Petition for the Dismissal of Charges against Derrick Palmer

We, the undersigned, would like to express our support for Derrick Donnell Palmer. By information and belief we feel his actions on the date 20 August 2006 were in defense of his mother, her unborn child, and his infant brother (age 1).

Derrick Palmer is still a child himself; he turned 16 on August 8, 2006. If the incident had happened twelve days earlier he would have been charged as the child that he is instead of an adult.

Mrs. Palmer had a restraining order in place against her estranged boyfriend Dana Keith Blankenship, Mr. Blankenship had a lengthy record of abuse and domestic violence against other women. After Blankenship assaulted an eight months pregnant Mrs. Palmer; her child Derrick Palmer, had little choice other than to protect his mother and the unborn child from a man bigger than both him and his mother.

We implore that the charges against Derrick Donnell Palmer be dropped so he can put this tragedy behind himself and get on with his life. He was only trying to protect his mother, unborn sister, and baby brother’s life.
