32. Save The Gaiety for Community Use

195-197 City Road, Cardiff was once the iconic Gaiety cinema and later a Spin Bowling Alley. The building had been left empty for several years (we believe since 2006) and the company who owns it have fallen into debt.

Throughout the years that this building was empty, it has been abused by drug addicts and people stealing fixtures from the inside of the building. Earlier this year, a group of individuals have entered the building and are trying to set it up as a free social centre for the use of the community. Because of seeing lots of enthusiastic and supportive members of the community, we think this is a valid project.

We want to set up various skillshare sessions in the space, including several workshops in arts and crafts, music, performance art, language, yoga, climbing, freerunning etc. We would also like to us the space to kickstart several art projects and hold exhibition, all of which will be completely free.

Bonne Mares Limited have recently won a courtcase for a standard possession order, meaning they can send baliffs and remove us from the building whenever they choose. We need to act now if we want to save the space, which will otherwise be left to rot away (judging from the lack of interest from both buyers and owners).

We would ideally like to gain some sort of legal possession, preferably we would like to be able to look after the building until it is sold. We do not want any money but are more than willing to fix it up and work on it. We think this is both in the interest of the owner and the local community.

If you want to find out more about the project please visit http://welcometogremlinalley.wordpress.com/ or http://www.facebook.com/GremlinAlleyCardiff or send us an email welcometogremlinalley@riseup.net

If you would like to see our project come into fruition, please show support by signing this petition. We appreciate any kind of help we can get.

Thank you.

33. Traditional Chinese Characters for iTunes Music Store HK

It's wonderful that iTunes store has finally landed Hong Kong, allowing local music lovers to enjoy the quick and easy way to purchase copyrighted music any time, anywhere.

However, the names of some Hong Kong/ Taiwanese/ Mainland Chinese artists, Canto-pop and Mando-pop song and album titles, appear in English (which most of us can decode) or worse, in Mandarin pinyin ONLY!

In Hong Kong, we read authentic, i.e. traditional Chinese characters. We might speak Mandarin other than Cantonese and English, but most of us cannot decode the Mandarin pinyin as this is not part of our culture.

In this petition, I hope you can support my cause to ask Apple Inc. to reinstate all the Canto-pop and Mando-pop song and album titles in traditional Chinese characters its iTunes Hong Kong store.

This not only makes digital music shopping more convenient for us Hong Kong music lovers. It is also an act to protect our very own traditional Chinese heritage and roots, telling the world that though Hong Kong is a very small place, we deserve the respect we need.

Thank you for your support!

34. BLUR's Under The Westway/The Puritan release as CD single

The CD is the highest standard in music quality and we should not let companies sell us stupid digital files which are a poor reproduction of what the artists and bands were intended to create and release to their fans.

35. Restore the UNE Music Department

The University of New England Music Department is located in the C.B. Newling Building on the corner of Mossman and Faulkner Streets. Over time, the rooms allocated to UNE Music have fallen to a state of disrepair. It has become so bad that the University is losing potential students and as a direct consequence, money. Furthermore, the current students and staff have to work and learn in sub-standard rooms with sub-standard facilities.

This has gone on long enough. The staff have tried and requested something be done from UNE’s Facilities and Management Services, but to no avail. It’s only UNE Music’s rooms that are affected, the rooms in which the New England Conservatorium of Music are located have been restored and maintained. This is because NECOM pay ‘rent’ to the University and they in turn, maintain the facilities.

Even though the building is protected by Heritage listing, it can still be restored. What we’re proposing is simple. The rooms and hallways need to be restored to their original splendour; in some places the paint needs touching up, doors need varnishing, curtains need replacing, mould needs removing from the walls and ceiling, the carpets need to be steam cleaned and in places trimmed (for OH&S purposes), and most importantly the cracks in the walls need filling and fixing.

Then, the department needs upgrading to the standard that the Main Campus of UNE can boast; ceiling data projectors and smartboards need to be installed in the main lecture theatres, desktop computers for a student study space and new furniture in some of the rooms, particularly the student common room, lecture theatres and student study space.

