1. Only Fools and Horses Uncut DVD
Only Fools & Horses was named Britain's Best Sitcom in a 2004 poll. Unfortunately when the series was released onto DVD it was cut and edited.
Fools and Horses deserves a pukka DVD box set, full of extras and all of the original scenes and music intact.
2. Save the Horses at Yaralla, Concord
Horse owners at Concord West are being ordered to rehome their horses away from the inner west. The Yaralla Estate in Concord West is a one-of-a-kind location that is valued by the community. Part of what makes it so special is that it is home to around 30 horses in an area so close to the city.
Local residents have, for my years, enjoyed the opportunity to visit the paddocks, introducing children to horses in an area they would often not have the chance, as well as providing a unique atmosphere of peace and tranquility so close to the city.
A further concern is that when the horses have been kicked out, what will stop the grounds being developed into something that is not community friendly?
Please help us keep these beautiful animals in their homes.
3. Time to Stop Horse Slaughter
If you sign this petition, you could make the world a better place for animals. I want horse slaughter to end.
It is evil to slaughter horses, their meat is toxic to humans, so why slaughter them?
Well, if you want horse slaughter to stop, please sign my petition!
Thanks!!
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife trust (HWT) in conjunction with Hampshire Council and Foot Print Ecology are planning to graze livestock (the current plan is to graze cattle and ponies) on Yateley common (both sides of the A30) Blackbushe and Hartford Bridge flats. In order to do this they will need to erect boundary fencing, cattle grids and gates.
The HWT gave the public a chance to air their views last Saturday 15th September at the Tythings, however many concerned people were not aware this “consultation” was taking place. Therefore we feel it necessary to start a petition ensuring all those opposed to the grazing of livestock on the common have a voice.
Research on the internet shows that these conservation grazing projects are causing problems to common land users all over the country, with gates and cattle grids being installed often without authorisation from the Highway Authority. Self closing gate mechanisms like rat traps are causing horrific accidents to horses attempting to pass through the gates, and cattle grids that often obstruct the right of way are causing accidents to people on foot, ridden horses as well as the grazing stock.
5. Ban the Chuck Wagon Races once and for all
The Chuck Wagon Races have been very popular for many people for many years at the Calgary Stampede but is it really worth the lives of innocent animals who don't have a choice?
On Thursday, July 12th, 2012, 3 more horses had to be put down for 'sport' after they had crashed. One more horse from this same crash has serious injuries and will be needing surgery. This doesn't include the many other horses that have died from many other causes throughout the years. These deaths include crashes, heart-attacks and pure exhaustion, among other things. These horses are experiencing the worst kind of deaths imaginable because their last living moments, they are suffering from so much pain.
The rodeo is a fun and exciting event but do we really need the Chuck Wagon Races? This is simply cruelty to animals masquerading as entertainment and it needs to be stopped.
We need to take action to stop these deaths from occurring every year. The safety improvement have clearly not worked so out next step is to stop this from happening altogether.
Please sign if you believe in animal welfare. These horses need better lives and to not be used in brutal entertainment.
6. Save Rose Cottage Horse Agistment!
The ACT government has been trying to develop this land for over the last ten years. Every time a proposal has been put forwards, the local community has rallied to keep the land the way it is, in a largely undeveloped state.
The South Tuggeranong community DOES NOT want this land developed - rather, we would like to see it remain in it natural state as a piece of bush land that all the community can enjoy for outdoor recreations such as horse riding, bush walking, etc.
See Survey Results Supporting The Preservation of the Land.
Please sign our petition to stop the development of our community's bush land!
7. Keep I'll Have Another in USA
Paul Reddam sold KY Derby Winner and Preakness Winner to Japan.
This is a loss to the fan base and to the KY area.
We want him back so he can stand in the US and fans can see him.
8. Stop horse slaughtering in Australia
Have you ever thought of what happens after the race?
