Petition Background (Preamble):
*The issuing of smoking citations is ineffective at stopping smoking on campus.
*Second hand smoke is still, if not even more of, an issue because in order to avoid said tickets, smokers will congregate to "safe spots" that, while discrete, are often high traffic public areas.
*Designated smoking areas are the simplest way to rid the campus grounds of cigarette butts and, more importantly, to effectively distance second hand smoke from non-smokers and public areas.

We, the undersigned, request the zoning of designated smoking areas at the Paramus campus of Bergen Community College.