All students and staff at UNE have the right to work and learn in a clean and safe environment, with technology of the same standard as each department in the University. The C.B. Newling Campus does not, at present meet those criteria. Each student in UNE Music deserves to study in an environment that is conducive to productive and effective learning. The department of UNE Music deserve to be treated as a part of the institution, because at the moment, we are not.

Kana have had a lot of concerts in Europe, because she really loves her fans.

37. Get Brain of Dyme Def Verified On Twitter

As of recently, Brain of Dyme Def was verified on www.twitter.com. He then changed his Twitter username causing his blue verified check mark to disappear. In an attempt to be re-verified, @Verified acted as if Brain was never verified in the first place.

This is wrong and untruthful because his entire crew, consisting of other members, SEV and Fearce, have been verified on www.twitter.com. Brains twitter username is: @BrainOfDymeDef

38. Bring The old Myspace back!

Remember the old Myspace? Searching local bands? No horrible lag? Friends lists that worked? Working IM's? Actually making your own layouts with no silly modules and lagging, forceful layout options?

We do, too! Myspace was the forefront for social and musical expansion. Corporate interference has taken that all away. It was the ONLY place musicians had and could have again to branch out.

Myspace, get rid of the new, silly design and bring back the good ol' days. Simple layout, basic HTML editable design. We miss it.

Facebook is a HORRIBLE alternative to what Myspace used to be. Give our social site back!

43. Keep French Quarter and Frenchmen Street Music Alive

This petition is specifically in response to the recent lawsuit against Balcony Music Club (BMC) and citations handed down to Maison, Mojito’s and Vaso, as well as complaints against the noise levels of Bourbon and Frenchmen Streets and against www.hearthenolamusic.com.

The French Quarter is the life-blood of New Orleans tourism – tourists come in the millions spending in the billions. And tourists don’t come here for a quiet sleepy town. After Katrina, city officials encouraged tourists to return to enjoy The Big Easy and people from the US and across the globe answered the call. As a result, tourism dollars have helped to reinvigorate the city. No city in the US boasts the live music scene that New Orleans does. The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau website (http://www.neworleanscvb.com/press-media/press-kit/whats-new/) details the growth since Katrina.

We understand that French Quarter homeowners should enjoy the advantages of living in this incredible community. However we also believe that living in such a place comes with the understanding that crowds and music are a part of life. There are many beautiful and quiet neighborhoods in New Orleans. Moving next door to a music club would lead one to believe that peace and quiet is not a priority.

We assert that just as French Quarter residents expect bar/restaurant owners to comply with city noise ordinances that residents also take it upon themselves to take measures to keep noise out (by installing double paned glass or taking other such measures).

That being said, noise ordinances should be followed – with reasonable and agreed upon ordinances in place and officers equipped with properly working decibel readers. In the case of a noise complaint, officers can report to the scene and take a reading. If necessary, citations can be issued and reported with the actual decibel number. Business owners can then equip themselves with decibel readers, police their establishments (making adjustments to their venues if they wish) and work in cooperation the city. This way, should the noise level occur from street activity, officers can focus on the true culprits of the noise. As enjoyable as impromptu street music can be, business owners and the musicians who perform in their venues should not be penalized if they are not the true source of the problem.

**Please sign and share. The goal is 10,000 signatures.**

44. SUPPORT UNDERGROUND POWER-LINES FOR ENDANGERED ECOSYSTEMS (nature)

Energex have plans to construct high voltage (Dual 33kv -110kv )cement poles & power lines through an area that has been classified as remnant vegetation containing endangered ecosystems.

There is an abundance of wildlife such as platypus , birds, bandicoots, koala habitat, butterflies and much more. Rare flora have been recorded in this unique regional importance ecosystem.

Energex refuse to even look at the option to place the power lines unground through this portion of sensitive Glasshouse Mountains land. They deny any accountability for tree clearing, claim no accountability for the destruction and annihilation of 1000 to 2000 + trees & shrubs! There are other viable alternatives for Energex to consider!

