police cannot access the registry to match potential previous offenders that exist in that area, or match the physical description.**
-->THIS means the crime has to be committed FIRST, which does nothing to PREVENT sexual assaults
-->Canada has dangerous offender legislation, which allows for indefinite jail terms
-->Finally, there is no harmonized standards in which all provinces abide by, it is basically every province giving privilege, and reinforcing the system based on how they deem necessary.
37. Asian American Heritage Center (National) Petition
Asian Americans make up 5% of the total population and contribute 770B dollars to the nation's economy each year. As the Asian American population grows we feel it it important to have a centralized place where they may obtain orientation, information, services and guidance. It is especially important in the case of new immigrants and senior citizens.
The Asian American Heritage Center (AAHC)will bring cultural enrichment connecting Asian Americans to one another and their community. The AAHC will also build bridges between Asian Americans throughout the United States and into our community.
The AAHC will be a multipurpose facility that serves Asians and other multicultural interests. As a result, it will stimulate the economic growth for the Greater DC area.
38. Make Boston Tea Party A National Holiday
On December 16th, 1773, The Sons of Liberty dumped crates of tea into the Boston Harbor, as a direct protest by the colonists of America, against the government of Britain.
This is one of the most iconic events in American history, and was one of the catalysts to The Revolutionary War.
39. Bob Dylan Congressional Gold Medal
A Congressional Gold Medal is an award bestowed by the United States Congress and is, along with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. The decoration is awarded to an individual who performs an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States. American citizenship is not a requirement.
The Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom are generally considered to carry the same level of prestige (though significantly fewer Gold Medals have been awarded). The chief difference between the two is that the Freedom Medal is personally awarded by the President of the United States (executive branch), and Congressional Gold Medals are awarded by acts of the Congress (legislative branch). Per committee rules, legislation bestowing a Congressional Gold Medal upon a recipient must be co-sponsored by two-thirds of the membership of both the House of Representatives and the Senate before their respective committees will consider it.
Since the American Revolution, Congress has commissioned gold medals as its highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions. Each medal honors a particular individual, institution, or event. Although the first recipients included citizens who participated in the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War, Congress broadened the scope of the medal to include actors, authors, entertainers, musicians, pioneers in aeronautics and space, explorers, lifesavers, notables in science and medicine, athletes, humanitarians, public servants, and foreign recipients.
Bob Dylan has been among the pre eminent artists of the 20th and 21st centuries in the United States. His impact on popular culture particularly in song form, performance and the creation of highly personal songwriting which is simultaneously deeply linked to American folk music and popular arts is unique and worthy of this singular award.
40. Alleviate Pollution and Poverty in Delhi
There is a government body called Delhi Pollution control committee existing in Delhi called DPCC basically established for controlling pollution in this national capital region (DELHI). I being an environment friendly citizen applied for a unit in prime industrial area of New Delhi only after installing and successfully running the required systems for controlling pollution and treatment of Water.
Inspite of giving all possible proofs to the department they made our consent application a big issue and keep on demanding huge amount of money from us which due to no other option we keet on giving them the amount whenever demanded from them. Since I had refused them bribe when they had their first visit after the application, they were exploiting us all the time. In the mean time they were providing consents to the people which were not having systems for controlling pollution installed at their polluting units at a nominal bribe of 12000 This procedure of providing consent to operate polluting manufacturing units after getting bribe and not installing pollution control measures is till today's date ie.27-06-2008 is kept on followed. I complained this matter to CVC (Central Vigilance Commission ) and CBI but of no use.
The member secretary Mrs. Naini Jayaseelan whose office is in secretariat building was continuously abusing me with words I have never heard. She even was torturing me of what kind of science graduation I have attained in front of excise commissioner and then deputy commissioner of DPCC Mrs. Debashree Mukherjee. She was agreeing sometimes and abusing me and my family other time.
41. Call for election in Trinidad and Tobago NOW!
On 31st August, 1962, Dr. Eric Eustase Williams brought Indepence for our country from the British Empire and formed the People's National Movement to bring democracy in politics in the country and everything became wonderful for the people.
