1. Safe the lives of unprotected children

I am hoping to find support to help my children, and myself being able to start a new life in Australia. We have been here 8 months having moved from the UK where we were subjected to arson attacks and stalking/ harassment, and the police would not protect us, despite witnesses etc.

In the end we were accused of 'doing this ourselves' and the police tried to get the children taken out of a loving family and put into care? All they need is to feel safe, and since being in Australia, they have, and don't want to go back, as they are scared of the 'child catchers' (social services) as they heard the lies being told! We don't want to live off the state, we want a new life, and to achieve our goals. My baby, born a month ago, here in Canberra, has the only chance of a life without violence, and we need help please?

2. Facebook: Include "Partner" Family Member and "In a Committed Relationship"

Facebook does not allow Users to indicate they are in a Committed Relationship. They do, however, allow Users to indicate they are in a Casual Relationship or in an Open Relationship.

Facebook removed the ability to designate a Family Member as a "Partner". They used to allow this, and should allow it, as not all relationships are as casual as "in a relationship" implies.

It is wrong of Facebook to allow the designation of "In an Open Relationship" but not to recognize committed, though non-legal, partnerships. They even go so far as to distinguish "Cousin (male)" from "Cousin (female)", yet they can't include an option for Partner.

3. Unite A Family

I was brought up by my Grandmother and my father. I have grown up knowing what it is like to live without both parents by my side.

You grow up and decide that what ever happens you will make sure that you will do the best for your children and they will grow up with everything you did not have whilst growing up. So now the time has come where i give my beautiful daughter , who is 4, everything i was deprived of.

Back in 2008 i married Zahras dad, an amazing man who gave me hope that there are decent people out there in this world. He has supported me through everything. After i fell pregnant with our child i came back to the UK inorder to recieve better treatment and settle down inorder to sponsor my husband. In august 2008 a new law was passed. Both sponsors must be aged 21. I was gutted, I had to wait for 2 years before I could apply.

After waiting 2 years a new law had passed... The English Language Test. I just thought 'what is happening'. I felt i was just catching up with each new law. Last year the age limit has gone back to 18. Hearing this made me so angry, they made me wait 2 years for nothing if that law had not passed my husband would be here supporting me through life and most of all watch his daughter grow up.

My husband is losing out on watching his daughter grow up. It has been 5 years now and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!! As British born citizens it is my human right that I live a normal life with my husband and it is my daughters human right to have access to her father.

4. We All Are ONE!

When you look at all of the problems facing the world today--environmental exploitation, animal cruelty, hunger, poverty, greed, war, and many more--the fundamental problem can be seen as a fragmented mindset, one which perceives everything else as something separate from the self.

In the words of noted quantum physicist Dr. Amit Goswami:

"The ultimate disease--the root disease--is the illusory thinking that we are separate from the Whole. To heal the disease is to realize that we are Whole, that the separation is but an illusion."

Thus, the goal of this petition is to heal the fragmented mentality through promoting an ethical system based on the most fundamental, universal, unifying belief in the world: that everything emanates from One, Supremely Good and Beautiful Source, and, therefore, everything is essentially One.

This simple, universal belief has resounding ethical implications (e.g. we should treat all things with love, compassion, and respect), healing the world on a fundamental level.

This belief is so universal and so powerful, it is high time it receives its due honor and support.

So, please, take a stand with us and declare: We all are One!

5. Free School Meals for low income families

It is heart breaking hearing parents say that they do not send their kids to school because they have no money to give them for lunch or no food for a packed lunch.

It's saddening that children from low income families or single parents are not getting the education they need because there is no money for lunch.

I think the government should introduce Free School Lunches for children that do come from low income families and or single parents.

Children have the right the learn, they are our future. Don't we want children to be able to go to school and not grow hungry. They need their lunches to help them get through the day, and concentrate on their work. For some children that may be the only meal they have that day.

Better prepared children, means better test scores, brighter future for the children and the Australian society.

In the UK there is a system put in place, that if the child comes from a low income families and or single parents, that are entitled to any government support, they get free school meals.

Doesn't it make sense that the Australian government implements a similar system.

Please help us get the signatures for this issue to be take to the parliament, then hopefully we can help out those children that really do need it.

6. Take the focus off of standardized tests in schools, and replace it with real world education

Don't you think it's unfair that our graduating from High School depends on one stupid test? Ask any teacher at your school or the teachers union, and they will agree.

