Grant Nobel Peace Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Political Asylum in the US

We, the undersigned, call on President Barack Obama to grant Nobel Peace Laureate Daw (Mrs.) Aung San Suu Kyi political asylum in the US if a negative verdict is returned at her trial.

Suu Kyi is charged with violating the terms of her house arrest by harboring an American man who swam secretly to her lakeside home to warn her of a dream he had in which she would be assassinated. She provided him with food and shelter for two days, doing what any reasonable person would do in the same or similar circumstances.

Suu Kyi argues that the charge is invalid since it is based on a 1974 constitution that was abolished in 1988.
