1. Support The Green Energy Project
What we are proposing appears at first glance to be rather simple: the U.S. should invite the world’s experts and researchers to the United States to pursue their work and research in the U.S..
We want the leading minds in the alternative energy field working for U.S. companies, studying and teaching in U.S. colleges and universities, and starting business in the U.S., right? However, as a result of the broken immigration system, the U.S. government is actively interfering in the market and preventing the world’s best and brightest from coming to the U.S. to join our industry in developing green energy as quickly and efficiently as possible. Does this make sense?
Let's ask the President and Congress to enact legislation that would encourage the issuance of visas to experts in the field of alternative energy, including visas to work, conduct research, study, innovate, and start business in the US in the field of alternative energy.
“Support Our Port” is committed to a multi-use Oshawa harbour for recreation and industry – bringing the greatest benefits to the city, and the people of Oshawa.
This would include the construction of an ethanol facility in the port of Oshawa to create jobs, support the local economy, and support farmers and the environment.
Producing ethanol in the Oshawa port would use local corn. It would be a source of greener, more environmentally-friendly energy and would inject millions of dollars into the city’s economy through new taxes.
3. Make electric cars available in Australia
The Australian Government has deliberately sabotaged attempts to make electric vehicles available to consumers in Australia to protect the oil industry.
While Australians suffer record high petrol prices and the effects of the effects of global warming in our worst droughts ever, our government is delaying the arrival of safe, clean, zero emission battery powered vehicles which can be charged via a standard power point.
Contrary to popular belief, viable private vehicles have been available since 2002 and are being driven by people in Europe and the United States. BEV's are capable of acceleration performance that exceeds gasoline powered vehicles and produce no noise pollution. Mass produced vehicles are safe and affordable. Yet government red tape has prevented their availability to Australians.
The Reva, a family car powered by electricity made in India has sold over 1,800 vehicles around the world since 2001. The Solar Shop in Adelaide has distribution rights and a the vehicle has a competitive retail price of $15,000 AUD, but the government will not let them sell it.
The Xebra, another battery vehicle has sold 200 vehicles in the US since 2006 but is not yet available in Australia but retails for around $13,500 AUD.
Both these vehicles are cheaper to buy than most models of commercial petrol powered vehicles and far cheaper to run than even LPG or ethanol powered cars.
These initiatives are supported in the UK with congestion tax exemptions and also in California.
Meanwhile, Australians are being made to drive vehicles which cost between four to six times as much per kilometre to operate or expensive hybrid cars which are not the ideal solution.
Our nation is the biggest greenhouse polluter in the world per capita, our government is not committed to ratifying Kyoto and transport accounts for over 15% of our total greenhouse emmisions.
Our government is making saving compulsory by superannuation, but not allowing us to save on our basic transport costs.
The Australian government argues that there is no demand for these vehicles, however until the government lets these be sold, how can they know whether there is not demand ? Instead, they continue to encourage LPG conversions and ethanol use as solutions for petrol prices and no solution for greenhouse gas reduction at the same time denying Australians a cheaper alternative.
4. Allow Maximum Permissible Ethanol in Australia
South Australian Farmers Fuel Pty Ltd (SAFF) continues to lead the way in the production and distribution of Biofuels throughout rural and regional Australia.
SAFF is endeavoring to provide to consumers E85 Biopetrol (a blend of 15% petrol and 85% fuel alcohol produced from wheat and grape waste).
Ethanol-blended fuels will reduce Australia’s dependence on imported petroleum. The introduction of ethanol-blended fuels will also provide an economic boost to Australia’s rural economies and assist improvement to the environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Fuel-alcohol blended fuels are cleaner, renewable and has superior fuel economy to Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). The retail price of E85 Biopetrol to Australian consumers will be only slighter greater than LPG.

This petition is calling for an effort to bring the alternative fuel E85 ethanol to the state of Louisiana, as there is not one at the present time.
There is currently an alternative fuel availible in this country called E85 ethanol. It is made from corn, a quite renewable resource, and has been proven better for the environment than the fuels that we presently use.
E85 ethanol helps to reduce green house gas and smog-forming emissions and our dependence on petroleum.
E85 also has a positive effect on your vehicle, improving its performance by having a higher octane rating than gasoline. This allows greater horsepower and torque.
Perhaps the most beneficial reason for E85 is the fact that it will support the domestic agriculture industry of the United States because of the availibility of the product of corn and other grains in our own country.
The State of Louisiana presently has NO locations for the purchase of E85 ethanol. We can all make a difference by showing a sincere effort for this cause.
This petition is to show that the citizens of Louisiana care about the energy industry and would appreciate the availibility of E85 in our state.
