1. Legalise fireworks in Australia

Fireworks are legal in both the USA and the UK, but are illegal here in Australia. The main reasons for the illegalisation of fireworks are because of injuries and frightened animals (and owners that care about nothing but their pets).

Animals (mainly dogs) that are affected by the fireworks shouldn't prevent the use of fireworks, as they generally lessen one's sleep much more than fireworks. Why should annoyed pets and owners ruin a tradition? Something that makes days like New Year's Eve special? Injuries caused by fireworks are not because of malfunctions or pure explosive force, but because of short fuses or bad design and lack of knowledge.

Because of the banning of fireworks, there are no laws regarding the design of the products. This greatly affects the safety of the fireworks as they're not designed for the average user, instead only for a pyrotechnician. Another thing worth noting is the lack of knowledge that some users may possess. Because nothing about fireworks is taught to the public, some people may not know how to use them properly, and the safety measures that they must take. This all leads to more injuries and deaths, and less freedom and fun.

Please legalise fireworks for a 'win-win' result.

2. Stop the abuse of fireworks! legal and illegal!

In Trinidad and Tobago, the abuse of fireworks on special occasions such as Divali and New Years Day is becoming more and more of a menace.

Impromptu surveying of citizens both over the internet and face to face show that the ill effects of abuse of not just illegal fireworks such as "scratchbombs" but also legally available fireworks over an extended period of hours not just affects human beings negatively, but also causes significant ill effects to animals.

Listed among the complaints given by citizens are: increased anxiety attacks/ ill effects to those suffering from nervous disorders, increased number of accidental and on occasion, even intentional burns caused by the setting off of fireworks in close contact to human beings and animals. increased damage to homes and other places of abodes caused by setting off of fireworks in close proximity to such establishments, death of animals due to heart attacks caused by extensive fright due to the loud noise of activated fireworks.

These complaints were given on a widescale and were not limited to any one geographical area.

5. An Island based company should be doing the Charlottetown fireworks for Canada day

In the last 10 years the city of Charlottetown has hired an out of province firework company to do the capital region shows for Canada day and its winter festival. That company has taken work from an island based and owned company who employs islanders trained and certified by ERD canada to do display fireworks.

Do you think PEI should have an island based company doing its fireworks at least once so that it can keep money in PEI and buy local rather then an out of province the company?

PEI Pyro FX has a top notch record in both safety and service, but yet has never been given opportunity to do a pro show in the capital region.

6. Save the Canada Day Fireworks at Ontario Place!

For many years, Ontario Place has hosted a fantastic display of fireworks over Lake Ontario to celebrate Canada Day.

This year, 2012, the fireworks display has been cancelled.

We would like to see the fireworks display reinstated at Ontario Place so that we do not lose the celebratory nature of this significant cultural event.

7. Fireworks Ban for the general public (Fireworks kept for display purpose only)

We are asking for a ban on the selling of fireworks to the public and that they are only sold for public displays. The reason being is that fireworks are no longer kept to just bonfire night. It starts as soon as they go on sale which is usually late September early October.

This signals months of misery for animals and people. There are elderly people who are scared stiff when the loud bangs go off. I have also heard stories of elderly people who have served in the wars ( younger ones too ) and the sound of fireworks makes them think they are back in the war. This does untold damage to them. On a personal note, I have sat and watched my dog get into such a state due to fireworks going off all around, that he has had to be sedated.

As stated above, this goes on for months and animals can't keep being sedated. Youngsters also think it's fun to buy fireworks then attach them to animals, usually cats, then setting them off. There are lots of reasons to ban sales to the public.

9. Ban Loud Pyrotechnics when Sunny is performing

Pyrotechnics directly affect Lee Soon Kyu aka Sunny's performance and Girls' Generation's performances. Whenever fireworks are set off near Sunny, it causes probable emotional stress & scarring. The loud sounds given off by pyrotechnics have consistently proven hurtful towards Sunny time after time.

Evidence can be brought forth by viewing any number of video's and/or photo's whenever fireworks are set off within the hearing distance of Sunny at Girls' Generation event's. Cause's possibly stemming from her early childhood living in Kuwait, tying bombs to the loud explosions that pyrotechnics make.

11. Penalise brutal attack on sheep

Three students have been arrested for an attack on a sheep that the local SPCA described as "one of the worst animal cruelty cases it had seen" - the attackers blew the sheep's jaw off with fireworks, and attempted to set the sheep alight after kicking and opening up the sheep's stomach.

Please see link below for complete news article:-

Whilst I realise the arrested are innocent before being proved guilty, I call on the New Zealand Ministry of Justice to impose the maximum sentence on anyone proven guilty whom served the maximum injustice on this animal.

I would invite you all to write directly to the New Zealand Ministry of Justice, Chief Justice at reception@justice.govt.nz

Good luck and thank you.

12. Keep Fireworks in Tasmania

Workplace Standards Tasmania has proposed new regulations that will effectively ban the sale of fireworks in Tasmania. There is no real reason why this should happen.

Tassie has an outstanding track record when it come to the safe and responsible use of fireworks. It would be a sad end to a great tradition.

