HSBC plans to close the Whitchurch branch on 22 January 2010, citing a lack of commercial justification. This will have a major effect on individuals, businesses and community groups who use the bank and ATM, forcing people to drive for miles to the nearest alternative.

We, the undersigned, call on HSBC to consult with the Whitchurch community and relevant local bodies regarding the planned closure of the Whitchurch branch - the last bank in town.
