1. Protect Historic Philadelphia from Digital Billboards

Two months ago, a billboard company removed a non-conforming billboard structure from the rooftop of Smart Cube Storage located at 400 N. 5th Street.

The billboard company replaced the original sign with a digital billboard, whose bright, flashing messages change up to 10,000 times daily and can be seen from residences in Society Hill, Old City, and Callowhill neighborhoods.

The sign also can be seen from various parts of the Independence National Historic District, a United Nations World Heritage Site.

The Zoning Board Hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday July 25th at 2 o’clock. If you oppose the conversion of this sign to digital please add your name to this petition and we will submit it to the zoning board at that time. You can also write a letter directly to the Zoning Board of Adjustments 1401 JFK Blvd 11th Floor Phila, PA 19103.

2. Stop Interrupting Regular Programs to Broadcast Cricket

ABC Local Radio has a community of listeners spanning the whole of Australia. The transmission of the 'Overnights' program, hosted by Trevor Chappell and Rod Quinn and also the 'Nightlife' program, hosted by Tony Delroy, are often interrupted by sporting events, such as cricket, with regular listeners being forced to listen to regular shows online or on digital radio. This is not possible for many people and is inconvenient.

Please make a separate channel for sport, or have the minority who want to listen to sport, listen online or via digital radio, and leave the majority of regular listeners to their normal programming.

7. Abolish the Digital Economy Bill

This bill is a disgrace, swiftly passed through parliament with little debate, only 5% of MP's attending the debate and voted how their respective parties wished them to anyway.

Passed through right before parliament is dissolved so that this cant be brought up in parliament until May/June.

Innocent people will be persecuted by this, having their internet connections removed for simply being suspected of file sharing. This law is far too loose and will have serious application problems. It has introduced censorship to the UK, with the ability for the Secretary of State to block any website he/she believes to be associated with File Sharing. That could include website like Google!

9. Comcast! We miss KBS World programs! Add MKtv!

As of November 1st, 2009 WMBC ended its broadcast of KBS World on digital channel 63.5. This service was free and only required a digital tuner connected to a television to be viewed within the metro NY/NJ area.

Two local cable companies-- Time Warner and Cablevision both offer a channel called MKtv which broadcasts many KBS World programs which are entertaining, educational, and family-friendly most of which offer english subtitles for non-Korean speakers.

A list of programs available on MK:

The MK coverage area includes:

Both of these providers are not offered in my town of residence. I am within the Comcast coverage area and I am sure that I am not the only one that want MKtv to be added to Comcast.

11. Bring Back the ANALOG phone network (AMPS)

Many of you may have an OLD brick phone or Motorola bagphone hanging around the house, and must remember the days when using a phone was for talking only, and the great reception provided by these nostalgic phones.

These phones are for Talking, and talking only, no mms or mobile internet, just regular talking, what the phone was designed for. Now this is not a petition against modern phones (there great) but nothing beats being able to carry a phone around your shoulder, using a car phone(not while driving of course) or carrying a Motorola Dynatac brick.

Those were the days, until Telstra Australia had a stupid idea to turn the AMPS system off in 2000, and then the CDMA off in 2008. But with the billions they make every year, they are bound to have a old AMPS transmission tower somewhere and could reactivate just one in a major city such as Sydney.

12. Save Digital Media!

TAFE NSW is planning on scrapping their Digital Media courses and replacing them with an IT Diploma that has a few subjects of a similar nature.

Previously, due to an agreement between TAFE NSW (Wagga Wagga) and Charles Sturt University, graduates of the Diploma in Digital Media have been able to articulate directly into the third year of a Bachelor of Arts (Multimedia). This has been largely due to the outstanding quality of work produced by our students, as well as the years of dedication and hard work by the teaching staff.

Thanks to the hasty and ill-thought decision of TAFE NSW, students will no longer be able to take advantage of this agreement. Additionally, students who enrolled in the course at the beginning of this year, under the assumption that they too would be able to go on to university, now find themselves stranded – in any sane situation, that would be considered a breach of contract.

