2. Appropriate Classification Movies for Babes In Arms Screenings

During the past 50 years, thousands of research studies have revealed that the media can be a powerful teacher of children and have a profound impact on their health.

To date, too little has been done by parents, health care practitioners, schools, the government and the entertainment industry to protect children from harmful media effects. By selecting M and MA movies for Babes In Arms sessions, cinemas are not helping.

Babes in Arms sessions are a great idea for parents and guardians to be able to enjoy movies while taking care of children, but movies need to be appropriate. Little eyes and ears absorb more than we realise.

In Australia, we have film classifications for a reason. There are good reasons why movies are classed as being suitable for only Mature audiences and adults only. Therefore, we should not have to choose between missing out on having some "time out" while watching a movie, or subjecting out children to a movie that has drug and alcohol abuse, strong language, sexuality/nudity, and an intense action sequences etc.

Keep Babes In Arms Movies to G and PG movies only!

3. Stop Smoking in movies: It kills in real life

After several years of decline, smoking imagery in youth rated movies (G, PG, and PG-13) increased 36 percent in 2011.

According to the Surgeon General’s 2012 report Preventing Tobacco Use Among Youth and Young Adults there is a causal relationship between depictions of smoking in the movies and smoking initiation among young people. PG-13 movies are the biggest concern since they account for nearly two-thirds of the smoking scenes adolescents see on the big screen.

Smoking is still a serious threat to our youth. According to the Surgeon General, nearly all adults who smoke started before the age of 18. Smoking during the teen years causes early damage to the lungs which in most cases cannot be reversed completely. It also leads to health problems including heart disease, asthma and numerous cancers as well as breathlessness and the inability to participate in physical activities.

4. CALL FOR A KIMERALD COMEBACK TELESERYE AND MOVIE PROJECT

This is a legitimate petition of the loyal fans of Kimerald who have supported their endorsements, shows and movies for the past 6 years and 10 months and have contributed to the continued success of ABS-CBN.

After we haven't seen them in a major TV and movie project since December, 2010, we deserve to have Kimerald again. Their fan base remains very strong and solid. A Kimerald teleserye would help boost primetime ratings, attract more prime advertisers for ABS-CBN and would make us watch the network's shows again and a Kimerald movie would be a sure box office hit.

The Kimerald loveteam possesses an undeniable charm, magic and genuine chemistry that would delight even the most jaded of heart and has won many 'most popular loveteam' polls and awards since 2006.

Kimerald aren't just an ordinary loveteam, but a loveteam with star power as proven by the huge success of their teleseryes and movies especially their last 2 and 3 respectively.

As a matter of fact, when Tayong Dalawa bid farewell, it had a strong 45.8% rating leading all primetime shows during its 8-month run and has significantly contributed to the Philippine primetime television industry and Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo was a consistent top rater. In 2010, Paano Na Kaya and Till My Heartaches End are on the list of top 12 highest grossing local films and last year, 24/7 in Love had a big impact to Kimerald fans as witnessed by ABS-CBN executives during the premiere night.

5. No more cruelty to film animals

You may be shocked to discover that the American Humane Association's famous "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie" disclaimer does not protect film animals at all times; it only applies to actual making of the movie, not the training nor the animals' lives afterwards.

Animals have been beaten, had their skin and flesh torn, been neglected and confined to tiny tanks and cages, as well as hideous problems, due to this deadly loophole.

6. Release 'The Possession' and 'Silent Hill Revelation' to Australian Cinemas

The horror movie 'The Possession' made $69,899,892 worldwide yet that statistic alone isn't enough to convince the distributors to release to Australian cinemas. Apparently it is going straight to DVD.

Australia cinemas, particularly this year, have not given the Horror genre a fair go. There is an audience in Australia and going by comments on various forums and social media sites, people are none too pleased about movies like The Possession and possibly Silent Hill Revelation not being released to the cinemas in Australia.

Give horror movies a fair go in Australia.

8. End nudity in movies

Nudity really needs to come to an end in movies, and the sexiness and half naked women on tv also needs to stop. It's sickening to think about what this world is coming to. I think there is enough sin in this world and almost everyone could use a little more cleanliness and godly things in our lives.

More importantly, young female adults and grown women are becoming depressed and feeling unworthy compared to what is thrown in our face in almost every movie and tv show. My cousin actually tryed to commit suicide from not feeling pretty enough from seeing all the hot, shapely naked women in movies and their are many more feeling just like she does over this crap.

