The FDA was originally founded during a time when consumable products were not always what they seemed. During that time, before big pharmaceutics or large farms were even dreamed of, the two combined- food and drugs- was not an issue. Now, it is.
Food and drugs are two completely separate things. One is a necessity for life and the other is for health and improvement of the human body. These two things being one means less control over either part and more power to the heads of this entity. It cannot keep itself straight for all the grand amounts of information that must be kept straight. It has shown its loss of potency and power the last decade as it passed fatal drugs for us to consume and allows new breeds of plants to be promoted with little prior inspection.
It has become the lap dog of big seed companies such as Monsanto (search for bills H.R. 875, H.R. 2741, and H.R. 759) and large pharmacological companies (look up Posicor and Lipitor for more). They also spend our money trying to ban natural foods and supplements while letting unnatural drugs continue to harm and kill.
Please read and sign this petition. Our food (as it comes to us), our agriculture (the way our food is grown and produced), our medical and surgical devices (from a new scapula design to a new form of radiation treatment), and drugs should be treated as separate and unique processes and should, therefore, each have their own bureaucracy.
2. No more GM foods! (genetically modified)
[1] gm foods should be banned they hurt our bodies.
[2]why risk getting sick you might think gm foods are good but you probably dont know what youre eating.
[3]gm foods are alot of times at childrens schools kids dont need or like it and it gets worse each year so why let kids of the future eat this stuff.
The current generation of genetically modified (GM) crops poses unnecessarily risks to the health of the population and the environment.
Present knowledge is not sufficient to safely and predictably modify the plant genome, and the risks of serious side-effects far outweigh the benefits.
We urge you to stop allowing participants in your programs to feed their infants formula that contains genetically modified ingredients.
4. Label Genetically Engineered Food
May 14, 2006
My 10th grade World Affairs class is engaging in a Global Activism project. My topic is about Genetically Engineered Food.
I chose this topic because I personally wanted to know what is in the food I am eating and I want others to know as well. There is a law in progress called, "The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act." It is a law making it illegal to not label foods with genetically engineered ingredients.
Many brands that have genetically engineered products are General Mill, Nabisco, and Hunts. I am not telling you to boycott these products but to help me to encourage citizens to be aware of what they are eating and what is in their food. There is a lack of testing of these products and not enough information on their effects. A couple of effects are that they may increase the risk of allergenic reactions or may carry unpredictable toxins.
On a global scale, GE foods are benefiting investing companies and not the consumers. Some researchers believe that it will stop world hunger. This is impossible if the people who are poverty stricken cannot afford it. So why are we still continuing to make the companies richer while others are dying from hunger? 600 million people are undernourished.
All in all, I am asking that you support me by signing my petition for the passing of "The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act."
5. GM Foods should be Labelled in SA
In 1997 the GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) Act was passed in South Africa. The act lays down measures to limit the harm on the environment that can be caused by GMOs.
It establishes mechanisms to evaluate the introduction of these organisms into the market, for the reductions of associated risks and it sets up a council for GMOs.
The act also provides procedures for notification on the use of GMOs. It applies to the importation, production, releasing and distribution of all genetically modified organisms.
However, the act fails to mention food labelling, but focuses merely on the environment. The act does not make the labelling of food containing genetically modified products compulsory.
Neither does it demand international producers to indicate wheher or not the foods they are importing contain GMOs.

6. Ban GE ingredients in Kraft food
How would you feel if I told you that Kraft Foods is capitalizing on making us sick and poisoning our environment? Kraft saves money by using genetically engineered ingredients and don't even warn us about them on the packaging! These genetically engineered ingredients result in side effects such as: allergies, antibiotic resistance, harm to beneficial insects like lady bugs, the creation of "super weeds" and the use of more pesticides.
All of this is true and we have to make our voices heard before this type of behavior among food companies spreads. Kraft's products such as Boca Burgers, Snackwell's crackers, Lunchables, Tombstone Pizza, Post Cereal and Stovetop Stuffing have all tested positive for genetically engineered ingredients and they are using us as and our environment to experiment with.
Hundreds of North Americans reported suffering from allergic reactions after eating Kraft and other products containing GE corn. However, Kraft continues to use genetically engineered ingredients in many of its products in North America.
Did you know that Kraft has pulled it's genetically engineered ingredients from products in Europe? Why you ask? Because of consumer pressure not to use GE ingredients! By removing these ingredients from Europe, Kraft proved that it can be done anywhere else in the world.
Let's send a message to Jim Pattison to not stock Kraft because we will not buy products containing GE ingredients. By doing so, we can ensure the protection of our health and conservation of Mother Nature.
7. Stop Genetic Modification of pets!
www.fluorescentpets.com is an inhuman site! It is a site that is showing people how to genetically modify pets! It is a crule site! Whether it is a hoax or not it still shows pictures of genetically modified pets and tells people how to buy them! It is cruel and it dosen't have any warnings for younger people who may come across this site! PLEASE sign this petition
8. Label Genetically Engineered Foods in the USA
Genetically Engineered foods could potentially be hazardous to our health and are already proven harmful to the environment.
9. A 5 Year Freeze on Genetic Engineering
The Tablelands GeneEthics Network formed 18 months ago with the aim of freezing the growth of gene modified crops across the Atherton Tablelands region of North Queensland for a period of 5 years.
In this time a moratorium can allow for proper investigation of the affects of Gene Modified crops in relation to health, environment & industry.
A forum held in Atherton on the 26 March 2001 drew an audience of close to 500 residents to listen to speakers from the Organic farming association, Queensland DPI, Monsanto & Consumer food network.
A questionnaire on the night showed that 89% of attendees agreed to a 5 year moratorium on the Atherton Tablelands.
10. Genetically Modified Food Labelling
Genetically modified foods are still an unknown quantiy. New allergens could be created inadvertently, and known allergens could be transferred from traditional foods into genetically modified variants. For example, when a gene from the brazil nut was introduced into soybeans, it turned out that people allergic to brazil nuts were also allergic to the soybean.
Growing GM crops on a large scale may have implications for biodiversity, the balance of nature, wildlife and the environment. In August 1999, Australia's state and federal health ministers had agreed that all foods, food additives and processing aids produced using gene technology would be labelled. But in response to US government and industry pressure on John Howard this has been watered down so that; refined GM foods, food additives, processing aids and restaurant meals will all be unlabelled; products accidentally polluted with up to 1% GM food are exempt too.
Many Australians do not want to expose themselves to genetically modified food. It is clearly their choice. For this reason it is important that food manufacturers are made to state clearly if their product contains ANY genetically modified material or resulting product. Some of the money raised from the advertising revenue on this petition will go to the Gene Ethics Appeal of the Australian Conservation Foundation.
