2. Bring the Golden Baseball League to Medford

This is an official petition being present to the City Council of Medford, Oregon, and to the Commissioners of Jackson County, Oregon, in regards to the return of professional baseball to the Rogue Valley.

In 2000, the longtime fans and friends of the Southern Oregon Timberjacks baseball team were left heartbroken when THEIR team relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and were rechristened the Vancouver Canadians. Even more heartbreaking was when the historic Miles Field was ordered torn down by the city to make way for a new Wal-Mart SuperCenter.

Politics aside, the primary reason for this petition is the bring a new team to Medford in the form of a Golden Baseball League expansion team. In 2004, the same year that Miles Field was demolished, the league was founded and awarded teams to cities that lost Western League franchises such as Chico, California; Long Beach, California; and Yuma, Arizona; and later Reno, Nevada; and St. George, Utah. It has come to the attention of the author of this petition that Medford was on the list of possible GBL charter cities, but was unable to grant the city a team because of the lack of an appropriate stadium. Furthermore, a poll that was posted at the league website indicated that, among a list of possible cities to be awarded an expansion franchise with the league, 46% voted for Medford, Oregon, while other cities received less than 25% of the votes. That is proof that it's not only the residents and fans in Medford that want pro baseball back in the city, but fans elsewhere also believe that the city can benefit from having an independent team come in.

We are aware of the bylaws at Harry & David Field that prevent a professional team from playing at that ballpark, as was reported by the Medford Mail Tribune in April of 2004. While it can be debated for years, we feel that an alternative solution to resolve this issue is to build a new satdium in another part of Medford, or in nearby Central Point, that would accommodate ONLY a professional team. It would also accommodate a college team should either Southern Oregon University and/or Rogue Community College decide to start up a program. It will need public support, but we feel that the public would accept this alternative.

We know that this endeavor will take a good deal of support from the public, a proper group of investors and a good amount of money, but if you look into the benefits of the Golden Baseball League being in your city, you will know how everyone will benefit: the fans, the team, the players and just as important -- the community.

Should this franchise be allowed to set up operations in the city of Medford, our hope is that they can adopt the name, logo, colors, uniforms and history of the Southern Oregon Timberjacks that seemingly was left behind by the previous franchise that left for Canada and basically abandoned the legacy of the Timberjacks. The team is our identity and feel that it should live on with a new expansion team from the GBL.

We encourage you to go to the Golden Baseball League's official website at www.goldenbaseball.com and find out more about the league and the benefits that come from it. We believe that a good number of fans will attend games and the city and county CAN benefit from this league like they did with the old Northwest League team. This league is fan-friendly and community-supportive and continues to thrive since in 2004 inception. Please consider this petition and show your support for a new professional baseball team in the Rogue Valley!

4. Ban The Golden Compass from our schools

The movie's objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism.

The movie has been dumbed down to fool children and parents, in hope that they will buy his trilogy where in the end children kill God and everyone can do as they please.

5. A tribute to the classics

My petition pertains to a charitable event that could be held by the AFI and would involve celebrities duplicating famous and beautiful pictures of other celebrities from what is dubbed as the "golden age" of hollywood. And a golden age it was.

Movies were original and the plots were meaningful and moving, and hollywood was filled with a glamour and elegance, in the movies and people, that could never be duplicated. But it can be emulated, and beautifully I might add, by the celebrities of the day that owe their career to the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Katherine Hepburne, Lauren Bacall, Spencer Tracy, and Ingrid Bergman to name a few.

And I know some of you might be thinking "Why buy a remake when I could get the original?" The same reason they remake movies. To familiarize younger audiences with classics in a way they can relate, with actors and actresses they can relate to, or at least are familiar with. Not to mention the fun in seeing which legend your favorite celebrity resembles, and the charitable cause the proceeds go to.

And I'm sure the celebs would have fun paying homage to the ones those they admire and inspired them.

6. Please leave Bangalore Alone

About Bangalore

Bangalore's Rs. 22,000 crore (US$ 47.2 billion) economy makes it a major economic centre in India.[27] Indeed, Bangalore is India's fourth largest[28] and fastest growing market. [29] Bangalore's per capita income of Rs. 2.9 lakh (US$ 6,460) is the highest for any Indian city. [28] As of 2001 Bangalore's share of Rs. 1660 crore (US$ 3.7 billion) in Foreign Direct Investment was the 3rd highest for an Indian city.[30]

In the 1940s industrial visionaries such as Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya played an important role in the development of Bangalore's strong manufacturing and industrial base. Bangalore is headquarters to several public manufacturing heavy industries such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT).