In the horse racing industry it’s not about horses, it’s about people and money. Approximately 2,000 tonnes of horse meat is exported for human consumption each year and over 40,000 horses are slaughter in Australia alone.
Also this meat is not being exported to countries where there are starving people with few options. It is being sent to wealthy countries that consider horse meat to be a “delicacy”.
How do they kill them? An employee comes into what’s called the “kill room” and holds a pressurized gun called a "captive bolt pistol" up to the horse's forehead and shoots a 4-inch piece of metal about the size of a roll of quarters into its brain.
Why do they get sent to be slaughtered? Many race horses are sent to be slaughtered if there owners decide that they don’t want them anymore. Not only that but if they have some sort of a long term injury (Possible Broken leg) that most of the time can be healed over a period of time.
Instead of this the owners could arrange for them to be put on some sort of a retirement paddock where they can be paddock horses for the rest of their lives.

10. Stop funding/conducting animal experiments
Argument 1#
"Animal testing is vital to medical advancement".
This is completely untrue. Vaccinations have been produced for one of the most well-known and tragic type of illness; cancer. A vaccination against one type of cancer was tested on a small group of volunteers. As far as I am aware, none of the volunteers were harmed in testing process.
There are now so many charities that do not fund or conduct animal experiments, such as The Age-Related Diseases and Health Trust, that do not test on animals so it would be possible for the Alzheimer's Society to stop funding/conducting animal experiments. These organizations carry out their research on alternatives such as fake organs and computer models. Not only do these methods save thousands of animals, but some scientists also say that they are more reliable. If all scientists used these methods, more people would be saved.
Argument 2#
"Animal testing has saved thousands of lives, including those of diabetics".
Although animal-tested medicines have saved people before, these were mostly invented in the days when there were not as many alternatives to the use of animals. Even these could have been tested on volunteers and donated body parts.
Research into treatments for Diabetes was in fact held up by animal testing. If animal testing had of been banned 200 years ago, Diabetics would have benefited enormously. A doctor found out that Diabetes was linked to high and low amounts of sugar in peoples' diets by looking at the urine of Diabetics, not by performing animal experiments.
Argument 3#
"Lab animals are well-cared for and the scientists try to minimise their suffering".
Although there are laws to protect animals used in experiments, these laws are so poorly-enforced that they might as well not exist. Many of them exist only to protect scientists from animal cruelty charges. Scientists that work in these labs can, in most cases, legally: cut animals open, gas them, shoot them, burn them, drop chemicals into their eyes, irritate their skins, give them electric shocks, deprieve them of food, water and/or sleep, take them away from their mothers when they are too young and force-feed them chemicals. Animals may be forced to live in barren cages until they are either killed or die due to the experiments in which they are tortured.
Believe it or not, some people illegally kidnap animals to sell them for vivisection.
So if you have ever lost an animal companion, there is a risk that he or she might have been captured and sold for vivisection. Although most of the animals tortured are bred specifically for use in experiments, some of them are illegally taken from the people who love and care for them.
11. Friends and Supporters of Equine City
I have lived in Clairmont most of my life and the sudden news of changes at Equine City saddens me. My granddaughter who suffers from Tourettes plus other disabilities takes riding lessons at Equine City and the staff is wonderful with the children.
With having a child with Tourettes it’s hard to find a place that will even accept her in a program. My granddaughter looks forward to each lesson and the new things she will learn.
As friends of Equine City, our goal is to keep all animal programs up and running. Equine City has so many things to offer such as family fun days on Sundays, riding programs even for children with Tourettes, horse riding instruction for any level and great birthday parties complete with hay, wagon or sleigh and pony rides, a petting zoo, summer riding camps, field trips and bonfires for student-adult groups.
The County of Grande Prairie is now trying to take all of this away because of a permit issue which arose due to a neighbor’s complaint! Equine City has been shut down for the family fun days, the pony birthdays parties and school field trips effective immediately and all booked events have to be cancelled now because the permit they hold is apparently not satisfactory.