MOU standards dictate they must source alternate options when endangered environment is present & living!!

HELP THE FLORA AND FAUNA. NEVER HAS THIS AREA BEEN CLEARED BEFORE!

46. Jackson Houston Hollywood Drug Ban

Drugs in the music and movie business have taken many lives over the years. At no point has the industry taken a solid stand to improve this condition. Society in general bans drug use in the workplace as do others such as professional and amateur sports teams.

Hollywood should now lead the way in banning drugs and drug use in light of the recent losses of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. A policy banning drug use should be contained in every talent contract and embrace a true zero tolerance drug policy.

This policy would be mandated and appear in every recording or movie contract. The clause would terminate the contract upon breach. This ban can and should also extend to any lyrics and content that promote the use and sale of illegal drugs.

49. Martin Linenko Jr. - Requesting Release from Segregation at Fairbanks Correctional Facility

This is Nicole Smith, fiancee of Martin Linenko Jr, aka Yae Neech. Martin has never been a threat to the Fairbanks community, where he was born and raised and has strived to only become a better man and father to his family.

Since a young child he's been well known to the members of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, participated in sports (mostly football), and spent summers doing construction jobs.

Several years back he decided to try his hand in the music business by starting a legit music label...recording music, making & selling instrumentals, collaborating with industry artists on tracks, as well as coordinating live performances here in the Fairbanks area.

The Law assumes that Martin is a threat (an expression of intention to inflict evil, injury or damage) to our community. If you know him at all, you would know that this is NOT in his character. His family and I have created a PETITION appealing to authority with RESPECT to his cause. In support of "Yae Neech" we are asking that you PLEASE take a moment of your time to SIGN THIS PETITION for him.

We GREATLY APPRECIATE all support given. WE LOVE & MISS HIM DEARLY! SO LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO BRING HIM HOME.

50. WJJG is For Smart Shows Only

Not only did 2011 see the sudden death of Joe Gentile, but the removal of intelligent programming and music from weekdays (and even parts of the weekend).

It is totally unfair to get rid of Angry White Male, Job Talk, John DiVita's Morning Show, and other programming that made WJJG an amazing radio station.

Mancow should not be on at all. He is incoherent and his show does not belong on a community radio station like WJJG. Michael Savage should be aired in two hours or removed too, and sent back to WIND.

If you believe that WJJG should continue with original programming and music during weekdays, please sign this petition. This is an outrage and we need to keep whatever we have left of special radio stations like WJJG.

51. Create Recreational Music and Rehearsal Facility

The local community makes the efforts of the local music entertainment industry difficult due to city noise ordinance limitations combined with neighborhood populations.

Police forces are sometimes called to assess these situations, sometimes issuing tickets, at sporadic times when they could very well be performing their civic duties in areas that are more worthy of their time.

The populace are also, at times, disturbed by the efforts of local musicians due to disagreements in genre/times of play/various other reasons.

53. FIRE Nicole Scherzinger from X-FACTOR

I am calling on the X-Factor producers and Simon Cowell to Fire Nicole Scherzinger, she obviously does not know how to judge. When the chips are down she crumbles and is 2 faced. It started off as a good show, but as of last night I will no longer watch it. Rachel has more talent than Canty, she sang her heart out every time she got on stage. Canty does not measure up. He is a karaoke singer at best.

Nicole Scherzinger has no #1 songs or albums. She took her personal frustrations out on a 13yr old girl who has a much better voice then her and Paula. I believe it was over jealousy.

55. Support The Quotes playing Reading Festival 2012

The Reading Festival from its origins used to begin with a performance by a local rock band. Latterly, this tradition has fallen away. Reading has a long tradition and association with music as well as hosting one of the Worlds most famous music festivals. A very large proportion of the Festival crowd are from Reading and its environs.

The Quotes are a young, highly dynamic and energetic Reading band who have financed their own album and have a very large following. We would like The Quotes to play Reading Festival 2012 to demonstrate their talent and the rock music talent that Reading continues to generate. Where better to do this than their local Festival!
