1. Pass The New York State Dream Act 
In the 2013 New York State Legislative session, New York State Assemblyman Francisco Moya, representing District #39 (Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst) introduced bill A2597, entitled "The New York State Dream Act".
This bill would allow undocumented students who were brought to the United States as very young children to be eligible to receive Financial Aid for a College Education within New York State.
The Bill increased Financial Aid by 25 million dollars, in support of this initiative. The Bill is supported by Speaker of the Assembly Sheldon Silver. A similar bill was introduced in the New York State Senate bill #S2378, but is being blocked by the Republicans Led by Senator Dean Skelos. Senator Skelos does not want the bill to reach the floor because he is afraid to put the State Senators on the record to either support or object to the Bill. Senator Skelos, does not want to loose power in the Senate. Senator Skelos is putting Politics above People.
We need to contact Senator Dean Skelos and tell him to support The Dream Act.
2. Ban smoking outside of community college entrance doors
At the Ozarks Technical Community College campus in Waynesville, Mo there is one one entrance into the small college located in a shopping plaza. Not even 5 feet from the door are benches with buckets for smokers to smoke and drop their cigarettes.
Each student literally must walk THROUGH a cloud of second hand smoke and risk their health because of casual smokers right outside our "nonsmokers" only entrance. The main campus in Springfield,Mo says we are a smoke free campus yet it is ignored in Waynesville's.
For the rights and respect of nonsmokers, sign this petition to ban smoking outside of the entrance doors at our campus so we are no forced to inhale the smoke off of others cigarettes.
3. Mandatory Outside Video Surveillance at Service Stations Nationwide
Greggory Savelio, a senior at Westwood College, was on his way to work on August 22nd 2009 at approximately 5:30 pm when he stopped to pump gas in Dekalb County at the Chevron gas station located at 2450 Candler Road, Decatur, Georgia. A man approached Gregg in a robbery attempt and he was shot and killed. The gas station did not have any outside surveillance cameras so the perpetrator was able to flee the scene. The killer later committed the same act with another innocent victim at a different gas station, but was eventually caught because this location did have outside surveillance cameras on property.
The Chevron did not have outside video surveillance at the pumps where Gregg was robbed and shot, and we believe if there had been a camera in place this would have helped find Gregg’s killers immediately, and possibly even deterred Gregg’s killers from targeting him. One of Gregg’s killers was apprehended but unfortunately, due to the fact that he was not apprehended immediately he was able to flee and commit another robbery and murder another man less than a month later in Richmond County Georgia.
Gregg’s murder was committed in broad daylight and had there been outside surveillance (of quality nature) Gregg’s killers would have likely been identified and arrested immediately.
Noticeable outside video surveillance at gas pumps would deter criminals from targeting patrons, and in the event a crime is committed, the surveillance would help the investigation in apprehending the criminal(s).
4. Urge colleges to release information to CollegeSausage.com
College is more expensive now than at any point in history. Students need more information in order to make informed decisions.
5. Supply our schools with Don't Bully(R) Products and Posters
Don't Bully(R) have been involved in the community since 2011 and within such time of just over one year, it has become more and more obvious with continued feedback from the community, that parents, teachers and children want to see this Don't Bully Message within their schools.
The Don't Bully Message must be active, displayed and worn to ensure all possible measures are taken ensure that others Don't Bully others.
Don't Bully(R) originated from one family who was tired of seeing everyone talk about this message but no one was doing anything about it. So they did and now it needs to be out their for everyone to see.
6. Support Eastcote HC Second Pitch
Eastcote Hockey Club has submitted a revised application (2414/APP/2012/2812 ) to LB Hillingdon to build a 2nd Astroturf floodlit, multisport pitch on their club grounds at Kings College Playing Fields Ruislip. This pitch will be used mainly for hockey & football similar to the existing pitch, with more than 50% of users being community non club members.
The second pitch will allow the club to play all its home games at the club on Saturdays, carry out midweek training and accommodate all of the youth coaching and matches at the club on a Sunday to cope with the ever-increasing number of youngsters who want to join in. It will also be used by local junior and adult football clubs for 6-a-side games during weekday evenings. The 2nd pitch would also be available to local schools
Ruislip Rangers Football Club will continue to use the grass pitches for junior football and the running track will be refurbished and maintained by the club in the future for unrestricted free community use.