We feel that this is unfair and are petitioning the closing of these programs. Please help us in our fight to keep Equine City’s programs open to the public.
Thanks to all of you in advance for your support in keeping this great place open to the public.
12. Ask Toyota Canada to stop promoting their product with the abuse of animals!
EMERGENCY, TAKE ACTION!!
Website in question: http://winatundra.ca/
- Toyota vehicles are great but there is no need to promote their products by giving away free trips to the Calgary Stampede where animals are brutally abused and die for entertainment.
- Toyota Canada is having a promotion where you can enter to win a new Toyota truck or a trip to the Calgary Stampede

13. Just Say NO to Horse Slaughter
Approximately 100,000 American horses are slaughtered inhumanely in slaughter houses. They ride cramped in trailers for days without food and water just to be shot in the head and still alive to have their throat cut to breathe their last breath.
This is cruel and inhumane. Horses have stood beside us in war, carried us across the country, plowed our fields, they remain loyal at all times to us. Is slaughter the only thanks they get?
14. Keep Edinburgh Mounted Police Unit
LOTHIAN and Borders Police is set to lose its mounted section. The unit has been recommended for closure, with the horses transferred to Strathclyde Police as part of plans to save £52,000 a year.
The redeployment would reduce services in the community and lead to further centralisation of resources.
15. Responsible ownership to clear horses mess up off our footpaths and our countryside
This is for the government to bring in that all horse riders are to clean up after there horses when they are out and about, it needs to be brought in as public footpaths are coming more of a disgrace and our country side.
Dog owners have to clear up after there dogs or we have to pay a fine, so i think the same should go for horse riders and owners. its not nice having to step past horse mess on our footpaths or in our country side.
16. Keep Horse Slaughter Illegal In America
I'm going to make this short, sweet, and too the point. As you may or may not know, Obama quietly signed a bill to allow horse slaughter in America again.
Not only do I not believe in the brutal, inhumane ways of horse slaughter, I do not believe in the consumption of their meat. The horse slaughter plants will be opening again in about a month, or less. For those of you who don't know how a horse is slaughtered - it's not pretty, no mercy is shown to the horses.
Look it up on youtube.com to see for yourself. Simply signing this will not harm you in any way so even if horses are not your favorite animal - why not sign it? Also, don't think "what about cow slaughter?" I'm not saying that's okay, but this is here, for the horses. So, please sign this to save the horses where - yes, there are better endings for them rather than a brutal slaughter.
17. Stop Congress from Allowing Horse Slaughter for Consumption
Congress decided to lift the five year ban on horse slaughter in the United States. Not only are horses pets to most Americans but there is no shortage of proteins or food to consume.
Congress also did not set aside funding for horse slaughter houses inspections which means right now even though slaughter houses are going to open the FDA will have no money to fund inspecting these houses.
Now that the ban has been lifted slaughter houses for Horses will be re-opened in the united states for sale and distribution to the public. It is our job to stop the pointless slaughter of one of natures most caring animals.
18. Keep Pace University Clean of Horse Feces
Due to the manner of their inhabitance of the university perimeter, the student body requests that the NYPD Mounted Unit please pick up after their horses, including their droppings which they have left around the school for the past two months.
It is distasteful, disgusting, and rude to current and prospective students visiting the school as well as its faculty, staff, and patrons of the university. This petition serves as a device for the university to speak out against the horse poop publicly left around the vicinity of the school campus by the NYPD Mounted Unit. We feel they have abused their power and their stay around our university campus, which has left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
By signing this petition, we at Pace University stand up for our rights as students and as citizens of the United States and to take action against the conditions we must live and learn in. The continual protests of university students which have thus far gone unrecognized exemplify the university president’s and NYPD’s disregard for the University’s and surrounding community’s welfare. It is incorrect to think the university does not control or have say over the situation.