In June 1972 the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established under the Department of Space and headquartered in the city. Bangalore is called the Silicon Valley of India because of the large number of Information Technology companies located in the city which contribute 38% of India's Rs. 100,000 crore (US$ 22 billion) IT and software export market.[31] Bangalore's IT industry is divided into three main "clusters" — Software Technology Parks of India, Bangalore (STPI); International Technology Park Ltd. (ITPL); and Electronics City. Infosys and Wipro, India's 2nd and 3rd largest software companies, have largest campus in Electronics City. As headquarters to 38% of global SEI-CMM Level 5 Companies, Bangalore's place in the global IT map is prominent.[32]

The growth of Information Technology has presented the city with unique challenges. Ideological clashes between the city's IT moguls, who demand an addressal of the infrastructural problems of the city, and the traditionally bureaucratic state governments, whose electoral base is primarily rural Karnataka's agricultural workers, are aplenty. In July 2004 Wipro CEO Azim Premji threatened to pull his company out of the city, stating, "We do not see the situation (state of Bangalore's infrastructure) improving in the near future".[33]

The Hosur Road, which connects Bangalore to the Electronics City, is a heavily congested road in the city. The road is also part of the National Highway (NH7) and therefore witnesses heavy truck traffic as well.

Biotechnology is a rapidly expanding field in the city. Bangalore accounts for 47% or 127 of the approximately 265 biotechnology companies in India. Biocon, headquartered in Bangalore, is the nation's leading biotechnology company and ranks 16th in the world in revenues. The Bangalore Stock Exchange is the largest in South India.

Chaning the Name

BANGALORE, India, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Kannada speakers in India's Karnataka state have renamed their capital and IT hub Bangalore as Bengalooru to carry the language's common "u" syllable.

The official name change coincides with the golden jubilee of the founding of southern Karnataka as a state.

State Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said, "Bangalore and several other cities have Kannada names but they have been anglicized in usage. It has also become a topic of debate. On this happy occasion of the golden jubilee, I am glad to announce the change in names," reports the Press Trust of India.

Ten other cities in the state also were renamed, with some of them taking on the "u" ending monikers. Mysore, the state's second-largest city, became Mysooru, Tumkur Tumakuru, Chikamagalur Chikamagalooru, and Mangalore Mangalooru.

8. Release Golden Palace on DVD

In 1992, The Golden Girls had their finale where Dorothy Zbornak got married to Blanche's Uncle. Then Blanche, Rose and Sophia moved out and worked in a badly-in debt hotel called The Golden Palace.

There have been many golden girls fans who have never had a chance to see this show, since it got cancelled in 1993, and want it released on DVD.

At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, there is a sign saying The End. That should not be so. There are too many unanswered questions. Where is the Stone of Sages? What about Vale? These need to be known by us Golden Sun freaks who have lvl. 99 Isaacs and too much time on our hands.

12. Hanson - Can't hide no more

CAN'T HIDE NO MORE

Almost six years have passed since Hanson stepped into our lives. Too few of us have been privileged to see them perform live and still there has not been a "real" European tour. We know this new album is the golden opportunity to make this tour more than just another promise in an interview. This is the time for Hanson to return the love the European fans have continued to show Hanson for the past six years. We're telling them to stop hiding, step out of the shadow and get a tour going - and don't ignore Europe this time around!

We know our work will be rewarded - us fansons have showed sceptics before that we can make a difference - and we will show them again. Sign this petition to show your support to our efforts try to get a European tour.

13. Please print a music/tablature book for Bush's album Golden State

Cherry Lane Music (the company that prints the sheet music books for
Bush and most other bands) informed Joe, a fellow Bush fan, via e-mail that they do not have plans to print a book for Bush's new album, Golden State. They didn't state why, but I am
guessing they feel not enough fans are interested in the sheet music.

We have had sheet music books for all other Bush albums, why should this
one be an exception? Please, sign the petition, and pass the link along
to all your friends and Bush fans! Thanks!