Today, he might as well be still spinning in his grave, because, after 46 years, our country is in turmoil. crime has escalated, the economy is going down the drain and our conditions have not improved.
Our country cannot wait much longer for things to improve. The people of Trinidad and Tobago should take this vote of no confidence as a cue to call for another fresh elections so they will vote for a better political party that will deliver us for the pain and suffering already inflicted on us.
The many state amendments forbidding same sex marriage will be overturned by the U S Supreme Court.
If one form of fornication is allowed, then those who practice all other forms of fornication will be demanding the same treatment. That would include adultery, incest, pedophilia, bestiality and polygamy, among others.
If one form of fornication is allowed and mainstreamed, then our public schools will begin to teach these behaviors as normal, and accepted by society, to our children, from kindergarten all the way through college.
To promote good sexual morals in the public square means to take a stand against all forms of fornication.
Fornication is any type of sexual intercourse outside of the marriage of one man to one woman.
In the book of Acts, Chapter 15 verses 19 and 20, we are told that all gentiles everywhere are commanded not to commit fornication. Yes, we are no longer under the Old Testament law of the Jews, but this commandment we received from the Holy Spirit and the Apostles after the death and resurrection of Christ, when we were already living in the age of grace, the Church age.
We are clearly told not to commit fornication.
Marriage is clearly defined in the Bible as a union of one man to one woman with God’s blessings on that union.
Fornication is defined as, “Sexual intercourse between partners who are not married to each other.” (The same definition in many dictionaries in the 1960s used the words “unmarried man and woman,” not partners.
God decides what is considered fornication, not man.
I have written a book entitled, "National Morality thinking outside the box a call to action volume 1." See chapters 21 and 22 for an interesting view on the power of subjective words in the English language).
(Go to: nationalmorality.net)
There are no Scriptural exceptions to this command in the Bible. We have not been given a blank check to do whatever we wish after we are saved.
The following proposed amendment will allow, in each state, the local political leadership by legislation and the local populations by referendum, to determine for themselves whatever public square sexual morals they expect. No authority anywhere will be able to overturn the will of the people in this matter.
Whether or not porn is a freedom of speech right would be decided on a state by state basis, as the amendment would allow each state's representatives to revisit the question and to make laws that the people want and to the degree of strictness that the people want.
It is time to prepare for the worse. The federal authorities will disappoint us again and overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Stand with me and give your local communities some clout. The states could then decide to make as many common moral laws as they can agree on, thus making as large an area in the US as possible, with the exact same moral conditions.

43. We seek support from rest of India
J & K Governor Gen, Sinha surveyed condition of pilgrims of Amarnath yatra & found that people have to relax in open tents and therefore he signed a project for constucting permanent shelters for pilgrims and alotted 100 acres (800 cannals) of land to shrine board after passing it in J & K assembly.
The Forest Minister in the Cabinet was from the PDP, a coalition partner in the government. Yet they (the PDP) refused to accept responsibility for the joint decision (of allocating forest land to set up temporary structures for facilities for Hindu pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra) Then PDP and some Pro-pakistan parties started agitating against decision with anti nationalist slogans and ransacking public property.
The Congress sans PDP minority Govt took decision back and surrendered in front of these anti nationalist and fundamentalist forces. People of Jammu started agitating against this anti national, anti harmony decision with all groups together. Later jammu muslim comunity supported agitation through a press conference. When Omar Abdullah gave statement in parliament that his people will not give an inch of land to pilgrims or shrine board ; emotions n sentiments of jammu people ran high and one of the protesters KULDIP DOGRA commited sucide in front of 500 people.
At 3:00 am next day police took his body after beating his family, AND STARTED cremating HIS BODY BEFORE SUNRISE AT 4:00 AM WHICH IS AGAINST HINDUISUM. one of the family member used local temple loudspeaker and informed people, Anger rose high and people started beating police .Police hit back and violent agitation turned into massive rallies with more than 40,000 people. Police killed 2 protesters days after. Latest opression is that Local Cable TV as well as SMSes have been banned in Jammu.
