During a London concert ten days before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, lead vocalist Maines said "we don't want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States (George W. Bush) is from Texas".

The statement offended many Americans, who thought it rude and unpatriotic, and the ensuing controversy cost the band half of their concert audience attendance in the United States.

The incident negatively affected their career and led to accusations of the three women being "un-American", as well as hate mail, death threats, and the public destruction of their albums in protest.

What: Get comedy team Tim and Eric to accept The Ramones's lifetime achievement award in 2011
Why: The Grammy's been dull as dishwater these days and this being the motherfucking Ramones, they deserve a punk rock tribute of their own and who better to deliver it than today's best dada double act? Tim and Eric truly are the spirit of punk: they don't give a shit, support the outcasts of society (without them, James Quall would be playing dingy F++ rated bars and inns!) and revel in the detritus of pop culture with both love and hate.

If you truly believe in the fuck you attitude of 70s punk and the spirit of imagination, please for the sake of our dearly beloved Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and all the other dearly departed CBGBS veterans, sign this damned thing.