Did you know that President Obama is attempting to change our education system and add even more required and mandatory tests to graduate school? Out of 28 developing countries, American students rank 20th in graduation rates. We as students, and the future leaders of this country need a change in our education system. I have written a petition on the White House website asking the Obama administration and White House staff to review our current education system.

I believe that we the students shouldn't be taught based on our standardized tests, but on how to succeed in the adult world, and know how to be prepared for our futures after school. We need to teach our children while growing up, the important things in life that they will need to know. The key to solving the rest of America's problems, lies in our education. This petition needs 25,000 signatures to be reviewed by White House staff if it reaches 25,000 by February 9th 2013.

Thank you for your time, and spreading the word about this petition would be very much appreciated!

7. Fair Immigration Laws for Family Unity

My name is Dionne Dupre D'mello. I am a United States born citizen, married to an Indian national. My husband is ineligible to receive a visa to the U.S. and is banned from re-entering the U.S. for the rest of his life.

What sort of horrible crimes must have he committed to receive such a harsh punishment? NONE. His only transgression is the misuse/overstay of his U.S. issued non-immigrant visa- a simple civil offense. My husband has been away from me, our family and our home for over 2 years now.

Hundreds of thousands of other U.S. citizen spouses, parents and innocent children also suffer the same forced separation of family due to their loved one's ban for non-criminal immigration violations. These bans, anywhere from three years to a lifetime, are disproportionate to the violations they punish. I don't dispute that some punishment may be in order, but the current bans are cruel and UNJUST. Regardless of your stance on immigration in general, can you sincerely say that this isn't so? Should I really have to choose between living in The United States with my son and my entire family or living thousands of miles away with to be with my husband?

Please join me in support of fair laws and family unity!

8. HELP AMERICA STAY SAFE: Respect The Second Amendment

A SAFER SOCIETY WITH GUNS
Statistics make a compelling case for gun ownership
By Jeff Jacoby | GLOBE COLUMNIST MARCH 21, 2012

THE COLORADO Supreme Court...when it ruled unanimously this month that the University of Colorado’s campus gun ban violated a 2003 state law that entitles residents with permits to carry concealed weapons.

While the University of Colorado spent much of the past decade resisting the state’s concealed-carry law, Colorado State University complied with it. If the gun controllers are right, Colorado State should have seen a surge in crime, while its gun-banning sister institution should have been an Eden of security and lawfulness. That’s not what happened...“crime at the University of Colorado has risen 35 percent since 2004, while crime at Colorado State University has dropped 60 percent in the same time frame.”

Roughly 1 of every 4 Americans reports keeping a gun to protect themselves or their homes. Having a gun makes many people — for good reason — feel safer.

Taken from The News-Dispatch, Michigan City, Indiana
CRIMINALS DON'T OBEY GUN LAWS; Jack Allgood from Michigan City High School wrote a column Tuesday titled "Guns Should Be Outlawed in U.S." I am afraid he needs some education (as opposed to indoctrination) on that subject.

The basic premise that outlawing guns will resolve violent crime is simply wrong. Why not just outlaw violent crime? The answer is the same - it is because criminals do not obey laws. They will not turn in their guns to assist the nation in becoming gun-free. Gun control laws only result in the disarming of the law-abiding public, taking away their right to defend themselves - while the criminals ignore the gun laws along with all others.

Mr. Allgood argues that the circumstances of "the right to bear arms" were different when the Bill of Rights was first written. Perhaps. But at that same time, nobody knew freedom of speech would ever pertain to photocopy machines, television or the Internet. Shall we also rein in the right of free speech on those same grounds, because the circumstances have changed from the 1700s?

It is true that gun crime was much less of a problem in the distant past. However, back then there were almost no gun control laws, either. In fact, a child could buy a handgun through a Sears catalog just by sending in an order blank and the money. The problem is not that there are more guns today, it is that there are more criminals. Please don't think that if you take away a criminal's gun, he will suddenly turn into a gentle law-abiding citizen, watering his flowers and waving "hello" to you as you pass by in safety. Guns do not make people into criminals. Taking away guns does not turn criminals into lawful citizens either.

Washington, D.C., has some of the strictest gun laws, yet amazingly the criminals do not obey them - and their gun violence rate is three times the national average. Vermont has very few gun laws - any 18-year-old can carry a concealed handgun and no permit is needed - and it is a much safer place to live. It's not the guns, it's the people.