Most sadly these people are not getting required support from national media against such dictatorship and their lonely battle is still ON.
44. Help protect premature babies and high at risk infants from RSV
RSV is the most common cause of lower-respiratory-tract infection in infancy or childhood. RSV causes cold-like symptoms that can trigger chronic breathing difficulties if the lungs become involved. RSV occurs in seasonal outbreaks, usually through autumn to winter. In Australia the risk of catching an RSV infection is at its highest from May to October.
Prevalence and Risk
RSV is highly contagious. Approximately one-half of all infants are infected with the RSV during the first year of life and nearly all children have been infected at least once by the time they reach their second birthday.
Up to 90 per cent of bronchiolitis hospitalisations and up to 50 per cent of hospital admissions caused by winter pneumonia are caused by RSV.
Diseases of the respiratory system account for the highest proportion of all admissions to hospital in children aged 1-14 years, according to the latest data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
Babies born prematurely as well as those with chronic lung disease or congenital heart disease are at the highest risk of severe disease and hospitalization due to RSV. While adults and healthy children can normally cope with the mild cold-like symptoms of an infection, at risk infants are at a high risk of being admitted into hospital. In babies who are born prematurely or who have lung or heart complications, RSV may cause life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care.
Why are premmie babies most at risk for RSV infection?
Pre-term infants are at the highest risk for serious RSV infection and related hospitalisation. Premature infants have underdeveloped lungs, which can be a contributing factor to increased risk for RSV disease and cardiopulmonary complications.
Infants with a congenital heart disease (structural or functional defect in the heart that is present at birth) or a chronic lung disease are also at increased risk of developing severe RSV disease, hospitalisation and death.
Other risk factors for severe RSV disease include low birth weight (less than 2500 grams or 5.5 pounds) and a compromised immune system.
Other contributing factors are exposure to tobacco smoke, having school-age siblings, attending daycare and living in crowded conditions
Effects on Families
Parents of infants born preterm experience an enormous amount of emotional trauma, stress and grief dealing with the complications surrounding the early arrival of their child and the lengthy hospital stay that follows. The average duration of hospitalisation for these premature infants is seven weeks. In addition they have to live with ongoing health concerns and problems with their children. The readmission of the at risk infant due to RSV presents considerable further burdens, both emotionally and financially, to these families; and to the public health system. These infants are at risk of intensive care admission, long term lung damage and in rare cases death. For families in regional areas the cost of readmission is considerably higher. Thus they live in fear of their child being readmitted to hospital and isolate their child from the rest of the community to prevent this occurring. For those with other children another hospital stay will mean more disruption for the whole family with siblings often failing to understand why mum is away so much of the time.
Susan, mum to Connor born at 26 weeks and now 2 years old explains “I am at the doctors with Connor whenever he has the slightest cough to ensure that he is okay and live in constant fear of him being sick. I have become germ phobic and very aware of sick people in shopping centres etc. – I have never placed Connor in a shopping trolley and I keep antibacterial handwash in my purse at all times. I tend to keep Connor more isolated during the winter / flu season which is detrimental to him both developmentally and socially. I know the majority of people think I am overly protective but any mum in a similar position would do the same to protect their child. The greatest issue to our family has been the isolation factor and watching Connor having to miss out on many fun events and parties. This just breaks my heart .”
RSV in Australia?
There is currently no vaccination available for RSV. One medicine has been registered in Australia to prevent serious lower respiratory tract disease caused in children at high risk of severe RSV infection. This medication is called Palivizumab. However, the medication is currently not funded by the Federal Government making it very costly to the Public Health System or parents wanting their children to receive it. The costs range up to $1000 per injection (depending on the size of the baby or child) and the injections should be given over at least a 6 month period. Thus the cost per year for the first two years of a high risk child’s life are in the region of $16,000. Such a high cost makes the medication unreachable for most parents of preterm or seriously ill children with chronic lung disease or heart conditions.