I think that movies directors should stop and think what if it were their daughter feeling this way and attempting suicide over feeling worthless and ugly, then maybe they would put an end to it. Also why is it always women, women like to see men just as much as men like to see women. I also believe marriages could use a little less filth and sexual images being forced into their minds. There is so much sickness in the world, we should be trying to do what we can to keep this world more clean and less sexually tempted and turned on.

Sex, and nudity should be kept in the bedroom between those acting in it, not everywhere we turn our heads. You never know what good could come out of taking nudity and sex out of movies, the only thing that will come out of it will be good, nothing bad will happen by ending this filth only good things so why not put an end to it. Someone's marriage or relationship, and or family could be saved or maybe some lives will be saved if people weren't so depressed over how they feel compared to what they see or someone's sanity could be restored.

You never know, any little bit helps so why wouldn't you want to do good in this world and stop the nudity. Just think, they are called movie's so make it a movie... let the filth be for XXX rated movie's. Movies and porn are two different things so let them be two different things!

9. Reinstate the Film Tax Credit in the State of New Jersey

Need Support so please sign petition to approve or look into the case for the return of vetoed Digital Media and Film Tax Credit. The Governor hasn't given any ground on the issue, though the Fort Lee Film Commission has Bergen County Senators Loretta Weinberg and Paul Sarlo in their corner.

The two Democrats pushed to reinstate the tax credit in October of last year so let's all pitch in by passing this Petition to see if we can make this happen for 2012.

Why reinstate the Film Tax Credit in the State of New Jersey?

1. It would create jobs.

2. It would bring television and film productions and visitors to the state and celebrate Fort Lee’s rich film history.

3. It would preserve New Jersey’s motion picture legacy.

The issue has caught the attention of Actor, producer, director, filmmaker and energy/green activist Antonio Saillant, who lives in New York City-[but grew up in Northvale, NJ], could well be called a Renaissance man – a man with many passions and talents.

I am looking to filming in NJ, a movie entitled The Golden Knights, is partly autobiographical and wholly inspirational. A movie about the 1979 Old Tappan football team which tells the tale of how a losing [team] began to [turn that streak around and] sow the first seeds of promise and pride in the school and surrounding towns. The whole turning point of the Golden Knights was then, where my older brother Angel [died in a 1987 car accident, but was the football team's captain] was on the 1979 team. “[After a very long losing streak] they started being successful and then they won states in 1985, and the journey continues.”

Every night, I see myself up late poring over ways to make this happen, reading your letters, and writing notes to people I met. I am doing that for you -- working hard every day to make sure we can finish what we all started together.

I need you to have my back.

10. Restore and re-make "The Story of the Kelly Gang" - The first ever full-length film

You'd think that because it is the world's first ever film, "The Story of the Kelly Gang" would be quite famous. However, it isn't even in the RadioTimes Guide to films. This review guide has over 23,000 other film reviews.

I watched the movie on YouTube and thought that, while it was quite informative and a good film to look back on and compare with movies nowadays, it needed restoration. All this movie needs to inform the public about this story is to be re-made in colour and changed from silent to non-silent.

This movie does definitely have some potential, but it really needs to restored.

11. Save Dungog Cinema

The James Theatre (Dungog Cinema) is the oldest purpose-built cinema still operating in Australia. In December 1912 the Dungog Electric Lighting Company set up an open air theatre seating 1000 on the present site!

Then in 1917 James Stuart who owned the land took over the Cinema and by Jan 1918 had constructed a new roofed building. The building, with its Spanish Mission facade added in 1930, is of significant cultural and architectural heritage.

The recent closure of the commercial cinema business is as a direct result of the film distribution change to the specific D-Cinema digital format and in no way a fault of the current management. The consequent scarcity of 35mm film prints or alternative digital media formats suitable for small cinemas to show movies in a reasonable time after release has meant business has declined. Also the cost of the new 2K projectors and E-Cinema server/media block systems has hampered their take-up by small independent cinemas.

The media moguls are too big to be fought by small operators, so help and lobbying at the highest level by Australian politicians and film industry luminaries is needed.

This has brought an insurgence of interests from fans for a Star Wars Celebration in Australia.

This would be a fantastic opportunity for Star Wars fans from the Oceania/Asia Pacific region to attend to and celebrate our love for Star Wars, and what better way to make it happen in 2012, to coincide with the 10 year anniversary of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, that was primaringly shot in Sydney, Australia.