We do and our voice will be heard. This is about our health, our safety, our comfort, and most importantly, about respect as a community united under an environment of learning. It is high time for the mounted police officers to comply with our requests for decency and civility. We ask them to get off their high horse, metaphorically and literally, to clean up their horse poop. Pace University is not the NYPD's personal horse stable and we request that they do not act as if it is. Every university student has the right to live and learn in a safe and comfortable environment. This concerns all students, faculty, and staff at Pace University as well as all students nationwide. We must stand up for our rights.
We, as a student body, must unite against the disrespect and disgusting conditions we have been subjected to. We do not pay this much for Pace University to endure being brushed off by university higher ups, who have allowed us to be subjected to these disgusting conditions. Let this petition signify our endurance and persistence in the matter before us.
Please sign the petition below if you wish to not smell or see horse feces everyday on your way to class and/or work.
Almost a year ago a herd of horses were found in a paddock in Mandurah, these horses and ponies are being neglected, malnourished and just left for dead.
There is constantly new horses arriving and old horses vanishing. People have personally witnessed the condition of these poor animals and some have been left to die in the paddock.
After several months of trying to get something done through animal welfare organisations and getting nowhere this has been our next option and we can take our supporter numbers to the media.
Unfortunately the owner is refusing to sign over any of these animals so there is nothing Second Chance Horse Rescue can do as they do not have the legal power to seize them.
20. Return the Polo in the Park event to Golden Gate Park polo fields
Horses in California run the James. S Brady Therapeutic Riding Program for children with special needs. To hold the program every week funds are raised at our annual event 'Polo in the Park'.
From 1985 to 2008 the 'Polo in the Park' event was held at the Golden Gate Park polo fields. Unfortunately the event was temporarily moved to Bercut Equitation Field in 2009 due to the dangerous state of disrepair the polo fields were in.
Horses in California were delighted to hear last fall that the polo fields were to be restored to their former glory and the 'Polo in the Park' event would be welcomed back to its historical home.
Unfortunately we have now been informed that the polo fields cannot be used for our event this year due to a number of different reasons, including suggestions horses will damage the field making it unfit for use for soccer teams and interference with the existing soccer league schedule. We have addressed each reason with a solution and an explanation and are still refused permission.
This year, Horses in California is partnering with The Churchill Centre and Museum, London, to present the “Winston S. Churchill and James S. Brady Courage Cup.” Honorary Chairperson Ms. Celia Sandys, grand-daughter of Sir Winston S. Churchill and noted author and historian, will present the trophy to our winning polo team.
In honor of this charitable alliance, and adding to the international scope of the event, Polo in the Park will feature a group of Chinese polo players, Great Wall Polo (HK), who have been enthusiastically pursuing the game of modern polo in China.
Bringing together the elements of polo, philanthropy and the history of old allies from Europe, the U.S. and China will make Polo in the Park a truly memorable international event!
21. Ban Puppy Mills
What is a Puppy Mill?
A puppy mill is a large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Unlike responsible breeders, who place the utmost importance on producing the healthiest puppies possible, breeding at puppy mills is performed without consideration of genetic quality. This results in generations of dogs with unchecked hereditary defects.
Puppy mill puppies are typically sold to pet shops—usually through a broker, or middleman—and marketed as young as eight weeks of age. The lineage records of puppy mill dogs are often falsified.
How Are Animals Treated in Puppy Mills?
Puppy mills usually house dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, without adequate veterinary care, food, water and socialization. Puppy mill dogs do not get to experience treats, toys, exercise or basic grooming. To minimize waste clean-up, dogs are often kept in cages with wire flooring that injures their paws and legs—and it is not unusual for cages to be stacked up in columns. Breeder dogs at mills might spend their entire lives outdoors, exposed to the elements—or crammed inside filthy structures where they never get the chance to feel the sun or a gust of fresh air on their faces.
What Are Common Problems of Puppy Mill Dogs?
