Dear Commissioner Goodell,
Stop Sex Trafficking at the Super Bowl Petition
WHEREAS: The Governor of the State of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, in his State of the State address given January 10, 2012 said the following:
"We should – no, we must – strengthen our laws against the horrid practice of human trafficking, and we must do it in time for the Super Bowl, the kind of event at which the exploitation of young women is rampant in the absence of such a tough law."
WHEREAS: Police reported as many as 10,000 prostitutes, including children, were in Miami during the 2010 Super Bowl.
WHEREAS: Police arrested two men in 2009 in Tampa for hawking sex with 14-year-old girl as a "Super Bowl Special."
WHEREAS: In 2008, Phoenix police busted a child prostitution ring just before the Super Bowl.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Commissioner of The National Football League to be part of the solution rather than be perceived as part of the problem
WE THE UNDERSIGNED ask the NFL to tackle the issue of Sex Trafficking through bus ads, billboards, and print media and other mediums of the media.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED want the NFL to be seen as an organization that fights for the exploited victims of human / sex trafficking.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED want The NFL and the Super Bowl to be perceived as a child friendly – family friendly event.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED want The NFL and the Super Bowl to be praised when arrests for prostitution and sex-trafficking are made in Indianapolis and future Super Bowl events.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED don’t want The NFL and Super Bowl to sit on the sidelines and do nothing, because if you do you the Super Bowl will be blind-sided in the following ways;
1. Seen as an apathetic organization only interested in making money.
2. Perceived as promoting immoral, unjust, and criminal activities.
3. Will be accused as being the problem when arrests are made.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED ask Indianapolis law enforcement officersto arrest the johns and government officials to enact the laws and prosecute those who break the law.
FINALLY, WE THE UNDERSIGNED SAY: COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL, LET'S NOT PLAY GAMES!
If you are part of the problem you are against the solution.