17. Cancel Cannes 2010 Awards in Support of Jafar Panahi

On May 18th, during a press conference at Cannes, it was revealed Panahi went on hunger strike. We all understand that isolated complaints will not have the necessary impact to free him, but maybe cancelling this year awards could drive enough media attention to the issue.

19. Kathi McDonald Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Kathi McDonald's landed the vocalist her first big professional gig when she was attending a concert and joined in as part of the audience. McDonald's powerful voice drew Ike Turner's notice in a club called the Winterland, and he invited the aspiring singer to his and Tina Turner's next rehearsal. McDonald had snagged a ...spot in the Ikettes, the Turners' backing group. It was a heady and magical beginning for someone who never had any formal lessons.

Born in Washington state in 1948, McDonald performed professionally for the first time around Seattle when she was 12 years old. At the age of 19 she set off for San Francisco and its burgeoning musical climate, where she met the Turners and, through her association with them, took the first step on a career path that would span more than four decades.

Not long after the evening at Winterland, her talent caught the attention of Big Brother & the Holding Company's Sam Andrew. McDonald threw her lot in with the band in 1969, leading to appearances on the albums Can't Go Home Again, How Hard It Is, and Be a Brother. She went on to sing with Mad Dogs & Englishmen for Joe Cocker, and later sang with Leon Russell's Shelter People. Her session work included recordings for such artists as the Rolling Stones, Nils Lofgren, Rita Coolidge, Delaney & Bonnie, and Dave Mason. Her work for other musical artists totals up to appearances on almost 160 albums, more than six dozen of which achieved gold status. In addition, McDonald also launched a solo career in 1974 with the release of the album Insane Asylum. The recording was arranged by Pete Sears, whose formal band associations include Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship.

Insane Asylum featured performances by Tower of Power, the Pointer Sisters, Aynsley Dunbar, John Cippolina, Neil Schon, and Ronnie Montrose. Kathi did not release another solo effort for 20 years, when Save Your Breath appeared. Above and Beyond followed in 1999, featuring contributions from Lee Oskar on harmonica and Brian Auger on keyboards. McDonald devoted more than two decades to recording and performing in collaboration with Long John Baldry, and the duo scored with their version of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" when it was released in Canada. The song reached number 2 in Australia and also made the US charts.

Aside from collaborative efforts Kathi has solo projects of her own: Insane Asylum(1974), David Briggs, producer of the second Alice Cooper album Easy Action and multiple early Neil Young discs is at the helm on Insane Asylum. With arrangements by The Jefferson Starship's Pete Sears, whose formal band associations include Hot Tuna this is a showcase for the chops and musicianship of McDonald. There's a terrific reading of the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" and an interesting first track co-written by McDonald and Pete Sears, "Bogart to Bowie," with Nils Lofgren on guitar and Bobbye Hall on percussion. The photos of McDonald on the back cover are chaotic and beautiful, a cartoon caricature of these adorns the cover, the illustration by Seiko Kashihara. With Ronnie Montrose on guitar and Pete Sears on keys for a heavy version of "(Love Is Like A) Heatwave," you basically have Big Brother & the Holding Company/ Montrose/Jefferson Starship covering Martha & the Vandellas. With what may be the best performance on the disc, "Threw Away My Love," the second Sears/McDonald original, Kathi's great, bluesy vocal fights and Journey's Neil Schon on guitar give the track tons of soul! "Freak Lover" features the late Starship violinist Papa John Creach and is appropriately manic for an album about insanity.

Willie Dixon's composition, "Insane Asylum," with Pete Sears and Nils Lofgren, is a blues workout deluxe. Neil Schon and Pete Sears accompany Kathi on a Peter Frampton tune, "All I Want to Be." Lofgren and Sears do a heavy cover of Neil Young's "Down to the Wire" for the singer to display her wonderful voice. There is an abundance of talent here, creating a nice platform for this important singer. Insane Asylum also featured performances by Tower of Power, the Pointer Sisters, Aynsley Dunbar, John Cippolina.

Her next solo project was Save Your Breath (1994), then Above And Beyond (1999) featuring contributions from Lee Oskar on harmonica and Brian Auger on keyboards. She reunited with Big Brother & the Holding Company in California for a concert on New Years Eve, 1997.

