1. Support LTD, STD and Social Security

On February 4, 2011 an injury that was sudden took place that caused major pain to my limbs. On March 31, 2011 surgery took place to remove the C5-6 and C6-7 discs in my spine rendering me unable to complete everyday tasks.

I had elected through my place of employment to have Long Term Disability, unfortunately this has not been released. All that has been asked by the insurance company has been done and yet still the stall tactics commence.

There are many people in my position that are not receiving the benefits that they so richly deserve by these insurance companies. We are asking congress to do something about this issue. It has been almost 200 days without pay and therapy, as well as any other lines of treatment are at an impass without the pay checks that are deserved.

5. Emancipation In Ohio

"Ohio Emancipation of Minor Law

ยง2111.181: Settlement of claim of emancipated minor.

When personal injury, damage to tangible or intangible property, or damage or loss on account of personal injury or damage to tangible or intangible property is caused to a minor, who claims to be emancipated, by wrongful act, neglect, or default which would entitle the minor to maintain an action and recover damages for the injury, damage, or loss, and when any minor who claims to be emancipated is entitled to maintain an action for damages or any other relief based on any claim, or is subject to any claim to recover damages or any other relief based on any claim, the minor, who claims to be emancipated, may file an application in the probate court in the county where he then resides, praying for a finding by the court that the minor is in fact emancipated, and authorizing, approving, and consenting to the settlement of the claim by the minor without the appointment of a guardian.

Upon hearing on the application, after five days' written notice of the time and place of the hearing has been given to each of the living parents of the minor, whose name and address is known, provided the parent is free from disability other than minority, or, if there is no living parent, after such notice to the next of kin of the minor known to reside in the county, the court may find the minor to be emancipated and may authorize, approve, and consent to the settlement of the claim by the minor without the appointment of a guardian and may authorize the minor to receive and receipt for the settlement and, upon the minor executing and delivering a full and complete release for the injuries, damages, losses, or claims, may authorize the delivery and payment of such moneys to the minor, to a trustee or guardian of the estate of the minor appointed by the court for the benefit of the minor, or to a depository authorized to receive fiduciary funds to hold the moneys payable to the ward when he attains majority, or for the benefit of the minor, as the court may direct.

Upon the finding of the probate court that the minor was, at the time of the injury damage, loss, or claim, an emancipated minor, and provided the notice required by this section has been given to each living parent, whose name and address is known, then the release executed by the emancipated minor shall be a full and complete discharge and release of any claim which either or both of the parents might have by reason of the personal injury, damage to tangible or intangible property, damage or loss on account of personal injury, or damage to tangible or intangible property, or any other claim of the minor. HISTORY: 129 v 205 (Eff 10-2-61); 143 v H 346. Eff 5-31-90."

6. Stop SUNY Stony Brook's administration from favoring student athletes

As a freshman at SUNY Stony Brook, every student is required to take and pass a 101 level course within their undergraduate college. Also, during their second semester freshman are required to take a 102 level course within their undergraduate college. It has come to my attention that student athletes are not being required to take the 102 level courses. Such discrimination is appalling, especially when it is occurring at an institution that prides itself on academic excellence.

The argument for the exemption is that athletes have more duties outside the class room than the average student. This claim ignores the fact that athletes choose to take on those responsibilities. It also ignores the fact that all students have duties outside the class room. Unless the administration intends to review every student's additional obligations and determine on a case by case basis whether a student should be required to meet the 102 course requirement they can not stand by this exaggerated claim.

I am asking that you help change this policy, simply by signing the following petition. Either the 102 level courses should be made optional to all students or student athletes should be required to meet the same standards as the rest of us.

Keep in mind; more great accomplishments in history have been achieved through strength of mind than have been accomplished through strength of muscle.

9. Save QMC - Intervene to Prevent Demolition

Kindly intervene to prevent demolition of the famed womens college in Chennai - Queen Marys College - in the guise of building a new Secretariat for Government of Tamilnadu. At a time when the State is facing a financial crunch and Government Employees are made to pay for the follies of the political bosses, spending crores of public money for a new Secretariat is a crime.

QMC is a historical monument. I have had the privalage of seeing it and enthralled by its services. This monument is definetely not in a bad shape as the politicians claim. Spending a few lakhs of rupees will make this institution fit for many more years to come.

We depend on your enthusiasm to create an educated and liberated India to stop this atrocious act of demolishing a heritage monument for petty and selfish gains.

10. Improve the Countryside and Save It From Destruction

In Croft, there have been many plans to open it up and improve it but so far, all have been thwarted by people intent on keeping it what it is on the flimsy pretext of 'protecting the green belt'. The most recent plan is to re-open the station - a plan that would vastly improve the area. Why? Because they claim that it would involve building a car park to fit 5000 cars. How likely is it that any place that gets (at most) 350 cars a day would build a car park that would leave at least 4000 spaces empty every day? It is almost impossible! The objectors base their claim on environmental issues but I challenge that. If there was a station, there would be less cars on the road. Were there less cars, two things would happen; there would be less pollution and there would be less demand for new roads. By keeping the station shut these people are forcing more cars onto the roads. This means that new roads will have to be built as the existing ones cannot cope with the ammounts of traffic. Building new roads will take up even more green belt than the small space needed for a car park. The car park will not be an eyesore as it will surely be small - it cannot be any otherwise! Even if you do not care about a small village that you probably have not heard of, the environment affects everybody, and it is all of our duty to protect it in whatever way we can. The only way to stop the whole country from being covered in motorways and otherwise trashed is to open it up now - starting with the stations!
