1. Remove 'Team Buhay, Team Patay' Posters in Philippine Catholic Churches

When the Commission on Elections of the Philippines asked some Catholic dioceses to remove their 'Team Buhay, Team Patay (Team of Life, Team of Death)' posters, posters suggesting who senatorial candidates must their respective constituents vote in the near May 2013 elections, with their stand on the reproductive health (RH) law as basis, the Catholic Diocese of Bacolod insisted that only the Vatican can order the removal of mentioned posters and they released that statement during the 'sede vacante (vacant seat)' period of the Catholic Church.

Now that the 'sede vacante (vacant seat)' period was over and the Catholic Church has a new pope, His Holiness Pope Francis, it is now the appropriate and proper time to ask the Vatican to order the removal of the said poster. It is an unethical and improper act to put such posters in a place supposed to serve the spiritual needs of the Catholic faithful. The separation of Church and State, both agreed on by the Church and the State, must be upheld always by both sides.

The Church must never involve itself in partisan politics, just like what His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said.

3. Allow students the freedom to participate in school & church related events

For the past six years, Central Baptist Church has been building an after school ministry for grades k-12. Until the fall of 2011 the attendance at this ministry was mainly K-6th graders.

The school supported the ministry by dropping off the elementary students (with parental permission) at the church after school. By the spring of 2012, the ministry began to reach the 7-12th graders. This is when the school stopped their full support. The school forced the students to choose between school and church by scheduling extracurricular practice during this ministry and enforcing punishment on the students when they chose church instead of school.

There were other times that the extracurricular activities could have been rescheduled to accommodate the ministry due to the fact that the ministry was taking place at the best possible time for optimal attendance. Also, cheer-leading practice for the junior high was moved intentionally to the ministry time slot so those students could no longer attend church. When the ministry leadership approached the school leadership, a compromise was made to allow the k-8th graders to attend the ministry from 4-5:30pm without school practice conflicts and the 9-12th grade to be released to attend the ministry from 5:30-7pm. The school did not keep their end of the compromise.

Therefore, this petition will give the parents and community a voice to urge the school to hold up their end of the compromise.

4. Fighting Childhood Obesity In St. Louis, Missouri

Build A Body Kid's Fitness, Inc. (BABKF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting the childhood obesity epidemic in the USA. Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are obese.

Since 1980, the obesity prevelance among children and adolescents has almost tripled.

There are significant racial and ethnic disparities in obesity prevalence among U.S. children and adolescents. In 2007-2008, Hispanic boys, aged 2-19 years, were significantly more likely to be obese than non-Hispanic white boys, and non-Hispanic black girls were significantly more likely to be obese than non-Hispanic white girls.

Each fall, Christian Embassy Church (CEC) in Black Jack, Missouri hosts an annual community fundraiser for a nationally recognized charity organization suitably named Harvest Fest. The monies raised total into the thousands. This year's charity recipient is a local non-profit organization, Buid A Body Kid's Fitness, Inc.. 6. The NFL Must Tackle Human/Sex Trafficking

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed the Human Trafficking Bill into law January 30, 2012, saying he hopes it will “put up the ‘Don’t Try It Here’ sign in Indiana” just in time for a game that Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says has a history of attracting increased activity in the commercial sex trade.

“Let’s hope that the law has a deterrent effect,” Daniels said, “and that these criminals will take their horrible business somewhere else.”

The law, which took effect immediately upon the governor affixing his signature, closes loopholes that have made it tougher for Indiana to prosecute those who have helped sell children into sexual slavery.
It also strikes a provision of state law that required prosecutors to prove that those who are accused of coercing children into sexual slavery used or threatened to use physical force to do so.

Advocates said it was the one step Indiana absolutely had to take before the game.

He know now the following statistics:

* Each year 1 million children are exploited by the commercial sex trade according to the U.S. Department of State, The Facts About Child Sex Tourism: 2005

* 100,000 to 293,000 U.S. children are in danger of becoming sexual commodities, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

* 12 is the average age of entry into pornography and prostitution in the U.S., according to The US Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section

* 33% of a sample group of female commercial sex workers in Chicago began in the sex trade between the ages of 12 and 15, with 56% being 16 or younger according to an investigation conducted by Schiller DuCanto& Fleck Family Law Center.

With the Super Bowl comes this crime-sex trafficking

We ask the Commissioner of The National Football League "if your part of the problem, your against the solution" ! Be part of the solution and promote awareness of this global problem that follows the Super Bowl by advertising against the insidious crime that comes to large sporting events like the Super Bowl

8. Move the historic Cavaille-Coll organ from the Parr Hall into St. Mary's Warrington

St Mary's Priory Church www.stmaryswarrington.org.uk is served by the Benedictine Monks of Ampleforth Abey. It is the town's most central Roman Catholic Church, situated on Buttermarket Street in the heart of Warrington.

St. Mary's is recognised as having one of the leading church choirs in the North West. The choir - and indeed the whole church - prides itself in continuing this ancient tradition that is part of our nation's cultural heritage.

