This petition is to have the venue for the Cold Chisel Light The Nitro tour 2011 Perth moved to a bigger venue to enable more fans to purchase tickets. It is really sad that Perth seem to miss out often.

This is a band that has such a huge fan base & should definitely be seen by more than just the 4500 people that were lucky enough to purchase tickets for the belvoir concert.

If we gather enough interest to show support and interest that Newfoundland's 'Over The Top' deserves to open, maybe Sonic Entertainment will consider them as the opening act.

9. Kathi McDonald Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Kathi McDonald's landed the vocalist her first big professional gig when she was attending a concert and joined in as part of the audience. McDonald's powerful voice drew Ike Turner's notice in a club called the Winterland, and he invited the aspiring singer to his and Tina Turner's next rehearsal. McDonald had snagged a ...spot in the Ikettes, the Turners' backing group. It was a heady and magical beginning for someone who never had any formal lessons.

Born in Washington state in 1948, McDonald performed professionally for the first time around Seattle when she was 12 years old. At the age of 19 she set off for San Francisco and its burgeoning musical climate, where she met the Turners and, through her association with them, took the first step on a career path that would span more than four decades.

Not long after the evening at Winterland, her talent caught the attention of Big Brother & the Holding Company's Sam Andrew. McDonald threw her lot in with the band in 1969, leading to appearances on the albums Can't Go Home Again, How Hard It Is, and Be a Brother. She went on to sing with Mad Dogs & Englishmen for Joe Cocker, and later sang with Leon Russell's Shelter People. Her session work included recordings for such artists as the Rolling Stones, Nils Lofgren, Rita Coolidge, Delaney & Bonnie, and Dave Mason. Her work for other musical artists totals up to appearances on almost 160 albums, more than six dozen of which achieved gold status. In addition, McDonald also launched a solo career in 1974 with the release of the album Insane Asylum. The recording was arranged by Pete Sears, whose formal band associations include Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship.

Insane Asylum featured performances by Tower of Power, the Pointer Sisters, Aynsley Dunbar, John Cippolina, Neil Schon, and Ronnie Montrose. Kathi did not release another solo effort for 20 years, when Save Your Breath appeared. Above and Beyond followed in 1999, featuring contributions from Lee Oskar on harmonica and Brian Auger on keyboards. McDonald devoted more than two decades to recording and performing in collaboration with Long John Baldry, and the duo scored with their version of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" when it was released in Canada. The song reached number 2 in Australia and also made the US charts.

Aside from collaborative efforts Kathi has solo projects of her own: Insane Asylum(1974), David Briggs, producer of the second Alice Cooper album Easy Action and multiple early Neil Young discs is at the helm on Insane Asylum. With arrangements by The Jefferson Starship's Pete Sears, whose formal band associations include Hot Tuna this is a showcase for the chops and musicianship of McDonald. There's a terrific reading of the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" and an interesting first track co-written by McDonald and Pete Sears, "Bogart to Bowie," with Nils Lofgren on guitar and Bobbye Hall on percussion. The photos of McDonald on the back cover are chaotic and beautiful, a cartoon caricature of these adorns the cover, the illustration by Seiko Kashihara. With Ronnie Montrose on guitar and Pete Sears on keys for a heavy version of "(Love Is Like A) Heatwave," you basically have Big Brother & the Holding Company/ Montrose/Jefferson Starship covering Martha & the Vandellas. With what may be the best performance on the disc, "Threw Away My Love," the second Sears/McDonald original, Kathi's great, bluesy vocal fights and Journey's Neil Schon on guitar give the track tons of soul! "Freak Lover" features the late Starship violinist Papa John Creach and is appropriately manic for an album about insanity.

Willie Dixon's composition, "Insane Asylum," with Pete Sears and Nils Lofgren, is a blues workout deluxe. Neil Schon and Pete Sears accompany Kathi on a Peter Frampton tune, "All I Want to Be." Lofgren and Sears do a heavy cover of Neil Young's "Down to the Wire" for the singer to display her wonderful voice. There is an abundance of talent here, creating a nice platform for this important singer. Insane Asylum also featured performances by Tower of Power, the Pointer Sisters, Aynsley Dunbar, John Cippolina.

Her next solo project was Save Your Breath (1994), then Above And Beyond (1999) featuring contributions from Lee Oskar on harmonica and Brian Auger on keyboards. She reunited with Big Brother & the Holding Company in California for a concert on New Years Eve, 1997.

