Donate our Australia Day fireworks budget to 2011 flood victims
Result:
A big thanks to all who supported, but unfortunately this petition was doomed to failure. Australia day is just around the corner and it is highly unlikely there will be any reallotment of funds in that time.
I would also like to thank those who took the time to email me their opinion on the subject. But I still feel it is a complete waste of money at any time, let alone in a time of disaster.
And, thank you to those who pointed it out, but I am very much aware that there are many other ways our government wastes OUR money. I hope to see campaigns for some of these in the future.
So apologies, and again, thanks for your support.

We, the citizens of Australia, wish to forgo Australia Day fireworks displays this year and instead direct the allocated funds to victims of The 2011 floods.
