Petition Background (Preamble):
Currently, 44000 people are scrambling to find ways to get work in York Region due to a ridiculous strike such as taking a cab that they can barely afford. Some people cannot even go to work.
The Ontario Provincial Government recently made the TTC an essential service. What is the difference between the TTC and any other public transit system? The ridership? That should not matter.
People who use any transit system still need to get to work, or to appointments. It does not matter whether they live in Toronto or not. Public Transit should be an essential service across the province.
