Petition signature comment by Elizabeth Cowie

Petition signer's comment:
The Library of the British Film Institute has been and continues to be the central resource for the study of the history of cinema and television in Britain. It is able to offer wide public access because of its accessible location, fulfilling the vital role of serving both academic researchers and the work of industry researchers. It is a key example of the impact within and outside the academy that current policy seeks. Its loss would severely diminish this sector of the creative industry.