St. Mary's is fortunate to have had a choral tradition, since its opening in 1877. One of the first organists was Rev J E Turner, who, along with R R Terry, organist of Westminster Cathedral, was linstrumental in the the revival of Renaissance polyphonic music in England.

St. Mary's is becoming increasingly a centre for musical excellence as well as liturgical service, with 3 choirs, frequent concerts and new musical enterprises being initiated, such as the Choral Outreach programme: delivering a singing programme to Catholic schools in Warrington.

The Cavaille-Coll was built in Paris in 1869 and bought by Warrington Corporation in 1926. The opening recital was given by Marcel Dupre, organist of S. Sulpice, Paris. It was restored in 1972 by Henry Willis and Sons.

As well as being a magnificent instrument, acclaimed nationally as one of England's finest organs, it is cherished by non organ enthusiasts as a local treasure, a piece of their history and a town landmark.

Moving the organ into St. Mary's would have many major benefits:

St. Mary's would benefit from one of the finest organs in the country, which would bring people from far and wide into the Church;

An organ so suitable for the accompaniment of Catholic liturgy would enhance the liturgical and musical life of St. Mary's;

Links with local Universities and the Royal Northern College of Music could be nurtured, furthering the role of education within the Church;

Good relations with Warrington Corporation and the town could continue;

St. Mary's would become a landmark for musical and community interest locally and nationally, enabling it to further its mission into society.

9. Justice for the victims of the Two Saints Church, Alexandria, Egypt

Minutes into the New Year, a terrorist act by detonating explosives at the Two Saints’ Coptic Church in Alexandria, Egypt, while New Years Eve prayers were being conducted killing 27 and injuring 79. The Egyptian government announced that it will bring the perpetrators to justice. Now after more than 7 months there is no charge brought against any one and justice is not in the horizon.

Neither this barbaric act of violence nor the government response is an isolated incident but small part in the cycle of persecution, intimidation and violence targeting many Egyptians that are taking place over the past 30 years. As to Coptic Christians there has been over 400 cases of Christians killed in cold blood over the past 30 years for no reason other than being Christians, their murder gone without prosecution by the Egyptian government justice system which has given green light to Islamic fundamentalists to continue and intensify their persecution and murder.

With the dawn of the Egyptian revolution we Copts felt an end is coming to over 30 years of systemic discriminated and persecutions against any one who is not Muslim Sunni. However events so far proved that the Copts optimism has not yet translated to deeds. The families of the dead and the injured have not seen that justice is done; the government does not seem concerned after the state failure to protect its citizens, an essential part of a state towards its citizen.

10. Don't Force Churches to Accept Gay Civil Unions

On the 8th September 2011, it was revealed that the English government wanted to force all UK Christian churches to accept gay unions.

After reading these call to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in regards of the idea to make Christian Churches comply with "same sex unions" or face a ban on marriages.

This idea seriously resembles one of a Communist or Fascist. This idea is a huge attack on religious liberty. It's like they're saying that churches are not allowed to disagree with homosexuality or have a stance against it, or otherwise face legal consequences. All in the name of "equality". It's like they're removing their right to disagree. In politics, if a government forcefully removes the right of an institution or an individual to disagree with the state, then that automatically meets the definition of Authoritarianism.

In the United States, even where same-sex marriage is legal, religious institutions have legal protection against having to recognize or perform it. However what they are proposing is that the government should basically trample on the rights of Christian churches and force them to accept civil unions or face legal penalties for refusing to do so. That is not "liberalism" or there so called idea of "equality", it's merely using legal force to keep people in line to your ideas (authoritarianism).

In the USSR there was plenty of "equality", likewise there is in China, North Korea, Vietnam, etc. All of these states had policies which persecuted and suppressed Christians for the sake of "equality", again identical to what you are doing.

We believe that Christians should have liberty too; especially liberty to reject civil unions and gay marriage even if the state itself prohibits it. Why? Because Christians have beliefs and values just like Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Sikhs and just because they are often from this country or "white" does not make it any less of a religion than to face persecution by the state itself.

The two lads setting up this petition are both from a Christian and our church and our beliefs are no business of the state whatsoever, the governments ideas are infringing upon our individual rights and millions of other devout Christians in the United Kingdom. They wouldn't force Muslims or Jews to accept civil unions now would they?

Our Church does not accept civil unions or gay marriage and won't if the state tries to force it upon them. If homosexuals have a problem with our beliefs in this modern society, then they have the liberty not to be involved with us or worship with us, but likewise we also should have the respective liberty to disagree with today's modern obsession with homosexuality.

Please sign this petition and stop this government trying to crush and trample on Christianity

Thank You!

11. Review administration of donation of Mr. Petros I. Tsiros to the Church of Cyprus

In 1984 Petros I. Tsiros passed away after making the biggest ever donation to the Church of Cyprus, a property donation believed to be worth by today’s value, of well over One Billion Euros (600 Million Cypriot Pounds), with the express written condition that the Church of Cyprus should use the profits from the sale and development of that land, for public charitable causes and every time such funds were used to announce that they originated from Petros I. Tsiros donation fund.