The new artificial pitch provides more than 5 times more sports playing capacity than the traditional single grass pitch it replaces. This increase of sporting facilities entirely supports government ambitions to promote and encourage the general public to engage in physical activities as part of a healthy lifestyle, as well as providing increased leisure activities especially for young people.
The second pitch will occupy 5% of the area of Kings College Playing Fields ensuring that 90% of the playing fields will still be totally available for unrestricted access by the community who will be able to continue their traditional pastimes.

Lou and Bill are two oxen that used to work on the college farm for ten years before Lou got injured and is now unable to work. Bill is unable to pull the plough on his own.
Although they now have other oxen as well, and an animal sanctuary has agreed to take them, the college are now planning on slaughtering these two oxen.
If this happens, their deaths may involve paralysis by bolt gun or electric tongs followed brutal killings involving cuts to their throats. Since the college plans on serving their meat on the site, they may end up as half-eaten meals thrown away in the college bins.
8. SPK UP! Bring Pets to Texas Woman's University
Recently, many colleges have been changing their rules to allow students to bring their pets into the dormitories, including many of our nation’s top colleges as well as many other women’s colleges.
Many studies support the idea that pets reduce stress and increase overall happiness, and different studies suggest that pets may aid students in doing better in school. With college being one of the most stressful times in our lives, we feel that the allowance of small pets in the dormitories should be established, as well as the designation of Pet Halls to allow for spayed/neutered, vaccinated cats and dogs in specific dorms.
The animals we want allowed in the dormitories are small mammals (hamsters, mice, rats, gerbils, chinchillas, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc.), certified non-venomous reptiles, and the increase of the aquarium limit to 20 gallons.

Students in the United States are blessed to have legal rights, freedoms and protections. These include constitutional, civil, contract, consumer rights and rights specific to higher education. They are scattered, however, through a number of legal documents and court decisions making it hard for students to find them.

10. Support Debt Forgiveness in the USA
Iceland’s economy has grown by leaps and bounds since the government there implemented widespread debt forgiveness for many of its citizens. The initiative came about following protests by Icelanders in 2008-2009 who were angry at the country’s leaders and bankers for its fiscal and economic collapse.
Iceland banks have forgiven loans equaling 13 percent of the country’s annual gross domestic product, which has eased the debt burden for more than 25 percent of Iceland’s population.
Iceland’s slow ascent out of the economic abyss began in 2008, following an $85 billion default by the country’s banks. Its economy in 2012 will surpass that of the entire euro zone, as well as the developed world on average (including the world’s largest economy, the United States, whose economy grew at an anemic 2.2 percent in the first quarter of this year), according to an estimate by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD).
Iceland’s $13 billion annual economy declined 6.7 percent in 2009, but has since rebounded and will expand by 2.4 percent this year and in 2013, the OECD estimated. Meanwhile, in the rest of debt-ridden Europe, the economy will collectively expand by a paltry 0.2 percent this year and only 1.6 percent the next, OECD estimates said in November.
That said, Icelanders are still reeling from the financial carnage.
“There are still a lot of people facing difficulties; at the same time there are a lot of people doing fine,” Kristjan Kristjansson, a spokesman for Landsbankinn hf, said. “It’s nearly impossible to say when enough is enough; alongside every measure that is taken, there are fresh demands for further action.”
That may come in the form of legal action. A new leadership coalition, led by Social Democrat Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir that was voted into office in early 2009, has authorities looking into who was most responsible for the banking meltdown. And parliament is still weighing whether to move forward with an indictment brought against former Prime Minister Geir Haarde in 2009 for his role in the crisis.
In all, a special prosecutor has announced that as many as 90 people may be indicted, while more than 200 others, including former chief executives of the country’s three largest banks, will face criminal charges.
In the U.S., meanwhile, no top bank executives or lawmakers have faced prosecution for their roles in the subprime mortgage meltdown, though the federal Securities and Exchange Commission said in 2011 it had sanctioned 39 senior banking officials for conduct tied to the housing market collapse.
