Abolish Church Internal Investigations into Abuse by Clergy

We the undersigned, call on the Australian government to help us ongoing to heal the wounded, protect the vulnerable and bring offenders to justice by abolishing the Australian catholic church's internal investigations system (Towards Healing).

SCAA recommends the abolishment of all church internal sex abuse investigative processes, and recommends establishment of an independent body as an alternative to the criminal system if the survivors so choose.

SCAA has prepared a document outlining the draft procedures for an independent investigative system, which will offer survivors of sex abuse an alternative to criminal proceedings and safeguards victims rights.

By tipping off their clergy paedophiles, drawing out biased and non-transparent investigations by their own SCAA is Australia's national clergy abuse survivor and lobby association currently working with towards the establishment of a judicial enquiry, culminating in not only the abolishment of the church investigating their own abuse allegations, but providing a truly independent panel/mechanism through which survivors can safely lodge their allegations which will be honestly independently investigated, and suitable recompense recommended to be paid to the survivor, without any further re-abuse within by the church or the intricately difficult criminal system being survivors only options.