Mr. Allgood, we would like very much to live in a safer society. However, your idea won't work, and I am not prepared to have my rights thrown away to try for the hundredth time something that does not work and has been proven not to work. In Nazi Germany the public was disarmed and only the authorities had guns. That is a common first step among dictators and it is utterly foolish to suggest that we do the same here in America. As Benjamin Franklin said, "He who gives up freedom for security deserves neither."

The U.S. Supreme Court has recently ruled that the Second Amendment means what it says, and we can be thankful for that.

The Fort Worth Stockyards is home to many traditions that make it a trademark for Texas pride and historical enthusiasm. It has stood the test of time, survived many disasters both natural and man-made.

For over twenty years one tradition has stood unopposed until today, the legendary Cowtown Shootout featuring three individuals, a law man, and two criminals, both armed with the iconic weapons of the western age; the revolver. During an extensive and immersive dialogue that attracts both regulars and newcomers alike, the two sides simulate an almost-real experience that explodes into a shootout that ends in the demise of two outlaws.

The Kilby is registered with the state for National Historical places and registered with the city of High Point as a Historical site. This hotel was one of the first hotels built by African Americans and owned by African Americans. At the present time the building is vacant and the McELrath family (owners) are wanting to restore the Hotel but keep it with in the family.

14. Implement Extended Family Visits in Tennessee Prisons

The State of Tennessee does not offer inmates a proper way to maintain a family bond while they are incarcerated. Although the visitation rules vary for each prison, a vast majority of visitations are extremely strict in nature and short in duration.

They involve very minimal touching and can be consumed of interruptions. The rigid settings of the visitations are inadequate and insufficient at sustaining the family bond. The impact and despair of having a close family member incarcerated can diminish the support and love both the inmate and their family deserve.

The barrier created by your loved one being trapped and surrounded by cinder block walls and barb wire can be devastating. Ultimately, it can create the feeling of being nonexistent and hopeless. Even the strongest family bond can evaporate without the loving touch of your family, which is engrained in our human nature.

A diminished bond can end with harsh consequences on the inmate. Once they are released they may no longer have family to provide them a temporary home while they are able to build a foundation. They may become estranged from their children due to years or even decades of little contact. They are likely to even become bitter toward society as a whole.

A significant problem affecting tax payers, the State, and inmates is the risk of recidivism as a result of the inmate becoming institutionalized. This risk and enormous cost can be lowered by reinforcing family ties. Extended family visits can help maintain a way to insure the sanctity of marriage. If the inmate has children, this can provide loving support the child so desperately needs. Without providing extended family visits, inmates may never have the chance to form the sacred bond with their children that is so crucial to the span of life and future generations. I believe extended family visits can drastically reduce violence in prison, reinforce the rehabilitation of inmates through loving nurture, and provide the safety and security for families.

15. Support a People's Bank

Case for a People’s Bank.

The Commonwealth Bank was a successful government owned bank with many remarkable achievements over most of the 20th century while it was the ‘People’s Bank’. Among other things Australians saw it as insurance against exploitation by private banks.

The privatisation of the Commonwealth Bank in the 1990’s was a financial disaster for Australia. It came about in the shadow of government deceit, where the people were told that this was to be the last government sale of public assets.

Since deregulation, banks have enjoyed obscene profits and paid their executives multi-million dollar salaries and bonuses. The dark side of the coin shows they have closed branches, cut services, colluded and exploited legally and illegally their collective monopoly of power whenever possible.

This failed deregulation led to all state government banks collapsing and paved the way for a wave of further deregulation and privatization which can exploit the consumer.

The results are being felt by many Australian families who are having difficulties managing budgets such as their privatised utility bills.

Adding to their financial woes is they’re being slugged with an increasing range of bank fees and charges for services, most of which were given free by the original Commonwealth Bank.

There is a strong case to reverse this negative flow, starting with the banks. Options are to nationalise all banks, or create a government owned People’s Bank based on the original Commonwealth Bank model.

Australia’s federal and state governments, general public, and small and large business sectors all stand to gain from a People’s Bank.

For example, the private banks will have to fall in line with the policies and ethics of the People’s Bank. This means less profit for the private banks and more money in your pocket.

The Commonwealth Bank model is cited in overseas publications as a system with enormous merit to both public and private sectors.

We have an opportunity to again demonstrate to the world a banking system that can bring considerable benefits to the federal government and its people.

If you believe we need a People’s Bank, sign the petition and forward it to your family and friends to sign too.

16. Give Nathan Duszynski a job for his family

Today is a sad day for the city of Holland, Michigan, particularly for one resident who was trying to help out his family survive. That family-dedicated resident is none other than 13-year-old Nathan Duszynski.