Help keep fireworks in tassie.

14. Ban all fireworks unless for organised displays

I live on a housing estate which has problems anyway. We have been in the last few months terrorised with young people(13-19yrs) throwing fireworks.

Where they obtain these from who knows, but with the country under threat like nit is it makes you wonder. It terrorises old people, animals and other residents. Our community police only work till 11-00pm, and all these incidents happen after this. If you phone the police by the time they get there they have escaped in this getto we live in. They should be made illegal unless for organised displays.

November is drawing nearer and it is terrifying. These fireworks are not only frightening they are dangerous and can cause, fire, mutilation and death.

15. Change North Carolina Firework Laws

Fireworks have been a part of the 4th of july celebrations for a long time in my life and these laws banning all explosive, bottle rockets candles etc... just doesn't make sence to me, it just seems wrong that the gov'nt is taking away our rights to freedom of expression, and celebrating our holiday (ironically the holiday that is celebrating our freedom) put a warning sticker on the fireworks and let people do what they want, don't take peoples freedom away just because some people are careless, they deserve what they get.

17. Fireworks Legislation Reform

With constant increases in the rate of accidents caused by fireworks I would like to start this petition to get the Government to increase the age limit for buying fireworks to the age of 21.

Also, I am unable to understand why fireworks have to be on sale for 3 weeks before they are supposed to be let off.

Therefore I would like to add this point to the petition by asking for the law to be changed, so that fireworks are not allowed to be sold so far in advance.

18. Enforce stronger safety procedures for Fireworks Spectacular / Jake's Fireworks

July 9, 2006

Fireworks Spectacular, also known as Jakes Fireworks is a very unsafe environment for workers, surrounding businesses and homes.

Three workers were killed due to Thursday August 18, 2005 explosion at Fireworks Spectacular in Crestline, Kansas. 10 months and 13 days after the first incident another man from the same company was injured in Independence, Kansas.

Accidents happen, but do they happen twice? Fireworks Spectacular has harmed several lives and safety guidelines should be strictly enforced before more workers are injured or killed.

Please sign this petition if you agree Fireworks Spectacular's safety practices should be reviewed and strictly enforced by proper authorities.

20. BAN FIREWORKS FROM PUBLIC SALE

Every year, fireworks go on sale mid October. IT is now law that fireworks are NOT to be let off after 11pm.

This is impossible to police, and this year I have endured fireworks in my street after midnight. Fireworks are now let off from mid October until mid November. On the 5th November, all animal owners take extreme precautions to protect their animals from the devastating effects fireworks can have. However, all undersigned animal owners and/or parents feel fireworks are a menace and a danger and should be experienced only at a PUBLIC ORGANISED DISPLAY.

There is no place for them in gardens and streets.

23. Legalize Fireworks In Massachusetts

Consumer fireworks are fun and exciting to use. We the people of Massachusetts see no reason to ban all consumer firework use. There are more accidents caused by drunk drivers then of firework users and still alcohol is sold to consumers even on Sundays now. Cigarettes cause cancer and many other illnesses. They can also cause fires and still they allow them to be sold. Many other states that allow fireworks, do not have as many injuries. Why? Because the people of those states aren't doing them illegally and they are not in a hurry to light them before local law enforcement arrive, causing less injury and less fires. Also, those states that allow fireworks use, have certain age requirements like that of tobacco, firearms, and alcohol.

We should have the right to use fireworks for Fourth of July, parties, for fun, weddings and many other occasions. There should be a certain age requirement like 21 would be the proper age to purchase and use fireworks. There also should be permits that can be obtained for use of consumer fireworks and special locations where they can be ignited. Or if the person has enough land they should be able to ignite them on that property if they own it, if it is inspected by local Fire Dept, and obtain a permit from the Local Fire Dept.

Fire arms are legal in this state and many murders and injuries occur and still guns are sold to the public with appropriate licenses. If fireworks were legal in this state there could be a certain tax on them making more money for the state and money that could be used for grants or other appropriate uses. We, as taxpayers of Massachusetts, should have the right to sell, purchase and use fireworks in the state of Massachusetts.

Little by little new laws are coming out trying to control the way we want to live our lives. We the people of this state have the right to choose our government and all elected officials that govern our state and we will put those in power who are for us, and remove those in power who are against us. This petition will be emailed to every Senator and Representative in Massachusetts.

If you are 18 yrs or older live in Massachusetts , and agree that appropriate fireworks should be made legal to buy, sell, and use please sign my petition and write to your local Senators and Representatives for legalization of Fireworks Thank you.

24. Tighter Firework Controls - UK.

Fireworks are the cause of severe distress and injury to both people, children and animals every year in the UK. Fireworks can be let off at anytime of the year. Many are very large and do maim or kill... especially younger children who are at great risk! Tighter legislation is needed to protect the public and our children and animals from the horrendous injuries we witness every year in the UK.

Please support our MP, Mr Paul Truswell, in obtaining a Bill that will add to our existing laws to protect the public, or children and animals by the use of tighter controls on the sale and use of explosives/fireworks to the public.

Thank you all.