Her self-titled Kathi McDonald (2005) is a triumph in a long and prestigious career. This CD showcases the still incredible voice, timing, soulful delivery, and talent that is Kathi McDonald, the musician's choice as singer, the musician's musician, and still the biggest little white girl to ever sing the blues coming out of the West Coast. The main forces behind the CD, Pete Slauson and Ann Pierson (partners for years in the nineties at 2B1 Music, Maritime Hall, San Francisco, CA).

10. Support The Who Concert Tragedy Memorial

30 years ago Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum hosted the Who concert. There were over 18,000 people in attendance. When only a few doors were open, the people started to trample others to get inside the Coliseum, to get a good seat.

No one knew at the time they were trying to get into the concert and heard shortly after that 11 people had been trampled to death and a couple dozen people were injured.

11. Allow Children in Caesers Windsor to See Concerts and Events

I have grown up in a family where music is very important part in our lives. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Herman Hermits, Tom Petty, etc, are a few examples. Many great musicians of that kind come to Caesers Windsor.

I believe children should be allowed in to see concerts and events and I'll tell you why. The main reason children are not allowed into Caesers is due to the atmosphere of alcohol and gambling. Yet, there in NO ALCOHOL allowed in the concert bowl, during concerts. Due to this children should at least be allowed in to see concerts and events of many types, without drinking or gambling.

Many die-hard music fans, that are children, should have the opportunity of seeing their favourite artists, while they still can. Even if there are no children allowed in the bowl , it would be wonderful if they made an minors section, separate section, far away from any alcohol or gambling. So that die hard music fans-such as myself- can still have the opportunity to see many great artists. Thank You.

12. Appeal to Leonard Cohen not to perform in Israel

The Canadian musician and songwriter Leonard Cohen is currently enjoying a well-earned resurgence in popularity, selling out huge venues on his world tour. Long-time fans and admirers across the world however note with considerable dismay his decision to perform in Israel this September.

Mr Cohen has not toured or performed there since the eighties, so to choose to return now in the aftermath of one of the most brutal incursions into Gaza and the killing of hundreds of men, women and children seems to be extremely ill-judged. There is an organised cultural boycott of Israel in place already which many writers, performing artists and academics are supporting. We are asking Leonard Cohen to join them.

The following brief quotation from an article by an Israeli peace activist vividly and horrifyingly illustrates what happened to hundreds of children in the territory:

"The 400 Palestinian children who were burnt to death, or torn into pieces by Israel's recent onslaught on Gaza would never be able to hear your songs; nor could the hundreds of children who were maimed, injured and burnt by white phosphorous shells dropped by Israeli fighter planes (provided by the States) listen to your lyrics. They have been lying in hospital crying with agony with hardly any medicine to relieve their pain" 'From an Israeli Citizen to Leonard Cohen' Ruth Tenne - a member of Jews for Justice for Palestine. 22. Stop High School Musical Paper Waste

I think that the High School Musical shouldn't use the confetti blow at the end of the next concert. It is is a waste of paper. All of the people in the stands will collect the paper and take it home with them, so they can't take it back and recycle it.

Think of all the show across the country with all of of those paper confetti blows. So lets stop them with this petition before they do it again with the High School Musical 2 Concert!

25. Ban ebay ticket sales

Most people that are regulars on the gig scene and even ones that are not will know, trying to get tickets to see a band / concert these days is mostly down to luck.

This I believe is due to the amount of people buying tickets simply to sell them at huges profits on ebay. The evidence to support this claim can be seen by anyone that goes onto ebay and searches for tickets. I recently seen a £12.50 ticket for one of my favourite bands on ebay selling for £90 (this was the day after i tried myself to get tickets to this gig with no luck).

It is my own opinion, as well as most of the people i have discussed this with, that if ticket sales on ebay are stopped there will be a lot less people buying them simply to sell on, and a lot more chance of genuine giggers being able to purchase them at their true value. Please support this petition and add your signature.

26. Remove Seating Facilities for Concerts at S’pore Indoor Stadium

February 7, 2006

This is a Petition to request for action on the removal of seating facilities for Rock & Pop concerts (S'pore Indoor Stadium).

I attended my very first rock concert in my teenage years. In my opinion, it was one of the best concerts that ever took place in S'pore. The energy exuded by the 1000+ fans were truly an amazing sight. It was a METALLICA Concert & at that time, they were one of the hottest Metal Bands around (& they still are!!).