45. Proposal: New Civil Flag To Represent The American People
Considering the fact that the U.S. government is executing heinous inhumane operations around the globe in 'the peoples' name without our consent, or, vote, prudence requires us to evaluate, whether or not, to maintain the United State's blood-drenched corporate symbols in the present flag?

47. "I Am Australian" to Replace "Advance Australia Fair" as Anthem
The official version of Australia's current national anthem, "Advance Australia Fair", is:
-Disjointed from a musical perspective.
-Embarrassing from an international political perspective.
-Absurd from an Indigenous Australian perspective.
-Dull and uninviting from an emotional perspective.
-Awkward from a lyrical perspective.
-Dated and missing verses from an historical perspective.
-Divisive from a cultural perspective.
-Girt by a sea of mediocrity from the ALP's minister and member for Rankin Craig Emerson's perspective.
-Boring from retired National's senator Sandy Macdonald's perspective.
-Worth considering a replacement for from the Liberal's member for Fisher Peter Slipper's perspective.
Adding to all this, most Australians know neither the words nor what they mean!
Numerous other patriotic songs would be worthy of replacing "Advance Australia Fair". However many of these songs lack the rhythmic emotion of a high-quality national anthem. Others contain awkward lyrics or words not known by most Australians. The song "I Still Call Australia Home" is well known (having been promoted around the world by a certain business) but it speaks about too many other countries to be Australia's national anthem. Australia's national anthem should be about Australia- not other countries!
Hence, "I Am Australian" (lyrics at end) by Bruce Woodley should be the national anthem of Australia. The following reasons amongst many others support this proposal:
1) It unites Australians.
2) It is well known to Australians.
3) Its meaning is clear and its words understandable.
4) It celebrates Australians from all walks of life.
5) It respects Indigenous Australians and other cultures.
6) The words are easy to learn.
7) It celebrates iconic Australians.
8) It is passionately patriotic yet inclusive of naturalised Australians.
9) It welcomes new Australians (already being in use at citizenship ceremonies).
10) It is already sung by many on national holidays such as Australia Day.
11) It is already sung at major sporting events as a sign of what it is to be Australian.
12) It recognises the contributions of both men and women in forging the identity of the nation.
The lyrics are as follows:
VERSE 1:
I came from the dream time
From the dusty red soil plains
I am the ancient heart
The keeper of the flame
I stood upon the rocky shore
I watched the tall ships come
For forty thousand years I'd been
The first Australian
CHORUS:
We are one but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice
I am - You are - We are Australian
VERSE 2
I came upon the prison ship
Bowed down by iron chains
I cleared the land, endured the lash
And waited for the rains
I'm a settler; I'm a farmer's wife
On a dry and barren run
A convict then free man
I became Australian
VERSE 3
I'm the daughter of a digger
Who sought the mother lode
The girl became a woman
On a long and dusty road
I'm a child of the depression
I saw the good times come
I'm a bushy
I'm a battler
I am Australian
{Repeat CHORUS}
VERSE 4
I'm a teller of stories
I'm a singer of songs
I am Albert Namatjira
And I paint the ghostly gums
I'm Clancy on his horse
I'm Ned Kelly on the run
I'm the one who waltzed Matilda
I am Australian
VERSE 5
I'm the hot wind from the desert
I'm the black soil of the plains
I'm the mountains and the valleys
I'm the drought and flooding rains
I am the Rock, I am the Sky
The Rivers when they run
The Spirit of This Great Land
I am Australian
{Notes on the lyrics:
1) Alternatively, the chorus may be sung between each verse.
2) The last verse has been slightly adjusted by capitalising certain words. As the "Rock" refers to Uluru and "This Great Land" refers to Australia it is appropriate to capitalise these words. In the cases of the other words, this may be interpreted as either a poetic personification or a connection to certain characters of the dreaming of Indigenous Australians.