The reason why this petition was made for him is because he and his family are in a shelter after being denied from selling hot dogs from a mobile stand. You see, Nathan was trying to help his family to survive in Holland, Michigan because his mother and father are disabled. He signed up for his own food cart to earn some money. But the moment he started to sell at a local sporting goods store, City Hall shut it down. Now they have two different homes to cope with the parents' different disabilities.

The point is they shut him down because he was not connected to any business, but it was still unfair for him and his family. So, this petition is a rallying cry for signers, not just from Holland, Michigan, but from the entire United States and the world as a whole, to support him in on of these ways:

a) Convince at least one of the brick and mortar businesses to train him for a job within their premises.

b) Start a Kickstarter fundraiser for Nathan Duszynski to help him train to be a businessman and run a great business.

c) Convince City Hall to let him sell his hot dogs in a store and even hire others in hot dogs carts to spread the goods.

If everyone helps out Nathan to earn money legally, we will be a better world of people for all to see.

17. Extend Discretionary Leave to Remain for Glendon Llewellyn Lloyd

We came to the UK from Australia for a family holiday in July 2004. I fell in love with UK and decided I wanted to stay (many asked WHY !!)

My loving wife and children Eddie, Ben and Lucy are English, I am Australian (a Commonwealth county)
I made the mistake of not lodging a formal application to stay immediately I fell in love (but then who says I love you straight away!) although I had discussed with the UKBA my desire to stay and how to best go about this - I was born under a British and Colonies passport in Rhodesia (aka Zimbabwe). Following lengthy discussions I lodged an acceptable application in July 2006.

3 years of being stateless (unable to work and support my family, paid for and missed 3 family holidays) I was finally granted Discretionary Leave to Remain in July 2009.

I willingly give (and love) the 10-12 hours a week I give to my local community coaching youth rugby and football teams and acting as business manager for a local rugby club. My businesses export on behalf of the UK and pay £10's of £1,000's in VAT.

Learned my lesson and lodged my extension to remain for the next 3 years within specific, stipulated guidelines on the 15th June 2012.

Booked (and paid for) what will be our first holiday in years and am now fighting to get my visa ratified in time to allow me to go with my family.

They are telling me to wait 6 months before even contacting them to discuss it........?

Please help me!

Cheers,

Glendon

22. Friends and Supporters of Equine City

I have lived in Clairmont most of my life and the sudden news of changes at Equine City saddens me. My granddaughter who suffers from Tourettes plus other disabilities takes riding lessons at Equine City and the staff is wonderful with the children.

With having a child with Tourettes it’s hard to find a place that will even accept her in a program. My granddaughter looks forward to each lesson and the new things she will learn.

As friends of Equine City, our goal is to keep all animal programs up and running. Equine City has so many things to offer such as family fun days on Sundays, riding programs even for children with Tourettes, horse riding instruction for any level and great birthday parties complete with hay, wagon or sleigh and pony rides, a petting zoo, summer riding camps, field trips and bonfires for student-adult groups.

The County of Grande Prairie is now trying to take all of this away because of a permit issue which arose due to a neighbor’s complaint! Equine City has been shut down for the family fun days, the pony birthdays parties and school field trips effective immediately and all booked events have to be cancelled now because the permit they hold is apparently not satisfactory.

We feel that this is unfair and are petitioning the closing of these programs. Please help us in our fight to keep Equine City’s programs open to the public.

Thanks to all of you in advance for your support in keeping this great place open to the public.

25. Support the Kim Family's Permanent Residency in Canada

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has rejected the Kim family’s application for permanent residency, and stated that the family must leave Canada because Taehoon (the youngest son)'s autism represents a potential burden on social and health care. We believe this decision is groundless, since Taehoon’s condition does not require any medical care from the government.

If the family were sent back to South Korea, Taehoon may face intolerance and discrimination on account of his disability. He will have difficulty adjusting to the Korean society and school system, because he grew up in Canada since he was 3 years old. Prejudices against people with disabilities will likely mean greater limitations and fewer opportunities for Taehoon in South Korea.

The Kim family has been living in Hamilton, Canada, since 2003. Mr. Sungsoo Kim is an IT Help Desk Administrator at Pattison Outdoors, Canada’s largest outdoor advertising company. Together with his wife, Sunmi Kim, he is an active member of his community, having been serving as a committee member, a youth leader, and a Sunday school principal at St. Peter Yu Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton.