Her self-titled Kathi McDonald (2005) is a triumph in a long and prestigious career. This CD showcases the still incredible voice, timing, soulful delivery, and talent that is Kathi McDonald, the musician's choice as singer, the musician's musician, and still the biggest little white girl to ever sing the blues coming out of the West Coast. The main forces behind the CD, Pete Slauson and Ann Pierson (partners for years in the nineties at 2B1 Music, Maritime Hall, San Francisco, CA).

23. Marvel we want real movies

We the here signed strongly believe that Marvel studios should purchase back the production rights for their franchises. Of these we feel that X-Men should be the main focus. We are tired of third party studios taking characters that we hold dear and turning them into cash crops. A movie should make us think and feel for the characters. These studios have taken away the emotion of the characters. They have taken away the narrative that drives the action and plot. Instead they give us endless, mindless, and pointless action scenes. They do not even attempt to try to stay true to the source material.

If we must pay ten dollars to see a movie, we want one that we can both be entertained and be taken on a journey with the character. We want to feel for them and understand why they do what they do. Why must we hand over 10 dollars of our hard earned money to see epilepsy for the eyes? In comparison to the films that Marvel Studios has completed, these being Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, they truly give us what we want in a movie. They only people that should make a movie about a specific character or group of characters are those who know them best. You would not give a romance movie to a person who has only made action movies all there lives. It is the same as taking all the leftovers after the butchering a cow, putting them in a meat grinder, forming it into a burger, and selling it to us as Black Angus meat. Why must we continually sacrifice a good movie for the sake of ticket sales?

It is now our time to show Marvel what we, as their customers and fans, really want. We want a great film not just a tolerable movie. Not simply something that we slightly enjoy while sitting in the theater. We want something that overwhelms us with greatness and yet makes us want more. We are tired of trying to sift through dung in order to find the good parts. Why must me compromise? We are the ones who want change.

24. Bring back Oakland's Parkway Speakeasy Theater!

Since its start back in 1997, the Parkway Speakeasy Theater has become an anchor for both residents and small business in the Lake Merritt and Eastlake communities, as well as a source of pride for Oakland and the greater Bay Area.

Residents frequently say “I live near the Parkway.”

Businesses in the area often use the theater as a reference point as well. In fact, some businesses may not have initially given this district a chance without the Parkway as the mainstay.

It is a rare and special thing when a small business is central to the hearts and minds of both residents and businesses alike.

For the last decade, the Parkway Speakeasy Theater has been a deserving focal point for the good things happening in this part of Oakland.

With the departure of this vital business, the community has lost one of its biggest advocates. It is sad to imagine what long term impact this will have on the desirability of the residential neighborhoods (property values) and the retention/attraction of small business (economic viability) in the surrounding area.

This is why action is needed, and required, on behalf of the Lake Merritt and Eastlake communities, and Oakland/Alameda at large. If you have not already signed the petition in person outside of the Parkway Theater, please help support this cause. Help bring back the Parkway Theatre!

27. Trenell Mooring to portray the role of Eartha Kitt in a Biopic of her life

My friends and I decided to create this petition when we learned that Beyonce was being considered to play the role of Eartha Kitt in a Biopic of her life.

We love Beyonce, lawd knows we do! But but there are other talented actresses out there who deserve a chance at this role.

We believe that the actress who plays Eartha should at least look like her, Like Trenell Mooring for example. With the grace of Dorothy Dandridge, the substance of Lena Horne, and the raw sensuality of Eartha Kitt, Trenell Mooring is set to take the silver screen by storm.

A veteran of the theater, Trenell would be the wise choice both in physical likeness and in acting talent to portray the legendary Eartha Kitt in a biopic of her life.

Trained at the world renowned Stellar Adler academy, Trenell is not only a skilled actress but she is a dead ringer for a young Eartha Kitt.

So please help us help Trenell get an audition by signing the petition below.

30. Classification warnings about violence towards animals in film and tv

The Classification board of Australia warns us about almost everything in our movies and tv shows these days; sexual references, drugs, swearing and violence, to name a few, but the one thing they don't seem to tell us about is the content of abusive behaviour to animals.

Of the all the things we are exposing our families to, violence to animals should be the last things our kids see.
There are already too many people in our country abusing animals, without us glamorising it the form we as humans, most relate to.

We allow tv and film to make light of animal violence by showing our favourite stars kicking their dog in anger or seeing the face of a cat, full of quills after fighting off a porcupine.
And on top of that, we're encouraged to think it's funny!

This kind of humour may never leave our entertainment formula, but we need to be able to decide for ourselves whether or not we want our family to be exposed to it.