3) The term "dream time" has been retained due to the respect for ancient ways shown in the first verse. Should Indigenous Elders regard it as offensive, it may be altered to "dreaming".}
48. New Australian National Anthem
Let's face it, who knows the Australian National Anthem. Not the first verse, because that’s a no brainer but the rest of it?
To be honest, I don’t and when it goes past that first verse (as it rarely does) I stand there shrugging my shoulders. Then it occurred to me, let's change it.
Change it to something people know and are proud to sing and then across the radio came Land Down Under by Men At Work. It doesn’t get much more Australian than that! Not only is it a fantastic song but any true blue Aussie knows the words! Here are the lyrics for you to consider.
Land Down Under - Men At Work
Travelling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,
"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."
Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,
"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."
Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said,
"Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."
Please support me in this and we can change our National Anthem to something that truly represents Australia!
49. Bowls: Bring an end to sets play in the national under 25s singles competition
The national under 25s singles championship matches are in a sets format. Many under 25s would prefer it to be a typical first to 21 singles game in bowls because they feel that too much "luck" is involved and that the winner of a match may not deserve to have won.
This is also in the matter of interest of the EIBA as firstly the winner of this event represents England internationally and secondally many under 25s are disatisfied by the current format, causing less entries.
50. Save Georgia's Freedom Now
Whereas the country of Georgia has in the first week of November, 2007 begun to physically crack down on political dissent and has called for a 15 day National Emergency to restore order.
51. Support Musharraf: Emergency was required
People are encouraged to read through and sign as this is NOT a petition in favor of outright military rule, but one that supports the measures taken by Musharraf to eradicate corruption and place Pakistan on the right path to democracy. As Pakistanis, we must appreciate a man who has confronted corruption and created a system under which the voice of the people can be heard.
Pervez Musharraf has been the centre of a lot of criticism lately, and this petition is an attempt to show support for his vision and rule in Pakistan. We understand some actions by the current government in Pakistan are drastic and some may argue against them, but it is up to us to realize the ground realities and act responsibly in deciding who to support. Opposition parties are exploiting the mass public by using democracy as an excuse to regain power and destabilize a government that has achieved a lot in the last eight years. Religion is also being used by some in the media to incite the public, which has gone about its daily routine with no interest to come out on the streets. Objectivity amongst reporters on international broadcasts of Pakistani news is rare. This is an attempt to show that there is a large movement that supports the President. Outlined below are highlights of Musharraf’s achievements, there is a section on reasons for imposition of emergency rule as well.
POSITION ON OPPOSITION PARTIES
Nawaz Sharif’s incompetent government and Benazir’s corruption (wife of Mr. Zardari who is popularly known in Pakistan as 'Mr. 10%') left Pakistan in a dismal state. Thus prior to Musharraf’s debut on the stage of Pakistani politics in 1999,
* The country was almost bankrupt;
* Pakistan was on the verge of being declared a “failed” and “terrorist” nation;
* It was listed as being the second most corrupt nation in the world (the first being Nigeria)
* During the time of Benazir and Sharif, the KSE 100 index was less than 1300. Now it is over 12000.
* Atrocities such as judicial killings of opponents took place shamelessly throughout Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, for which Benazir and Sharif were both primarily responsible.
MUSHARAF’S ACHIEVEMENTS
Under Musharraf’s regime since 1999, Pakistan has experienced tremendous growth and seen record improvement in its overall condition.
* From being #2 on the list of corrupt nations, Pakistan is now #138 – a remarkable improvement.
* Compared to being nearly bankrupt less than a decade ago, Pakistan now has reserves of close to $16 billion, and is still growing.
* Corruption has been virtually eliminated from the upper levels and significantly reduced in the lower levels.
* Musharraf actively confronted terrorism in Pakistan and employed several schemes to eradicate it from our country.
* Large-scale development is taking place all over Pakistan, with a significant amount of construction going on in Karachi and areas of Baluchistan. Previously, these areas were largely neglected, with Baluchistan left to the mercy of warlords for much of the history of Pakistan.
* Tax recovery is at an all time high.
