No to ablishment of traditional Chinese
Petition published by Mercedes Lee on Feb 23, 2008
Target: UN
Region: Belgium
Petition Background (Preamble):
Traditional Chinese has it's cultural significance, Chinese is not only a spoken language, the written Chinese has it's beauty and gives the meaning of each character.
Chinese language is monosyllabic, the simplified character is used to help less educated or non-Chinese to learn Chinese, and is only one form of written Chinese, it gives mostly only the sonar part of one character and causes confusion without it's context.
Simplified Chinese can not substitute the traditional Chinese, it's only a part or a form of written Chinese.