TAFE NSW contends that the course they have instituted in place of Digital Media covers the same subjects and achieves the same outcomes – this is patently false. The new course contains no practical art subjects and has what amounts to a brief overview of animation and design. Students who complete this course will not be able to transfer their skills to university and hope to gain any subject credit. Additionally, the new course will be promoted under the name “IT (Multimedia)”, which has the potential to turn away scores of young people intimidated by academia.

Australia is already far behind the rest of the world when it comes to the arts, music, film and animation – do we really want to work towards making our nation even further behind? There is nothing to say about this pitiful decision, save that it is just not okay. It is tremendously short sighted; it may make sense in the short term, it will certainly improve the TAFE NSW bottom line – but at what cost to the community? How many more young people will leave Wagga Wagga because we don’t value the arts?

Sign this petition and help put pressure on TAFE NSW to reverse this decision immediately. For them to do anything less is tantamount to spitting on the efforts of both past students and the hard working teachers of Digital Media.

14. Cease Operations of DeLoach Towing Co, Inc. (Tallahassee, FL)

DeLoach Towing Co., Inc. towed my car from a non-designated towing area. Once I realized my car had been towed, I contacted an employee at DeLoach and was told that the fee was $80 and that we could get pictures of the car from a printer at DeLoach Towing. When we arrived at DeLoach at approximately 10:00 pm, the employee stated that the pictures from the digital camera could only be printed from a computer which was in the owner's locked office. We told him to call the owner and then said that the owner was on his way. We waited for 50 minutes after the employee called the owner and then discovered the owner was not on his way. At this time (11:00), we were told we could not get a copy of the pictures. The price apparently increases to $105 after 11:00. While I was inside ready to pay with a police officer, my father in-law took the car because he thought we were paying. DeLoach said he was stealing the car and that we could not pay (I own the car and was driving the car the night of the incident). The police brought my father in law back from a gas station a couple blocks down the street to DeLoach and DeLoach towed my car back again. Miraculously the owner was able to make it down the street to the gas station from accross town, but could not go two blocks farther to his Company to print the pictures. We were charged $210 by the end of the night. DeLoach charged us for two tows.

The Police said they should only charge us for one incident which they believed should not have occurred in the first place by viewing the pictures on the digital camera. From our conversation with the police, the police get calls from DeLoach more than any other tow company in Tallahassee for unfair business practices. Not only is this company practicing unfair business acts, but they are wasting the Tallahassee Police Dapartments valuable time. The Police arrived around 11:00 pm and we finally left DeLoach (with $210 less) after 1:00 am.

15. Save the UT Snipers!!!

In the three years following the initial release of Unreal Tournament, a thriving community of UT Snipers has developed. This community has now grown to include thousands of online gamers who regularly populate servers in an attempt to perfect strategies of stealth and the element of individual aim. Despite this, the developers of UT2003 have declined to include the traditional sniper rifle in their new release. Instead, they have replaced the rifle with a "lightning gun" which is so vastly dissimilar from the pre-existing rifle in terms of mechanics and operation as to be an entirely different weapon in essence and performance.

To this end, this petition requests the inclusion of a sniper arena mod for UT2003 which includes the traditional sniper rifle or some reasonable fascimile thereof.

As loyal supporters of the Unreal series of games, we express our gratitude for the creative work of Digital Extremes, Epic and affiliated organizations involved in the effort to continue the standard of excellence manifest that they have so ably established on our behalf. We only ask that the skills and strategies that we have labored so dilligently to possess and perfect not be ignored or abandoned for the sake of a "balanced" gameplay which eliminates many elements of performance which have attracted us to Unreal and held our interest over the course of several years. Although the mod community would undoubtedly move to rectify this situation, such a mod could concievably result in weeks or even months of delay for those UT weapons players and snipers who seek only to move quickly to support UT2003 with our purchase and our play.

To this end, we, the undersigned, request that UT2003 be made to include a sniper arena mod which contains the traditional sniper rifle or some reasonable fascimile thereof.

16. Football Fans against ITV Digital

With news that ITV Digital has now gone bust and the remaining games to be 'sold' off to the highest bidder, this surely means the end for many of the smaller clubs who were depending on the revenue. It is time the Football Association took charge of the total domination of certain media companies in the United Kingdom which only allow the fat cats to get fatter whilst the smaller, less well known clubs are left to fend for themselves again.