* Pakistan’s media has flourished with Musharraf’s permittance and encouragement.
* Devolution of power- Musharraf brought the Nazim System and gave powers to the local representatives at the lowest level.
* Women's representation used to be 3.2%. Musharraf made a landmark decision and appointed 33% seats to be reserved for women in all three tiers of the local government and 17% in the national and provincial legislatures. (This also resulted in Pakistan being recognized as the country with the greatest progress in women’s representation within parliament in a comparison study of South Asian politics.)
* President Musharraf was awarded the White Ribbon Man of the Year Award 2006, in recognition of the tremendous support to the cause of women’s rights in Pakistan.
* Pakistan’s relations with India have also significantly improved. Previously, India refused to acknowledge the territory of Kashmir as a 'dispute'. As a result of Musharraf's diplomacy, Kashmir is today acknowledged as a disputed territory and both sides are working towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
These are remarkable achievements in an 8 year timeframe. This is not to say that things are perfect; much work still needs to be done. But, Pakistan, under Musharraf, has been heading towards the right direction and this momentum should continue. He has addressed the root cause of problems in the country thus building a foundation for democracy to prosper. The measures taken under this regime are an attempt to reform Pakistani society with a high emphasis on education. One cannot educate a nation overnight; it takes time and honest commitment. We cannot let corrupt politicians ruin 8 years of hard work.
52. A Pledge for Additional Federal, State and Local Oversight of Job Corps Facilities
How can we not see the possibility of our youth rights being violated at these Job Corps Facilities.
It is our responsibility to put pressure on our federal government to force them to move these facilities out of rural areas or revamp their current policies of oversight. It is crucial that we do this, it's not enough to say what we've done, we must profess what we are doing! We cannot allow this to become another TYC, its simply not acceptable we seen problems leading up to the scandal and Job Corps bears a painful resemblence.
With youth living on a facility in a rural area were their away from the comfort of family life, in which state and local governments have no jurisdicition. Therefore little oversight takes place.
We must act, sign the petition below so that we may prevent another national tragedy!
53. SOS from residents of Saket Complex, Thane
August 10, 2007
The Chief Justice,

Sub : S O S APPEAL FROM RESIDENTS OF SAKET COMPLEX, THANE TO STOP MOVEMENT OF HEAVY VEHICLES ON SAKET ROAD.
Respected Sir,
On behalf of 4000 residents residing in Saket CHS Ltd. and Saket Towers, I am filing this letter to you with an urgent plea to kindly intervene and give us relief for the various reasons mentioned under alongwith facts :
1. Vide its order dated July 26,2006, the Mumbai High Court through its respectable Judges, Justice RM Lodha and Justice Naresh H Patil, restricted the movement of Heavy vehicles in the city of Thane, from Majiwade junction to Meenatai Thackeray Chowk to K Villa up to Kalwa Bridge and onwards towards Vitava and Belapur.
2. Delivering the judgement the Hon. Judges stated that (quote) : Pt. no. 2 : The AGP informs us that a meeting of the Collector, Thane, Commissioner, Thane, Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner(Traffic), Thane and City Engineer, Thane Municipal Corporation took place on July 24, 2006.
3. Pt. no. 3 of the said judgement further states that (quote) : The AGP placed before us a change route map, marked X for identification purposes. As per the said route map, the traffic from National Highway No. 3 and National Highway No. 4 now passes through the road marked by arrows from Navi Mumbai to Old Agra Rd. According to the decision taken in the said meeting, the traffic from National Highway No. 3 and National Highway No. 4 does not pass through Meenatai Thackeray Chowk ( Castle Mill). We are thus satisfied that the grievance of the petitioner raised through the PIL has been redressed and no further orders need to be passed in the writ petition.(unquote).
4. After this order, the Thane Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police diverted the entire traffic of Heavy Vehicles on SAKET MARG.