So far, home values have declined 33 percent since peaking in 2006. Yet the best Americans can get from their leaders after being suckered into purchasing homes at what turned out to be hugely (artificially) inflated prices is a proposal by President Obama earlier this year to expand loan modifications that included “some” reductions in principal loan amounts.
Summary - We the undersigned are adamantly opposed to the University of Kansas (KU) scheduling any future athletic contests against any Big 12 Conference member that has chosen to leave.
This includes the recently departed Universities of Nebraska-Lincoln (NU) and Colorado-Boulder (CU), Texas A&M University-College Station (A&M), and most especially the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU), since it is the only departing school that has actively and publicly clamored for a continuation of athletic competition with KU.
Explanation - The departures of all of these schools hurt the future prospects of the Big 12 and its remaining members. MU’s decision to leave was particularly disruptive, coming after 8 of the remaining 9 teams had pledged to go forward, and raised conference viability concerns to a new high. At that time, many MU supporters and fans publicly exhibited glee at the fact that KU was left to twist in the wind regarding its future conference affiliation. The decision by MU and A&M to leave created significant contractual problems for the B12, given its multimillion dollar media contracts. Fortunately, the Big 12’s addition of Texas Christian University (TCU) and West Virginia University (WVU) in the summer of 2012 will enable it to meet its contractual obligations for the near future.
In the process of deciding to move to the SEC, MU repeatedly has cited its decision to leave the Big 12 as being the best business decision for the university as a whole, and especially its athletics department and student athletes. It has also repeatedly stressed to KU and to the public that it wishes to continue to play KU in the future. We find this to be totally unacceptable for the following reasons:
1. With MU finally breaking conference ranks with KU after contemplating such a move on a recurring basis over the last twenty years, there is no requirement or need for KU to play them anymore. While there may be a small minority of KU alumni and fans who would like to see the competition continued on the basis of tradition, many of us find that the bitterness between the fan bases of both schools has rendered it less palatable, and we have no desire to continue it just for the sake of tradition.
2. In the same vein as MU's argument for leaving the Big 12, there are no solid business (financial, market share, or brand influence) reasons for KU to continue to schedule MU. Indeed, analysis reveals that all of the business benefits for continuing the series would accrue to MU; we therefore believe that it simply is not a good business decision for KU to continue to schedule MU.
a. Advantages for MU. MU would succeed in averting blame for its having brought the rivalry to an end. MU would retain greater influence and interest in the Kansas City (KC) Metro area, as well as western Missouri, than it would have without its ties to KU. Moreover, MU wouldn’t have to worry as much about its decision to leave the Big 12 being blamed for adversely affecting KC sports economics.
b. Disadvantages for KU. KU has 9 football games to play each year in what is arguably at least the second best, if not the best, football conference in the nation. The 3 non-conference game openings will need to be planned to maximize their benefits to KU. With respect to men’s basketball, playing a program of KU’s elite stature would give MU non-conference appearances in prime time slots on national television that it would not otherwise get. KU can do much better with the networks by scheduling non-conference games against top flight national brands with far more impressive winning traditions and greater national market interest.
3. MU's actions significantly contributed to destabilizing the Big 12. If the conference had failed, at a minimum KU, Kansas State University, Iowa State University and Baylor University all faced uncertain conference affiliation futures and the possibility of significant financial hardships from its collapse.
With MU's decision to leave the conference, it has chosen to walk away from one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, one that began even before KU and MU first became conference partners in 1907. The football rivalry, begun in 1891 and played 120 times to within 1 or 2 games of an all-time draw (depending on whether KU and the NCAA or MU is counting), is the oldest west of the Mississippi. Despite this longstanding tradition, it was MU that chose to abruptly end it by leaving the Big 12.
As alumni and fans, we enthusiastically endorse KU Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger, Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Self, new Football Head Coach Charlie Weis, and all other KU Athletics Head Coaches in taking a firm stand against not scheduling MU for any future games in any KU sports. Their position refuses to reward MU for its damaging behavior, conference disloyalty, and woeful disregard for the tradition-rich rivalry.