Epilepsy
Heart disease
Kidney disease
Musculoskeletal disorders (hip dysplasia, luxating patellas, etc.) Endocrine disorders (diabetes, hyperthyroidism)
Blood disorders (anemia, Von Willebrand disease)
Deafness
Eye problems (cataracts, glaucoma, progressive retinal atrophy, etc.) Respiratory disorders
On top of that, puppies often arrive in pet stores—and their new homes—with diseases or infirmities. These can include:
Giardia
Parvo Virus
Distemper
Upper respiratory infections
Kennel cough
Pneumonia
Mange
Fleas
Ticks
Intestinal parasites
Heart Worms
Chronic diarrhoea
22. Stop the Grand National Horse racing
We are the voices that CAN be heard, ours voices cannot be silenced, these horses depend on us, we may be the last chance they have!
Please help.
23. Determine Neglect through Blood Testing
In Nebraska many animals are left to suffer terribly because opinion is used to determine neglect. It hurts to be hungry because the body's natural response is pain. It dangerous for animals to be mal-nourished because their bodies will begin to deteriorate without proper nourishment.
Blood test can be used along with other factors to determine neglect and to help the animal in question. This is petition is intended to help rescue neglected animals.
Please take action by signing this petition and encourage others to do the same.
24. Reform of Animal Welfare Laws for Horses
I am a supporter of the group ‘Let the Horses Voice Be Heard’ who are fed up with watching and hearing daily, the ongoing neglect and abuse of horses in this state and many others. Neglected equines are going un-noticed because there is little protection for this animal within current laws.
There are far too many unwanted horses suffering neglect and abuse as result of little or no regulations for horse owners or breeders and, in many cases, money in the pocket becomes a more important factor than that of the welfare of the equine.
NSW and QLD equine welfare codes have not been updated since 1979 and 2001 respectively. NSW and QLD currently have NO CODE OF PRACTICE for equines, such as the one that they have in Tasmania and Victoria, and I strongly feel that all states to follow suit. From these codes we can adapt a nationwide standard which can then be used to heighten the level of care required for an equine and enforce tougher penalties before they gets to such a hideous neglected state, such as the ones rescue agencies and responsible owners witness daily.
The RSPCA has admitted to many people when reporting neglect, that the laws are lax and that they are limited in their power to act on reports. Often the horse/equine will be skeletal before they step in and by this time the damage is done and more often than not it will be euthanized. There are many, many owners and witnesses out there with stories of neglect and lack of action but through fear of retribution and the feeling of having their hands tied they are not sure where to turn next.
Many responsible horse/equine owners around Australia are desperate to get equine welfare changed across each state and see the implementation of standards enforceable by law.
Horses are suffering in paddocks because inexperienced and un-knowledgeable owners are not required by any kind of law to feed them APPROPRIATELY, water them APPROPRIATEY, trim their feet, do their teeth, worm them etc.
We want horse/equine re-categorized to reflect what they are: recreational animals, used for sport, companion animals used as pets. We want the RSPCA to have the power to make neglected owners responsible for their actions with on the spot fines and the ability to seize animals immediately, in the same way we witness seizure in other countries such as the United States.
We have been advised that approaching our local government could be the first step to getting change however their lack of acknowledgement means we need to reach out to Animal Health Australia to seek their assistance in supporting our cause. We are approaching this group responsible for welfare of livestock in the hope that we can support their aims and see them continue with their plan of action.
I ask you to help us in getting all the states in particular; NSW to review and modify the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 along with the QLD state to review and modify the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 and to bring horse/equine welfare in line nationwide and see the end to horse neglect and abuse as a high priority for all in the industry.
This petition has been founded to create awareness of this issue and to be a place for all the fragmented groups to gather and push for change.
Please help save these animals from lives that are less than kind and also stop the exploding numbers of horses in this sort of care and introduce a standard, plus review the horse/equine under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 and the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001.
25. Allow Derby Day parking in the Spinney
Each year Epsom Racecourse, a private company, enforces through a traffic management scheme restriction on parking in local roads. These include side roads with no direct driving access to the racecourse.
This traffic plan is rigorously enforced by the police and it means that local residents cannot park outside their own property. Those with limited off road parking have to find alternative parking for the two days of the race meeting.
