1. Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire to end the Postcode Lottery

End the postcode lottery for Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire
residents when it comes to IVF funding and to ensure that current guidelines for IVF funding are adhered to by Oxfordshire PCT, Buckinghamshire PCT, Milton Keynes PCT, Berkshire West PCT, Berkshire East PCT, Hampshire PCT, Southampton City PCT, Portsmouth City Teaching PCT and Isle of Wight PCT.

NICE clearly state in their guidelines for fertility;

“Couples in which the woman is aged 23-39 years at the time of treatment and who have an identified cause for their fertility problems (such as azoospermia or bilateral tubal occlusion) or who have infertility of at least 3 years’ duration should be offered up to three stimulated cycles of in vitro fertilization treatment.”

Unfortunately, many PCT’s do not adhere to this, leaving many couples facing a tough financial commitment or the bleak possibility of having to wait until they are old enough to meet the PCT’s criteria. Whereas some PCT’s do not offer funding for treatment at all.

Please note: Waiting for treatment reduces a women’s fertility rate.

It seems that funding for IVF is not given on the basis of fairness, but on where you live.

For example, if you are in the east of England, your local PCT may follow nice guidelines, however in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire your PCT use their own rules which in some cases makes you wait until 35 years old. At this age success per cycle drops to only 23.6% (HFEA 2006).

This discrimination is unacceptable as National Health Insurance is not dependant on where you live, so why should healthcare be?

Former Secretary of State for Health, Dr John Reid, said that he wanted “all PCTs, including those who at present provide no IVF treatment, to offer at least one full cycle of treatment to all those eligible. In the longer term I would expect the NHS to make progress towards full implementation of the Nice guidance”. His deadline for this was April 2005, but little has changed

All we are asking for is - End the postcode lottery for Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire residents when it comes to IVF funding and ensure that current guidelines for IVF funding are adhered to by Oxfordshire PCT, Buckinghamshire PCT, Milton Keynes PCT, Berkshire West PCT, Berkshire East PCT, Hampshire PCT, Southampton City PCT, Portsmouth City Teaching PCT and Isle of Wight PCT.

2. Gary Bettan's Team and the Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment should stay out of Jim Balsilies Way

Gary Bettan and his team is getting in the way of every single NHL business plan when it comes to the Canadian RIM Billionaire Business man Jim Balsillie for RIM world wide.

I think the Preditisum should stop just because Jim Balsillie is Canadian and wants to be apart of the NHL when is comes to the NHL Board of Governors and the NHL Head Office.

5. Spare South Parade From The Developers

In June 2004, the Skegness Standard and the Skegness Target newspapers revealed that ELDC is consideringre-developing the south foreshore in Skegness, Lincolnshire. This would result in the loss of the Southern Boating Lake, Fairy Dell, Putting Greens, Pitch and Putt and the Crown Bowling Greens.

These facilities may not be used as much as they should, but it is felt that ELDC has neglected this traditional and tranquil part of the town. The Boating lake, with it's tiered terracing could be brought back to its ownwith the reintroduction of firework displays, and by possibly installing some sort of sound system, live performers could provide music etc from the island. The Fairy Dell holds a sentimental place in many people's hearts as they spent time there as kids playing in the pool surrounding the wonderfully ornate fountain. This is where kids can play safely away from potentially dangerous tidal conditions.

As for the Pitch and putt, not many visitors venture that far down South Parade because there is no adequate signage making it obvious that such a facility exists.

Not everybody comes to Skegness for all the thrills and spills that the continuously developing central and north foreshore provide. Many people visit for a rest, a bt of relaxation, and this is where the more genteel southern foreshore comes into it's own - there is no other part of town that offers such a refuge. If maintained well, this area could be very attractive, and a credit to Skegness.

6. Council Tax Costs across Berkshire

I like many people am passionate when it comes to Government fees and cost. Council Tax mainly. I want to raise a petition for everyone who lives under the RG postcode. If, like news articles report, the current Council tax is due to rise by up to 18% I want to bring people together in giving our personal opinions on the alleged rise in the current rates. There is lots of press coverage across the whole United Kingdom regarding the Council Tax issue.

I do not feel that I get "value for money" when it comes to Council Tax charges. I live in the RG31 (Tilehurst, Reading area) and am appalled by my current charges without even viewing the final upcoming raise to our current charges. If the Council could guarantee that ALL services that we pay for are honored, as they should then, I, for one would be less "discussed" of the charges for service. However, the only service I can honestly say I receive for my money is getting my bins emptied once a week. The Policing is poor; the streets are dirty, littered with waste and "rubbish". We have our grass verges cut three times a year if were lucky. The roads are generally in a poor condition…. I could go on.

I am asking you all, the people of Berkshire to sign this petition which will be passed on to our local government representative with a covering letter asking for their comments.

Many people in other parts of the United Kingdom are standing up for what they believe and refusing to pay the proposed increase which is due soon. We as a community NEED TO PULL TOGETHER to stand side by side with others and make sure our voices are heard before this country/county forces itself into a situation that will mirror the problems of late similar to the Poll Tax debate and make our living conditions further more difficult than they already are.