Mr. and Mrs. Kim have a daughter named Bookyung (Lisa) - a high-achiever in Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School, and a 12-year-old son named Taehoon who has been diagnosed with autism. He is currently attending St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Elementary School, and has made tremendous progress since coming to Canada, adjusting very well to his new home and enjoying his school life.

27. BARCO Dog Park

This petition, supported by the undersigned, is directed to the Mayor, Borough Council and Park Officials of Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Its goal is to support the construction of an enclosed, off-leash dog park in a centralized, convenient location within the Boyertown Area School District. A full proposal is currently being developed that will be presented to the Borough along with this petition.

This park would be a designated area where residents and their well-behaved canine citizens can exercise and have fun in a clean, safe environment. We want to create a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who will be willing to uphold the park’s rules and restrictions. This park will be designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike. We aim for this park to be a community project, supported in large part by volunteer dog advocates and maintained in partnership with the Borough of Boyertown.

In many cities, dog parks are very common. You can view the list of dog parks in each city and state by visiting this website: www.doggoes.com . However, there are no public dog parks anywhere within a 20 minute drive of Boyertown! The large number and success of dog parks all over the country demonstrate that when a group of concerned and responsible dog owners work together for a leash-free dog park, not only can this concept work but it can thrive and enrich the community.

Research shows that property values near dog parks increases, sometimes significantly. For example, in one San Francisco neighborhood, property values rose approximately 900% within five years of the construction of a dog park (and that’s not a type-o!) Consider this: parks increase the livability of a city and provide for a better sense of community. The more parks a city has, and the more variety of parks a city has, the higher its property values tend to be. Moreover, research shows a great reduction in crime in neighborhoods with dog parks. Who would want to commit a crime with fifteen dogs and their owners watching? (source: www.clevelanddogparks.com )

Therefore, we are asking the Borough of Boyertown to allow the construction of a dog park for the following reasons:

- There is not a current public dog park in our area to accommodate safe, off-leash dog activities.

- Such a park would allow families with dogs to spend more quality time with their pets.

-Having such a park located in the rear wooded currently unused portion of the Boyertown Community Park would promote better use of this land area and deter crime through higher foot-traffic and video surveillance.

- Such a park would reduce angst between dog owners, non-owners, police and park authorities regarding dog access to other city parks.

- This park would increase opportunities for residents to interact with their neighbors and help create a sense of community.

- Many dogs need exercise above and beyond human limitations; furthermore, many dog owners do not have a yard where their dogs can spend time outside, and leashes greatly limit the dog’s space and pace.

- Socializing dogs is very beneficial to the community, since it makes them less skittish and can mitigate aggressive behavior when meeting other dogs and people.

- Regular exercise is great for any dog's longevity and weight control, and the overall effect of regular exercise makes most dogs calmer and better behaved.

Please help us create a dedicated space that allows our residents to exercise their canine family members and themselves as well as benefit the community as a whole!

If you would like to be involved in our efforts, you can email info@barco-pa.com or visit www.barco-pa.com . We can update you on our next steps and see how you may be able to help out.

Where's the support to keep the family together so there's love and support children change more so as research shows children in care are more likely to go to prison and cause ASBO parents turn to drugs the family are again apart this is for them to turn to a group a unit something like victim support, group counselling, women, something to help stable families so children don't end up back in care or on the streets.

29. Open family courts to the public to see the truth

There are too many lies and corrupt courts in the world, the courts need to be open so we can see that justice is done properly like the criminal courts, as child abuse should been seen as criminal and not only judge but jury and then they would be a fair hearing part of our human rights as children are taken away from loving familys and this causes more abuse to children.

John Bowbly child psychologist stated it will do more harm than good if a child and mother is separated, research shows children in care are more likely to end up criminals themselves and ASBO.

30. Social Services Reform in regards to Parents in America

Social Services has no boundaries, social workers are allowed to bully parents around while using the excuse "for the sake of the children" There's a clear difference between enforcing good parenting habits and using authority for the sake of self-gain.

These actions need to stop. There is no punishment for these workers who unjustly abuse their powers. When there is no clear punishment for childish behavior, then it's allowed to flourish and survive. If being in a position of responsibility is too much for these workers and acting with maturity is out of the question, then they should be fined in order to remind them that they shouldn't get complacent with the fact that there is no punishment for immature and arrogant behavior.

A standard should be implemented and Social Services should be obliged to it, to ensure equal and fair treatment for parents going through such a difficult ordeal. Having no obligations to it's own contracts of reform enables immaturity and arrogance. This needs to stop.