After thirty five or so years and hundreds of millions of proceeds from that donation, the people of Cyprus are still anxiously waiting for the first of such announcements and the handling of the donation has remained an enigma to many.

15. Stop Scottish State-Schools from Endorsing Specific Religions

Within state schools in Scotland there is a promotion of specific religions (dependent on the school) above others or irreligion. My belief is that there should be laws in place to prevent an unbalanced religious education for the children of Scotland as it goes against a diverse religious society in Scotland. Those who wish to follow their religion should do it in their own time and if they must during school day, they should make the choice to remove themselves from the class to do so.

To force those who don't wish to be part of a religious observance to leave the educational environment is discriminatory and ostracising against someone who has not made a religious choice at all.

Despite the majority of the country coming from Christian families, this does not mean we are a purely Christian country, 40% of the country follow no religion at all. Even if we are a 'Christian country' there is no reason for our faith to permeate into the educational system unless it is in a fair and balanced learning environment.

18. Save our Pride, Save our Pool

A once proud and thriving cultural development venue, the Lawrence Street Recreation Center has been neglected by the city for years.

While municipal projects went forward elsewhere, our African-American families stood to lose generations of tradition with activities already diminished by the lack of appropriate funding where it is needed most.

Swimming is not only fun, but also a safety skill that disproportionately affects African-Americans from a history that needs no clarification. It is time for Lawrence Street Recreation Center to be re-developed with a full set of amenities of a first class, indoor facility.

We realize that Lawrence Street recreational facility is vital to all citizens of Marietta regardless of race or color, even though it is the African American community that has sought to initiate this endeavor, all are welcome to join.

Note: Cullen Jones, was only the second African-American to ever win a swimming gold medal even though black people are less than 1% of the competitive swimmers. It can't change by closing pools and closing opportunities in our own neighborhoods.

Sign this petition and tell the city that we are not only going to be counted in the Census, but also in our local government on every issue from now on, starting with this one.

19. Why Not An Event Centre and Church?

The former Gala Bingo Building in Camberwell has been bought by a business and a church. Prior to being a bingo hall it was a cinema. The new owners are looking to turn it into a community/event centre in order to preserve it in it's current state as much as possible (It is a listed building).

Some members of the local community have stuck on the "Church" and say the do not want a church! They want an arts centre. The council have explained that it is private property and therefore Gala can sell it to whom they please.

The Church want it to remain a community space but are being drowned out before they speak with comments like"we will do here what they did to KICC in Crystal Palace". We do not think that makes for just governance. Join us, lend your voice to our campaign.

20. Justice for Priests

The zero tolerance policy was a necessary measure at the time of its adoption; however the policy has proven to be extremely unjust and devastating to our falsely accused priests and clergy.

The policy justifiably protects the rights of the victims but does not provide the same protection for our current falsely accused priests who are in the midst of an appeal. We must defend the basic rights of our accused priests who currently have a pending case. Our Church must bring an end to this injustice immediately.

24. Stop Clergy Abuse - "Three Is Not A Crowd...When It Comes To Counseling"

Sexual contact during or after any counseling relationship is considered grossly unethical by a broad slice of professional counseling groups, including the American Association of Christian Counselors, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and the National Association of Social Workers. That's because of the power counselors hold over clients—power born of authority and being privy to clients' most intimate emotions and fears. Experts say this power is magnified in pastoral counseling.

Sexual contact between a counselor and counselee is NEVER consensual, NEVER an "affair." It's ABUSE!

Too many churches see the victims of sexual exploitation by predatorial pastors as "just rewards" for women (and occasionally men) that have not been able to defend their sexual boundaries when it is invaded by some helper in authority over them. Too often, our church leaders call these criminal acts "an affair" -- and blame the counselee for being "equally responsible" -- in most states sexual exploitation by helping professionals is criminal sexual conduct in the third degree -- a felony!

28. My son deserve a father figure in his life - Don't deport Jacques to DRC

My partner has been in prison for almost 6 months. We were hoping that his sentence will be reduced and finished on or before13th August. He appealed against his sentence and his appeal went through and he is hoping to attend the court on Friday.

I contacted our mp concerning his immigration papers the home office wrote to him that they are processing his case. He left me with a 51/2 weeks baby when they took him on 9th February, not fully recovered from operation and with no help at all as the social service said i was not entitled to any benefit for a baby as an international student and him being a failed asylum seeker.

I manage to survive mainly for the help of the church.
I was expecting that after his sentence my partner should be able to come out and support our baby so that i can go on with my studies but last week the immigration prisoner officer told him that no matter what happened to his sentence he is going to be detained and deported back to DRC congo.

I am so confused and i don't understand why are they doing this to my family, i am sure if he go back to his country he is going to be killed and i cant go with him, if i send my baby to masai land he will not be accepted (a baby from non maasai dad). I am struggling to stay in UK for the time being using some serving i had and help from the church worrying not to know what else i can do. I feel there is no justice at all.
