1. Road Safety and more lighting in the Friary community

We the undersigned would like there to be traffic control signs in place at the entrance to Frairy Park Estate, as there are big lorries that use the entrance to reverse into, this has become increasingly worrying for many residents as they have young children playing in this blind spot area.

We would also like to have more lighting erected on the Frairy Park Estate.

2. Safe crossing at entrance to Merrist Wood Campus on Holly Lane, Worplesdon, Surrey

Every day, literally hundreds of pedestrians, largely made up of Guildford College students and staff, cross Holly Lane at the entrance/exit to Merrist Wood Campus. The area is a blind spot for both motorists and pedestrians and with vehicles often travelling at high speeds, it has become increasingly unsafe.

Guildford College Students' Union are leading this campaign with the full backing of the college and The Principal. The college has a large population of young people from age 14 upwards as well as many students with disabilities and the safety of all is of major concern.

3. Bring Back Christopher Columbus!

For years A.L. Bozzelli's immaculate sculpture of this continent's discover Christopher Columbus has graced the entrance to the Administrative office of Bangor Area Highschool, but only weeks ago it had its home moved to DeFranco Elementary School.

Many students loved and cherished the statue and are distraught over their loss.

Not only did it perfectly accompany the corner of the room it was placed in, many students saw it as being the essence of life as a Bangor Area High School student.

At its new home it will no longer be able to fulfill this duty, nor will many students even be able to see it, every student past 6th grade for instance.

4. Traffic Light @ Pineridge Estates Entrance & 96th

There was a very bad accident on 96th Street and Pinecreek Way at the Pine Ridge Estates subdivision entrance on August 27th, 2007.

This is the second such accident in the last few months.

It is impossible for pedestrians to cross 96th street or cars to make a left turn onto 96th street.

To avoid serious injury and/or death it is imperative a stop light be installed.

5. Open Block House Drive Petition

Dear BHC Residents,

As many of you know, Block House Creek needs another entrance/exit to our neighborhood. Currently, there is a petition online to open Scottsdale Drive as a solution and we are adding Block House Drive as the solution.

On May 27th, the Blockhouse Creek MUD Board approved a resolution to be sent to the City of Cedar Park and Williamson County offices, to open Block House Drive to 183-A, as another exit/entrance as they would keep it a private road for BHC residents (unfortunately, this isn't enough and it is why we have this online petition for the residents of BHC to voice their desires).

We believe, Block House Drive South is the most logical solution, because it does not compromise the safety of BHC children and/or disturb the peace of our neighborhood. It is why most of us purchased a home in BHC. Scottsdale is probably the quickest solution but unfortunately it compromises what many of us believe in (indirectly or directly). Scottsdale opens up to driveways, neighborhood children and potential disaster. We understand that Block House Drive may take some time to open up but it is the best solution for EVERYONE in the neighborhood. There are no houses that face the road, only fences and the safety of BHC children is not compromised and the peace in the neighborhood is sustained. It's the perfect solution.

We are asking you to join fellow BHC neighbors by signing this online petition.

**NOTE** IT IS IMPORTANT AFTER YOU SIGN THE PETITION TO PLEASE LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD TO THE CTRMA ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ISSUE: EMAIL: INFO@CTRMA.ORG THEY WANT YOUR EMAILS ABOUT THIS. ALSO, MAKE A CALL TO CYNTHIA LONGS OFFICE AT 260-4280 - YOUR CALL WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. ***********

The main points for opening the road are:

Traffic congestion in front of the elementary school, traffic backups on Creek Run, Blockhouse Dr. to New Hope. Our children walking to school need to be safe!

Emergency vehicles do not have a clear route to the back part of the neighborhood. In case of an emergency they need a quicker route to us!!

Quicker access to the new Hospital/Medical Center being built.

In case of an emergency evacuation, residents should have more exits than we currently do.

The city of Cedar Park has a proposed fire and EMS station at the corner of New Hope and 183-A.

When the commuter train begins, the RR Track will be extremely busy. Traffic will become backed up on BHC and New Hope during rush hour.

Environmental concerns because of the extra mileage we have to drive to get to our destinations.

The routes we do have to travel take us by school zones, and thru other neighborhoods.

There is no evidence that crime increases because of more access to neighborhoods.

Easier access for the new shopping centers, potential buyers will not move here if they realize how difficult it is to get to the shopping/hospitals.

There are not enough exits/entrances for our 2200 residents!!

11. Sign Amendment in Red Lodge

Red Lodge is facing a new challenge. The City Council is debating whether to allow electronic signs in the Community Entrance zones by amending the existing sign code (which currently bans electronic signs). The potential consequences of such an amendment are troubling, as MANY civic groups will have the ability to put up electronic signs. In addition, businesses can and most likely will challenge the language of the amendment to get in on the action too.

All organizations currently have the ability to convey their messages through signage; however they are limited to non-electronic formats. If we want to avoid having Red Lodge look like King Avenue or Grand Avenue in Billings in a matter of years, this amendment needs to be opposed. It has already passed 4-3 on "first read" so the next City Council meeting is the last opportunity to change the Council's vote on this matter.

12. Deerfield Subdivision Entrance Streetlight

The Deerfield Subdivision entrance at Hickory Ridge Road and Bonnie Valley does not currently have a street light, a lamp post or any type of illumination. This petition's purpose is to gather interest and signatures of the homeowners effected and present our concerns that this absence of light at our entrance is a safety hazard.

This hazard is intensified by the constant speeding along Hickory Ridge Road, our concealed entrance due to hills and valleys adjacent to Bonnie Valley in both directions and the presence of pedistrians, children playing and pet walking.
