No Toxic Soil Facility in Altona

The undersigned people respectfully oppose Planning Application PA1123708 for 541-583 Kororoit Creek Rd Altona VIC 3018 by Dow Chemical & Innova to establish a permanent soil decontamination facility on the grounds that:

(a) a facility of this kind should be located well away from residents and not on the doorstep of one of the biggest residential growth areas in Australia;

(b) the facility’s hours of operation and volume of soil treated are excessive;

(c) insufficient information is provided about the use and disposal of the treated soil; and

(d) temporary, mobile soil treatment technology should be used to clean sites as proven by the applicant, which makes the need to transport contaminated soil around the metropolitan area redundant.
