STOP ACTA!

Petition published by Austin Venable on Jan 30, 2012

Target: Congress

Petition Background (Preamble):

The Anti-counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is proposed to be passed. Recently, SOPA was discarded after public outrage and internet strikes. ACTA was shelved last year but now there are plans to initiate it.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, do we really want our privacy attacked? The internet is to be monitored so every time that you send or receive info it will be MONITORED! This goes against the very principle of free speech!

Please let congress know by signing the petition that this is UNACCEPTABLE AND WE WILL NOT LET OUR PRIVACY BE INVADED!

Petition:

Dear Congress,

Please do not start ACTA. This would hamper internet freedoms and would outrage the public.

We understand that internet piracy is a problem but there are other ways to deal with it. We do not wish the internet to be watched for copyrighted material.

Would it really be fair if a video was uploaded using copyrighted music for background and the person could be fined or sent to jail? The internet should be left the way it is. ACTA would not solve the problem without making the public mad. So why start it?