Members of the national and local media, with the active encouragement of MU, have recently begun to bring public pressure to bear on KU to continue the rivalry. Many of them are not fully aware of the reasons for KU's position, and many mistakenly believe that most KU fans want the rivalry to continue. Nothing could be further from the truth, as attested to by an ongoing Lawrence Journal World poll that as of February 11, 2012 shows roughly 80% of respondents are against continuing the men's basketball rivalry.
Our names below attest to the fact that we do not want the rivalry to continue, so long as KU and MU are not members of the same conference, and we want you to be secure in the knowledge that we support KU taking its firm and principled position.
Most colleges include some type of sociology course that is intended to assist students in understanding society (and their place in it) or to help the students better themselves as people.
Fleming college requires the students of many courses to take classes from the ORGB course code. These courses only serve to compartmentalize students based on their ability to conform to a template.
The purpose of this petition is not to discredit classes that actually do assist students in becoming complete, healthy people. Understanding one's feelings and goals is important, but these courses do not accomplish that task and are insulting to the students' intelligence.
13. Start a CSI Wrestling team
Wrestling is one of the oldest sports known to man. Just about every high school in New York has a wrestling team and many high school wrestlers come to the College of Staten Island.
Men and women can both wrestle and it will keep them in immaculate shape. If you are an experienced wrestler or looking to try something new wrestling is for you and it will give you a true sense of comradery.
14. Access Codes College Should Pay For
Since the Internet is becoming more dominate in the classroom, students are forced to buy access codes to get information, grades, homework, and messages sent to them from their teachers.
With the money spent toward education, these extra features should be given to students.
15. Let Us Play
The University Challenge Society of the University of Dublin are seeking to convince Granada Studios to allow Trinity College to compete in the television gameshow 'University Challenge'. Trinity competed relatively successfully in this competition until about 30 years ago when interest for it lapsed.
In the last couple of years, interest has emerged once again and contact was made with Granada studios about admitting Trinity. This application was rejected on the basis that we are not a UK university, even though we were founded under Royal Charter and have competed in the past.
This year we want to have another crack at gaining entry and are thus asking for support to launch our "Let Us Play" campaign.
16. Person-Centred Appeals Procedure
Earlier this year I completed a College Certificate Level 3 in Person-Centred Counselling, the course was changed at the last minute from an ABC Level 3 . The ABC course was 140 hours, 36 weeks + a Saturday a term for Personal Development (PD). The new course was 20 weeks, 60 hours to include the one morning allocated for PD . I am very aware of having a word count but let me list just a few of the many problems experienced by the first group through the course.
1. The course no longer being outside accredited resulted in a sense that the students had better please the tutor as she was solely responsible for grades, reports and future references. This had a detrimental effect on group process with students feeling it really was not OK to be themselves or to question anything. I however, took the risk, believing myself to be in a person-centred environment where authenticity and openness would be valued rather than imposed 'conditions of worth'.
2. By Week 15 ( 1 week before tapes were due in) we had had 5 sessions of skills practise, that is 5 minutes listening practise each, 25 minutes total and the tutor had not undertaken any observations. On Week 15 two people were observed and told they would have failed! I wrote to the college and 2 weeks later (!!) the tutor produced a booklet on: ' How to pass the tape part of your Counselling Skills assignment'.
The tutor became very defensive when questioned on her expectations saying: “Students always have this problem getting a tape in”. However, previous students had 60 Guided Learning Hours for Skills so if they struggled to get a tape what chance did we have with 5 weeks or 25 minutes of skills practise? The tutor said: “I am marking at a lower level than the ABC”. However, this simply was not the case, the ABC had a broad spectrum marking base for tapes which would not have resulted in students with 20 minutes of listening practise being told they would fail for a 21 minute tape that did not have 5 skills etc.. In the end the tutor adjusted her expectations and people who had been told their tapes would 'scrape through' or 'fail' ended up with Merits!
