No to reduced crossing time

Dear Mayor

We want you to put an end to initiatives that involve reducing pedestrian crossing time now.

London could be a world class walking city, however scarce resources and effort must be directed towards ensuring quality safe crossings and streets that are designed with people in mind - not just smoothing the flow of motor traffic. This means ensuring that people have sufficient time to cross the road. Fear of traffic and the tortuous amounts of time it can take to cross some roads are real barriers to people walking more short journeys, in particular older people and those with disabilities.
