1. Help Save Rowland Elementary School
By now, we have all heard the distressing news of Rowland Elementary School being added to the list of possible school closings, due to a $115 million deficit in the DeKalb County School System.
At this time we are asking our Rowland community to come together to save Rowland. The community depends on this school to be there for the parents and our main focus-the children. For the past 43 years Rowland has provided quality education to our students, teachers that go beyond the point of duty, resource programs for parents, quality care and training for our special needs children cultural events to join for our Rowland family and the community together, among many other services our school has to offer.
We cannot allow for this to happen to our children and even future attendees of this area. Please join us in fighting for Rowland. Our children are worth this fight; your child’s education journey starts here. Everyday here at Rowland we are laying the foundation for intelligence, dependability, honesty, citizenship, independence, self-esteem, and so many character and educational traits they will need not just for learning, but for life.
We as parents are not happy with closing down Rowland because of many different reasons. To name a few, where will our children be forced to attend school, how close will the new school be, are we as parents comfortable with the distance the children will have to ride the bus to school? Also, what will happen to our physical school building if left unattended? What will the community become of then?
2. Ban punishment, rationing and denial of bathroom use in schools
District 87 has no restroom policy. It is left up to the teacher's discretion and at Irving Elementary that equates to, if you need to use the restroom frequently or when it is inconvenient you will receive a disciplinary mark equal to if you hit, bite, name call, or destroy property. I have contacted several teachers through out the years and this remains the same. I contacted the principal this year and yet it remains the same.
OSHA protects an adult right to use the restroom at anytime yet it is up to us to protect this right for our children.
Some might say just hold it is good practice as to not interrupt the class learning environment. To that I ask you to remember sitting at a desk doing the potty dance. Did you recall anything the teacher said? Were other student busy giggling at you instead of listening to the teacher?

3. Secondary School Central Bedford Town
Building a thriving secondary school for our thriving community.
A new secondary school for Bedford Town:
o do you want your 11 year old to be able to walk or cycle to school?
o do you want your child to be able to move through school with their friends?
o do you your child to have easy access to after school activities?
o do you want improved local facilities that the whole community can use?
Do you want a secondary school that’s at the heart of our local community?
Bedford Borough Council’s Proposal for the future organisation of schools in Bedford Borough does not include a Secondary school for the centre of Bedford Town – we think it should!
4. Economic Credit Management as a subject in all Schools
I would like to start a petition for our teenagers in High School. The petition will be about our Credit in the United States of America.
Through these hard economic times, I believe it is important for every one to know about how and why our credit effects who we are as people. I believe all students in school should be taught how to manage, not only there money, but their credit as well!
It is important for our youth to understand how credit will effect the rest our lives and the impact on our lives.
We the undersigned DEMAND that our government show the ultimate support for our TROOPS by bringing them HOME.
6. James Street sidewalks aren't fit to walk on
James Street is a small street located in Whitney Pier. There is a senior home located on the corner of Griffin and James Street. The sidewalk is crumbling and making it very dangerous for our seniors to walk on.
The seniors that live on this street all walk or have motorized wheelchairs. James Street has a post office and bus route at the end of the street. The sidewalks are not only beneficial to our neighborhoods many children travelling back and forth to the local elementary school; but necessary for our seniors safety when travelling to and from the doctors, pharmacy etc.
7. Playground for our children in Salina
Salina is a small town in Westmoreland County that consists of a school, a post office, a fire departmnent, and a local bar.
This petition is to act on getting a playground in our area for the children of Salina.
The park that is there now is unmaintained and the equipment is unsafe for anyone in the community.
8. Birchwood Park Neighborhood Watch
I, Brian Webster and my wife, Anita are new homeowners on Walnut Way having relocated here in early March of this year. Recent crime statistics for our neighborhood have alarmed me as a new resident and rescent victims to a daytime Burgalary on August 9th.
I wish to survey interest and motivation to join with me and my wife to create our own neighborhood watch and proactively extinguish this growing problem in our neighborhood.

10. Petition for Midyear Reports at PCPS
June 13, 2006
For the second year in a row, parents at Point Clare Public School will NOT be receiving a midyear report on their child's progress.
The only written report being offered to the parent community is the end of year report.
The Department of Education's Policy entitled "Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12" states that: Schools will provide parents/carers with a written report on their child's learning at least twice per year. The components of the written report will meet the Policy Standards. (section 1.3.3).
Written reports are valuable tools for parents to gauge how their child is performing, and to highlight any issues that their child is having within the classroom environment. For parents who work out of the home full time and who are unable to attend class interviews, a written report can be the first indication of any problem their child is having.
It is unacceptable to make this decision without informing the parent community and without asking for our input.
In accordance with this, we would like to ask you to sign this petition, if you would like to have a midyear written report for your child.
11. Support Oil Drilling in ANWR
May 24, 2006
Energy, economy & national security go hand-in-hand. ANWR represents nation's best geologic prospects for major new onshore oil discoveries, and only the 1.5 million acre (8 percent) on the northern coast of ANWR is being considered for development.
The remaining 17.5 million acres (92 percent) of ANWR will remain permanently closed to any kind of development. If oil is discovered, less than 2,000 acres of the Coastal Plain would actually be affected - or less than half of one percent.
Please take a moment to help secure our nation's energy independence by signing our petition. When you are finished, visit us on our website, http://action.anwr.org/.
12. Do not BAN Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in EU
May 6, 2006
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have been fighting for Tamils, for Freedom, for a HOMELAND (Tamil Eelam) for very long time. Now, they are close to achiveing their goal.
We, Tamils from around the world, must show our support to the heroes that are sacrificing their lives for our good.
13. Petition of Impeachment to KYF
The petition is a petition to have our board members sign to impeach the current president of our league John Carpenter. He is unable to lead our league in the direction it needs to go in order to get ready for our season. He continues to focus on his vendettas against certain members of our board.
14. Fight for our rights, for fair and justified prices for our food!!
After the outrageous price increase on cans, the start of this boycott campaign began with posters and the introduction of the can man.
This is to create a Neighbourhood watch program for our community and to keep our children safe.
We are trying to get our community to start a Neighborhood Watch Program for the protection of all the children that come into our area.

18. SAY "NO" to SEWER WATER IN THE STEINHATCHEE RIVER !!!
The D.E.R. is considering a permit to Zaney foods Inc. to dump treated liquids from motel and restaurant into the Steinhatchee river. Solids to be hauled away. I believe this to be harmful for our River, and our Community. If you agree please write the D.E.R., or sign this petiton.
In the past years we had 5 minutes in between classes to get our books and go to our next class. This year we have 3 minutes. They expect us to carry our books for the next class with us plus the books we have for our class before. We cant put our books in our bags because we have to keep them in our locker.