3. The course overlapped with the start of the Degree, we had been told we could run the two courses together. The Student Handbook said we had to have Merits or Distinctions in all assignments to get on the Degree + a placement. However, a student was accepted on the Degree with a Unit 1 Pass and a Unit 2 fail and no listening practise or a chance of getting a placement 10 weeks into a Level 3. Again I questioned the college and at this point the Assessment Criteria was changed to accommodate a student failing all assignments but getting on the Degree purely on the reference from the tutor. This resulted in the group feeling even less able to speak up or be themselves as whether they got on the Degree or a reference was solely down to the tutor not Assignments.
Throughout the course I achieved Merits and Distinctions for Assignments; I received positive affirmative written feedback from students and the tutor; I was appreciated within the group and despite the frequent e-mails to the college about various aspects of the course which resulted in course changing, I believed I had as good a relationship with the tutor as any other student.
College ended there was nothing to indicate I would get anything other than an overall Distinction; I have e-mails from students thanking me for all the changes my e-mails brought about and saying I should get a Distinction.
When my Certificate arrived however, I had been downgraded from Merits and Distinctions to a Pass/Merit and the tutor had written a dreadful report for which there is not only no evidence but plentiful evidence to the contrary.
I wrote to the college who should have immediately initiated an 'Appeals Procedure', to include an independent investigation; not only have the college refused to do this, but they said my overall grade was partly due to my use of the Facebook page. I have asked the college to what this refers as this was a private password protected page for Students, not tutors. This means a student must have breached confidentiality and taken something to the tutor which resulted in me being downgraded without either tutor or student speaking to me about this or even indicating there had been a problem. I have no idea what could be being referred to here in any case! However, if the Assessment Criteria had not been changed this could not have happened as clearly a students use of a facebook page had nothing to do with Assignments which is what the grades were supposed to allocated for. Don’t get me wrong I am delighted for the student with her 'pass' and 'fail' getting on the Degree, however, as a consequence I have been downgraded and made wrong for asking questions and left with no future in Counselling without trying to find another Level 3 course and starting all over again . Trying to find another Person-Centred Course I can afford has proven to be impossible.
17. Make Schnazzy an official word
The word Schnazzy has long been used in schools around the globe. In this fast-changing world, we plead that the Oxford English dictionary recognize this word as true English.
18. Allow Students to Recieve Government Help
Right now, full time students are unable to get government assistance such as food stamps unless working so many hours a week, which is very difficult to do if you are studying all the time or if you have dependants.
What is worse is that when we college students graduate, we will be expected to pay taxes to the very government that refused to help us.
We are trying to better ourselves so that we won't need food stamps in the future.
19. Save Westminster Adult Education Services Amberley College from Closure
Amberley College in a Victorian school building which suits it's purpose perfectly.
* Provides training to gain and increase skills towards new careers.
* Provides Learning Support to all.
* Supports individuals with physical and mental health problems.
* Provides family support.
* Serves the community.
* Provides high quality courses, facilities and resources others do not.
* The very good cafe enables all of the college users to mix and meet.
20. Let it be Understood that the Film and Video Room is a STUDIO
Within the campus of Wimbledon College of Art, there is only one studio which is at all suitable for use as a film studio.
In recent years the college has seen a vast increase in the number of students wishing to create moving image work both on the specialised Print and Time-Based Media pathway as well as in Painting, Sculpture and the school of Theatre. However, this studio is constantly being given over to staff for meetings, presentations, tutorials and other such activities which are far more flexible in their mobility.
It is not necessary for these activities to take place in this studio and there are a range of far more suitable spaces in the college (e.g. the MEETINGS room). Time and time again students are being ousted from the 'specialist' film studio and having their projects ruined for the sake of staff-led activities.
This must change.
21. Lower financial aid parent income requirements to eighteen
Georgetown University conducted a study, estimating that 63 percent of jobs in the U.S. will require post-secondary education by 2018. Lowering the age requirement is not only going to help us get funding for an education and become smarter, but more and more jobs are requiring higher educated people to run their business.
Education is your survival tool in life. A college education sets you up to support yourself and family for the future. Furthering your education can be very expensive and factor a major burden if you are ineligible to receive financial aid, because your parents make too much money. With unemployment rates still through the roof, should your college education still be put on hold?
