Petition Background (Preamble):
The majority of Australians do not use paper phone books any more, choosing to use the internet instead. However hundreds of thousands of the books are dumped on doorsteps around the country regardless of whether people want them or not.
While it is true that the books are largely recycled paper, the energy and resources required to produce, deliver, and destroy them is still incredibly wasteful, given that they're not needed.
We need to curb our waste to protect the environment and move towards a sustainable future.

Petition:
We call on the Australian government to stop the automatic delivery of paper phone books to households and businesses around Australia. Instead, they should be made available on request.