If you, as a resident of Berkshire agree or have your own personal view on Council Tax Costs then PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION. A copy of this will be forwarded to all the local newspapers which cover Berkshire in hope of keeping our County as it should and in favour of us, the people. Many people are finding it difficult to afford the current living costs within Berkshire as it is.

Let's not worsen the situation?

Thank you for you time.

7. Help E escape bad adoption law in Florida

New law comes too late for adoptive family.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- At the end of the month, a new law goes into effect that gives biological fathers 30 days to file for paternal rights over their children. The new law is a welcome change for those seeking to adopt children but comes too late for one Jacksonville family.

For the Scott family, they say the law is two years too late for them. Two- year-old "E", has lived with the Dawn and Gene Scott since he was born. Five months after his birth, "E"’s biological father became involved. His biological father lives in another state and has visitation rights with his son. Now, he says he wants custody. "E's" biological father lives in Maine, and his biological mother lives in Illinois.

His adoptive parents live in Jacksonville. The 2-year-old is caught in the middle of a custody battle. His adoptive parents say if the new law was in effect two years ago, then there would be no conflict.

"[Adopting "E"] has been the most amazing experience to happen for us,"said Dawn Scott, adoptive mother. "He's changed our lives." 2-year-old "E" Scott has a mound of curls and a ton of energy. His adoptive parents, Dawn and Gene Scott, can't imagine life without him. "You dream about him...think about him...can't wait to come home to him, "said Gene Scott, foster father.

Now, "E" is caught in the middle of a custody battle. Five months after he was born, his biological father filed for punitive consent -- giving him the right to fight for custody. Under the new law, a biological father must register consent within 30 days after a child is born. However, the new law has come too late to affect this situation.

"We're just devastated and concerned about where he's going to go," said Dawn Scott. "What's going to happen to him?"

8. Reinstate bulk mailing to OPMALE!

Reinstate bulk mailing to OPMALE.

We do understand your position on bulk mailings, but find it hard to understand how opmale comes under any of those said rules. The people receiving e-mail from opmale have asked to be added to the mailings. So those mailings are not unsolicted random mailings, which we believe your rules were intended to cover. We do not believe AOL intends to halt support for our men and women in uniform, but if this is the case I'm sure many people will consider changing to another provider.

9. Fish Need Rights, Too!

We've all seen the bettas in their little cups in Wal-Mart or pet chain stores. And we've seen the crowded tanks of goldfish. But what happens after the fish are purchased is sometimes inhumane.

Goldfish are sometimes forced to live in tiny "goldfish bowls" which are NOT suitable for goldfish at all. Goldfish grow to become SIX INCHES or more. These bowls are rarely more than five inches in length, and three inches in width. Goldfish produce more waste than many other fish, and these "goldfish bowls" quickly fill with waste. The tops of these bowls are rather small, and do not allow for a proper filter, thus carbon monoxide and ammonia will build up very quickly and eventually kill the fish.

Bettas tend to have just as worse a time as goldfish. In stores, many employees will tell the customer bettas will do fine in tiny cups their entire lives. Well, I'll tell you this. If you have a happy male betta, he will blow a bubble nest in the water, even if there is no female betta in sight. I have NEVER known a male in a cup to blow a bubble nest. Why? They are kept in very cramped conditions, rarely given water changes, and are forced to live swimming in their own waste. I realize many people keep bettas in their work office, but your office would look one heck of a lot better if you dished out the ten extra dollars and bought your betta a five or ten gallon tank for him to live in. One common myth is that males and females can live happily together. THEY CANNOT. There is the rare case where they can, but if left long together, the male usually kills the female.

There is also the occasional village idiot who comes up with "Betta Fight Rings", much like Pitbull Fight Rings, where they place two males in the same tank and bet on whose betta will win. Many of the time both bettas die, and if one lives, they are usually too tattered and die soon after. I ask you, even if they are "just fish", do they not deserve the best care possible? They are more than just decorations for your living room, or 99¢ you paid to play a game at a fair. I'm sure fish value their life more than just a couple of dollars.

I say to you, don't fish, like dogs, cats, horses, or birds, deserve rights, also? Should they be forced to live in dirty, cramped tanks in pet stores until someone comes along to purchase them. The ASPCA needs to do something about the inadequate conditions some fish are living in in pet stores. To "fish geeks" like myself, these are not just fish. They are a hobby, they have personality and spunk. Fish are like any other animal, and they deserve the same rights.

12. Legalise the Law: What goes around comes around.

Have you ever had your car broken into for a lousy $3.40? Ever found a key scratch down the side of your car which was done by a 14 year old "homie", in a pathetic attempt to impress his homie friends? Or have you had your friends over one night on the beers and woke up in the morning to find your place was trashed?
Well I have.
To combat this happening again I wish to present to the Federal Government of Australia the law "what goes around comes around". This entitles the 'victim' to do onto others what they have had done onto them. For example; If somebody knocks your beer over in the pub and doesn't replace it. It is (1)your 'right' to go over and spill theirs or (2) if they do not have a beer to spill, then you can punish them in an equally punishable manner. i.e Kick them in the balls. (This punishment must be aggreed upon by a third non-partial party).