5. The area through which the traffic is now passing consists of a cluster of 24 buildings( 7 storied) and 3 Towers ( 19 storied) – all residential premises. There is a School and Junior College in the area which works in 2 shifts. In fact, there are less residential buildings in the so-called city area from Meenatai
Thackeray Chowk to Kalwa Bridge, as the road passes through a big lake on one side, a playground on the other side and a Jail premises later.
6. We would like to stress here that the Hon. High Court does not possess, nor is it expected to possess the specialized knowledge about the effects of the movement of Heavy Traffic from different areas of the City.
7. Looking at the trends seen for the last few years in the High Court regarding PILs, it is noticed that the judiciary is now taking over the role of Bureaucracy without having to take the responsibility and in the course, instead of hauling up the concerned officers responsible for the mess, the Courts are indulging in trying to sort out the mess itself.
8. In the current case, we would like to inform you that there are 4000 people residing in the Saket vicinity who are bearing the brunt of the irresponsible decision to divert Highway traffic through a stretch of a road meant for residential premises and constructed to withstand only LIGHT VEHICULAR movement.
9. This diversion has created daily nuisance to these thousands of people including school going children, pregnant women, senior citizens and office-goers.
10. IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE THANE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND TRAFFIC DEPT. PREFERRED TO KEEP THE HON. HIGH COURT IN DARK ABOUT THE REGULAR CIVIL SUIT NO. 239/2005, FILED BY M/S. DAYANAND NENE AND RAJENDRA ABHYANKAR, BOTH RESIDENTS OF SAKET CHS LTD., WHICH IS PENDING IN THE CIVIL COURT, THANE, FOR RELIEFS REGARDING THE VERY TRAFFIC ON THE SAID ROAD ON VARIOUS GROUNDS INCLUDING THE POOR CONDITION OF THE ROAD.
11. A survey conducted by the Thane Municipal Corporation, after diverting this traffic on Saket Marg produced a shocking picture. It was found that in 24 hours more than 14,000 vehicles ply to and fro on this stretch of 4 kms – movement which has destroyed the road and left behind huge craters, rubble, pollution and NOISE POLLUTION.
12. Yes, during night time the noise levels due to constant brakeing and honking by these vehicles reaches decibel levels exceeding 130. The Supreme Court / High Courts have been pro-active in barring usage of Loud Speakers or Crackers after 10 pm. So, our plea is ban movement of Heavy Vehicles near Residential premises after 10 pm!
13. Here, we would like you to consider the following :
• Whether all parties present in the July 24 meeting have acted in conformity with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act?
• If they have acted in conformity with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, whether the diversion of Highway led traffic through an internal residential road can be construed of PROTECTING THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND DOES NOT AMOUNT TO VIOLATION OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT AS GUARANTEED UNDER ARTICLE 21 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA?
• Whether such disowning of responsibility which leads to residents resorting to remedies of Raasta Roko or Bandhs are in the best interest of society?
On this background, we have no alternative but to invoke extraordinary jurisdiction of this Hon. High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the protection of the rights of people as guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India and seeking redress of our grievance to implement the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act so as to maintain and uphold the interest of Public Safety and not allow it redundant at any cost and in any circumstances.
Hence this petition!!
Regards,
Dayanand Nene

54. Ian Holloway for England Manager
This is to get the legend that is Ian Holloway installed as England national football team manager.
First off he can't do a worse job than the last few, secondly he not going to carry on with Svens policies like Maclaren and finally he would be hilarious being interviewed at World Cup etc
55. National Homeless Awareness Day
In a given year 3.5 million Americans will experience homelessness. 800,000 men, women, and children are homeless each night in this nation.
The homeless population is 49% African-American, 35% Caucasian, 13% Hispanic, 2% Native American, and 1% Asian. 40% of the male homeless population is veterans. About 16% of the homeless in the U.S. have severe chronic mental illness. From the 1960's to the early 1980's, 367,000 patients were released from mental institutions, and ended up homeless for lack of having anywhere to go.
About 26% of the homeless population suffers from some form of drug or alchohol abuse. The National Coalition for the Homeless found in 2001 that 42%of the homeless population are employed by day labor agencies, characterized by low pay,no health insurance,no job security and inadequate worker protections.