Although I absolutely enjoyed the unforgettable event... but what disappointed me utterly was the inclusion of seating facilities. I was extremely surprised (or rather, Shocked!) that there actually were seats for a Rock concert. What a Travesty it was.

The seats were absolutely redundant & a major obstacle for the fans to have a great time. For Goodness sake... this is a ROCK Concert. Nobody will ever seat down during a Rock Concert.
I really do not comprehend the reason for placing seats in the main arena. I did not pay $150 to seat down at concert events. Apparently, everybody were not utilising the seats at all.
The fans were either standing or using the seats as standing-stools (including myself & my friends).

In 2001, I attended the COLDPLAY/TRAVIS Concert. The concert was excellent, but the seats (again!) were a major disappointment. Then there were also ushers demanding fans to take their seats. This is unacceptable as those at the rear will not be able to see their favourite band perform because the fans in the front were standing up & obstructing the view.

Hence, those fans behind have to stand on the seats to enjoy the concert & get their money's worth. The concert tickets cost over a $100 each & i bought 4 tickets for my friends so we would have a enjoyable night.
However, we were deprived of having good clean fun.

I understand the need to have seating facilities for shows/films, theatrical performances & plays as i do attend these events as well. (eg. Cirque du Soleil, Cabarets, etc )
Nowadays whenever there are any concerts (like the upcoming Franz Ferdinand & OASIS concert), i would think twice about spending money to attend the event where i have to mandatorily take a seat to enjoy the concert.

I'm very sure many others out there would share my exact sentiments.
Thus, I write this petition to appeal to the authorities & organisers to remove the seating facilities for all Rock/Pop Concerts in the future.
I always believe this action will undoubtedly please all fans & concert go-ers.

Furthermore, more eager fans would not hesitate to buy tickets to see their favourite artistes/bands perform.
This will definitely be a win-win situation.

The cost of setup would be lower as there will be significantly less maintenance of the seats & manpower to arrange the seats prior to the event.
Please do your part & sign the petition to put a halt to all these unreasonable decisions to place seats in the arena.

Kindly send this petition to all your friends & relatives who believe in this cause as well.

On completion of the signature inputs, this petition will be sent to all relevent authorities pertaining to concert events organisation. (Ministry of Information & The Arts, SISTIC, etc). Thank you very much for your kind & generous support.

Yours Sincerely,
Kenneth Fan Kei Lim

27. Green Day to Play in Perth

Green Day are one of the greatest and most well-loved punk rock bands in the world today. It was recently announced that they will be returning to Australia to play two concerts - one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

After putting on a fantastic and absolutely rockin` show in Perth (Western Australia) @ Rock It in March this year I had seriously hoped that they would once again grace us with their presence - but it seems that this is not to be.

Well I say NO WAY!! Do they not realise how much us Perthies would love to see them back on our sunny western shores?!? So yeh, I've decided to do something about it and I really think that you guys will be able to help me out! I really do believe (and hope from the bottom of my heart!) that Green Day will come back to Perth to put on another VERY LOUD and VERY ROCKIN` show for all of their many and dedicated fans in Perth.

With your help we might even make it so...(Even if I have to drive over to Melbourne to pick the band up myself!)

30. Please Jimmy Buffett - Help your Fans

Dear Mr. Buffett,

We, your fans, are asking for your help. The problem is the difficulty that your true fans have had in getting tickets to your concerts. Many fans stand in line for hours or spend hours on the phone and end up with no tickets. Ticket agents are able to get plenty of tickets before they even go on sale, yet we as your fans are not able to get tickets unless we pay the scalpers prices which range from $140-$600 for tickets with a face value of $60. Not to mention the orchestra and floor seats that scalpers sell for around $1500.

We realize that this problem is due in part to Ticketmaster. The only solution we have come up
with is to try and protest the actions of Ticketmaster by not buying any tickets from them. However, that would also mean we would never be able to see you and hear you in concert. We would like for you to look into trying to find a way to ensure that your fans are taken care of. We realize that this is a big undertaking, but some other performers have already tried different ways of doing this, so we know that it is possible to make a difference.

We ask that you please try to help you fans who have stuck with you through the
years and are now finding it difficult to pay $140.00 per ticket or face the thought of not spending our summers with you. We ask for you help for ourselves but also point out the fact that you are not seeing any of the money that the scalpers (ticket agents) are making on your name, talent and popularity. Taking some of the power away from Ticketmaster and the ticket agents will not only benefit your fans, it will benefit you.