One option is to use the racecourse parking service at £10-£15 per day per car and this is to park on common ground! It makes you wonder if this is to do with driving up parking revenue. Residents can no longer enjoy the Derby festival and invite family and friends to join them.
26. Say "No" to abuse of Retired Racehorses in Barbados
Excerpt from news article Barbados Today by Julia Rawlins-Bentham. 31/05/2010
Used, beaten, abused or simply left to die. That's the sum of the fate of some popular race horses across Barbados after they are retired from the track.
The latest horse to suffer such a fate was Heaven on Earth which was put to sleep at the Royal Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) two weeks ago.
Chief Inspector Wayne Norville said that Heaven on Earth was among 21 horses found in deplorable conditions across the country within the last year, and is calling on authorities and horse owners to put measures in place to stamp on the growing trend.

27. 'Track to Trail': Stop the slaughter of failed and retired race horses!
In Australia, approximately 40,000 horses are slaughtered each year for both human (overseas) and pet consumption, fertiliser and hide. Some sources actually put the figure at closer to 100,000. Of these horses it is estimated that a massive 60% are failed/retired race horses and broodmares (just used for breeding).
A lot of these horses are aged between 2 and 7 years old, a long way from their 25-30 year life expectancy. To make matters worse, instead of costing the owner the $100 to humanly put the horse down or keeping the horse until a suitable home can be found, the owner actually makes, on average, $450 profit on each horse sold to be slaughtered.
(Sources: http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; By Geraldine Chapman www.HorsePoint.com.au)
Once the horse has been sold, the horse can spend days and weeks being trucked around or held in tiny holding pens with other horses. They are exposed to extreme heat and cold, with minimal water and barely any food. Due to hunger, and stress, the horses start to fight over things such as manure, wood railings and bits of rubbish just to keep their digestive systems working (horses are designed to eat up to 22 hours a day). To a horse, this is torture.
(Sources: http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; By Geraldine Chapman www.HorsePoint.com.au)
A lot of these horses are healthy, safe and useful horses that could be re trained and re homed to be used in events, trail and pleasure riding.
Each year Australians spend millions of dollars betting on horses like the ones sold to be slaughtered. This money makes millions of dollars profit for the horse and harness racing industry (including gambling organisations).
It is our vision that a relative percentage of this profit be negotiated and donated to the temporary and long term care; and if possible the re training and re homing of horses not suitable or no longer useful for racing.

Mustangs The Real beauty Of Horses Run Free. Help save wild Mustangs.
Mustangs all over the world are being captured and tamed. Long ago all horses were wild animals. They ran free in large herds, or bands across the vast grasslands all over the world. People are capturing Mustangs and taming them. They don't want to be captured, tamed, and rode on.
Mustangs want to be free and wild. If you can't tame the heavens. How do you expect to tame Wild Mustangs. Mustangs were born to run. Sign this petition and take a stand with us.
There has been much talk of the issue of Brumby Culling on the internet since 2007, when the first culls were carried out by the Federal Government.
Also, citizens have taken it into their own hands and started culling the horses themselves.
No matter who it is done by, it is inhumane and Australia's Heritage Brumbies should be protected, not culled.
30. Urgent: Help Save Starving Horses at southeast Vernon County farm
We only have a month in a half to get all signatures. Please sign and send to friends.
Since 2008, there have been more than 30 dead horses on the property of Thomas Reardon. It is very disheartening to stand by and know these animals are dying. The horses go for long stretches with no hay or water, even in the depths of winter.
Early this month, two other horses died. One colt was laying down and suffering; it was thrashing around on the ground. The colt had to be euthanized. The State Vet made another visit to the farm and at least two other veterinarians have been there as well.
Sheriff Ron Peckman said the paperwork in the case has been delivered to the Vernon County Prosecutor's Office. But, Vernon County Prosecutor, Lynn M. Ewing III, returned it for further investigation.