Robert Schwartz, a leader of the Harvard Graduate school reports that at the age twenty-five, twenty-nine percent have a bachelor’s degree, eleven percent had an associate degree, and sixty percent of twenty-five years had no degree. Could that sixty percent of twenty-five year olds with no degrees, be because they have to claim their parents income and receive no financial help to start an education?
It’s not fair that student’s education has to suffer, because their parents make too much money. With Oregon’s unemployment numbers at 10.5 percent, Oregonians continue to count on public services. Only having 4.5 percent of Oregon college graduates being unemployed, the odds favor more people having jobs, are the college graduates.
This petition is for anyone who wants to show their support for nurses who have delivered care on fields of conflict, in service of their country. There is currently no dedicated memorial to the service of all nursing staff in the United Kingdom.
We are therefore calling on the Government of the United Kingdom to back the RCN’s campaign for a national monument, recognising the service of nursing staff in conflict zones.
From the work of Florence Nightingale on the Crimean battlefields to the modern day service in Afghanistan, nurses have served courageously in the heat of battle for generations.
More than 2,000 nurses gave their lives during the two world wars.
We believe it is now time for this unique service by nurses to be recognised.

As a student fresh out of college I am extremely frustrated looking for a job. Despite the fact that I may have equivalent experience through my education to enable me to work jobs such as an administrative assistant the computer systems do not take that into consideration and I get kicked out before anyone even looks at my resume.
If people wonder why college kids have such trouble finding decent jobs, this is why. I once got a rejection letter 10 minutes before I submitted my application.
25. Stop Deal's Proposal on cutting HOPE Book Allowances
It has been proposed the Georgia General Assembly by Nathan Deal that not only should k-12 education funding be cut, but the HOPE book allowances should be cut as well.
We, students, parents, and teachers, feel that this proposal cut should be denied as a way to avoid troubles for the tax paying citizens of Georgia.
26. Change Literature for Intersex Rights at Scripps College
The literature at Scripps College has always been written in female pronouns but it excludes Intersex students who would like to be recognized by their educational institution.
27. End LBGTQ Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying in College
All college students have a right to a positive experience!
Still on a daily basis, many college students are singled out, teased, harassed, bullied, and labeled with derogatory comments that are shameful, discriminatory, hurtful and uncalled for. Discrimination and constant hazing are also faced by these students simply due to one thing – their sexual orientation. This type of behaviour is inexcusable in any environment and should not be tolerated or made excusable in society today! Every college student deserves to be given the same opportunities and experiences that are memorable and encouraging no matter who they may be.
LBGTQ discrimination, harassment and bullying needs to stop! Stop now!! There is no need for all the violence that goes on just because of sexual preference. Gay or straight, we're all the same - we all have the same heart, we all bleed, and have the same wants like every human in this world. When you impose your beliefs or your discomfort on someone’s life or judge them for who they are or want to be, you create an unhealthy environment.
How would you feel if it was your mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin or even YOU that was being hated because of the colour of your eyes or feelings that you have, that you can't change?
28. Burnley college should revoke ban on Niqab
Burnley College have in place a ban on Muslim women wearing the Niqab. This applies to all staff, students and visitors to the college.
Recently a elderly muslim woman attending the college with her daughter to discuss matters with a teacher was required to remove her veil, or the teacher would not converse with her.
Regardless of what you think of the niqab, this situation is outrageous and a clear infringement of an individual's human rights. Therefore, we all, Muslim's and Non muslims, should stand up and fight this outrageous policy to defend our right to wear what we feel comfortable in and what we believe is in line with our religious beliefs.
Amazingly the college shares the campus, with the University of Central Lancashire, who do not have such a ban. Therefore on half of the campus you are free to wear the niqab, on the other half, you have to remove it!!!

Well if so, here I go.
Game day weekends are EXTREMELY important to any Rebel. Last year for the Alabama vs Ole Miss games, 62,657 people attended the game in the stadium. That's not including all the people who are only in the Grove having a good time. Just imagine if all those people went to eat at a restaurant on Sunday. With alcohol sales on Sunday's, those family owned businesses would be able to make over their usual profit.