The federal government says affordable housing should be no more than 30% of a person's income. In 1999, the national two-bedroom housing wage was $11.08: in 2006, the national housing wage was 16.31, a 47% increase. The lack of affordable housing is widely considered to be the main cause of homelessness in the United States today.
56. Nate and Tay the Worship Leaders
As you may know, Nate Hanson and Taylor Reavely are from Portland, Oregon. They have both competed and been around the NCFCA for around five years. Recently, they have started leading worship for different NCFCA qualifiers and National Opens. Their recent list includes:
Washington National Open (Seattle, WA)
Santa Rosa Touchè Qualifier (Santa Rosa, CA)
Gopher Hill Qualifier (Seattle, WA)
Rainmakers Speech & Debate (Portland, OR)
Many students have expressed how worshiping before speaking has placed their heart in the correct place. We hope to let this continue on a grander scale.

58. STOP logging/burning of thousands of Hoosier National Forest NOW!
From: Protect Our Woods, Heartwood, GreenFire Consulting Group, Indiana Forest Alliance and Tree of Life Alliance.
Date: November 22, 2006
The proposed “German Ridge Restoration Project” would clearcut 355 acres, shelterwood cut 120 acres, and thin 215 acres for a total of 685 acres of logging. The proposed timber sale also authorizes the building of two miles of new roads, the building of two miles of temporary roads, and the reconstruction of nine miles of existing roads. The project further authorizes prescribed burning of 2,170 acres, in one of the most popular recreation areas in the forest, an area known to be used by Indiana bats, and would likely add even more pollution to an area of Indiana that is already a nonattainment area for particulate matter. This is the first project the Forest Service is attempting to implement under the new Hoosier Forest Plan, which is still pending appeal from several environmental groups and individuals.
The German Ridge project has been stopped two times in the past ten years; the first time in the late 1990’s due to the discovery of Indiana bats in the project area, and the second time, this past summer, due to the Forest Service’s appealing officer’s decision that the environmental impact statement did not include an adequate “cumulative impact analysis,” and that the costs of the road building were not included in the economic analysis.
This is the third time, then, that the Forest Service is attempting to recycle this same, environmentally and economically destructive project. A few weeks ago, the Forest Service issued a “Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement” (SDEIS) to “correct the deficiencies in the last Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).” In other words, the Forest Service is refusing to throw this project out, but instead, has merely changed its paperwork. The public needs to comment on this new SDEIS.
There is a 45-day comment period on this new Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) that will end Monday, Dec 4. The document can be viewed by going to http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hoosier/project_docs/dn_dm/g_ridge_draft_sup_eis.pdf. You can also request a copy by writing the Forest Service at Hoosier National Forest Supervisors Office, 811 Constitution Avenue, Bedford, IN 47421 or by calling (812) 275-5987. You can send your comments to the Forest Service at the address above, or by Fax (812) 279-3423, or emailing r9_hoosier_website@fs.fed.us. Please send your comments into the Forest Service by December 4th!
59. National Technical Support Day
Every month you hear about National Boss Day, or Secretary's Day. What about the people that fix their computers? Do we so much as get a thank you for some of the stupidity we deal with on a day to day basis? We do everything from helping a user log into their account to stringing hundreds of feet of cat five cable for a company.
We deserve to be recognized for the simple fact that without us Maria's cup holder wouldn't work and John wouldn't get his daily amount of SPAM that he shouldn't be sending to work anyway. We deserve one day where users realize all that we do for them, and we actually hear a simple thank you.
60. Smokefree VFW
PLEASE: FOR VFW and LADIES AUXILLARY MEMBERS ONLY!
VFW facilities are a wonderful resource and important meeting place for our communities, returned and returning veterans, and families. These valuable gathering establishments would greatly benefit from a healthy, smoke-free environment.
Secondhand smoke has been found to cause disease and death by the United States Surgeon General and is a dangerous product for our families and veterans to breathe.
